The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Emma, and Squirrels, and Feeling...Oh My!(Zoe, Blaine)
Zoe nodded her understanding when Emma said that she’d have to head home after they got their cheese, but that she’d tag along to the store. ”I’ll need to head home then, too,” Zoe replied. ”This lasagna isn’t going to make itself.”
Once Emma had paid for her produce, Zoe started walking in the direction of the store she was planning on going to. But then Emma was talking about getting that tomato sauce recipe to her that very day, and Zoe looked over at the other woman in slight surprise. ”No, I’ve got the day off,” Zoe said. ”I figured that I’d spend the day cooking since I haven’t gotten to in a while.”
Pausing a moment to think, Zoe then nodded. ”I’m sure we could figure out somewhere to meet at some point today,” Zoe finally said. ”I don’t think I’ll be cooking literally all day, so something should work.”

Emma laughed at the joke about the lasagna not making itself. And continued following Zoe to the grocery store. Emma gave up on trying to learn more from her at this point in time and nodded her head at Zoe saying it was her day off.
"Oh, yeah. I suppose it would be hard to really enjoy getting to cook when you have work all day. Well, would you mind if I did come to visit you at work sometime? I haven't visited the zoo here yet. Though I think it would be a great place to see and have fun, since I spend most of my time inside the house. How would I even know which area to come visit to see you?" Emma replied.
Emma wondered what other activities Zoe was into and what kind of place she's wanna meet at for the recipe. Maybe it would be a coffee shop and not some club or dark alley.
Zoe nodded again. She cooked after work more often than not, and most times she did enjoy doing it, but that was on a whole different level than just taking a day to cook for fun.
But then Emma went on to ask about coming to visit while she was at work. ”It’s kind of hard to visit while I’m working,” Zoe said thoughtfully. The closest she ever got to where visitors to the zoo were was when she was outside in the zebra enclosure working with the animals. Not exactly somewhere that Emma could come into. ”But I’m sure that we could grab lunch there one day or something like that.”
Coming to a stop at a light, Zoe looked over at Emma as they waited. ”I work with the zebras, though I don’t think I’m ever that visible from where you’d be able to stand.”

Emma nodded as Zoe explained that it would be difficult to visit her at the zoo. She understood that she worked probably more behind the scenes in the enclosure. But at least she did say which enclosure she'd be at and that helped.
"I would love to come eat lunch with you and see the zebras you care for." Emma said with a smile as they waited for the light to change so they could walk. She hoped that the store wasn't too much further to go.
Emma still needed to pass whatever it was off to someone and figure out what it was. And she had to go home, unload her bags, and cook for her Mom. And later that evening she had to bring Zoe her Mom's recipe. Maybe she could get it all done today. She had to get it done today. Emma didn't know how long this thing would last or if she would forget it soon or anything really, so she had to try and get this all figured out. She just had to.
Zoe smiled as Emma talked. It seemed, she was making a friend. That would be a first, well other than Jay. Though, Zoe couldn’t help but think, that might not last long when Emma found out more about her.
Well, in the meantime, Zoe figured, it would probably be nice to have a friend.
Crossing the street now that the light had changed, Zoe looked over at Emma. ”We could probably arrange something,” Zoe told the other woman as they walked.
A couple more storefronts down, they arrived at the grocery store Zoe had mentioned, and she stepped inside. As far as Zoe remembered from her look in her fridge that morning, all she needed to get for what she was planning to make was the cheese. So Zoe led the way over to the dairy section.

Emma walked with Zoe crossing the street and pasts a couple store fronts. She nodded and excitedly said, "Okie.", for their future lunch plans together.
They finally walked into the store and made their way to the dairy section. Emma picked up the cheeses she decided to use. She chose a bag of mozzerella, some ricotta, and a bag of real grated parmesan (not that powdered crap in the green plastic bottle). She also grabbed a small bottle of half and half. Maybe she'd try a creamy tomato sauce too.
She waited for Zoe to finish grabbing her cheese and was almost ready to leave.
After Valentine's Day, Blaine had decided to pull out a few more cookbooks. Though the...cookies...he'd made didn't look that good, they went over well, and he thought he could surprise Lee by teaching himself how to cook and making dinner for her sometime. But that would take practice. Lots of practice. Skye, however, was against the entire thing, and on top of refusing to be on fire extinguisher duty, didn't even want to be in the same vicinity when Blaine was cooking. Though she did sweetly promise to be on the lookout for smoke.
She was family, but her attitude was something else sometimes. He didn't even know if she'd even been joking. But...he guessed not. So, he found himself walking into the grocery store, one hand grabbing a basket while the other held a scrap of paper with a list scrawled onto it. He'd grabbed a pack of chicken breast, some noodles, broccoli and carrots, and various seasonings. Then, he looked down at the last item on his list: cheese. Making his way to the cheeses, the large gentleman froze, looking at all the different kinds.
"Well s***...." he grumbled, looking down. Then, shrugging, he grabbed some Mozarella, some Cheddar, some Parmesan, and some cream cheese. Hey, one of them had to be right. Then, he paused, looking blankly into space as he wondered if there was anything else he needed.
Once they got to the dairy section in the store, it really didn’t take Zoe long to grab what she needed. Now she knew what she was making, already had most of the ingredients that she needed, so all she had to do was grab some ricotta and a block of cheddar.
It was as she was turning back to Emma to see if the other woman was ready that she saw a tall man with long hair standing nearby. Apparently quite confused by what he saw in the refrigerated display.
Glancing over at Emma briefly, Zoe turned back to look at the man. ”You need help?” she asked. ”You look a little confused.”

Emma looked over her shoulder as as Zoe spoke, adjusting her items in her arm. She saw that Zoe was trying to help him, but what Emma noticed was just how buff this guy was. He had muscles on top of muscles. "How often does he work out? Maybe he kickboxes and can help me knock some of this rust off.", she thought. She also made a mental note to ask him about the gym he goes to.
Emma noticed that he was grabbing like one of every cheese there. He obviously either really likes cheese or doesn't know which one to use for his recipe. Emma asked, "What are you trying to cook? Maybe we could help."
She walked over towards him and noticed the scrap of paper in his hand, "Is that your recipe or list for ingredients?" He looked sort of intimidating and had a tough guy face, other than his look of being confused. She noticed that her hand also started to tingle as she got close to him. He has something too that she could get from him, but she tried to resist touching him. She had to figure the rest of this skill thing she had out, but that tingling was getting on her nerves. She had to learn how to control it.
Suddenly there was a woman's voice breaking through his train of thought. "Yeah...I was going to try cooking chicken alfredo, but I'd just written down 'cheese.' I have no idea what kind," he explained as another woman's voice joined in. "It's just the shopping list. The recipe, I left at home," he said.
He realized he was easily the biggest person in the store right now, yet he looked like a lost puppy. Honestly, that did a number on his pride, an issue he hadn't really had in a while. Not since he'd been with Lee, anyway. But he was still not a very humble man. Then again, with his background, he hadn't had a reason to be.
But this was a rather humbling experience. Oh well, maybe it would be over soon enough. Though he felt a trip to the gym would be in order later. Maybe this was why he hit things instead of cooked.
Chicken alfredo sounded good. Zoe smiled. Maybe she’d have to make up some sauce today as well for her to use later in the week. ”For that, you’ll need parmesan,” Zoe told him, trying to glance into his basket to see what he had in there. ”Sometimes I’ll throw a little something extra in there, but if this is your first time, you’d be better off to stick with just the parmesan.”
Or, Zoe continued to think, make two smaller lasagnas, using alfredo sauce in one of them and the ricotta and cheddar in the other.
But the man was still looking rather lost Zoe thought as she looked up at him from the contents in his basket. ”Do you have everything else you needed to grab to make the chicken alfredo?” She ended up asking. With how confused he looked, it was quite possible that he had forgotten something.

Emma nodded as the guy explained what he was making and that he just had the shopping list with him. He still looked confused and unsure of himself, Emma reassured him and said, "It's okay. I always feel kinda uneasy or unsure when I'm making something for the first time. Heck, Zoe here helped me out at the market with something to cook for my Mom. We are getting stuff for a veggie lasagna and I've never made it before either. I just hope it turns out well and she likes it."
Then, Zoe began telling him to use parmesan cheese for his chicken alfredo dish. Parmesan was good to use and Emma nodded as she was telling him, but she also added, "Personally, I like a little mozzerella in my chicken alfredo in addition to using the parmesan. But I like to use multiple cheeses to help marry the ingredients together. I like parmesan for the flavor and the mozzerella for the creamy and stringy texture that goes so well with pasta. That's the great thing about cooking though, you can try so many different things with the same recipe to match the flavors and textures that you like."
Emma paused as Zoe then asked him about if there were other things he needed to find. When Zoe was finished speaking, Emma asked, "By the way, I know this is totally off subject, but where do you go to workout? I've been looking for a good gym to go to since I'm relatively new in town and wanted to find somewhere to brush up on my kickboxing. Maybe even find someone to spar with a bit or an advanced class I could get into. Think you could help me out?"
Emma hoped he would tell her at least that much. Heck, she'd like to take him on. He may look intimidating and maybe even get a few hits in on her, but she would learn something from him. That is, if he did fighting like that. For all she knew, he could have just been a guy who liked to hit the bench and squat racks. But Emma started to look at his hands and the way he held himself. She saw those tell tell signs on his hands where there was wear and tear done to his knuckles. He was definitely a fighter. She would even bet money on it.
He nodded as the first woman spoke. "Yep. I picked up a jar of sauce, just in case. Tried to get enough for two in case I screw up," he said with a slight shrug. "I'm not a cook," he explained quite plainly.
He looked in his basket as the second woman spoke--noting that the first woman's name was Zoe. He had plenty of cheeses, though the cream cheese he'd stick back on the shelf later. He also took mental notes of what she was saying, and if it worked with the recipe he had at home, he may deviate just a little. But not too much; the last thing he needed was something that only he could eat. Or worse, have to pull out the fire extinguisher. Again. "Thanks," he said simply.
And then the subject turned away from cooking and to working out. That was more of a comfort zone for him. With more of a smile, he answered. "The one I go to is maybe a thirty minute walk from here. There's trainers, and plenty of people who could spar with you."
If Lee wasn't pregnant, he would have suggested sweet talking her into sparring with the woman. Not that he thought Lee wouldn't wipe the floor with her or anything, but still. Kickboxing was right up his alley, though. Most, if not all, of his strikes were rooted in kickboxing, but he did have some other styles woven in for takedowns and submission holds. It was always important to be more complex than you looked, after all.
Zoe just nodded in agreement when Emma said that she’d helped with the idea for the veggie lasagna. Well, it was true. And while Zoe was by no means a professional cook, she was pretty sure that she was the most experienced of the three of them standing there. Something that was confirmed when the man said that he wasn’t a cook.
”Not to be pessimistic, but that might be a good idea,” Zoe told him. ”Alfredo sauce really doesn’t taste very good when it’s burnt.”
And then Emma was was asking the man about working out and his gym. Something that Zoe generally wasn’t very interested in, though with a glance at the man, it was pretty obvious it must be something that he was interested in.
Zoe just kind of stood there while Emma and the man, Blaine he introduced himself as, talked about working out and gyms. Not something that generally drew Zoe’s attention or interest. Once there’s a pause in the conversation, especially since he had introduced himself, she realized that she should do the same. ”Sorry, I seem to be pretty bad at this part. I’m Zoe.”

Emma introduced herself as well, "I'm Emma. And I'm not a professional cook or anything, but I can make a few things. If you keep trying at baking and cooking, then you'll learn how something should be done and how to deviate from the recipe with ingredients or seasonings you like better. It's all about practice. Much like when you work out and are learning new moves. You'll get it."
When Blaine said he got jarred alfredo sauce and got extra in case he messed up, Zoe spoke and Emma agreed with her about it being a good idea. She also added, "That's how I started out and still do sometimes. I'm not brave enough yet to try making alfredo sauce from scratch, but I have made tomato sauce from scratch and baked goods from scratch now when I have the energy and decide to not take the lazy way out. I've burnt many a things over the years learning how to cook." She laughed a little at herself, hoping to help Blaine feel better about cooking.
Emma smiled excitedly as he shared that he did know of a gym she could go to. "Do you think you could show me where it's at? Maybe I could even spar with you once I get back into my routine. You could probably show me a few pointers.", she said playfully.
