The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Jason shuddered at her touch; she was good at making him do that. His hands wrapped around her, one hand tangling in her hair as the other slid down to find the zipper on her dress, slowly dragging it down.
After a moment, and the zipper had gone as far down as it could, he pulled back, but only just enough to break the kiss. "Shouldn't we go somewhere more...comfortable?" he murmured softly, but then leaned in to close the gap once again.
Feeling Jason’s one hand in her hair, his other hand on her back, slowly moving the zipper downward, his hand skimming on and off of her bare skin as it went, Lee moaned into the kiss as the same time she managed to get his belt undone.
Then he was leaning back, speaking. Lee opened her eyes to look at him, but it was hard to focus, he was still so close that she could feel his lips moving as he spoke.
Somewhere more comfortable? That was certainly one option, Lee thought. But she didn’t have the chance to say anything about his question, because as soon as the words were out of his mouth, Jason had leaned forward once more and was kissing her again.
That worked too, Lee thought as she dove back into the kiss as she lifted the hand that had been working on the belt to circle around Jason’s neck.

He gave another shudder as he felt her hand on his neck, and he smiled lightly behind the kiss. He didn't know why he'd leaned back in, but at this point, it didn't really matter. His hand that wasn't in her hair danced along her back, gently trailing her spine and pushing the dress down little by little.
Finally, he pulled away, gently taking her hand and leading her--rather briskly--over to the bed.
On his face, there was a smile. He never thought she'd be at his apartment the first time, and now they were....well they were attempting a relationship, for lack of a better term. Neither of them knew what the hell they were doing, but...he was happy. Sure they couldn't keep their hands off of each other, but considering how this whole thing had started, that wasn't surprising, was it?
Feeling Jason’s hand on her back, his fingers gently trailing down her spine,Lee shivered. It was almost as though her skin were hypersensitive.
And then Jason was pulling away, grabbing her hand. And pulling her rather quickly toward the bed. Lee grinned, easily following along with him, squeezing Jason’s hand as they went. This was turning out to be a damn good date, Lee couldn’t help but think as they came to a stop at the edge of the bed.
Since Jason had already unzipped her dress, it didn’t take much for Lee to slip it off her shoulders, only letting go of Jason’s hand for a moment to let her dress pool at her feet. Then Lee raised her arms to circle around Jason’s neck, stretching up to kiss him again.

Jason smiled as they were kissing yet again, only this time close enough to the bed. His arms wrapped around her again, his hands sliding and dancing along her back before one came to rest on her back, the other in her hair. He backed up against the bed, slowly letting himself fall back....
*fade to black*
Jason sprawled across the bed, a soft smile on his face as he felt Lee's body next to his. He'd been so much happier since meeting her, and he was even happier now that they were dating. Or...trying to date, since neither of them really had a clue. But even still, it was nice. Sliding a little closer to her, his eyes slid closed as he slowly drifted off to sleep.
As Lee laid next to Jason in bed, she couldn’t help but smile happily. If she wasn’t mistaken, things had been even better than the first night they were together. If nothing else, continuing to see Jason seemed to be making things in bed even better.
Feeling Jason moving a bit closer to her, Lee rolled onto her side, head on his shoulder, as she snuggled up to him. And this, Lee thought again, this was nice. It was certainly a lot nicer than getting up and leaving like she had always done with guys before. She could definitely get used to this.
If only she didn’t have so much energy that she could barely lay there.
It didn’t take long for Jason to fall asleep from that point. Lee heard his breathing slowing and evening out, felt his body relaxing beside her. Lee could only lay there for about five more minutes before it was too much. Pushing herself up on her elbow, looking down at Jason’s sleeping form, Lee only hesitated a moment before kissing Jason on the cheek. Then Lee was slipping out of the bed, grabbing Jason’s shirt off the floor on the way, she made her way over to the stereo. Making sure that it wasn’t too loud, Lee turned it on. The first disk...Yeah, no. Elton John may be Jason’s ‘guilty pleasure’, but it wasn’t hers. Hitting the button to change disks, Lee listened for a few moments before nodding. Shinedown, much better.
With a sigh, Lee turned to look around the apartment. Now the question was what to do with herself until Jason woke up. And, while the activities they had taken part in more than made it worth the energy she now had to deal with, it didn’t make the next few hours any easier.
As she glanced around the apartment, Lee’s eyes fell on Jason’s desk. There had been some interesting things in there, she remembered. Things that she hadn’t been able to finish looking at before.
At least it would kill time, Lee reasoned. Making her way over to the desk, Lee looked over at the bed to make sure Jason was still asleep as she sat down. Quickly, Lee checked the top right drawer, but as she expected, it was locked. Turning her eyes to the top of the desk, Lee found the key under the laptop as it was the last time. It didn’t take long for Lee to unlock the drawer and open it to pull the papers out.
The first two letters, she had already read, so Lee set them aside. Scanning the third letter, Lee saw that it was more of the same, and she couldn’t help but smile as she looked across the room at Jason’s sleeping form. He really was doing some good things, wasn’t he?
Next, Lee turned to the newspaper article, and Lee’s smile slid from her face as she read. Now this was not nearly as good, she thought. But the article from three years earlier did have a picture of Jason. And also a picture of the mutant apparently killed in police custody. A mutant who, the article said, was Jason’s cousin. No wonder he had come to New York.
Reaching back into the drawer, Lee pulled the picture out and leaned back in the chair. Though he was younger, one of the boys was definitely Jason, and he looked so happy and carefree. Sighing, Lee just sat there and looked at the picture for a few minutes. Only setting the picture down on the desk in front of her after she realized that she had started singing.
Taking another glance over at Jason to make sure that he was still asleep as ‘Simple Man’ played in the background. Her eyes slipping closed as she sat there, Lee continued to sing, not realizing as she started to sing even louder.

Jason stirred a little at the faint sound of music, but he drifted right back to sleep. But that didn't last very long as he heard...well it was definitely Shinedown, but something else accompanied it that he hadn't heard before. Something beautiful that overpowered the room and caused his eyes to open. Seeing it was Lee, he smiled, sitting up in bed, and then after putting his glasses on...seeing where she was...and what she had....his smile dropped. But she hadn't noticed him yet.
With a grunt, pushed himself to his feet, not bothering to get dressed as he walked over to her, looking down at the picture and the article. He didn't say anything as he reread the article, staring at the picture.
"I see you found my little secret," he said with a sad sigh after the song ended. "I haven't looked at that picture or article in a long time....but I like to read the letters from time to time. Before I met you...that's actually what kept me going," he admitted softly, biting his lip.
"And it's a story I've never told...." his eyes had sort of a forlorn look to them as he spoke, leaning on the desk.
Lee didn’t hear the grunt as Jason pushed himself up in bed. Nor did she see him standing up, her eyes were still closed as she sang. As they normally ended up being when she really sang. In fact, Lee was so wrapped up in the music that she didn’t even feel Jason’s energy growing stronger, didn’t feel herself siphoning more.
In fact, Lee didn’t realize that Jason had even woken up until she heard him speaking from right beside her. Lee jumped in the chair as her eyes shot open. She had planned on putting everything back in the drawer before he woke up, just like the last time, so he wouldn’t know that she had seen it.
Then she was standing up, the chair pushing back behind her, as Lee saw the look on Jason’s face. But what was she supposed to say? She couldn’t exactly say she was sorry for snooping, because she wasn’t.
Lifting her hand to Jason’s cheek, she turned his head gently to look at her. ”What you’ve done,” she said softly. ”What you’re doing, it’s amazing. Honestly, I wish I could be even partially as much help to people, to other mutants, as you are.”

He nodded as she spoke, putting a hand on her shoulder. "Yeah, but that's kind of why I do what I do now," he said, flashing a small smile. "Granted, that article doesn't do the situation any justice. Like almost everything else these days, it's written in a very anti-mutant point of view. If you want to hear the whole story...well, I can share it with you," he said, moving to take a seat in the chair she'd abandoned. He looked down at the article, taking a breath.
"See, growing up, I was abused for being a mutant, and so was my cousin...so we'd become close, and when I graduated, I took him to Atlanta to live with me while I joined the police force there. He found less than savory means of making a living, and I endured a lot of anti-mutant crap even though they never knew what I was. One day, almost four years ago, there was a call. What they called a code M. Mutant disturbance. I got there just in time to see Ty being gunned down by the police, in an act that made the news. He wasn't doing anything but trespassing; there was no need to shoot him, but....they did anyway."
He paused as his eyes started to sting, and he bit his lip. "After he was identified, it came out that he was my cousin, and I was treated even worse by my colleagues. So....I packed up and moved to New York. I used my knowledge of law to become a private investigator, and I spend most of my efforts helping people, especially mutants. That way I'm able to do for them, what I couldn't do for him...."
As Jason sat down in the desk chair that she had been sitting in, Lee moved slightly to lean against the desk near him to listen. Though this wasn’t how she had wanted to find out more about him, and this wasn’t how she had wanted him to tell her more about him, the fact was that he was opening up.
And, in a way, she could relate to how Jason had felt growing up. She hadn’t been abused, simply neglected and shunned. But she hadn’t had the benefit of growing up close to someone else who was a mutant.
That was far from the worst of it, though. Lee’s eyes widened in shock as Jason explained how he had arrived just in time to see his fellow cops shooting his cousin. Simply because he was a mutant. And they treated him worse simply because he was related to a mutant, they didn’t even know he was one himself.
Pushing herself away from the desk, Lee sat down on Jason’s lap and wrapped her arms around him. ”I am so sorry, Jason,” she whispered as she hugged him. ”I can’t even imagine having that happen, never mind having to see it…”

His smile weakly came back as she sat in his lap, wrapping her arms around him. He nuzzled into her gently as she spoke, just loving the fact that she was there, and that he was okay with sharing this with her. But...if they were going to work, then he couldn't hide any secrets; at least that's how he saw the whole thing, anyway.
"Yeah...it was. That haunts me to this day; part of why I get insomnia. Why I took to drowning my sorrows." he looked at her with a smile, kissing her lips gently. "But, when I'm with you, all that seems to change. I can actually sleep without getting blackout drunk. I'm actually...happy."
Lee was glad when Jason's arms wrapped around her as she sat on his lap. If nothing else, it told her that he wasn't particularly upset.
As Jason told her that with her there, he was actually able to sleep, a strange mix of a smile and frown curled her lips. ”You know, that could just be my powers helping you fall asleep,” she said softly. Then she got a slightly bigger smile. ”Though, I'm happier, too.”

He chuckled lightly, rubbing her back gently. "Yeah, it might be, but either way, it's still you, ain't it?" he asked with a charming smile. "And if we're both happy, then we're doing something right, I'd say."
He smiled again, relaxing in the chair. He never thought he'd be comfortable sharing his story like this, but...he had to admit he was okay with Lee knowing. Even if she'd been snooping.
When Lee heard Jason laugh, she looked down at him carefully. And stared into his eyes as he spoke a moment later. ”You really don't care about what my powers do to you, so you?” Lee asked in a whisper. It was still hard for Lee to wrap her head around, that maybe Jason really didn't mind, didn't care. Because of he didn't, he was the first who didn't.
But as he continued speaking, Lee couldn't help but smile. ”I guess it does,” Lee agreed softly. Then she grinned at Jason. ”I guess it's a good thing I let you talk me into all this, isn't it?”
Then Lee leaned in to give Jason a soft kiss before reading her forehead against his and just sitting there for a moment.
And thankfully, Lee thought as she felt his hand on her back, Jason didn't seem to be upset that she was snooping. ”So, was there anything else you had planned for us to do tonight? Dinner was very good, by the way.”

He shook his head with a smile, adjusting his glasses a little. "I really don't. Because I care more about what you as a person, do to me. And if you leave me a crumpled heap on the floor as a result....then so be it," he smiled. He leaned into her a little as he sighed happily. "[color=lightgreen}Yeah...it does,[/color]" he murmured.
And then she kissed him again, and their foreheads rested together, and he smiled. "Well....I hadn't planned on anything past dessert. We've been winging it up til now," he said with a smirk.
