The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

It was hard to admit sometimes that one needed to quit. Javier was not proud of it, but it was something that went with his GAD; when things got overwhelming, it was better to get out than to try to power his way through it. And besides, as much as he wanted to stay at the con, a lot of it now was going to be cleanup and police investigation. He was not sure he was ready for that.
>>”Yeah, of course. Don’t worry about. There’s always another con. And even some where murderous mutants are running amok, promise.”
Javier nodded with a small smile. Of course Booker understood. He was a very empathic guy. Javier knew that this fight at the con was an exception to the rule; maybe another con, another time, they could just spend a day looking at merchandise and taking pictures.
>>”Umm, if you want you can always come back to my place. I don’t live far from here and it’s the closest I can think of for you to clean up. Trust me, after a con, I tend to need a shower too.”
Well that was... going to people's places generally made Javier anxious about a lot of things, from tracking mud in all the way to seeing things he was not supposed to see. But he was not sure he would make it all the way back home alone, and going somewhere quiet and private to clean up just sounded to good to pass up. Plus, it was Booker. He had a way of putting Javi at ease.
"Yes, that sounds good... if it's not too much trouble." he nodded, standing up. He was a little unsure on his feet, but he was sure he could make it as far as the apartment, at least.
As they walked back out of the room and towards the exit, they could see that the cleanup had already started, and MRC was all over the place. Javier would not have been surprised if the X-men showed up too.
"This is going to be all over the news..." he sighed, thinking of the people taking videos of the whole thing. "Should we, like... talk to them?" He really did not feel the strength to, but Javier liked to follow the rules, and as a witness...
Booker was worried about Javier but he deep down he knew that whatever the tailor was feeling, it shouldn’t be more than just normal fatigue, especially after having concrete fall on you. Even with reliable super strength, it was bound to bruise the poor man. Therefore, Booker was fine taking a leave from this con. It wasn’t the first experience that he wanted for the tailor, so it was probably best that they cut it short before things get too out of hand. Therefore, he offered his apartment. It wasn’t far from this location and it would allow the tailor to rest in privacy and comfort as opposed to trying to guide him all the way back to his own place -- though, granted, Booker didn’t know where Javier lived and, if in fact, his own place was actually closer. The lack of argument from Javier was enough to show the librarian that his offer was probably the best solution.
>>"Yes, that sounds good... if it's not too much trouble."
He snorted. ”No...of course not,” he said with a charming smile. ”I mean, I guess it’s like least I can do for bringing you someplace where you nearly died,” he chuckled awkwardly and then shut his mouth. ”Sorry, totally not the right time to laugh about that.” He helped Javier to his feet and started to guide him out of the hall and back into the rest of the building.
All they had to do was cross through the halls and find the exit. How hard could that be?
Okay, so when there is a massive event like this that results in millions of dollars of destruction and the harm and loss of innocent life, the authorities tend to respond rather quickly. When Booker stepped out from the doors, he was surprised to see the hustle and bustle of everyone involved: security was debriefing the police, detectives seemed to be milling about everywhere (clearly the MRC), and fans were either cringing in fear or taking selfies. One apparent fangirl was screaming gleefully at one the detectives investigating the scene.
”OH MY GOD! CERVANTES! I WANT TO HAVE YOUR BABIES!!!”
The detective seemingly ignored this and continued on with his work.
Booker shook his head, trying to find a spot in all the chaos were he and Javier could get out and back into the street. The convention was even more crowded now, people cramming together to get as close to the scene as possibly. Sometimes his community could really be comprised of the stupidest people. But as he came to a standstill, looking for a way out, Booker stopped when Javier gestured back to all the cops.
>>"This is going to be all over the news...Should we, like... talk to them?"
In all fairness it was probably something that they should do but that didn’t mean that they had to. Really, what could they offer to the cops? Flying Fox, as Booker could see, was already being handcuffed by the MRC and his parent would be found soon enough, if not by the cops then certainly by the X-Men. It honestly almost seemed moot to the librarian, especially when his concern was getting a clearly overwhelmed Javier out of this place. So, he shook his head.
”I think they’ll be fine without us,” Booker replied. ”Besides, I doubt either of us on in the shape required to sit and wait as long as they’ll probably need us to. Let’s get you to my place and, once things settle, we’ll figure out what we want to do then, deal?” He smiled. He then felt something warm in his hand and looked down to see that he was holding Javier’s. Huh. When did that happen? The librarian didn’t shy away from it, though, and instead continued to look for the best possible path out of here. When he found one he turned back to the tailor, another encouraging grin on his lips. ”You good to go?”
