The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Almost got popped for a fight with a thug (Blaine)
"Well, you did ask what I did," he said with a small chuckle. "And for the most part, that's it." He sort of looked at the television in silence for awhile, not really sure what to do now as the silence sort of set in. He focused on the show, noting that the silence wasn't exactly awkward this time.
In just the past few hours, he'd come a lot farther than he had in the entire rest of his life. This was nice. Comfortable. He was actually relaxing and having a decent conversation with someone else. He propped his feet up on the coffee table, watching out for the bottles and the coffee cup.
"This has been....refreshing," he murmured, still looking at the TV. "Thanks. For just being here."
”That's true, I did,” Lee said softly, smiling over at Blaine. But as she continued sitting there, moving her gaze between the sketches and tv, Lee thought. She really thought about what had happened and been said that night. She had started out by pointing out the fact that it was possible for even people like them to have relationships. Somehow, over the intervening hours, her words had changed from a hypothetical relationship to done sounding more like she was talking about with her. That…
Well, it wasn't the worst idea in the world, Lee thought as she absently continued to flip through the drawings. Because really, who would know better what kind of patience, how small the baby steps would have to be, than someone who had been through a similar situation? And she hadn't ever really thought of being with anyone else after Tarin. Jay had been a fluke, she had never thought of doing anything like that, so a relationship with Blaine would still be more than she had thought would happen.
By the time Blaine spoke again, Lee jumped slightly she had been so lost in her thoughts. Looking over as his words filtered into her mind, Lee smiled to see that he was looking more relaxed than she had seen him yet. ”You're quite welcome,” Lee replied softly.
Blaine smiled softly, his gaze shifting from Lee to the television and back. His mind was still slightly buzzing as he continued to rehash everything she'd said that night. She'd definitely given him a lot to think about; perhaps too much, once he thought about it. The whole relationship thing was still so foreign to him, and honestly, he thought it'd never work. It couldn't, could it?
On the other hand, he didn't know. Maybe it could, with the right person. But it'd take patience from both him and whoever it would be. He scooted a little closer before looking at her in the eyes.
"So what about you?" he asked. "What do you like to do?"
Lee just happened to be looking over when Blaine started moving, so she sat there and watched him, her legs still tucked beside her. And she saw him actually moving closer to her on the couch. That brought an unbidden smile to Lee's face.
Then he asked what she likes to do. ”Music,” Lee said simply. Then she realized that maybe she should elaborate a bit. ”These days, it's mostly just listening to music, don't have a whole lot of time to myself being a single mum. But when I get the chance I like to play guitar.”
He listened as she explained how she could play guitar, but didn't have a lot of time, being a single mother and all. "Music is great, though I'm mostly restricted to listening, myself. Not that that's a bad thing, I just never got around to learning how to play anything." Thinking about it, he realized that in most areas, his mutation didn't hinder him at all; he could do the same things other people did, he just had to think of different ways to do it. Contact with other people was really the only thing he hadn't figured out.
After a few moments, he gathered the empty beer bottles and his coffee cup, then stood to his feet and carried them into the kitchen. The cup, he tossed into the sink, and the bottles went into the trash. Though he was very careful to maintain his grip while walking. Usually it wasn't that hard, but tonight he had other things on his mind.
Once finished, he sat back down on the couch next to her, sort of growing to enjoy her company by now.
That was good, Lee couldn’t help but think, when Blaine said that music was great. Despite everything else, they might have had problems if Blaine had not liked music. But he had never gotten around to learning how to play anything?
Before she had been able to say anything, Blaine was up clearing the table. So Lee sat and thought as she looked at the TV. The guitar would probably be problematic, after initially learning, Lee had depended on feeling the strings under her fingers as she played rather than looking at every fingering.
It really didn’t take long for Blaine to the living room and sit back down beside her. ”I also play piano and sing,” Lee went on to say after a moment, looking over at Blaine. ”Years of lessons when I was a kid. All I have now is a cheap little keyboard to teach Kevin on, but if you ever wanted to...:”
Lee let the question trail off. She didn’t even know if he would be interested. At least this way, if he wasn’t, Blaine wouldn’t have to say anything about it, but at the same time if he did want to learn, was interested in her teaching him, the offer was there.
"That, I can see," he commented idly, sliding so he was as close to her as before. Sure, it didn't do much for him, but she seemed to like it. He nodded as she mentioned the piano, but then after a moment of thinking, he spoke again. "Music is another one of those weird ones. It relies on feeling, on sound, and on sight. I'd consider it a challenge, but I don't often back that from those," he stated as he looked over, a slight gleam in his eyes.
Then, he had a thought. Maybe if he saw a relationship as another challenge....he'd be motivated to do it. But at the same time,he enjoyed moments like this, the thought of being committed to another person sort of scared him; the idea of having someone that he could let down at any given moment. He was still convinced that he was better off alone, even if Lee was giving him doubts about that right now.
Finally, he broke his silence. "Is this what it'd be like? A relationship, I mean..." he asked thoughtfully as he looked over at her. The way he asked was almost like an overgrown child. "It's been over a decade, and I told you how those went," he said with a weary laugh.
Lee did not fail to notice that Blaine slid closer to her on the couch, back to the small distance between them they had had before he stood up. Despite what he said, Lee knew that he was trying.
”You're right, music does depend on feeling,” Lee said, her tone soft yet serious. ”But just as much as feeling the instrument, probably even more so if you're doing it right, you feel it here.” As she spoke, Lee lifted her hand and trapped her fingers against Blaine's chest.
And it was only as her fingers touched his skin and she felt the energy flowing through the contract that Lee realized that Blaine was shirtless and she had just tapped her fingers against his bare chest.
Instantly, a slight blush rose over her cheeks, though it took a moment longer for her hand to move away. ”Sorry, I didn't mean…” Lee whispered, eyes quickly moving to the tv as her hand dropped to her lap. But the blush didn't go anywhere. ”I just meant that playing music should be emotional, that you should feel it that way.”
But was this what a relationship would be like? Lee nodded as she glanced back at Blaine. ”A lot of the time, yeah. We'd talk, we'd hang out. Watch movies, eat, have a few drinks sometimes.”
He listened as she spoke, giving a slight nod. "Emotional, I can manage," he murmured; after all, that was the only feeling he actually had. He saw her tap her fingers against his bare chest, and he saw her face flush red. "It's okay. Doesn't really mean anything to me, ya know? Don't worry about it," he said softly, wondering what it must have felt like.
"I understand." Then, she answered his question about relationships and he noticed something he hadn't before. Maybe she'd been doing it the whole time, but he was oblivious up until this very moment. "You said 'we,'" he murmured softly, though not really showing any distaste on the matter. In fact, there may have been a slight smirk on his face as he looked at her.
Blaine said not to worry about how she had tapped him on his chest, how it didn't mean anything to him. Lee didn't know how it could mean nothing to him. Sure, he couldn't feel it, but how did it mean nothing that she had just touched his bare chest.
But either way, Blaine said that he understood about the emotional nature of playing music, and Lee nodded.
Lee had thought she had done a good job telling Blaine about what a relationship would consist of the majority of the time, whether for him out for anyone. Bit one thing that she hadn't realized, and one thing that Blaine had caught and asked about, was how she has used the word ‘we’. Again Lee blushed, though it wasn't as intense as the previous one. ”I did?” she asked in a whisper, glancing at Blaine before her eyes darted away again, a little embarrassed. ”I mean, it doesn't have to mean ‘us’, but…”
Lee's voice trailed off and she swallowed. No, it didn't have to mean the two of them, but it could. Slight blush still on her cheeks, Lee looked over at Blaine. No, it didn't have to mean the two of them, but Lee needed to see Blaine's reaction to the idea that it could before she said anything else.
Blaine's mutation had given him a different world-view. Sure, he knew what certain modes of contact could mean, but for him, it wasn't the same. In fact, if he hadn't been looking, he wouldn't have known.
He noted her blush when he pointed out her word usage, and it made him smile a little. Then, he looked at her. "Baby steps," he repeated gently, but then he continued. "But if it helps...you do have a better chance than anyone else."
He smiled again, though this whole thing was a little funny to him.
Lee couldn't stop the small laugh and the smile when Blaine repeated that he would need baby steps. Though, if she were to be honest with herself and this relationship of Blaine's they were discussing did involve her, Lee realized that she would likely need baby steps too.
Glancing over at Blaine again, she saw the smile on his face. And heard his words that she stood the best chance. ”If we do try, you should probably know that this is going to be a learning experience for me too,” Lee said softly, not even realizing that her gaze dropped. ”Figuring out how much of my heart is still mine to give. If I even can love again.”
He noticed the small laugh, and the smile. He even noticed her gaze drop as she was speaking. Blaine found himself well into uncharted territory; he hadn't the first clue of what to say or do in a little while, but as their conversation had gone on, he found himself even more clueless. And now, he was downright stumped. Taking a breath, he put a hand on hers.
"We'd have to help each other, then. I mean, you're not sure if you can love again, and I don't know if I can love at all," he stated; though his tone was light-hearted, the words themselves were still rather heavy and dark as he spoke them. Some things, tone just couldn't help.
"If you need anything or ever just want to talk, I'm here," he murmured softly, his gaze on her softening a bit without him realizing it.
Lee blinked in surprise when she felt Blaine's hand on hers. Even though she hadn't known him for long, Lee was already realizing that this was a big step and a conscious effort for Blaine.
Looking up at Blaine's face, she smiled at him. ”Thanks Blaine,” Lee said, her smile widening a bit. Turning her hand in his, Lee held onto his hand. ”I haven't really had any to talk to about this. It really means a lot. And the same for you, if you ever need to talk, let me know.”
In the back of his mind, Blaine was hoping this whole thing wasn't a mistake, but at the same time, he remembered Lee saying that risks were a big part of it. Granted, the only things he ever really risked were money--which he could win back anyway--and his physical well-being--which he couldn't even feel. But his emotions? Those were a whole different story, something he held sacred.
"Yeah, I understand. I haven't had anyone to talk to about any of this either. And...while it's...rather confusing, to be honest, it helps." He leaned back against the couch again, sort of relaxing as he kept his hand on hers, sort of looking around the room as he was unsure of what to say or do next. He took a deep breath through his nose as he looked at her, still sort of smiling.
