The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

This conversation was getting very heavy, and very personal considering it had started as an impromptu job interview. But they seemed to understand each. Extremely well, considering they had just met.
Blaine had stayed in school, but that hasn't made things any easier for him. And Lee definitely noticed the hesitation before he called his powers a gift. ”But a lot of the time, especially back then, it feels like more of a curse, doesn't it?” Lee asked with a bit of a frown. ”Back then, I didn't have control. When is go to the movies with me brother, he'd need to take a nap before dinner he'd be so tired.”
But when he said that he liked her name, Lee's frown disappeared to be replaced with a slight smile. Much nicer to hear than talk about the early years of having powers. ”Tomorrow night?” Lee asked, then laughed slightly as she indicated the beer. ”Probably shouldn't have my security working after drinking.”
"It's a little of both, to be sure. It's nice to be able to power through things that would incapacitate most people, though," he mused. "But at the same time, I've missed out on a lot of key moments; things other people take for granted." He let his statement stand there. On the one hand, he really didn't care about the physical aspect of things, but at the same time, his mutation really decided that for him; he really didn't have a say in the matter.
"Tomorrow, I can manage," he said with a smirk. "If I'd have known it was going to go this well, I'd have gotten a water." He gave a slight chuckle, still sipping on his beer on occasion. He was going to make it last, and he wasn't going to go through that many. After all, he didn't get drunk around people, and on top of that, he sure wasn't going to do it at his new place of work.
Blaine understood, really understood, in a way that no one else Lee had ever met. She was sure that even Tarin hadn't quite understood like Blaine seemed to. He had tried, but she didn't think he ever did.
When Blaine said that he had missed out on a lot that most people took for granted, Lee simply nodded. She could understand that, at least to a point. And she was sure there there was nothing that she could say that would do anything except make it worse. So the nod would have to do.
Lee laughed when Blaine said that he'd have asked for a water if he knew things were going to go this well. ”it's not like everyday you get hired because you're a mutant so I don't blame you there.”
She may have only nodded, but there was a lot in that nod. She understood, really understood. More than anyone he had ever met before. Sometimes, it was nice just knowing he wasn't alone in the world. Everyone was born with their own curse, but sometimes, they were similar enough to provide understanding, or just the comfort of having someone who remotely knows what he was going through.
"Yeah, that's true. People never seem to start you on interview day, anyway," he said with a dry laugh, finishing off his beer and setting the empty bottle on the counter. He was done drinking for the evening; he had a strict way of doing things when he drank. When he wasn't home, he stopped at one beer, nothing more.
"Thanks for the job. And just...listening," he said after a moment.
Business seemed to understand her nod and nothing else needed to be said. Sometimes when there was understanding, that was all that was actually needed, and words could sometimes seen empty in comparison.
And it was pretty true, Lee had never started a job the day she had been hired. But then Lee noticed that Blaine had finished his beer. ”You want another?” Lee asked, taking a glance down at her own beer. Still half full, she had only been sipping shortly since she still had the whole evening and then inventory to get through.
”Any time,” Lee said with a smile. ”It's hard enough finding someone to talk to about things like this, nevermind finding someone who actually understands.”
"Nah, thanks," he said, looking down at his empty beer for a second.
"Yeah, I know. Usually the most I share about myself is the story of my failed fighting career." He gave a slight shrug before reaching into his back pocket and pulling out his wallet. Taking out a few bills, he paid her for the beer.
"Well, unless you need anything, I guess I'll see you tomorrow night. Much as I'd love to talk all night, I guess you have work to do." He gave a slight chuckle as he stood to his feet.
No more beer. Probably a good thing in reality, he had come in here looking for a job, it probably would do well to keep drinking.
”Makes sense,” Lee said softly. ”It's one thing for people to know you're a mutant, a completely different thing to know what your powers are. I don't normally tell people until I get to know them, and even then, I don't go into the pay much.”
Taking the bills, Lee moved to the tool to grab change, shaking her head at Blaine's question. ”Nothing that can't wait until tomorrow,” Lee replied as she handed over the change. ”Though, I'm really just here to make sure things run smoothly cause to be honest in a pretty crappy bartender. Most of what I need to do I have to wait for close.
He gave a nod as he pocketed his change, a couple of coins dropping to the floor in the process. He could do alright managing one hand-sized thing at a time, but sometimes things got tricky with items like coins. "Understandable. I can't do either of those things," he answered before kneeling to pick up the coins, carefully eyeing each one, then slowly and meticulously putting it between his fingers and sliding it into his pocket. It was almost like watching a crane machine, but he got both coins in his pocket before standing to his feet.
"Coins always give me trouble," he explained with a small laugh. "I'll see you tomorrow, then." With a slight wave, he turned and headed out the door. Well, that was much easier than he'd thought.
Lee didn't even notice that Blaine had dropped a couple of coins until she saw him kneel down and, leaning over the bar, saw him very deliberately and carefully, picking up one coin at a time.
Lee had a small crease between her brows by the time Blaine stood back up, saying with a small laugh that he always had trouble with coins.”Yeah, I'll see you tomorrow,” Lee said, reaching out to her beer as Blaine walked away. As her fingers touched the bottle, Lee looked down at it and frowned. Huh...
