Mutations
Mutation description: Djinn physiology - Azim is basically a djinn complete with blue skin and crackling blue energy tail. Instead of legs, he has a semi-incorporeal energy tail with the approximate length and width of natural legs and ending in a whisp where his feet would be. The tail is a slightly darker blue than his skin and resembles a blue stormcloud, complete with what resembles crackling white lightning. If touched, it offers a slight electric shock, similar to a static shock. Instead of walking or running, he floats. As djinn of myth and legend were worshipped as Gods, so too can Azim make people see him as a godlike being.
Strengths: His energy tail is only semi-corporeal. Solid objects can pass through it with an amount of resistance roughly equivalent to water. Physical weapons such as blades, clubs, bullets, ect. do no damage to his lower half.
A floating height of 1 ft can be maintained and he can ‘jump’ an additional 3 ft. Difficult terrain has no effect to speed because he floats over it.
While no speedster, he can maintain pique human running speeds without taxing his stamina. He can maintain speeds of 25 mph with stamina used being the equivalent of a causal walk.
Weaknesses and Limitations: Any non-physical damage affects his energy tail as it would his regular flesh. This can include such things as fire or various types of energy.
Bolts of energy crackling within the tail light up brightly in the darkness.
Strong winds can disperse the energy particles that make up his tail and although they will eventually reform, the more they disperse the slower he’ll be able to move. Winds of 25 mph reduce his speed by 1/4. Winds of 40 mph reduce his speed by ½. Winds of 60 mph reduce his speed by ¾. Winds of 80 mph or greater and he can’t move at all. Once returned to a calm environment, it takes up to 1 hour to reintegrate his energy particles if they have been completely dispersed and progressively less time depending on how dispersed the particles are.
He cannot exceed a speed of 25 mph.. His normal floating height is up to 1 ft off the ground and he can ‘jump’ an additional 3 feet off the ground.
The strength of his tail is the equivalent to that of normal legs for purposes of lifting and carrying.
Physical Abilities
General Physical Capabilities: Below average physical strength but above average overall stamina. Because of the lack of physical weight in his tail and therefore overall body, physical activities require slightly less exertion. For similar reasons, his lack of weight reduces his capability for feats of strength. Fighting Style: He has basic knowledge of weapons, primarily swords and bows.
Fighting Style Pros/Cons: In a pinch, he knows how to defend himself. He has far less knowledge of fighting without the use of weapons.
History Of Your Character Azim was originally born to a nice Indian couple in New York city but he really doesn’t know about any of that. A small blue baby, there could be no denying the fact that he was a mutant. Were his birth parents the sort to nurture and care for their mutant son despite his unusual nature? Were they the type to hate and shun all mutants and especially the creature they, themselves had birthed? He would never have the opportunity to discover the answers to those questions.
As an infant, Azim was kidnapped by members of the Radiant, a small, isolated mutant supremacist that operated as a branch of Pantheon of Sollaria.. Raised in relative isolation near the Canada/US border, he knew nothing of his birth family and little outside the the cult itself. The community numbered a few dozen, with just under a dozen other children both born to members of the cult itself and kidnapped in a similar fashion as he, himself had been. Only those raised to the status of elder were permitted to leave and interact with the outside world, purchasing or otherwise acquiring any resources they were not able to procure for themselves.
Despite lacking in contact with the outside world, the elders ensured that all the children were well educated. They were taught reading, writing, math and basic history, although with a decidedly pro-mutant and anti-human slant. In addition, all children were trained in the use of their powers and the use of a sword and bow and arrow. While not a militaristic cult, there was always a sense of fear that one day the human government would try to eradicate them and they needed to be able to defend themselves against just such a contingency.
Within Radiant society, those with visible mutations were held in a position of honour and prestige. To have your mutation be something visible was to be marked for greatness. Azim, born with blue skin and later to develop his energy tail, as just such a mutant. He, along with a girl, also abducted as an infant, were the two children who held this status. Silver, who was a year older than Azim, was born was silver skin which glowed brightly when she used her powers. Azim and Silver were among the closest of friends and were rarely found apart from one another..
While his childhood could not be considered bad, necessarily, it was very different than that of most children. Raised entirely among the Radiants, he was indoctrinated at a young age that mutants were the superior race and humans were on their way out. Eventually, they would become extinct ant mutant would rule the earth. In the meantime, they were a threat akin to a dangerous and unpredictable animal. There was affection among the Radiants but also a constant undertone of fear, not only that the humans might, at any day attack, but also of the leader himself and doing anything to displease him.
As with any good cult leader, theirs, who went by the name Dread, was charismatic and charming. With the ability to manipulate feelings of fear and safety, his enemies could be brought to their knees with a glance and his friends could never feel a greater sense of belonging or safety. The Radiant’s lived for his approval and greatly feared his displeasure.
Being older, Silver first manifested her gift prior to Azim’s. With the ability transfer her consciousness into that of a bird, she gained the freedom to leave their little village, controlling her bird host and seeing and hearing through its senses. For the first time, she was able to experience the wonders of the outside world and, as much as she could, she shared those wonders with her friend. Azim’s own powers developed over the course of an uncomfortable couple of months as his legs slowly lost cohesion and struggled to support the rest of his weight. For a time, he was wheelchair bound, unable to walk but not yet able to propel himself through the use of his power. Upon the discovery of the true nature of his power, there was great rejoicing. After this auspicious moment, he chose the mutant name Djinn for himself.
Had he not been so closer to Silver and had she not been so vocal about her observations of the outside world, he might have remained among the Radiants for his entire life. This was not to be the case, however. It was only a matter of time before Dread heard tell of Silver’s forbidden actions and once heard she was punished horribly. Tortured and terrored all the younger members of the cult were forced to watch as a lesson, lest they too chose to be disobedient. Mere weeks after Azim left the cult forever.
Stowing away in the back of a van headed towards civilization in order to pick up supplies, he made his way towards the city of New York. Despite begging Silver to come with him, she refused but did help him with the name of the X-Men and the Mansion, which was said to take in mutants who needed help. With that information and nothing more than what he could carry in a backpack, he ventured into a new and unknown life.
Roleplay Where did you learn about this site?: Originally Google, a very long time ago. Do you have any other characters on MRO, if so who: Amber and Darkshift Sample RP: The last remnant of everything Azim had ever known had just driven off into the distance, leaving him stranded on the side of the road. Excitement warred with panic within him, panic being the stronger force, just at that moment. His entire life had been spent living with mutants and now he was about the do the hardest thing he’d ever done by trying to enter the human world. Hell, he’d never even met a human before unless you counted Silver telling her glorious stories. Which he didn’t. Not really. May Solarrus not judge him too harshly for the choice he’d made.
Alone and with little more than his clothing and whatever he could fit in his bag, he started forward down the road and towards the city. Cars zoomed by in either direction and he didn’t have the knowledge needed to understand that there were ways he might be able to hitch a ride with one of them. With every meter he travelled forward, his trepidation grew. What had he been thinking? How could he survive without his family? How could they just allow him to leave like this? Wasn’t he supposed to be destined for greatness? That’s what everyone had always told him. To none of those questions did he have answers.
At first the land near the road remained fairly scarce, but gradually that changed as gas stations, corner stores and other buildings began popping up. Even these few signs of civilization were almost too overwhelming to continue, having never been in a proper city before. To leave the enclave was forbidden and yet, here he was, doing the unthinkable. Trying to quell the frantic beating of his heart, the knowledge that he could never return to the place and the people he called home lay heavy in his chest. This was the only option. He’d made his choice and would now have to live with it.
