The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

He didn't want to touch her because she was a mutant? Yeah, but not for the reasons she was implying.
He laughed. There was just nothing else he could do in the situation. It was one of those humorless 'oh god this is my life now' laughs.
"I don't want to cripple you or whatever. If I got too close... I don't know how you react and you made it sound not good." By the ten, Lee had seen some things if she jumped straight to 'because she was a mutant.' "I have touched, god, you don't even want to know what I've touched as a medical technician, let alone on the emergent side of things. A mutant wouldn't be the worst, and you as a mutant? Not even the first. So no. I don't not wanna touch you 'cause of your genetic makeup." He was stomping out that dumpsterfire of an accusation straight away.
Her confidence level on his situation was not great, but it was interesting to hear her talk about fields and adapteds and all off that. Every specialization had its specific vernacular. It was just weird to think that any of those labels applied to him.
"Is there somebody else who might know? Someone, maybe, on the less murdery side of the legal spectrum?"
Lee’s entire body relaxed, her position and expression softening, when she heard AJ say that he didn’t want to touch her because he was worried about what he would do to her. ”I think you’re the first person to ever think that way about touching me,” Lee said with a smile. ”But nothing will happen if you were to touch me. At least nothing serious, nothing to worry about. That other time was...Let’s just call it a very extreme situation.
“The worst that’ll happen here, especially with how small your field is, is that I’ll feel off balance. Kind of like missing a step, or when you can’t smell anything. It’s weird, but nothing major.”
And he had touched things that he thought she wouldn’t even want to know about. Lee knew that she’d seen a lot more than AJ ever would guess, and based on things that she’d seen in the past...yeah, she didn’t need any of those described. But mutants were far from that list. The smile from earlier remained on her face, glad that her countryman was not a bigot. ”Well, I’m glad for that,” Lee told him. ”Unfortunately, there’s a lot of people who think that what I am is reason enough to not touch me, or to hate me.”
But then AJ asked a question that was much harder for her to answer. ”I did know a few,” Lee said after a few moments thought. ”But I’ve been in Canada for the last four years, only just moved back. I don’t even know if they’re still in the city, or how to get ahold of them now. But, I can look into it, see who I can dig up. And tell you what I do know in the meantime.”

> ”I think you’re the first person to ever think that way about touching me,”
To ever think that way?
To ever think that way.
EVER!?!?!
Lee presented a calm and confident front, but her words betrayed what a bundle of hurt she must have been inside. She explained with a small smile that he wasn't a threat to her, which to be fair was what he'd been trying to say the entire time.
> ”Unfortunately, there’s a lot of people who think that what I am is reason enough to not touch me, or to hate me.”
"People are just scared. I've had someone refuse critical care because I'm brown." It sounded ridiculous when he put it like that, but that was what it boiled down to. He looked like people who traded in fear. It was hard being lumped in with terrorists, but then there were mutants who were not all that admirable. He shrugged it off because what else could he do? That was entirely outside of his control at the moment.
Just like him being an adapted was outside of his control.
Lee had lost contact. Rotten luck.
"If you see one, or meet anyone else like me, could you point them my way? Here." He pulled the pen from his shoulder and wrote on the donut bag he had yet to touch.
AJ - DOES NOT WANT TO KILL YOU - ADAPTED 917-867-5309
Good enough.
"It was nice to meet you." He still had coffee left, but it seemed like a good time to get out and AJ had a lot of things to think through still. "Thanks for the heads up. Sucks walking around blind, y'know?"
Lee shook her head. ”It’s ridiculous,” she said. ”There are things to be scared of, and what most people are scared of aren’t worth it.”
AJ wanted her to point any adapteds she came across toward him? Well, that did kind of make sense. If he hadn’t had any idea about the fact that he was an adapted until she brought it up, it did make sense that he would want to talk to another adapted if he could. If there had been someone with powers like her own when she was younger, she’d probably have wanted to meet them, to see how to live with it. That would have saved herself a lot of grief over the years.
”Of course I can point them your way,” Lee told AJ as he was writing on one of the bags. A bag that still appeared to have tim-donut holes in it. Taking a look at the note when he was done writing, Lee laughed slightly. ”Thanks for that little reminder,” Lee said with a shake of her head. ”I mean, I guess it is important to remember that you’re not trying to kill me. Though, I would have thought this conversation would be enough to remember.”
Apparently AJ thought it was time to go. Though, not everyone was able to take the whole day off like she had decided to. ”It was nice to meet you,” Lee agreed. ”At least once that initial awkwardness passed. But I’ll be sure to call once I manage to dig someone, or something, up for you.”
