The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

“Thanks, I suppose. It has been an adjustment but I enjoy this century.”
"Yeah, women's rights, publicly available technology, donuts...." listed Rift with some degree of mirth, "What else could you want?" It had to be almost like arriving on a completely different planet, back then the idea of a touch screen portable electronic devise would have been noting short of science fiction.
“Oh, I see. Global jumping? Can you jump into another country? That is amazing!”
"I suppose your probably here looking at some site seeing?" he assumed, figuring that she was likely trying to catch up and see what had changed. "I can probably save you a bit of air fare. Any spot you want to see? Paris? Japan? Seattle?" he said, listing the easy to recall location spots in his head, the ones that had a good view of the cities like the Space Needle. He had just thought of a world hopping partner, and a time displaced wanderer certainly gave a fresh viewpoint.
She nodded as he listed different things that individuals enjoyed in the 21st century. She agreed, for the most part. There were things she was still heavily against, of course, but it had improved.
She shrugged as she took a bite of the donut, “I miss home cooked food, for whatever that is worth.” She missed the food she had back in her time – always cooked by her mother or grandmother, always nearly perfect. Granted, there was plenty of amazing places but there was nothing like her mom’s cooking.
She nodded, “Yes, I am quite interested in traveling around the world. All of those places, Florence, Rome, Marseille, Barcelona, Kiev, Vienna… Most people never leave their hometowns in my time.” She sighed as she thought of all the potential beautiful places she could now visit. Although save on fair? How could he do that? For a second, a perplexed face showed across but then she realized – they could jump through his portal things.
Although realizing they could actually, seriously visit new places so quickly, she leaned forward again, “What kind of places do you want to go…?”
"Well, if you feel like seeing the sites, I know a few places in the airport where no one is looking. Ever seen the Tower of Pisa?" It was a extremely easy place to visualize, plenty of people took pictures of the tower so he could see the tower and the surrounding buildings in his mind. It would likely be fun to pop out on top of the building, but the pictures he had seen were around the base, so he didn't know the layout of the tower itself, at least not off the top of his head. He could easily open a portal in one of the corridors outside of the view of the general public and cameras to get there. If she was interested he could make that happen right now, maybe stop by for authentic Italian pizza. By the tower of Pisa. Internal joke. He chuckled slightly.
Gwen’s eye naturally widened at the possibility of seeing the Tower of Pisa. How did she miss that one in her list of places she always wanted to visit but never dreamed of seeing? It wasn’t like they had airplanes in her time, heck, even cars. Steam boats were barely just getting off either.
She stayed leaned in, looking at him seriously, “How do we do it? Just… Open the portal and jump in… Or…?” She asked, slightly cautious. Charlie was going to kill her, hopping around the globe. But how could she ever miss an opportunity like this? She bit her lip, "When? Can we go... Now?" She asked cautiously. She didn't want to run away the stranger with her glee but she could barely contain her excitement. After all, it wasn't every day that she planned to go all over the world and back.
The woman was truly innocent to trust someone this fast. Not that Rift was planning to take advantage of that. But someone just offered to transport her halfway round the world and she had jumped on it. But that was fine by him, an unbiased and unsuspicious view would make reactions all the more genuine. He looked around for a nice spot, "Right there," he said, motioning towards a large standing sign in a corridor, blocking off the path, likely for storage or employee access, but a perfect spot to block view of two strangers disappearing into a glowing portal. "We walk behind there and come out in Italy." He offered a hand, "My names Rift," he said, offering his hand, "Still want to go?" he didn't give his real name out, less of a trail to leave behind, but his pseudo name was one he enjoyed enough to use on a regular basis. He already had the Tower of Pisa clear in mind, and was ready to open a gate there.
Gwen was unbelievably excited about the possibility of instant travel all over the globe. However, she didn't want the young man to think she was, well, taking advantage of him. They couldn't really be considered friends, at least not yet. They did just meet. She internally winced at how they met - she instantly accused him of stealing. Which he did do, but it was wrong of her to just presume. And especially to just ask him.
Although, he motioned to an area that would be perfect for them to just... Disappear. And re-enter into the country of Italy, near the Tower of Pisa. What an amazing day. She noticed him hold his hand out to her and give him her name and she nodded slowly. She put her hand daintily into his and stood up, "Gwendolyn. It's nice to meet you, Rift." Clearly, that wasn't his real name. It didn't take rocket science to figure that out. However, it was probably safer for him to give his nickname. After all, she did catch him stealing. She took a deep breath, "Let's!!!"
Granted, she was about to jump into a different country on the other side of the globe with a stranger. Oh well. What is it the kids in this time say? YOLO?
Gwendolyn, definitely sounded like an old timey traditional name. "Well, Gwen, let's 'jump ships'" he said, walking casually over to the sign, then concentrated, raising a hand behind it. A small rind formed then grew behind the sign. Unlike his earlier portals, this one was not see through, rather a surface of green energy. He had been through more then enough to expect a rush when stepping through, the gateway for his long jumps was something akin to being shot through a waterslide, except you flew down a energy tunnel before being spat out the other side. It felt like a sudden acceleration when you enters followed by the 'cushion' upon exiting where it felt like you slowed down. He didn't know wither this was because of the distance traveled or something else, since the ride felt the same regardless of distance, but he couldn't argue with the end result. "After you Gwen," he said, "Well, it'll have to be since I have to keep this open for you." If he went first it would close behind him, and these portals were basically one way.
She nodded. She was eager to go to another country. The only thing she was missing was her passport, so hopefully they wouldn't be hitting any immigration officers on their little visit to Europe. Not like it really mattered, she was sure she could count on Charlie to get them out if they were caught in a pickle. Well, hopefully, at least. Maybe she put too much trust in Charlie, but Charlie was her person. She had no reason not to trust her, after all.
She took a deep breath and looked towards him, hoping he wasn't about to just throw her threw and then not come through. That would be a big mess for her. In a country where she can't speak the language. It'd nearly be her getting transported into the future again, except maybe even worse. At least she could relatively understand everyone when she arrived here. That wouldn't be the case in Italy.
She took a deep breath and jumped into the energy tunnel. She closed her eyes and bit her lip as she flew through the portal. It wasn't painful, which was a nice surprise. She was expecting some pain. Not as bad as when she was transported into the future, but some type of pain at least. It was just a few moments later that she felt like she had stopped and... She slowly opened her eyes, them wide with wonder at their near surroundings. They were at the leaning tower of pisa. Remarkable!
