The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Okay, so that happened. Winnie could scarcely remember everything that occurred. She vaguely remembered looking up and watching the sky split open and denizens from some dark dimensions fell from the sky like so much rain. It was enough to make her want to rip her own little eyes out. In a panic she ran, bolting from side to side, away from Amazing Lady and trying to stay as far away from the terrifying schoolgirl with the demonic eyes. She wanted nothing more than to just throw herself into a dark hole and pull it in after her, but it seemed she would have to face to her fears.
Watching the powerful Thor take on the lady, rattling the entire roof with powers that she didn’t know he possessed, the tiny kiwi ran and tried to make herself as small and unseen as possible. As she fled, she jumped, slashing her talons at invisible enemies, snapping her beak, fighting with anything and everything she had while her tiny heart pumped impossibly fast in her chest. Death or victory, she didn’t care anymore, she just wanted to be out of here.
And then, everything went still. First Amazing Lady, gripped with terror and screaming like a banshee marched over to the fallen girl, slamming her heel into the woman’s leg and peppering spraying her until she about puked. Lastly, Thor intervened, delivering a powerful punch to the side of the young girl’s head and effectively knocking her unconscious.
After that, it was a miracle. The fear that enveloped her mind seemed to lessen and lessen. It was as if the heavy weight of her fears had suddenly sprung a leak and were pouring out of her, spilling onto the ground. She grew lighter and lighter until, finally, all her fears just evaporated, leaving the kiwi standing on the ground, looking utterly confused. Her eyes swept over the scene, her fear growing less and less, her body untensing, until, finally…
POP!!
A tiny burst of sound and, standing where there was a once a kiwi bird, Winnie now stood, still in her tight-fitting Toxin costume. She gulped, looking down at her hands, relief washing over her at the fact that she was not going to be stuck in that stupid fat bird form any longer than she had to. Her hands falling her to sides, she turned, her gaze sweeping across the rooftop and everyone gathered. Really, this was not how she had expected her night to go. Already the sounds of sirens advancing on the hotel struck her ears and she sighed -- too little, too late.
Glancing to the nearest person, she scoffed, briefly running her hands through her crop of pixie-cut hair. ”Well...I...I’m definitely ready to drink enough to kill every brain cell that tries to remember even a second of tonight.”
Morgan’s eyes were streaming. She wasn’t sure if it was the little droplets of capsaicin swirling through the air making their way to her olfactory nerves, or the wavering image of her dying mother she could still see out of the corner of her eye. She kept the button pressed down even as the girl shrieked. Even as the can fizzled into silence. She had a millisecond to wonder what she would do now that it was empty when a solid impact hit her in the back. With the weak knee barely holding her own weight the addition of a huge man barrelling into her took her down to the dirty roof. Splayed as she was, undignified, she had a close-up view of the impact between the teen’s head and the roof. It made a concerning clunk. The girl muttered some nonsense – a clear indication of the brain damage.
If she was on the phone to herself, what would she say?
Weakly she clutched at the phone- still connected to 911 and lifted it to her ear.
“Y-you still there?”
The voice was no longer a sobbing child, but that of her colleague, guiding her through the motions of placing the bodies in the recovery position. She improvised a set of handcuffs from her rope of truth for the teenager and made sure that her airway was clear. Pepper spray made people puke sometimes, and there had been a lot of that going on.
Moving the man was a more difficult feat. She was able to open his mouth and check for blockages, but that was about it. There was no way she was going to be able to move him. Casting her eyes around she landed on Douffe and the recently un-birdified Toxin.
“You guys, help me roll him on his side.”
Maybe they could move him, maybe they could just get him off his cape enough to drape it over him to shield his puddle of dignity. Not that any of them could really talk about dignity.
>> "Do not yell at me! There aren't an-any snakes, Andrew!"
All of Andy's senses begged to differ. He could even feel their venom course through his bloodstream, causing his muscles to ache and stiffen to the point where his legs buckled under him. Screaming helplessly, Andy fell straight down the stairs and hit the back of his head so hard that he instantly felt dizzy. Sprawled out along the foot of the stairs, he didn’t know which way was up as the world began to spin and, for a brief moment, he thought he was going to die right then and there.
But he didn’t die.
Slowly but surely, the world came into focus once more and Andy couldn’t help but squint as harsh florescent lights shot bolts of glaring light into his eyes. “Wh-what the hell?” he sputtered weakly, a look of confusion covering his face as he lifted his throbbing head off the floor and glanced around the stairwell, which was suddenly no longer filled with black smoke… or deadly snakes.
Well. As soon as Charlie began to approach the glimpse of the costume that she recognized in the crowd, the Amazonian made a beeline for the guy on the ground. In Charlie’s opinion, he seemed fine enough, and she figured that he was likely capable of dealing with his own s***, but if she wanted to waste her time on helping him out rather than actually figuring out what just happened, then that was her choice.
So, Amazing Woman was out. Too bad. Lucky for Charlie, though, there was a little ‘pop’ nearby, and a beautiful girl replaced the bird that had just been standing there. Her inkling about the bird being Toxin had been correct. Lovely.
>>”Well...I...I’m definitely ready to drink enough to kill every brain cell that tries to remember even a second of tonight.”
”I’m with you there,” Charlie nodded. She still wasn’t quite up for smiling, but if she was, she would have grinned at the other woman. She was just glad that things had gotten good enough that she was able to think about things like that again. She really didn’t need to relive any of that night. For the next year, she had to try to remember not to attend sketchy Halloween parties.
She turned to Toxin and nodded toward the door, which people were scrambling to get out of at that point. ”What do you say we forget about all of this somewhere else?” she offered. Anywhere but there. They needed to get out of that absolutely crazy hotel. Plus, she figured it might bring the mood back up a bit if they changed the scenery.
Winnie was 100% done with this hotel. She was done with Halloween. She was done with partying. All she wanted to do was find a nice warm bed to crawl into and, if someone wanted to join her to help comfort the evil thoughts away, even better. But first that meant getting off this cold ass roof where she was just mentally f**ked with by some hormone driven psycho-b**ch. Really, it was a tough night and she would be thankful to put it behind her.
Lamenting that she needed a drink, preferably enough of them to forget the night, Winnie turned her stormy eyes back towards the scene, watching as Amazing Lady seemed to take charge of watching over the fallen hero. It almost looked as if the woman did this for a living, something that she never would have guessed. She took two steps towards her before she stopped, her eyes falling on the advances of the blonde “Sandy” whom she had met earlier in the evening.
>>”I’m with you there,...What do you say we forget about all of this somewhere else?”
Honestly that was probably the best offer she had heard all night. Mainly because it would mean she didn’t have to be here anymore, but the woman was attractive and seemingly eager to hightail it out of the hotel as well. She didn’t know where the night would take them but Winnie was certainly not going to let the uncertainly stop her from agreeing.
She nodded.
”Please, sweetie?” she said with a sigh. ”I’m in desperate need of it.”
The drink, she meant…
>>“You guys, help me roll him on his side.”
However, before Winnie could leave, Amazing Lady called out towards them. She needed help moving the hero-guy over. While Winnie didn’t like to get involved with things like this, she couldn’t just leave so cold-heartedly. The guy did save them, after all. So, with a slight sigh, she marched forward, knelt down, and grunted as she helped the Amazonian to tilted the man over onto his side, as securely as she could. Only when it was done did she stand up and roll her sore shoulder. There, her good deed for the year was done.
”I need to get out of here,” she nodded to Amazing Lady. ”Take care of him, hun. I need to leave before cops show up and start holding people for questioning. I’m way not about it right now.” She slumped her shoulders, walking back to Sandy and draping her arm around her shoulder, leaning against her tiredly. ”Come on, Sandy. You promised me a drink.” She said, steering her towards the exit to the roof and back out. This night needed to be put as far behind her as possible...
