The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Their get away was a clean-ish break across the border, so to speak. Noel expected a bit of reprieve as far as the action went. They split up as needed and drove around while they debated the best course of action. Sveta had mentioned a tracking nodule and that was jogging some distant memories for Noel. Like a copy of a copy of a VHS: the pictures were there, but it just wasn't quite clear enough to understand.
"Blackforest Tactical is Michael Hunter's company. He runs security for Hadden. I don't know if he's got a secure room, but I'm not so sure about running straight to Haven." She ran through the basics while they maneuvered into the company's garage. Noel had codes for days. It paid to date the guy who set 'em all up. "They're not all powered, but enough are. I'm not on great terms with the kid in the office, but it's after hours. He shouldn't be there." Actually, Noel wasn't too sure who would be in, but it'd be someone. She'd have to ask that they not tattle to the Ranger. That wasn't fair to any of them, but Noel wasn't yet sure if she'd made the biggest mistake of her life just yet.
The car shuddered to a stop and Thomas Blair was already at the door, ready to scope out whoever'd just arrived without warning. Shoot. She should have called.
"Blair." Noel nodded to the former special ops man. "Please tell me there's a secure room and medical supplies."
> "You call the Ranger 'bout this?" He didn't seem keen on moving to help or moving to unclock the door to Blac-Tac proper.
Noel cringed and that was answer enough. "Please? Special circumstances. Let Muse tell you what a bad man this Nolan is. I need what's in his head and to get it, I need him patched up and tracker free." The most Noel was willing to do to help Sveta out of the car was opening her door. Noel walked around to grab Nolan. She didn't expect help, or want it, even. This was her copy, her decision. She was going to pick his brain clean as soon as she had the chance.
> "I'm not taking responsibility if this goes wrong."
Noel hefted Nolan over her shoulder and stopped after closing the car door. She met Blair's eyes and paused to make sure she understood. If she jeopardized Blac-Tac with this? Yeah... it'd be bad. But it'd be better than jeopardizing Haven.
"It's on me. Text him if you need. I need us to act fast and I can't think of a better guarded, or better manned location."
> "We have a room for questioning. I'll grab a med kit."
"Blair?" He turned back with one raised eyebrow. He was about Ranger's size, maybe a bit less muscle, but it was all too easy to imagine the same disapproval on Michael's face. "Something real sharp? And ice?"
> "On it."
How refreshing it was to work with professionals. It wasn't that the Havenites were bad, they were mostly just untrained and untested. Blac-Tac Alpha team members had some serious discipline. These guys were just that much better. Noel breathed a sigh. It was the best course of action to come here. She was sure of it now.
"Sveta, I think my phone's on the seat still. Can you get a message to Tempest? I've done a crap job of keeping everyone in the loop. There just wasn't time before..." And she still felt the urgency. They needed to get those trackers out. Noel hefted Nolan on her shoulders and led the way to a small secured room. The table was bolted down, but not the chairs. No windows. Noel tipped Nolan on the table.
"Do you know where the nodule went in, Sveta?" If they knew where hers was, maybe they could find it on Nolan too.
They made it. They actually made it, all the way back through the rip with an unconscious Nolan, and no SUPER alpha mutant came after them to shred the vehicle. Sveta was painfully aware of her own tracker, but for now, she was with the good guys. She could have kissed Noel for rescuing her, if it had been possible without wiping the entire city memory-clean. Noel took her (and her doppelganger) to a location Sveta had not seen before. A grumpy man greeted them there, one that was none too happy about the late night visit, but also not turning them away. Sveta was too tired to even ask. Exhausted, even. And the night was not quite over yet.
>>"Please? Special circumstances. Let Muse tell you what a bad man this Nolan is. I need what's in his head and to get it, I need him patched up and tracker free."
"He's an ***hole." Sveta supplied, none too helpfully, but with great conviction. The guy did not argue.
>>"Blair? Something real sharp? And ice?"
>>"On it."
Sveta winced as they got out of the car. The trackers needed to come out, and they were sure as hell not going to a hospital for it. This girls' night out was gonna suck...
>>"Sveta, I think my phone's on the seat still. Can you get a message to Tempest? I've done a crap job of keeping everyone in the loop. There just wasn't time before..."
Sveta grabbed a phone, and fired off a message to Devon. Back on this side of rip. Have Muse. And guest. Come meet us...
"Were are we again?..."
Once she got the location, she sent the message, and followed Noel to the interrogation room. Nolan was still out cold, with a nasty bruise forming on his head.
>>"Do you know where the nodule went in, Sveta?"
"Dunno about his" Sveta sighed, peeling off her blouse "But mine's back here" she reached around awkwardly, patting her right shoulderblade. "And I really want it out."
*italics are spoken in Russian* Thanks to Siren for the sig and avi!
Sveta was taking off her clothes when Blair came in bearing gifts. To his credit, he only hesitated at the doorway. He set his pile of goodies down on a chair and started to put some of the pieces together.
> "It's under the skin?"
"Yeah and we can't touch Muse. She'll make your power go kaboom." The murder seemed optional, but Noel wasn't quite prepared to test that theory. "Even with gloves?" This was going to be difficult.
> "It's good practice to wear gloves anyway if there's blood." He disappeared out into the hallway and came back with a box of latex free gloves, size L. Noel hesitated, but gloved up.
"I don't know the first thing about cutting people open."
> "That's okay. I do. Grab that ice."
Noel shoveled the ice out of a cup and into a glove and tied it off. At Blair's direction, they looked closely at Muse's back until they found a small scar. She pressed the ice against the spot without touching anything more than the ice. Meanwhile Blair was getting set up. The knife he'd grabbed was obscenely large, but she assumed sharp since Noel'd asked for that. He wiped it down with an alcohol wipe and motioned for Noel to remove the ice.
> "As little touch as possible?" He hesitated waiting for Muse to answer that she was ready so he could swoop in and get it done. The tip of the knife hovered just over the spot where her skin was pink from the cold. Probably not nearly numb enough, if at all. They'd tried, but they were also in a rush.
Sveta found herself a chair. She had been grabbed with few personal belongings weeks ago, and now she was back in the same manner; she basically only had the clothes on her back. On, in this case, not even those... she wished she'd have some towels. This was not gonna be pretty.
>>"It's under the skin?"
>>"Yeah and we can't touch Muse. She'll make your power go kaboom."
"Under the skin." Sveta nodded, really glad that she got rescued before they could have moved the tracker to a more secure location. Like, inside her skull. Would have been a lot harder to dig that one out.
>>"I don't know the first thing about cutting people open."
>>"That's okay. I do. Grab that ice."
Oh good, the dude was a mutant, but at least he knew how to cut someone open. That was reassuring... Sveta ted her hair up, and sat down, bracing herself at the edge of the table. She winced as Noel touched the ice to her back. It burned a little, and then it went numb.
>>"As little touch as possible?"
"You should be okay with de gloves on" Sveta nodded "I only boost you double that way. And it stops when you break contact. So if you can't keep a hold on your powers, just step away. And make sure we don't touch skin to skin."
That last bit was important. Especially because he was gonna cut into her skin...
*italics are spoken in Russian* Thanks to Siren for the sig and avi!
Noel went for some paper towels and a spare set of clothes from her stash. Once they were ready, she set up shop so that she pull Blair away should he need the help. He wasn't nervous. Alpha team members didn't seem to be capable to that. Noel imagined that his hesitation was due to him thinking through each step before he ever took the first one.
> "Okay. Here we go." He touched Muse's back and pushed with his fingers in an attempt to feel whatever they were looking for. He tripped up only briefly as his powers activated. Walls of force shimmered into existence just inside the real walls. Should they have needed to keep someone in, Noel supposed this was the best guy to do the job.
When Noel looked back, he'd already cut into Muse's back and was murmuring through what he was doing probably just so nothing would surprise her.
> "Boots, get ready." He scraped the back of the knife along her skin, pushing a fresh gush of blood through the little incision and soon after, a little... thing. With a little wire attached. If Noel had to give it a name it looked a bit like a transistor.
Boots, it seemed, would forever be her call sign here. Noel moved to catch it. She ended up having to trap it against Muse's back which meant they were touching and her eyes started to vibrate as her power activated without a target.
"Got it." Blair was putting pressure on the spot and following up with ice. Noel set the tracker on the table next to the unconscious Nolan. All she had to do was keep her eyes down until they stopped freaking out. No big deal.
> "Not too shabby. I can stitch that once or twice if you want to be sure."
Noel would let Muse answer that. She was already rolling Nolan over and pulling his shirt out of his pants so they could check his back. "I'd rather not get into his head tonight. I need to debrief before all this gets overwritten."
> "You need me to do him too?"
"Actually, we have one more coming. Maybe by air? Maybe by car? Devon Hadden. If you don't know him by sight, I have a picture on my phone. Also, we don't really care this guy gets hurt." She tugged his shirt up and was surprised by a hefty amount of bruising and scars. It only gave her a moment's pause.
Sveta bit her lips as the guy cut into her back. It hurt, the skin on her back being sensitive, but at least the damn tracker was just under the skin... Sveta muttered some curses in Russian as her two allies behind her got the device out. She felt some warm blood trickle down her spine.
>>"Got it."
>>"Not too shabby. I can stitch that once or twice if you want to be sure."
"Sure." Sveta nodded. It already hurt, might as well close up faster... she chewed on her lips, but the pain was made easier to bear by the relief that the tracker was out. She looked at the bloody little thing on the desk as Noel worked on turning Nolan over. "Do we crush it?"
She really wanted to crush it.
>>"Actually, we have one more coming. Maybe by air? Maybe by car? Devon Hadden. If you don't know him by sight, I have a picture on my phone. Also, we don't really care this guy gets hurt."
>>"I'll keep a look out, then."
"We need his tracker too" Sveta muttered, watching Noel "He's too important for dem to let him disappear. And he knows a lot. It's... He messes with people's heads. If he wakes up, I'm gonna hit him again."

> "Do we crush it?"
Noel spared a glance for the tracker still sitting on the table. Muse was getting her stitches, Noel had her hands up her copy's shirt. It was harder to find a tracker that was year ago planted. Somehow this felt like giving her unconscious copy a massage.
> "It might be better to throw them in the river or get them moving somehow."
"What about a stray?" Noel ran her hands over Nolan's back one last time. It didn't seem to be in the same place. She rolled him back over. Could Muse help? Err... probably not a good idea for her to touch him, actually. Plus she was getting her stitches. "Any ideas, Muse? I can't find it."
> "Was thinking it'd be easier to find some varmint, yeah."
Blair tied off his stitches. Noel still hadn't found the tracer on Nolan.
"You think you can catch something squirmy enough to give 'em hell?" She made please, please eyes at the former special ops man and reached out to nudge Sveta to do the same, but stopped once she realized that would be touching and touching would be a no go.
He didn't look like he wanted to, but he also didn't look like he had a better idea.
> "Rip and stitch on a power booster, tracker chips, and now I'm off catching raccoons? Today's not really going like I thought it would."
Noel looked at Muse, a knowing look, before looking down at her copy's face. It was her. If she'd been a man, if her government job hadn't fallen through, if she hadn't had so many trip-ups in New York... It was her. But they definitely weren't the same.
"Yeah. Weird night." She felt along behind his ears and around his skull until she thought she might have something. A little cut and she imitated what Blair had done before passing both little chips over. It wasn't easy to put pressure on a rounded area like a skull, but Noel tried. Nolan was going to have one hell of a hangover anyway after that Muse hit.
> "I'll send Mr. Hadden in when he arrives." Blair left them alone.
"I want you to tell me about what happened, but... I guess we should wait for Hadden so you're not telling it twice."

Devon had different vibration patterns on his phone for some individuals. Noel was one of them. She’d been gone a couple days to the point Devon had reached out to ranger. Maybe he was a little paranoid because Sveta was gone, presumably taken. No one had seen her since before the RIP. Considering the ramifications – like DoppleDevon – security and concern for members had risen, but the protection of Muse’s privacy and safety in the wake had also escalated. Unable to find her, Haven’s Inner Echelon was eagerly anticipating any report.
>> Back on this side of rip. Have Muse. And guest. Come meet us… Blackforest Tactical
And guest? It was difficult to infer the state of affairs, but there wasn’t time to decode. Tempest charged into his closet as he messaged Natalie and Nate that the two were back as well as the fact he was joining them. He opened the secret storage rack for the uniform he kept here and changed almost as quickly as he’d messaged the Inner Echelon. His eyes were as dark as his uniform as he passed in front of the mirror.
Through his bedroom and out the fixed patio doors he went, raising his face mask. Outside the once partly cloudy sky had darkened as new clouds formed and gathered. Moisture was thickening the air and the wind had kicked up a little. A possibility of a late night storm was certainly increasing. He lowered his hands to the patio tile and then raised them slowly to his chest, air currents entwining and encircling as they grew stronger to lift him. Tempest rose some thirty feet above his patio and the winds grew stronger still; he pushed them. Soon he was a black blur on a night sky, soaring up toward the clouds. He flew with purpose and demand, speeds rising above 100mph as he skirted the clouds. But he wasn’t going far and there was no traffic to delay him.
Winds rose in Greenpoint as he came over the river, though he carefully controlled his descent so as not to damage the around him. He fell swiftly the last sixty feet into the trees of McCarren park. Dashing out of cover he waved at the eyes watching from the door. A single nod gestured Devon forward.
There was a single knock on the door and then the door opened. Devon had lowered his face mask, but his eyes still swam with darkness. The uniformed Tempest bowed his head slowly, an angry line between his narrowed eyebrows and a thinner line made of his lips. “I’m glad you’re back, and both of you are okay,” he said first. “Blair said he would return once his hunt is done,” he added quickly.
His attention then went to the man on the table who looked familiar though Devon couldn’t immediately place the man. Considering Devon’s eyes were black with his power it was difficult to tell what he was looking at. However, he inclined his chin in reference. “I take it this is your guest.”
The wound only needed two stitches, and the guy did them pretty well, all things considered. Sveta bit her lips and wished they had some alcohol (other than the disinfectant) to take the edge off. In the meantime, Noel kept checking her doppelganger over for the other tracker, making plans about how to throw SUPER off their scent.
>>"Any ideas, Muse? I can't find it."
"Try his head." Sveta doubted that someone so eager to go along with SUPER would get a tracker in an untouchable place like his back, but there had to be one somewhere, just in case. Mostly to protect against psychics who would brainwash someone into leaving. And they needed to get the tracker out, and... put it on a stray cat?... To make sure it did not lead anyone back to him before they could have a loooong talk.
>>"Rip and stitch on a power booster, tracker chips, and now I'm off catching raccoons? Today's not really going like I thought it would."
>>"Yeah. Weird night."
"Maybe it's just me but I like dis say so far" Sveta grinned through the pain. She had been rescued, she was among friends. And the next time SUPER wanted to take her, they would have to try one hell of a lot harder. Injuries and exhaustion aside, the day had been a win.
>>"I want you to tell me about what happened, but... I guess we should wait for Hadden so you're not telling it twice."
Sveta nodded in agreement. Telling once would be more than enough. She was gingerly shrugging back into her blouse when Devon showed, uniform and mask and all, and Sveta found herself smiling, glad to see him.
>>“I’m glad you’re back, and both of you are okay,”
"Glad to be back." Sveta nodded, meaning every word "Thanks to Noel."
>>“I take it this is your guest.”
"His name is Nolan." Sveta said with a small frown "He is important to SUPER. Also, he... is the other side's version of Noel. But he's an awful person. Like an evil twin."

Noel wasn't sure she'd seen Hadden in his hero suit before, but when he stepped through the doorway she recognized him almost immediately. Maybe it was the hair. She continued putting pressure on the back of Nolan's head and watched the back and forth between her friends. Why did it always feel like she'd been caught doing something she shouldn't when Hadden showed up?
"SUPER had them both tagged with subdermal trackers. We asked Blair to rehouse those in something squirmy." That was the most she could say about Blair's hunt. The truth tended to be less sensational than it sounded sometimes. She didn't want Hadden, or Tempest, as he was dressed, to misunderstand.
"Sorry for the no notice." Despite everything it'd turned out alright. If it hadn't... Noel shook her head at herself and the situation they'd evaded. She was glad it didn't go wrong. Noel working with this world's government was bad enough. Removing her copy from SUPER made this an even bigger win.
> "His name is Nolan. He is important to SUPER. Also, he... is the other side's version of Noel. But he's an awful person. Like an evil twin."
Well. She did postulate that all the copies on the other side were evil... Noel raised an eyebrow at Tempest. This was strike 2 for the other universe.
"Sveta was in a training facility. She got a text to me while I was over the rift taking care of some personal business. I recruited the help of an X-man for help. I don't suggest any of the three of us go back over." And she sure as heck didn't know what to do with Nolan. For now, she was checking the bit of cloth she'd shoved up against the cut she made to remove his trace. It wasn't clotted, but the cut wasn't free flowing either. Noel put her hands on the table on either side of her unconscious copy's head.
"I—" It was difficult to articulate why she'd grabbed Nolan. Maybe later she could. For now she'd put the conversation back in Sveta's hands. "I'm glad they don't have you. Wanna start at the top, Sveta?" Noel spared a glance at her copy, but figured they were better off not having this conversation right on top of him. "There's a conference room down the hall. Welcome to Blac-Tac, by the way."
There was a polite turn of his head when Devon first entered, having quickly seen Sveta was dressing. When she started to address him, his attention returned to her and he was again reminded how thankful he was for Sveta’s friendship and interest in aiding Haven. These women both put themselves in tremendously difficult situations, made a life out of surviving the impact of their powers, and still wanted to help. That’s what Haven was about, but an importance of leadership was taking care of oneself first and that meant taking care of each other.
>> "Glad to be back. Thanks to Noel."
Devon nodded quickly and smiled faintly, turning to the memory-mancer.
>> "SUPER had them both tagged with subdermal trackers. We asked Blair to rehouse those in something squirmy. Sorry for the no notice.”
He held up a hand in protest and the motion continued so he could pull down the face mask covering his nose and mouth. “I understand, at least Ranger knew something,” he said quickly, smile remaining. They would need to discuss a fast, secure method of checking in. Devon would forgive easily, but there was a process and protocol to checking in, handling these projects… These missions. If they didn’t follow them, people weren’t informed and when things went bad, at least someone would know what was going on or where.
But their attention for now was on this other man. This Nolan. That’s why he looked familiar. It was Noel’s twin. The opposing movements of the mouth to pronounce the names final syllable struck Devon as interesting, but nothing worth mentioning. All the details of this other Earth were tallying up. He caught Noel’s raised brow and mirrored Sveta’s frown.
Subdermal trackers. A training facility. SUPER. They did indeed have X-Men. But the warning from Noel was interesting: don’t go back over. It was clearly dangerous; he knew it was for mutants there. He needed to know more and to understand what this other world was about, how things had gone this way. His mind was racing with questions considering what Noel might have picked up and Sveta had experienced.
His eyes – still black – rested on Noel, however. She lingered over Nolan and Devon was reminded how he had felt seeing DoppleDevon. Their time reflecting in his study and then down at the medical room. Meeting your other self was an emotional, if not physical, experience. But he agreed, glad they didn’t have Sveta. He smiled, nodding again at Noel’s words and the suggestion of the conference room.
“I was worried, but I’m glad you’re both here,” Devon said, though his voice rang with concern not joy. His faint smile became a larger one, if melancholy. He mimed a hug to Sveta and then turned back for the door. A glance of understanding went Noel’s way as he headed out into the hall.
Quick texts to Nate and Natalie informed them Noel and Sveta were safe but they’d need a meeting soon. Things were likely to escalate now. Devon would need to make some authority figures aware of what he’d learned. There were legal and not-so legal steps to take, but all that depended on what they’d learned and what the two women suggested. They’d experienced this after all, and despite how upset he’d been at first, seeing them well had soothed the storm.
With the door locked to keep Nolan caged and the lights of conference room blinking on, Tempest glared at the windows. The wind was still stirring newly fallen leaves outside in the night. The trees across the street in the park swayed. Despite preferring to keep an eye on what was happening outside, he quickly closed the blinds. “In case they followed the trackers,” he mentioned briefly. Not interested in sitting, Tempest glided with quick footsteps to a corner of the room near a potted plant.
“If you don’t mind Sveta, let’s start at the beginning: how you got on the other side of the rift. We can stop if you want to, if you need any time to think or want to pause.”
Sveta shrugged into her blouse, and tried not to think about how she probably looked like hell after what they had gone through. The tracker was out and on its way to the sewers, and she was surrounded by friends now. Fairly powerful friends. And Nolan was still out cold.
>>"I'm glad they don't have you. Wanna start at the top, Sveta? There's a conference room down the hall. Welcome to Blac-Tac, by the way."
"Thanks." Sveta nodded, finally beginning to take in the facility they had brought her to. They left Nolan locked up, and walked over to a conference room, which looked less like and emergency safe house and more like an actual business. She relaxed a bit more, although the wound on her back was beginning to hurt now that the adrenaline had ebbed away.
>>“If you don’t mind Sveta, let’s start at the beginning: how you got on the other side of the rift. We can stop if you want to, if you need any time to think or want to pause.”
"I ran into the guy that caused the rip." Sveta jumped right in, taking a seat and leaning on the conference table so that she wouldn't hurt her back "I thought he was a guy I knew, but turned out to be his doppelganger. He was badly hurt, I helped him, den he wanted to go back over to the other side... and when he did, I got pulled through too, by accident. Nolan..." she nodded in the general direction of the other room "Pretended that he was trying to help me, but when he found out I could boost powers, he had me grabbed by the SUPER agents. Dey decided I ws an asset."

That guy that caused the rip? Noel leaned forward in her conference room chair. This wasn't the conference room. There wasn't anyone to intimidate so there was no reason to set up shop in the big one lined with guns. This room was smaller with a nice round wooden table that had seen use. Perfect for this.
Noel didn't have any idea that there'd been a single person behind the portal between worlds. They'd certainly seen the lead up to it happening with the time anomaly ripples. Everything Muse said, she believed, though. Noel wouldn't take brainwashing out of the equation until she was done. Her eyes flicked to Tempest's as he watched out the window. Noel really hoped that Muse wasn't properly brainwashed. She seemed in control of herself ever since they'd met and she had been in a closet.
"You are an asset." Noel, had she been in that position, would have done the same, but probably without any attempt at trickery. "But more importantly, you're a friend." That was the important part, really. Noel didn't go to war for assets. Not anymore.
Tempest’s eyes practically bulged out of their sockets at Sveta’s initial declaration. Whoever had caused it had gotten launched to this side and appeared at least like someone Sveta thought she knew. That was an interesting detail. What kind of mutant had that power and was it something he caused on purpose or on accident? The man had been hurt, so likely he would need assistance for his wellbeing and that of others.
It’s no surprise Svetlana would try to help and end up on the other side, but Noel’s foul doppleganger clearly was more manipulative than the well-adjusted woman that he’d had the luck of meeting. Everyone wanted the power booster. No one thought about her or the consequences of her presence. It was sickening really, like he figured the government might be at the idea of weaponizing mutant powers. Tempest frowned at Sveta’s final comment.
>> "But more importantly, you're a friend."
Devon looked quickly back to Noel and nodded. “Our friend, one with rights and a person, not some thing or weapon for them to use,” Tempest said affirmatively though the malice in his tone was hard to hide. “And what of SUPER? I assume they will want their agents, and any assets, they can get their hands on. It seems we all should be concerned and ensure security is heightened.”
“Once you’re safe and we internally alert our needs, I think we should escalate this through some proper and public channels,” Devon added. “This is a danger to our city, let alone the country. But what of the one you helped who looked like your friend? Did SUPER take him too? Is he safe and what are his abilities that would cause this?”
Sveta felt her whole body grow heavy as the adrenaline went out of her system. She was sitting at the desk, leaning on her elbows; her back was starting to hurt where the stitches had been done. She was bone tired, but also felt safe for the first time in months.
>>"You are an asset. But more importantly, you're a friend."
>>“Our friend, one with rights and a person, not some thing or weapon for them to use,”
Devon was angry, but even with the look on his face, Sveta was grateful for the words. She never had many friends... being called a friend by people who were willing to put themselves on the line for her was something that made her smile, even though she was tired. She was more to them than just her powers.
>>“And what of SUPER? I assume they will want their agents, and any assets, they can get their hands on. It seems we all should be concerned and ensure security is heightened. "Dey are dangerous, and have a lot of resources." Sveta sighed "We need to be very careful with dem. They infiltrate, and hunt, and blackmail, and dey collect psychics. Like that one." she added, nodding in the general direction of the room Nolan was in. "They can tag someone without them knowing. The trackers are important to find."
She was too tired to make detailed plans right now. She just wanted to give the basics, and go sleep somewhere safe.
>>"But what of the one you helped who looked like your friend? Did SUPER take him too? Is he safe and what are his abilities that would cause this?”
"His name is Stalker. He works for SUPER... I don't think he likes them, but they threatened him enough that he won't betray them. He tracks mutants. The rip was not caused by him... not directly. He was just there when it happened, and his powers pulled him through... or something. I think they were hunting another mutant that turned on them... he was hurt, he did not make much sense."
