”No. Officers are allowed to detain people who fail to identify until they can be identified, but it isn’t, strictly speaking, a crime. Until we are told to go to tent-ville it isn’t a crime to not go.” Failure to comply with the request of an officer being a crime.
In light of how everything had gone since Rianne and Raine had landed in that alleyway the odds that anyone was looking for Raine were now exceedingly low. She didn’t seem to exist... And neither did SUPER. ”Just a little paranoid, yeah. But in fairness I was chasing you earlier.” First to talk then to arrest. The second Raine had brought on herself. ”Though now there is no mention of you or Trace over the radio. If for some reason they’re still looking for you it is in no way a priority.”
Raine might think she had no choice but to go join the tent city, but Rianne wasn’t about to lower herself to that if she could help it. ”Of course you have a choice, and I doubt Tent-ville is a good option for anyone.” Rianne pulled out her wallet and looked at how much cash she had. The cabbie had accepted it when her card hadn’t worked. She always carried around cash in case there was an issue with her card. You never knew when power would be out or something like that. ”I can get us a room for the night. I’m a little too partial to A/C and running water. If I wanted to camp I’d go up state.” She put her wallet away. ”Won’t be the nicest place, but better than a cot or sleeping bag on the dirt under a tent in July crammed in with God knows how many other people in one tent.”
Rianne wouldn’t wish such conditions on anyone. While she didn’t know for a fact exactly what the conditions were, she had seen them enough with natural disasters to have a solid guess. She couldn’t help any of the people already in them, but she could help Raine.
Also meant they would have to hoof it one last time that day.
