MRO is an intermediate to advanced writing level original character, original plot X-Men RPG. We've been open and active since October of 2005. Derek nodded his head and watched the skies for a couple of birds to come closer to them. He whistled a couple of times until a finch swooped down and landed on his shoulder. Derek cooed at her for a bit before looking over at Sveta, then back at the finch. "Hey, we have a job for you. Can you go rally a couple of birds and check out the rip? It's important to myself and my friend here." The bird chirped a couple of times before taking flight again. Derek sighed contently and looked over at Sveta with a smile. "Now we wait!"

Sveta watched in fascination as Derek summoned a tiny songbird, that did not only obey the summon, but seemed quite fearless of the human, and settled comfortably on is shoulder. Having always lived in cities, Sveta was not sure she had ever seen a wild bird up this close and this calm. She tilted her head, barely drawing a breath, as she watched Derek... talk? Chirp? Converse in birdese?...
>>"Hey, we have a job for you. Can you go rally a couple of birds and check out the rip? It's important to myself and my friend here."
Request voiced, the bird flew away. Sveta's eyes followed it as she smirked. Quite the show of mutant powers. One of the old classics in action.

"You really are a Disney princess." Sveta grinned, not being able to withhold the comment any longer "Dat's... quite neat. What's the strangest animal you have ever talked to? Do dey ever say weird things?"

Derek chuckled at Sveta's commment. "I've heard that so many times from various people that I've been thinkin' of havin' that be my codename." He joked, though, there was a bit of truth in it.
"Dat's... quite neat. What's the strangest animal you have ever talked to? Do dey ever say weird things?"
"Strangest animal? I once had a conversation with a sealion at the zoo one time. He wanted me to give him a pale of fish. Unfortunately, I didn't have that." There had been other encounters with animals, but nothing too out of the ordinary. Speaking of, he needed to pick up some dead mice for Vix before he went back to the Honeycomb.

Sveta chuckled too. At least he did not get upset about the comment.
"Sorry, I should have thought everyone says dat" she smirked. She had pretty much heard all the Russian spy jokes people tended to have; as much from friends as she did from opponents. That was just how people's brains worked, they always thought they were the first ones to come up with a funny thing.

"Don't be. At least I'm pretty," he joked with a chuckle. Derek turned to look at Sveta, then back at the skies. He noticed that a few of the birds circled around the rip while squeaking among themselves.
>> "Well I guess just because you can talk to them, they don't get more intellectual...So you think they bird will tell us what we need to know?"
"I hope so." Derek's eyes stuck to the skies for a little while longer. After about ten minutes, five birds came back and landed on his out stretched arms. They started to squeak and hop along his arms, giving Derek everything he and Sveta needed to know. With a head nod, the birds flew away.
"They said it's sort of like a portal? People can go in and out and...it's more dimensional than physical."
