The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Something strange was happening. Weird ripples in time had been popping up and making their way around the globe, and it appeared they were more frequent in New York City. It wasn’t long after their discovery that instructions came down from Devon. He wanted those in Haven to investigate them.
On a whim the Ranger flicked on a police scanner at Blackforest Tactical to see if there was any mention of them. It was a good decision. It turned out that people across the city were calling 911 and 311 to report the strange happenings cause by the ripples.
After that discovery he moved a scanner and a few other radios into the conference room and procured a large map of the city. One large enough to cover most of the table. He spent half the day listening to the police scanner, air traffic, and the coast guard for mentions of the ripples. As reports came in he marked them on the map. A dot where the report was and a note of the time, possible size, and if there was any effect detailed.
After a couple hours into this Jude had showed up for work and the Ranger snatched him off his normal work and set to teaching him everything he needed to know about police radio chatter. Which really wasn’t that much. Identification is by badge number, how 10 codes work and what they are for NYPD, and how to work the scanner. Then he tasked Jude with listening to the radios and marking the maps as he had for the next few days.
It appeared like the ripples were moving. There were calls coming in for similar ripples that when plotted looked like a single ripple moving.
While Noel was no longer stuck needing someone to supervise her to leave Haven (people’s boots might be a bit safer), the Ranger thought she might like to join him in a trip out into the city. Chasing around ripples to see if they are actually moving around. He sent her a text saying he was headed back from work early and that they should go out hunting the ripples.
The Ranger took the Fordasaurus over to Haven. He left Jude at Blackforest Tactical to man the map and radios. He'd installed a CB radio in the truck and Jude had one to use back at the office in the conference room. He also had most of the radios Jude had, but he lacked the map and just having Jude direct him would be easier.
Park in the garage, walk over to the main building, and up the elevator. When the Ranger reached Noel’s door he paused for just a moment. The idea of him just showing up and letting himself into her apartment was still new enough to him. He keyed in his own birthday into the keypad and her door unlocked. He pushed it open and stepped inside.

"I'm here!" Walking out from the restroom, Noel was drying her hair with a towel. No muss. No fuss. No makeup. Just a fresh set of clothes and a flush to her skin. She’d stayed at the gym up until the last second.
Nate had been right. She fell more often than she succeeded on the salmon ladder. Noel had been determined, though, to at least get one rung. Now her back, backside, ankles, traps, delts, and… well, everything-- Everything was telling her about all the failures she'd used to learn enough to get that one.
But she got it.
"Hey." Somehow Noel melted a little each time she saw his face. It was silly. It wasn’t like they hadn’t been texting this whole time. The towel got slung over the back of a chair at a table that was covered with notes and handwriting practice. Eating took place at the little breakfast bar at Noel’s apartment, as evidenced by the dirty plate.
"Let’s roll." She slid her hand into his. Just for the walk to the car. Then she’d let him go again.

The Ranger heard Noel call from inside the apartment as he stepped in. He shut the door behind him because he wasn't a heathen before making his way to where he'd heard her voice from.
She was drying her hair with a towel. From their texting he'd known she had been at the gym. He may have been only slightly jealous of her being able to worship in the church of iron.
Oh how seeing her face could put a smile on his. She said, "Hey." and deposited her towel on the back of a chair.
"Hey. Ready t' hit the road?
"Let's roll"
She took his hand and he kissed the side of her head. The day was now going great. He then led the way out of the apartment. He'd told Noel loosely over text what was going on. That following the instructions from Devon he'd started looking into the ripples using radio chatter and that was what they would be chasing down. What he hadn't told her yet was, "I have the kid that works f'r me markin' everywhere the ripples show up on a giant map. He'll be givin' us directions over radio. An' I told him my call sign was Howdy... so he'd have t' say it."
They made their way down the elevator, out of Haven, and into the garage. Finally they could see the giant monstrosity of a truck the Ranger called the Fordasaurus.

Today, Noel had nothing on her wrist. She was fresh from the shower, after all. Instead, she had a Ranger to tell her which way was up.
And up was apparently a F650. "The tires come up to my ribs." Disbelief colored her tone. Like, she'd known it would be big. But this? This was just unreal. "You drive this thing!? Here? In New York?"
She wasn't disgusted, she was im-freaking-pressed!
Noel climbed up the back to touch the top of the hard shell covering the truck bed and peek into the tinted windows. Hadn't he mentioned something about some kind of trauma kit in there? The bumper was big too. She hooked her hands around the luggage rack and hopped to make the shocks bounce. Which, they didn't, really. She had nothing on the weight of this behemoth truck-suv-limo-monster hybrid.
She hopped down to continue her quick once-over and let her fingers glide just barely across the outside. The sides had footholds on top of what looked like shiny barrels. It was like climbing a ladder to get up and her back complained when she reached up to see how big her hand was in comparison to the side-view mirror. It was a stretch. When she grabbed the handle, the door didn't go in the direction she thought it would.
"I... suppose that's an important feature in the tight corridors of the city ad not at all an indulgence on your part." She climbed in and plopped herself into the passenger's seat, excited and delighted. Her feet went up onto the dashboard immediately.
No. Actually she put them down and dusted off the nothing that her shoes left behind and then went to poke at all the buttons.
"Which one calls the kid? Do I get a map too?" Or, she supposed she had a phone...
Noel sounded impressed when she asked about about him driving the Fordasaurus in New York. That was not normally the tone people had when they ask that question.
”Easier than y’ think. People tend t’ move out of the way when an armored fightin’ vehicle barrels up behind them.”
It always took people a moment to place their jaw and eyes back in place after first seeing the Fordasaurus. The Ranger would give Noel the time. Though she might need more time than he expected because instead of being dumbstruck by the behemoth, she started climbing all up over it. She even tried to shake the truck. If the shocks were a little looser it might have been possible for her to get it to move a little. As it was it didn’t move at all.
Eventually the Ranger moved to open driver seat door. It was a scissor door and moved smoothly out of the way for him to climb in. Eventually Noel opened the door, and commented on the completely necessary way in which it opened.
”I would never make a decision of such tactical value based on an indulgence.” Even if she couldn’t taste that lie it would be obvious by his grin. The whole vehicle was a study in how to build the most tactical assault vehicle that also satisfied that inner twelve year old.
The Ranger started the truck, the new engine roared like a tyrannosaurus as it came to life. Noel put up her feet before abandoning that in favor of all the buttons on and dials on the radios that all seemed to be running at once.
"Which one calls the kid? Do I get a map too?"
Grabbing hold of a mic for one of the radios and turning the volume on that one up the Ranger said, ”This one.” He keyed the mic to break squelch. Let Jude know he was ready to go before speaking to him. In case he was recording something on the map he wanted to give him a moment before he broke in. ”I don’t think a map like the one he’s got would fit in here.” He looked back into the truck. ”It’s big.”
He keyed the mic again and this time spoke into it. ”This is Howdy an’ Boots. Y’ read us Blac-Tactual?” He’d meant to say Black-Tac Actual but had stuck the last two words together. It had a ring to it though. ”We’re ready t’ roll out. Where’re we headed?”
The callsigns were all an attempt to just have Jude have to say the words a bunch.

New York was big. New York was dense. Whoever was making these power bubble time messy things was smart to stage their crimes against the world here, in the biggest cluster**** ever.
Every time Jude thought there might be a pattern, a dozen new calls came in.
He had the map sprawled across the conference table and Michael had given him a system of organization. Yellow highlighter marks for calls. Red circle if confirmed. A pin if it was active and ongoing. They'd put down some protective cardboard so Jude got to be rather vigorous with his pins.
The chatter right now was about some lady who was stuck in her car. How she'd wedged herself into the car between so many different disassembled IKEA sets was what they were joking about when a squawk came over from the actual boss' box. Jude turned the scanner down and tried to remember his radio etiquette.
Blac-Tactual. Cute.
"Blac-Tac Actual reading, Howdy." He made sure to enunciate more clearly than Michael had and put more than a little effort in putting the sigh in his voice. He had done this on purpose, Jude was sure.
"Current locations in activity are mostly Manhattan-side, mostly south of Central Park. 57th and 3rd has a supermarket full of people flipping out. It's unconfirmed, but they got three calls already."
Jude ran through a few confirmed locations with police on site that they could hopefully double check enroute, but the supermarket seemed the best starting place.
"Oh, and, Boots? Don't let Howdy forget to take pictures." Next time he addressed "Boots" Jude resolved to find a way to work in a Boots-n-Pots beat box joke of some kind.
Jude's voice came back over the radio. He said everything quite clearly, in contrast to the Ranger who casually spoke to him, and had worked a sigh into it. The Ranger laughed to himself, he'd have Jude saying normal words in no time. Thought the Texan in New York City.
Following the sighed greeting, Jude went straight to business. He rattled of locations, starting with one at 57th and 3rd, The Ranger turned to Noel. "I'll drive y' navigate?" He knew New York City well enough, but he might end up a bit more worried about muscling through traffic and miss some of the locations Jude gives as they go.
Finally Jude told Noel to not forget to have the Ranger take pictures. "We're headin' out. Keep us updated, Blac-Tactual. Howdy, out." He dropped the mic back onto the hook it lived on. "Y're welcome t' harass the help too if y' want." He said to Noel as the Fordasaurus started moving.
The Ranger pulled out of the garage, punching the gas to get the near monster truck up to speed to slide into traffic. It may have belched some black smoke at the car who'd tried to not let him out of the garage.

Michael was so tickled. It was a hilarious contrast to the way that he muscled out into traffic. One audacious vehicle honked at them. Noel was almost certain that was something like chihuahua syndrome. As the bigger car, they had to be more mature about those things.
"I have enough people that hate me, Michael. Let's not add the help to that list." She said it with a laugh, but the veracity sang sweet on her tongue. Noel wasn't particularly bothered to be disliked. She much preferred to be right.
"This looks mostly like a straight shot south. We'll pass Queensborough Bridge—" Which was 60th this far west of it. And they just did. Noel scrolled faster down the list of instructions. "Hang a left at 56th or 57th. Either one will do." Hmm. Actual had mentioned other anomalies that might have been visible on the way, but despite the traffic they were making too good of time for her to look up and notice anything.
"I wonder if we're able to document this mutant's behavior so thoroughly because we have so much vertical space filled with people." Noel watched their dot approach the pin on her map. "Looks like it's on the right up ahea— the heck?"
People were spilling out onto the street, moving as fast as blurs of color. They seemed to be running in hyper speed, but the further they got away from the grocery store, the slower they went.
Noel shot Ranger a knowing look and grabbed the radio so that he could park.
"This is Boots for Black-Tac Actual. We're at the grocery store and, yeah, go ahead and confirm this location. Over."
> "Copy that."
Noel looked at the CB a bit confused when it seemed to start spitting out weird sounds after the kid's confirmation. Was he... beat boxing? Or was that weird time trouble static?
She supposed he and Michael deserved each other, then. Noel flipped her phone over to camera and once the vehicle had stopped, opened the door and leaned out in order to take a video. The raised height of the Fordasaurus came in handy for seeing over the stand-still traffic.

Noel provided directions for the Ranger as he navigated New York City traffic. People moved as they usually did, no one wanted to their car to be Jonah eaten by a giant Texan whale. He did receive a few honks from those who were delighted to have been run out of their lane by proof that everything was bigger in Texas. Even when it wasn't in Texas.
As they approached Noel wondered about if they could document the mutant's behavior because of the verticality of the city. "Maybe. Could also be the mutant doin' it is here in the city."
Up ahead people were pouring out of a crocery store at incredible speed. Noel must have been looking at her phone because she was saying it was up ahead before she audibly reacted. The Ranger looked over to Noel then back to the road.
He moved the truck closer to find somewhere to park. He made sure to keep a good distance between them and where everyone was moving at ludicrous speed. While he parked Noel took the radio and contacted Jude.
"Over" and "copy that." Radio etiquette. Though it sounded like he had gotten too close to the distortion and it was affecting the radio. Jude had gone from coming in clear to so broken and stupid he sounded like the base and click track to some hip hop song.
"Must be messin' with the radio." The Ranger said as he popped a curb to move around a gawker. Finally he found a good place to stop where they had a clear view of the ripple. Noel opened the door and leaned out to record it. They were still in traffic, but the Fordasaurus was so tall Noel would be able to see over everything.
The ripple was much like mirage in appearance, this made it hard to see exactly where it was. While Noel filmed the Ranger watched it. It took a little while to realize it but it was soon clear that, "It's movin' toward us."
Time to move.
The Ranger waited for Noel to be back in her seat before he put the truck into gear and went to spin it around in the middle of the road. Someone next to him wanted to be difficult. The Ranger stuck his head out the window, threw a nickle at the car and shouted, "Move before I move y'!"
The driver gave the Ranger an look that was a mix or irritation and worry before moving their car enough that the Fordasaurus could pass and pup a U-turn in the middle of 57th.
He keyed the mic. "Can y' read me Blac-Tactual?" He waited a moment but got no reply from Jude."I'll get us away from it."
Up and over a few blocks and the Ranger tried again.

The Ranger sure didn't seem to want to be anywhere near the tremble of air that was enveloping the front part of the grocery store. The thing was fascinating, if difficult, to define. Noel felt like she could almost see it better out of the corner of her eye. How the Ranger determined that it was actually moving toward them was beyond her. Maybe he had better depth perception.
> "Move before I move y'!"
Noel took a moment to try to snap a photo through the window while the Ranger navigated through the snarl of traffic. They weren't the only one that didn't want to have anything to do with the anomaly.
On screen, the edges were even more difficult to pick out. Video, then, would probably be easier to analyze later, so long as she didn't run out of storage space on her phone.
> "Read you, Howdy. For a second there you were coming in like a chipmunk. Something's funny with the equipment."
There was a little back and forth between Howdy and Actual, but they got their next location to confirm and Noel typed it into her maps app.
> "This one is supposed to be up high so if you have a sunroof, I guess open it."
There was no way this thing had a... Noel reached up and slid a cover back from the sunroof.
"This thing is ridiculous, you know that, right?" She poked at the buttons until the sunroof whirred back into the open position.
"Oh. we need to go more west. Take a uhh—" She flipped her phone to double check they were still going the direction she thought they were going. "Right. No. Left. Ugh. Whichever one looks good to get us to 7th. It's more south so we're going the wrong way now."
Traffic was as gnarly as ever, though going away from the ripple seemed like smoother sailing.

When Fordasaurus had moved far enough from the ripple the Ranger was able to get through to Jude. Jude guessed it was an equipment issue. ”Better not be with what I paid f’r this equipment… I think it’s the ripples. Cleared up once i got far enough away.”
The Ranger and Jude went back and forth briefly, and during the exchange a new address was supplied for Noel. It was high, this might mean they could get closer without having to hightail it out.
The beautiful thing about Manhattan was that the city was, in general, laid out in a grid so navigation was relatively painless. This gave the Ranger a general idea of where to go while Noel got the sunroof open. And she then called the Fordasaurus rediculous. The General had been ridiculous the Fordasaurus was… A little ridiculous. ”Only f’r drivin’ around here. It is perfect f’r drivin’ down the streets of Aleppo, Mosul, Fallujah, or Jacksonville.”
Noel then provided what could only loosely be called directions. While they were a little all over the place, they did accomplish the goal of telling the Ranger which street to take and what cardinal direction to be going.
He made the turn and off they went toward the ripple.
There was no wondering if they were in the right place when they arrived. The sky looked, interesting. It sat between a couple clouds distorting the sky above them. The Ranger parked the Fordasaurus for them to watch it.
Before long the edge of a cloud drifted into the ripple. It blurred as it moved across the bubble. Moments later more of the cloud moved in and the same happened. Seconds later rain began to fall. It well in waves like it had all dropped at once and then stopped. It was also ice cold. Noel could catch the sunroof, he had one hand rolling up his window, the other grabbing the mic.
”This one is confirmed too. Clouds that hit it are droppin’ freezin’ rain.”
In the time it took him to radio Jude, fog had rolled in and more sheets were falling faster. It was starting to look like a bad place for them to be parked. The Ranger put the truck into gear and started slowly creeping back down the road. Ice. The freezing rain was icing the road already. A little ice wasn’t a problem of course, the Fordasaurus was both incredibly heavy and all wheel drive. As long as he went slow he would be fine.
The truck slid and stopped.
”Y’ve got t’ be kiddin’ me.” The Ranger opened his door and leaned out to look at the tires on his side. A mound of ice had formed and the front tire had broken through it and was stuck. The rear tire was spinning on the ice.
”Either I move us or we get to stay an’ wait until the ice melts.” Steeling himself for the cold the Ranger climbed out of the truck.

Syria and Iraq, she knew, but that last one... "Florida? Why's Florida in that list?" Noel wasn't sure she'd ever been to Florida, but she was suddenly founding opinions based on the company it kept in the Ranger's sentences.
It took some circling to find the anomaly, but once they did it seemed similar enough to the previous one, just harder to see for lack of contrast. This one also seemed much smaller, perhaps because of the distance.
Noel wiggled down in her seat until she could lay her head against the center console and watch up through the open sunroof. Michael'd found them a primo spot, just under the warble in the sky. The sun was out. It was actually a pretty nice day... until a cloud rolled through. Noel snapped a still, but without zooming in it just seemed like a cloud in the sky.
The first raindrop hit the front windshield. The second hit the roof with a sharp pat. It didn't sound like hail, but it didn't sound like rain either. The original raindrop sat exactly where it'd hit the vehicle, a splatter frozen in time? No. Eventually, a drop came through the sunroof and hit Noel square on the bridge of her nose. COLD!
"It's... frozen?" The sky really opened up pelting down on the small area around the Fordasaurus. Noel slammed the interior sunroof cover shut to keep any of the electronics from getting hit and then scrabbled at the controls to seal them up inside the vehicle. The sudden inclement weather brought new life to what was starting to feel like a lazy sunshiney day.
"I didn't get a good picture." Noel complained as the Ranger CB'ed it in.
The mixture of a warm summer day and a sudden ice storm released a hiss of steam from the road which fast became a fog. The windshield was turning into an ice-coated blur. The Ranger had them inching out of their parallel parking job, but tires didn't seem to be catching for whatever reason.
The Ranger didn't seem happy about it, but he went out in the sudden chill to go handle it.
What was he going to do? Noel searched the console and glove compartment for anything useful. She found some water bottles, but nothing like she'd hoped. No cardboard to slip under to give them tread or tire chains or anything.
The vehicle jolted and Noel turned in her seat to see what the heck had managed to shake this sturdy behemoth that was the Fordasaurus. Seeing nothing obvious, she went for the controls to figure out the defrost setting to get the windshield clear.

”Have y’ ever been t’ Florida? It’s all all cuban drug lords and people eatin’ faces.” Florida wasn’t as bad as the Ranger made it sound, but any search online will quickly show Florida is a bizarre land of bath saltless zombies and alligators that eat eight point bucks. Not to mention it is so humid the people likely grew gills to survive.
When the Ranger stepped outside of the Fordasaurus and felt like he was back in Eastern Europe during the winter. In the cold with not enough clothing for it and the vehicles deciding they needed a union mandated break.
A kick at the ice around the tires didn’t break enough off and the falling rain was only adding more to replace what he cleared off. He’d have to move the truck by hand, which would be a first. He didn’t think he’d ever moved anything as big as the Fordasaurus before. First time for everything.
Moving behind the truck he grabbed the hold and lifted. After a moment his muscles grew and the back shifted. He broke the rear tires free of the ice. The entire truck rattled. He mentally prepared himself before lifting the truck again, high enough he could slip under it.
Hunching forward so the truck didn’t have to flip forward as he moved, the Ranger made his way to the middle of the truck. The seams of his clothes were giving up, large tears were forming as his muscles expanded to meet the demand. In position, he shifted how he was holding the truck around. He was now Atlas holding up truck heaven.
”Y’ might wanna buckle up. It’s about t’ get real bumpy!” He called from under the truck.
A deep breath and then he lifted.
More tears formed in the Ranger’s clothes as he lifted the Fordasaurus clear off the ground and began to walk. The truck rocked side to side as he moved. Bipedal locomotion was not luxury travel. After only a couple steps his other power joined in on the fun, such incredible muscle mass was demanding a greater oxygen supply. His lungs increased their capacity to meet it.
One step after another the Ranger carried the Fordasuaurs on his back. Ice cracked below him, but the sheer mass he carried gave him enough friction to not slide. Which was good, it would certainly kill him if he did.
It was only fifty yards feet before the Ranger was walking over ice, but the rain had stopped. Slowly the Ranger lowered the rear of the truck and made his way forward. Finally he lowered the front of the truck to the icy road. He took a step back, putting him in full view of Noel in the truck. He leaned back and popped his back.
His clothes were an absolute mess. Ripped at virtually every seam, wet from ice his heat had melted (moving a an assault vehicle burns an awful lot of calories), and oil and road grime covering it. As he made his way to the driver side door to get in he ripped his shirt off, it was so torn he didn’t bother to pull it off normally. He left it in the road.
Back in the driver seat the Ranger looked at his arms, bruises were forming where they had held some of the truck. His back must look rough. ”Note t’ self. Flamethrower. Get one.” He looked at his legs. "An' I need some new clothes." He sighed.

Ghost
There was a mother hecking earthquake.
Noel steadied herself against the car door and the console. While it was tempting to get out, a stopped car wasn't actually that bad of a place to be during a seismic event, provided that the skyscrapers didn't come down. She craned her neck to try to see, but...
The Ranger's voice roared up from beneath the floorboards.
From beneath... a couple rapid blinks and Noel popped open her side door. She wanted to swivel in her seat in order to stay grounded while looking beneath the Fordasaurus in order to confirm her suspicions, but she'd forgotten just how far down she'd have to climb in order to see.
The grunting and movements of the road beneath them was confirmation enough, though.
Ranger was carrying the truck.
The truck, the equipment, the hardtop, herself, and everything. A quick tally in her head and Noel realized that was an IN-FREAKING-SANE amount to be carrying. She shut the door again.
She... he could... yeah. If they ever fought for real he could probably, literally, rip her in half. He'd been fast at the wedding. She remembered seeing skid marks from his shoes on the balcony. He'd hefted her in his apartment, but that was all just normal muscle, she was sure.
Mental note. Never fight the Ranger for real. Not even arm wrestling.
The vehicle was set down and Noel steadied herself against the door and front dash board.
Ranger stepped out in front of the truck and popped his back. His clothes were... not clothes anymore. He had steam rising from his shoulders and head, no doubt what once had been ice was now going back through the water cycle.
Noel bobbled her phone and snapped a photo. She wasn't sure what else to do until the man hopped back into the driver's seat.
> ”Note t’ self. Flamethrower. Get one.”
All of that... and that's what he came away with? Noel coughed out a laugh and took another photo of his face so she could turn it around and show him the grease smudges and his almost shell-shocked expression. He didn't seem hurt. It was nothing short of miraculous, really.
Hadn't she seen something when she'd been looking through the vehicle for defrosting help? Glove compartment! There'd been some extra napkins at least. She pressed a few into his hands and collected her phone back.
"You are without a doubt..." Noel shook her head, unable to articulate what she meant, exactly. "Amazing." She shook her head again. That was inadequate, but as good as she was going to get for now.
"I'll let you slip into something more comfortable. Let me see what I can get on camera until then." She gave his arm a squeeze and made her way out the side door to look back at the little fog and rain storm that raged behind them. While impressive, it didn't exactly hold a candle to benchpressing a Fordasaurus.
When the Ranger had reentered the Fordasaurus he had been greeted by his photo being taken. Noel turned her phone around to show the Ranger the picture. He took the phone to get a closer look. There was no doubt he had just spent time under a truck had its grime shook loose. A few moments later and Noel was trading him napkins for her phone back.
Taking the napkins the Ranger looked at Noel. She still seemed shocked by what had just happened. By what the Ranger had just done, which to be fair the Ranger still shocked himself from time to time with what he could lift.
“You are without a doubt… Amazing.”
The Ranger wiped his face with the napkins, and succeeded more in spreading the grime than wiping it off. Not sure what to say he grinned back at Noel. He wasn’t someone who went looking for praise and from most people he let it slide past. From Noel, he genuinely appreciated it. He settled on simply saying, ”Thank y’.”
Slip into something more comfortable? What was more comfortable than no shirt and pants that now had built in air conditioning? Contrary to the ice and fog, it was June.”An here I am without ranger panties.” He replied as he slid back out the driver side door. He made his way to the back of the truck and opened it, Inside there was a case with spare clothes for just such an eventuality. It wasn’t much of a selection. A black shirt that would have a little stretch to it in case he had to use his power again. It wouldn’t stretch to lifting the Fordasaurus levels, but it would keep up if he jumped up a shirt size. Jeans… They’d just split.
While changing the Ranger realized his calves had split his boots. He changed to a pair of tennis shoes he had.
Finally, he moved his everyday carry pocket contents to his not destroyed pants. When he was ready to go he climbed out of the back of the truck. He got a good view of the storm behind them. It was a good thing he was able to get them out of that. Everything was covered in a foot of ice.
”Ready.” He said to Noel before heading back to climb into the driver’s seat and get the next location from Jude.
