Max walked down the empty sidewalk in the slowly fading sunlight. Beside him rose a chain link fence. Inside a little league baseball game was happening. The bleachers were occupied by scattered groups of adults. A boy walked up to the plate, a too large helmet on his head. Max grinned to himself at the image.
Max carried a paper bag in each arm, groceries for the week. He saw the boy swing at a pitch and the Crack of a bat sounded through the evening air. The ball rose up into the sky before plummeting down and smashing through a car window near Max. Max flinched at the noise and an apple fell out of his bag. He reached down for it.

Something bothered Max as hewalked down the empty sidewalk in the slowly fading sunlight. He felt like something was wrong, but couldn't figure out what. Beside him rose a chain link fence. Inside a little league baseball game was happening. The bleachers were occupied by scattered groups of adults. A boy walked up to the plate, a too large helmet on his head. Max frowned to himself at the image.
Max carried a paper bag in each arm, groceries for the week. He saw the boy swing at a pitch, but before the hit occurred Max knew what would happen next. He dropped the bags of groceries as the ball smashed through a car window near Max. Max flinched at the noise and an insticnt to run pulsed through him. He reached for his power and flew into the air.
He was passing the third floor of the apartment building across the street when he felt a resistance forming around him. For a moment he felt like he was trying to move through jello but he fought against the force and pulled himself up. The resistance faded and Max landed on the buildings roof looking down. Something was very wrong.
He saw the boy, the same boy walking up to the plate. He swung at the ball and Max watched as it flew out and smashed the window again. There was a shimmering in the air around the field, like heat waves off of asphalt on a hot day and the scene reset itself. Max watched the looping moment three more times staring in confusion.
Then he pulled out his phone and made a call. He'd heard rumors about strange occurances in the city. Clocks stopping and then starting randomly, people having major bouts of Deja Vu. Forty people won the lottery that week, all in New York, all saying they felt like they just knew what numbers to pick. Something was up and he needed Havens support on this one.
