As the snow continued to fall, heavier and heavier the longer it continued, the expo quickly began to shut down. Vendors pulled their wares, displays were coming down, and people were trying to leave. Had it not been a law enforcement expo it might have already become a panic. As it was it was slowly building to one. Rianne was assessing the situation when Trace commented that they might need to move. The exits were plugged by people trying to push their way out. The pressure change was having a soon to be dangerous effect on the glass of the windows. The groaning of the windows sparked another wave of panic. It was going to get ugly soon. Trace asked for ideas. ”These people are about to trample each other, but there’s nothing we can do from here without risking getting trampled ourselves.” Rianne looked around. If they moved to the exits now they’d only add to the problem. She could remove a window, but that might just spark the stampede. ”Carhartt.” She said before pointing to a booth that hadn’t been taken down yet. No guns so it wasn’t a priority.. ”We’ll have to wait to get out. Might as well be warm.” She said with her jacket pulled tight and her arms wrapped around herself. First, a warmer jacket. Second, assess were they stood in this Christmas in July June.
The booth wasn't far away, only forty yards. When Rianne made it there the snow was inches tall. The crowd was ready to erupt. Rianne grabbed the first jacket that looked like it would fit and was not just for rain. It was not her favorite shade of brown by any stretch of the imagination, but it was warm!
As she slid on the jacket a howl of wind went through the convention hall and it whipped up the snow. Rianne wasn't a fan of winter. She especially wasn't a fan of the winter when she came dressed for summer.
There was a scream. The glass started shattering. The world was turning white.
"We need to get out of this blizzard!"
