The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

There was that conviction again.
Tarin wasn't sure what Trace expected after his ranted rave about getting up off your duff and doing something about the condition of things.
It probably wasn't for the medium to start laughing...and laughing...and laughing.
"Miss Cleo?" he wheezed slightly as he worked to catch his breath, "I haven't heard that one before. The sad thing about the woman was that she could genuinely see the spirits. She just decided all that schtick was necessary. Who needs a 1-900 number? Word of mouth does plenty once you're established."
As for the rest of it.
"Of course you're not a helpless puppy, but you haven't even seen the tip of the iceberg when it comes to what I can do." Tarin said, shaking his head. "I'm not interested in a measuring contest though. You've had enough of a rough time today. I'm not interested in a job though."
This guy was still in the dark about what his higher ups were doing, and it wasn't fair to expect more than Trace could give.
"Before you call someone a hypocrite though, you should look into exactly what happens to the people you pick up on the street. The folks who are too "dangerous" to stay in public."
Just in case, Tarin readied himself to call for the spirits. Sometimes these kinds of offers were the sort you weren't supposed to refuse. Hopefully the guy made the right choice though.

Tarin started… Laughing? Really? Trace thought back about what he said and could not for the life of him figure out what he’d said that could be construed as funny. He’d just given a serious pitch about a serious opportunity to do something in the world and this guy was laughing?! That was almost more than Trace could handle. ¬This was clearly becoming a lost cause faster than Trace could scramble to put it all back together. The only question was, would he attempt to follow the other part of his assignment?
Then Tarin started wheezing out an explanation about why he was laughing. The Miss Cleo bit, huh? Well, that was better than having him laugh at the prospect of Trace being able to handle himself. A challenge like that might not have been able to slide by un-answered so easily. And, apparently, the woman that Trace had grown up believing to be a two-bit fraud was actually legit. Who would’ve thought that a person could diminish their true abilities like that by trying to monetize themselves.
“I really don’t want it to come to that, Tarin.” Trace said in response to the man’s comments about not knowing exactly what he could do and not wanting to get into a measuring contest. At least both of them were pretty much on the same page as far as all that went. He really didn’t want to see this turn into some kind of fight. That wasn’t the objective of the mission and it really wasn’t something that Trace would find acceptable. Which pretty much made up his mind on whether or not he was going to try and tag the mutant.
“I’ve done my share of looking. There are accidents and there are mistakes. But I’ve seen the damage that some of these people have done first hand. It’s not as clear cut as you think and there are way more people out there who can’t protect themselves or do anything about it. I think that those of us who can, should. I’m sticking to that.” Trace said, pulling a business card holder out of his pocket.
From the holder, he fished out a personal business card. The phone number on the card would get the caller directly to Trace, on a line that had not been provided by SUPER. It had been made evident that Tarin was not going to accept the offer set before him today, but that didn’t mean that he’d refuse it outright. “At least think about what I’ve said. There’s always a chance to do good.” Trace said, placing the card on a nearby table. “That number will get you to me. Not SUPER, not a switchboard or anything of the sort. Contact me if you need to.” Trace said, seriously.

No...he really didn't want it to come to that, Tarin agreed as Trace voiced the exact sentiment the Medium had been hoping for. Regardless of how competent the guy was, Tarin was very confident in the fact that he would come out on top in a fight. At least here where there were so many spirits willing to help in exchange for a friendly ear.
Still with the principles and earnestness. It was all well and good, but Tarin figured he'd said his piece about the whole thing and was ready to move on. Trace could wander around with his blinders on all he wanted. It was going to take a lot more than Tarin to convince the Agent that he was working for the bad guys. For the first time in a while, Tarin wished he was back at home in the shop, at least then he could have called a few witnesses to shore up his case.
Trace offered a card, and Tarin took it. If all else failed he could throw it away after Trace left. Maybe he'd keep it though, one never knew when it might be handy to know someone in an organization like...SUPER, he had called it?
"I'll keep that in mind." he said. Then thought for a moment.
"You don't think I could get a ride back to the mainland, do you?"
