The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Khalil flew behind June, and slightly above, watching her progress warily. Learning to fly was like learning to ride a bike. It had taken many months of practice for the young Khalil to master. He was surprised June had gotten it so quickly--
Of course, right around the time that this conscious thought crossed his mind, June plummeted momentarily, sending a thrill of terror through the demon. He dove to catch her, but she managed herself before losing too much altitude. Sure, he was an arsonist, and whether-or-not he'd ever killed someone was open to debate, but seeing such a beautiful face splattered on the sidewalk was not on his to-do list for the evening. June was a nice girl-- a nice, power-copying girl-- and she didn't deserve such an unjust end.
Khalil righted himself too, now flying slightly below her. This position was far better, in case he needed to catch her.
A mischevious smile crossed his expression. What an absolute imp.
"Well, alright then-- let's stick it to the man."
He was starting to feel giddy, too-- maybe after they stole some stuff, he could set a few things on fire. Burn a mannequin. The possibilities were endless.
He swooped. That was both reassuring and galvanizing. June didn't want to be swept off of her feet... err wings. She was taking charge of her fate. No! She was telling her fate to go stuff it! And Khalil was just the devil she'd been looking for to inspire her to greater misdeeds. With his power, she was telling gravity to go suck eggs as well.
"Let's go make a mess of ze Fall line." She wished that she could have done a barrel roll or something fancier than the struggle of keeping all the moving parts where they needed to move. It felt like a declaration that needed some pizazz to go with it. Something more than just catching an updraft and cycling her bare feet through the air.
"Zere is some small matter I did not sink srough." The glass building was approaching faster than she'd expected. There was no traffic up here. No brakes either. She'd been gliding toward it, but it was a big building and there was no middle of the building balcony or window access...
"How is ze landing supposed to work?" June flapped those great and powerful sounding wings, loving the feeling of the wind they displaced, and terrified that she wouldn't be able to climb enough to get to the roof.
"Your advice on zis matter, monsieur Khalil, would be greatly appreciated." She tried not to let that thread of panic show and she redoubled her efforts, but it didn't look like it would be enough.
It would be sad to collide with her boss' window like a pigeon, but that looked to be her imminent fate.

Khalil nodded skyward at June's inquiry, towards the roof that his companion was so concerned about reaching.
"We should find somewhere flat to land," the cat-eyed man crooned, "A rooftop or a patio." some of these glass-walled buildings had uneven sides with picnic benches placed on fenced outcroppings. Either that, or it'd be a roof.
"Otherwise, we're clinging to spires like the little devils that we are," Khalil concluded. His eyes swept the surface of the building, looking for some blemish in the facade, something that would suggest a place to land. There was no such outcropping.
"The roof," Khalil decided, "Bank upwards."
Nearly every building had rooftop access. And with such... incendiary... talents as his, he could make fast work of any lock they had. Though he instructed June to bank upwards, he waited for her to make the first move-- if there were any flukes, he would catch her.
