Gina nodded appraisingly. It sounded beautiful-- like old people and judo, but for young people who liked to dance. Capoeira. She was about to comment about how cool that sounded when Elliot deposited his trash-picking tools on the ground. Whaaaaat was he doing? Why was he running? The cartwheel on its own was impressive, but it became something else entirely-- it was surreal.
"Oo!" the gargoyle gasped. He wasn't done. He was standing on his hands, "Whoa!" He contorted and spun, and finally landed on his feet again, "Dude!" Gina clapped appreciatively. She'd never seen anyone move like that before. She stopped clapping to let him explain.
>> "It's a Brazilian martial art that combines dance, music, and acrobatics. Sometimes, people practice together in a sort of sparring dance... kind of like that. The games more about skill than winning a fight. Like a dance off, I guess?... I like other kinds of dancing, too. In clubs. Went to one with a jumbo shrimp recently. Had good music."
Whatever qualms Elliot might have about surprise dance parties, Gina was there to dispell them, for as soon as he finished explaining, she was gushing with questions, "How much training did it take for you to get to that point?! I mean... I can't..." she moved her hands around in a similar, but obviously unskilled, circular fashion, "...I am at a loss for words. That's so cool!"
Gina resumed hunting for clutter with her spear, "I mean, I go clubbing, and love dancing just as much as the next girl, but that? Thaaat's poetry."
She shook her head, "Whaddya mean you went to a club with a shrimp? Like a shrimp mutant?"

Gee. It was nice to be appreciated. The gargoyle gal thought his moves were pretty cool. Lots of oohing and ahhing. Clapping and whoa dudes. The reaction was positive enough that he explained what he'd done. There was still the chance she'd think it was goofy, or not quite a dance, and he was a little self conscious, but-- she chased those fears away.
Gina was really excited about capoeira. She wanted to know how long he'd trained, and she seriously couldn't even. She thought it was SO COOL. He found himself beaming, and his cheeks mighty even have turned a brownish green from a slight blush.
He answered her question first. "I picked it up when I was a teenager. It isn't in incredibly hard, but there's a lot of acrobatics. It does take some practice." Elliott said.
He smiled at her compliment. Poetry? "Well, thank you." Elliott replied.
He spoke about other dancing, and clubs-- and she asked him about the jumbo shrimp.
Heh. He hadn't really expected to have to tell the story. Mainly because she was the bouncer and he'd sneaked into the club. Not exactly squeaky clean.
"Yeah. She looked like this large rainbow shrimp. Really interesting. She worked there as a bouncer." He picked up his tool and bag, and started hunting and pecking at bits of trash. "I was making a delivery and she helped me find who I was looking for." Best to end the story there. Not quite a full lie. He had found the person, and she had been there when he had. How the rest of it played out was best left to the imagination.
Elliott changed the subject as he pushed trash away into his bag. "I bet you could learn how to do this-- or something similar. I'm not quite sure how well wings would respond to backflips." Maybe if she tied them behind her back, they'd be alright?
