The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Breakfast was wonderful, if not quick. The food was delicious, but they were eating impatiently because there was a dessert course to look forward to. Rebecca wondered if this was what it felt like to be a honeymooner; indulging in treats and indulging in each other, having no desire to keep their hands to themselves. They made an inevitable return to the silky sheets they became tangled in and under, hoping to take advantage of every passing minute they could. It would not be their last time, they knew, but the lovers had a long absence to make up for.
As check-out time drew near, they took separate showers to prepare for the day. The idea of sharing the shower again was bandied about, but they were both smart enough to know what that would lead to, and they did not have time to fit one last round in. They had to be presentable, because there was a task they were both preparing to walk into, and while it was necessary, it was nothing to look forward to.
After spending a lengthy period of time drying and combing her hair, Rebecca was sitting on the couch near the window, reapplying her perfume when Agnes emerged from the bathroom, readying herself for the outside world.
It was something Rebecca could have assumed was coming, but it still felt reassuring to hear Agnes confirm out loud that she was meeting with River to end things and call off the engagement. She watched as Agnes returned an engagement ring to her finger, hopefully for the last time. Rebecca stood from the seat, walking over to her beloved and taking her right hand. She planted a soft kiss on the ringless hand and looked up, hoping to provide some reassurance. ”Ah’m gonnae dae th' sam wi' Nessa. When th' doost clears, we'll still be thaur fur each other.” Rebecca needed to remind Agnes that their decision was not going to be easy, but they would get through it as a team. ”We're best together, Aggie. A’ays waur.”
It was beginning to wake up from a dream. The two had had just a lovely evening, such a sweet and endearing time that she tried to push off thinking about what was waiting for her in the real world for as long as possible. She didn’t want to think about what was going to happen when they left those doors, she would rather focus the entirety of her attention on the sweet and seductive redhead who was preparing to leave alongside her. However, they eventually had to face the real world; the only thing that gave Agnes any comfort in that was the fact that they would be facing it together.
This was going to suck. Agnes tried not to but she began to play as many scenarios in her head as she possibly could concerning her meeting with River. They had some rather loud arguments. She was hoping that if they met at a coffeeshop or something public, that would help to quell River’s anger a little bit. It was a bit of a sneaky tactic butt Agnes really didn’t want to have another shouting match with the Sioux. Deep down, she still loved her, but she knew now what she had been lying to herself about – she would never love River as much as she loved Rebecca. It was like a universal law by now.
After confirming that she was going to end things with River, Agnes knew that this was the point of no return. She had given her word to the redhead that things between her and her fiancée were over and she was going to see this through, no matter how much it hurt her to do it. Agnes didn’t want this, she didn’t want there to be another incident like with Jasmine. She had felt like absolute trash after what she had done to her and she had promised herself that it wasn’t going to happen again.
However, she was willing to convince herself that this was different. Unlike with Jasmine, she wasn’t a kid and, deep down, she knew what she wanted. She wanted Rebecca and, most of all, she wanted this to be the absolute last time that they had to break other hearts in order to be together. She hoped that it was just the universe’s way of telling them that they needed to stop ****ing around and just accept that they were supposed to be together.
She wanted to convince herself of that so badly but she guessed it was just going to have to take faith to believe in that.
Rebecca understood that this was going to be a harsh situation for the both of them and stood up from her seat and wandered over to Agnes’ side. Taking her hand, Agnes smiled as her ringless hand was kissed by the sweet redhead. She nodded her head, thankful that she was at her side for this. It was such a sweet gestured that it made her wings flutter a little bit.
>> ”Ah’m gonnae dae th' sam wi' Nessa. When th' doost clears, we'll still be thaur fur each other…We're best together, Aggie. A’ays waur.”
Agnes nodded. Tears threatened to fall but they were tears of happiness that she wouldn’t be going through this by herself. If she had to, honestly, she wasn’t sure if she could have taken it. But, to know how much Rebecca cared about her, about how they were finally going to be together, it was all that the violinist could ask for. So, leaning in, she kissed the redhead on her lips and pressed her forehead to her own while she nodded her head.
”Ditto.” She issued a deep sigh, planted another kiss on her, and glanced to the door. ”Are…you ready to do this?”

Agnes was feeling hesitant, and it was hard to blame her. She was not breaking up with a girlfriend, she was ending an engagement. Rebecca would never think to compare what they were doing as equal, but she wanted her lover to know that they were going to support each other. If this was going to be more difficult for Agnes, it would be the redheads duty to find a way to take some of that burden from her.
Her efforts were rewarded with another soft, sweet kiss and a forehead pressed against hers. How did Rebecca ever let this girl go when she was struggling now to leave her for any length of time. She was already picturing her life with Agnes again, and it was lovely, if not less productive. If Agnes was in her bed when she woke up, how was she ever going to convince herself to go teach her classes? Maybe she could find a way to teach remotely without leaving her bed; they had the technology, right?
The kiss was perfect, as was every kiss, (bacon bits aside,) but Rebecca giggled and slowly, begrudgingly pulled away. ”Careful, Ah’ve got mah perfume oan again. Ye dornt have th’ time fur anaither shower.” As much as she looked forward to another round of kissing, they had something important to take care of first, which meant caring about evidence a bit longer.
”Are…you ready to do this?”
Rebecca steeled her resolve. She was ready, and she wanted to believe Agnes was ready as well. They loved each other, and they were going to walk away without finding some way to deny that again. This was the final push they needed… she was sure of it. She had to be.
Smiling, Rebecca took Agnes’s hand in her own and looked at the door. ”Ah’m ready. Thes is all Ah want. Ah loove ye,” she reminded Agnes one last time before walking hand-in-hand with her toward the door. She would not let go of that hand through the hall, the elevator, or the lobby. She had one rule now, and that was whenever she could keep Agnes close, she would. She would not make the same mistakes twice.
