The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

It was early when Xavia settled herself onto a quilt in St. Nicholas Park; the mist was still curling and undulating in frothy waves against dew covered grass. She always loved it when the sun barely came out of hiding and started to paint the canvas of the sky in a myriad of pinks and golds, eventually to dispel the mist until the grass became gem like.. The sound of the birds singing made it feel as if she was audience to a symphony, while the gentle wind provided percussion with the creaking trees and the leaves. Indeed, she lay there on the soft, worn fabric, hair spread out, face tilted toward the sun in the most secluded spot she could find.
Beside the woman was a guitar and a raggedy looking notebook, the cover hanging halfazzardly from the spiral to indicate the many uses; chewed up pencil poised between graceful digits while she thought of lyrics that had yet to be concocted. It seemed like the sun was a bit higher in the sky when inspiration struck, teeth worrying at her bottom lip as she opened the notebook to one of the remaining blank pages. She tapped at the object with the nub that was the erasure, then flipped the utensil about to scrawl words out.
"I still dream of you... Even if you've been gone for too damn long. My heart beats fast for you... The picture in my head's still going strong..." She sighed with some satisfaction, sat up cross-legged to pluck the guitar from the blanket. Xavia strummed a few chords at first, then settled on one, singing the words out loud in her smoky voice, pausing to write more words every once in awhile as they came to her.
To anyone who might approach the scene: The grass seemed greener around her, flowers perked up within a certain radius. The plant life seemed to lean toward her ever so subtly as if it could hear the words she sang. They would see an unusually ethereal beauty just about the woman on the rumpled quilt... And perhaps catch the scent of roses in the air, most certainly natural as opposed to synthetic. They would hear a voice that had been played on the radio, even if it was rare to hear a song of hers.

Geo hated early morning Dew. It left the ground quiet and unresponsive. It was an eerie feeling for the elemental. He sat on the concrete edge of the path in St. Nicholas Park. As he sipped at his morning coffee he glared at the glistening surface of grass in frustration. Why was water such a common part of the world? Why couldn't his weakness be radiated bit of a planet that was incredibly rare like a normal super powered individual. He heaved a sigh as he rested his hand on a large stone in the pocket of his jeans. It was the only material he could feel in his range, the dew blanketing the area acted as a nullifying agent to his pull on the ground. It was like having a limb that was asleep, there was times he even felt that he missed the comforting embrace of his connection with the earth.
This was a nice park though. It had more landscape to it, stones and small drops even small wooded bits one could hide in. It felt more natural then the endless flat fields that most New Yorkers considered a 'park'. They all paled in comparison to the freedom he had felt in the vast deserts of the American south west. He was a bird who was let out of a cage. Looking up at the buildings that surrounded them he realized he was neck deep in that cage once again. Of his own choosing no less.
It was then that he caught the sound of music in the crisp morning air. Geo tended to enjoy street musicians. Quickly he climbed to his feet and strode in the direction of the music. He cringed a bit as his feet met the wet grass though he powered through. To his surprise the music wasn't coming from the surrounding streets. But rather a small nook in the park, a bit out of the way where Geo was met with the smell of wild roses. Intrigue severely peeked the elemental moved into the grove to find a lady. A lovely one at that, making a beautiful melody of music. The world around her seemed to glow with her presence, though Geo had come in slightly behind her so he hadn't been noticed yet. Clearing his voice he spoke out, just to make his presence known.
"Parden my intrusion Miss." His gravelly voice spoke carefully so as not to startle her. "But I couldn't help but notice you have yourself quite the gift there." A warm smile crossed his face as he pulled his hair up out of his face and into a bun.
She continued to sing, sometimes humming, gesturing to herself, writing stuff down, and testing chords... There was certainly no need for autotune with her and her voice might be familiar if he frequented jazz clubs at all. She was in the process of finishing a line on the paper when she heard the voice behind her that caused her to half turn so she could view the one that spoke.
Caramel hues settled on his face, not so much in surprise as acknowledgement. The woman was clad in a simple, white lace dress over dove gray leggings, shoes and socks laying abandoned near her guitar case. Her hair was a sock of Manic Panic blood red beneath the dark roots, curls soft against olive skin.
When she smiled, it was an easy and natural smile that came to full, carmine lips. "T'ank you," eventually came her reply, an earthy sound with alto tones. Xavia did not dismiss him when she turned back around, just did the action to set the raggedy looking pencil back on an equally raggedy notebook. She turned enough to give a sidelong glance to the fellow.
Awareness rippled through her. She frowned in puzzlement, then moved to stand, padding in his direction. It never seemed to happen in this manner before... Whenever she might have an attraction to another being, it was usually an animal magnetism she tended to ignore. In all honesty, she hardly showed interest in the opposite sex since her one and only, Jupiter.
This was not an animal attraction... It was not even attraction of the romantic type. Or so she assumed. The closer she got, the stronger the scent of roses, like he walked into a rose arbor. She stopped within an arms length of him, and he would likely notice that a delicate and petite form stood before him. With head canted to the side and brows puckered, she studied him in silence.
After a long moment of standing in perpetual confusion, she pulled back and moved to her quilt, unable to shake the feeling of being near a kindred spirit. She almost never got those feelings; but the man reminded her of something she could not quite put her finger on. "Huh..." She said at last.
Somewhat taken aback by her own reaction, she closed her notebook, set the guitar in the case, and moved to sit facing him. "You do not intrude," she said in her heavy accented tongue. "But you do intrigue. You... Seem familiar, but I never saw you before."
The elemental wasn't well known for paying attention. If he had heard the woman's voice before it alluded him, though it definitely had an alluring quality to it. She didn't seem to be startled by his presence with any luck. She handled herself in a very sure and steady way that Geo found to be quite curious. Though even more curious still was the frown that seemed to form on her face upon taking a moment to turn back and look at him. Had he done something to offend? Who was he to come trampling in on this woman's obvious alone time. As she stood and began walking towards him an air of unease came about him. The closer she got the stronger the scent of roses seemed to overtake the rest of the scents the park seemed to offer.
The musician got within arms reach of him, he could have easily reached out and touched her. Though she stood there studying him, like he had some secrets to offer. Geo held his breath as a look of confusion formed on his face. His discomfort was clear, his hands were out of his pockets and balancing himself out as he leaned back slightly against the woman's approach. There was a long moment before she seemed to give up on what she was looking for and returned back to her quilt.
"Well I mean I tend to travel around a lot. Big city being what it is you may have seen me in passin'." Geo said with a slight shrug. As she went back to her quilt he felt slightly more at ease. He hadn't expected the reaction he had gotten. "Though I'd have to say I never forget a pretty lady. I'm Geo. Maybe you've seen me around the Sanctuary? Though you don't seem to fit the homeless stereotype." Granted he did. His bare feet below frayed jeans and a dusty green t-shirt certainly painted the picture of a man living on the streets of New York."
"Sanctuary?" She asked, startled. She had not been to the sanctuary in years. If by "sanctuary," he meant the place where people like her went; the gifted. Did that mean he figured her to be a mutant? She didn't exactly flaunt her gift, but she did not hide it either... His assumption would also mean the he, too, would be gifted. She was wary as she opened her mouth to speak.
"I have only ever been t'ere a few times, years ago when I was homeless... I do not have a reason now, squatting in houses is no longer an issue for me," She gave a light shrug, silently adding, Not unless the father of my kid comes around again. But... All the waiting for him to show up one day was wearing upon her... Perhaps it wouldn't hurt to finally let go. But he probably never encountered her back then. Would it hurt if she flirted?
"I am Xavia," she said, deciding to take a tentative approach with the interaction. She relaxed some, trying to ignore the pangs of the past and to focus on the now. Xavia chewed upon her bottom lip, observing him from her perch upon the patchwork fabric.
She knew of the Sanctuary at least. Depending on how many years ago she had been to the shelter there was a chance their paths had crossed. Who knew with how busy it was at that time. He hadn't thought of the implications the Sanctuary brought along with it. Being primarily a shelter for mutants the question both in turn revealed himself as a mutant as well as herself. He made a mental note that being more tactful would probably be a good idea for some of the more skittish of his kind.
"Well I suppose there would be chance that our paths may have crossed. I'm a somewhat...permanent resident." It was hard to explain his arrangement with Devon. Geo considered himself an unspoken guardian for the younger residents, going out of his way to get involved in their lives. Not to mention being one of the first on the front line if their was ever a fight to break out on the premises.
"Xavia. A lovely name for an equally lovely woman. The pleasure is mine." Stepping forward Geo walked to the edge of the blanket before coming to sit in the grass. "Do you mind if I share this fine morning with you? You certainly seem like the most interesting soul in this park." A warm smile crossed his lips as he took a sip out of his coffee. Sure it probably wasn't standard practice to intrude on a private picnic of sorts but Geo wasn't standard. Besides, judging from her previous display she had no problem being forward and telling to get lost.
"You play with practiced hands. How long have you been making music?"
"Mmm, I only paid attention to Jupiter in t'ose days," she said with a sigh, "A long time ago." The woman wrapped her arms around her legs, watching as he chose to sit off the blanket and then asked if he could join. Her brows raised as the feeling intensified. "I play piano, mostly, but music was always in my life. My papa believed it help plants grow to play music in greenhouse. He t'ought I make plant grow wit' music."
Ahh, how she missed her dad. She was glad she could be there with him when he passed away. "Join if you wish, Geo." She gestured, even though he was already sitting down. He would most certainly notice the scent change to lilacs she spoke of her father. Her father's favorite scent was lilac.
If he was flirting with her, she wasn't exactly sure how to respond in kind. Flirtation wasn't exactly her forte. At least, not off the stage. Her head tilted again as she studied her new companion. What in the hell was the familiar feeling? It was bothering the hell out of her. It wasn't his smooth talking, nor was it his looks... Not to say he didn't have em, but she never really cared about that. She had dated a freakin red beast of a man... No, it was something more.... Earthy...
She didn't realize that his presence was intensifying her abilities a touch. Behind her, the flowers that were not exactly in bloom yet, unfurled their petals and leaned toward her (only in that circle around her.) She obviously did not know what just happened, she was too busy studying him.
Jupiter? Now there was a name he hadn't heard in a dogs age. His features visibly lit up as the mention of one of his oldest friends came up. Abyss and the clones had been a regular part of his life for a long time. She must have been around while Geo was away. Then again the clones did always tend to do their own thing.
"Now that's a name I know well. I've been known to roll with a few jolly red giants in my prime. You haven'..." The elemental hesitated visibly before continuing. He wasn't sure under what conditions the sigh that accompanies the clones name had been formed. "I haven't been able to find them since I got back in town. I was gone for a while." He nodded in thanks as she gave him permission to join her though he stayed firmly planted on the ground, preferring it to the cloth. The ground was finally starting to dry and Geo could feel slight bits of his hold returning. Besides he didn't want to ruin her nice blanket with his dusty feet.
"Your Papa seems like a wise man. Music can effect the world around us in so many ways." Glancing over her shoulder Geo noticed a flower come in to bloom, this brought to his attention the plant life around them and the way it seemed to gravitate to the woman.
"Though from the looks of it. So can you." Typing his cup towards the bushes behind Xavia he then took a sip of the black liquid. The elemental gave a smiling nod of approval. It was impressive, he always enjoyed the powers of mutants who worked with nature around them. It was mutation in it's purest form, a collaboration with nature to make something better. A connection with the world around them in a way the cookie cutter humans that roamed the earth couldn't.
"I have been looking for him for long time. I... Was supposed to marry him but... T'ings happened... I need to speak to him..." A look of sadness crossed her face as she spoke of these things. Actually, it really hurt to hear that all the clones were missing. She actually had to stand up and walk away, but only to the nearest tree to lean against it... "Where are you?"
She turned toward Geo, face stricken. "He needs to come home. Jupiter... I... He needs to know he has a little girl. I have to find..." Her words came to a halt as she realized she blurted out this secret she never told anyone aside from her mother. She clearly wanted to do the right thing and couldn't because he skipped town.
Xavia closed her eyes and leaned heavily against the tree, her breathing turned painful as she tried to calm herself. But she couldn't seem to hold it together. And it was all her damn fault! If she hadn't screwed everything up by running off to effing Romania.
"I am sorry... I did not mean to freak out." She moved toward the quilt again, sitting down and looking down at the hands she was wringing.
Geo regretted bringing up the red mutant instantly. It was a sore subject apparently. Guess he wasn't the only one looking for the bunch though there was no doubt that her cause was more important. He'd have to make sure to point Jupiter in her direction if he came across the clones though maybe skip out on the details, that wasn't something he wanted to drop. She seemed aware at least that it wasn't the most comfortable of situations apologizing at once.
"No need to apologize. Sound's like you have plenty reasoning to be upset. He knew what it was like to have a daughter once. Or at least he would have? Having been flung into future events really had a way of messing with your memory. The emotions were real at least, that much he knew. Still made him wonder where Wildfire was. He had dated her his early days in the Order. Turns out had things been on path would have even been the mother to his daughter.
"Don't fret about me there Xavia. I don't freak out too easy, years of messed up conditioning." He half joked through a light chuckle, at least trying to bring up the mood at least. He didn't do well with the uncomfortable, at least not always. Rain had a way of taking him off of his game. "Of course I've probably caused just as much so that's natural Karma for you."
To her credit, she didn't cry. The time for crying had come and gone. She was not numb to the loss of love by any means, but she was well aware of the fact that she had to live her life. She spent several long moments, hands wringing as she sought to steady her nerves. She eventually leveled her gaze upon his face and tried to smile, though it fell flat.
When next she spoke, it was to thank him. "I appreciate you understanding." Her voice sounded slightly ragged for the moment. "You are mutant too? Might explain t'ings." She nodded, then adjusted herself to sit on her knees. She regarded him with a curious look, shifted her hand through her hair and awaited his reply.
Xavia seemed to calm herself the best she could, resisting the urge to reach out and touch his shoulder. "If your name is Geo, does t'at mean you are of Eart'? It would make so much sense why." She was making guesses based on observation. Call it the science teacher in her.
Again, she waited for a reply, quietly calm by that point.
The elemental nodded courteously as she stated her appreciation. Though she seemed to quickly want to change the subject. Geo was more than happy with that. He didn't want to stick his nose where it didn't belong.
"Mutant and proud. Though I'm sure you probably guess that given my associates." The Order was known for their pride in heritage and over exuberance when it came to it. Though that was all an opinion. Mutant rights were just the flavor of the week, or in this case generation. There was no doubt that mutants themselves would one day refer to this age as the great awakening.
"You'd be spot on with that miss." Pulling his hand out with a flourishing swish the stone in his pocket disintegrated. The broken down pieces floated between the fabric of his jeans to reassemble in a jagged form in his hand. "I talk to Mother Earth and she listens. We're one in the same. It's like a piece of me." He spoke of the earth like a loving relative. It was the closest thing to a parents loving embrace he had known.
"What kind of gifts do you have there? Other than your musical talent that is."
Her pupils seemed to shift sizes, from dilating to contracting as she took the information in. It was no wonder he drew her like a magnet. She let go of a baited breath, then lifted her hand in front of her face. It started with a sprout, then the green vines of a climbing rose bush began to twist around her. Several crimson blooms burst open, one by one, until she slowed the happening. With a movement from her, the vines shriveled and the blossoms wilted, then withered into dust.
Xavia watched his face as she moved her hand to the grass and touch the ground. There was a cherry sapling that was just within range, within eye sight of him, which thickened in girth and sprouted in height, forming more branches and leaves, as well as blooming gloriously pink. Soon, petals began showering down upon the scene when a breeze picked up. Her eyes closed and she tilted her head back, giggling softly as petals brushed across her face.
Moments go by before she opened her eyes, and she leveled her gaze once more. She could have done more, but she wasn't a showoff. "Plants are my power. I make from self, manipulate t'em, and even become t'em. My blood carries plant cells." She bit her lip as she awaited his reaction. The scene was actually rather breathtaking, her laugh had been musical and probably infectious, though short lived.
Xavia had never encountered someone who she had immediately felt a pull to except for Jupiter. Her smile died again as this awareness buzzed within her again, and the scent of the roses even became slightly heady at the shift of awareness. She licked suddenly dry lips and cleared her throat, letting her gaze drop. "Now I understand." She might be in denial, but there was clearly a natural attraction and she was trying to will it otherwise, obviously.
Stop this! Her inner voice was pretty much telling her off... You don't know him and you haven't been with anyone since Jupiter... It's just a passing thing!
But he's adorable, the other side purred within her thoughts...
Sh*t!
"I... I had better go," she whimpered out, face suddenly as red as the roses she smelled like. She moved to stuff things into her bag...
Her display of her abilities was breathtaking. Geo loved witnessing the natural beauty that was a mutant in their purest form using their unique talents. As the vines and branches turned and twisted around her in bloomed in flowers he had never seen before the elemental sat wide eyes and mouth a gap in awe. A beautiful display indeed. But the real finale was the tree. How amazing it was to watch a sapling go through years and years of growth in a matter of moments only to shed its vibrant pink petals cascading them over the two.
Now he felt like he had undersold himself. The dew hindering his own natural gifts. He could still feel the lull in the dirt to his response, still moist with water though the sun was starting to dry it up. But what really caught his interest was when she said that her blood itself carried plant cells. Geo's face lit up with excitement.
"I'm made up of the same stuff as dirt! I don't know all the scientific terms and all that but it's like my cells are made up of the same stuff. I kinda shed and replace my cells with more material. Watch." Holding out his hands Geo clapped them together and rubbed them furiously together like a kungfu guru. A steady stream of fine grained sand fell from between the two hands as he broke free the worn out cells. It was a strange after effect to his mutation but Geo suspected it was why he had medical problems if he didn't get some time in the sandbox.
Maybe that was what she was trying to figure out. Plants. Earth. Made sense, the two were symbiotic in nature. The earth providing nutrients while the plants roots brought stability to the earth. A curious interaction that made the interaction of the two mutants all the more unique.
Then suddenly her mood shifted. She seemed to spook suddenly, apologizing and insisting that she must leave. The elemental took a defensive concerned tone, worried he had done something to rub Xavia the wrong way.
"No no no. Please. I apologize if I caused any offense. Here, I'm the visitor so I'll get out of your hair." The elemental climbed to his feet before giving a slight bow to the woman and back peddling towards the way he had come.
He was so earnest, she paused what she was doing to watch him do what he was doing. Then he voiced his concern that he had offended her, which caused her to drop her belongings to wave her hands as she denied any offense, "No! Nono! I..." This would be the difficult part; how would she explain to this stranger that she was most definitely attracted, but didn't know if it was his charm or his mutation... After all, she had never encountered someone that made so much sense to want to get closer to him.
Ugh. Why?!
She placed her hands over her burning cheeks and she said, "I should leave because I..." Xavia found herself unable to anser at first, then said in an almost too soft voice, "Because I will get myself in trouble if I stay..." Oh please, she thought, please get my meaning. Here was this complete stranger, he was good looking, and she was drawn to him. It had to have been his mutation that drew her.
None of this made sense to her. She stared helplessly in his direction, unable to move because something in her was kicking hard at her gut. This was crazy! It had to be that she was just.. Hungry for human contact, to distract her from self imposed punishment. She drew in a shuddering breath and dropped her hands.
It obviously scared her to be so attracted, so quickly. It was blatantly obvious... She turned her head to the side, having stopped talking after her confession.
