The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

They sun had just risen when he arrived on the slightly chilly beach. He was wearing a hoodie but Max knew the day was supposed to be a warm one and he was excited to take in the ocean air as he allowed himself to just stand and take in all the glory of the sunrise.
"Okay let's get started" He said to himself.
It took about a half an hour to find all the resources he wanted. He walked up and down the beach enjoying the feel of the air pumping in and out of his lungs as he went. When we finished he found a flat plot of beach and dropped the massive bundle of sticks, seashells, and driftwood he had gathered and set to work.
Moat people would think building a sand castle was a childish way to spend a morning, but Max felt like his life had been a little too serious lately and felt a grin spread across his face as he worked. He adjusted the gravity on himself to almost nothing so as not to hinder his work and set to work digging out sand with the small shovel and pail he had brought with him.
It was a daunting task but Max enjoyed the meticulous labor. He started by compressing the sand with his shovel to make a floor and set to work building.
Time passed in a blur and before he knew it his stomach was growling and he checked his phone to see that it was almost noon. He had built a massive structure. The first floor comprising of an archway on one side large enough to walk under supported by wood. He had pushed seashells into the sand creating a rather unique design on the arch. He had mirrored it on the opposing side and left the other two walls closed off. Inside he built a small spiral staircase that led to a second floor and built a support structure underneath using the sticks and wood along with wet sand.
The second story was open and he had sculpted out tower like blocks to give the structure a castle like feel. Four pieces of driftwood formed a support above that and Max used some seaweed and sand to build a small roof for the top level. He had decorated the place with seashells making it look like a structure you would expect to see in "The Little Mermaid" leagues under the sea.
He looked down and saw a small crowd had formed around him as he built. People were taking pictures on their phones and he saw someone had placed a hat on the beach that was slowly filling with change and small bills. The crowd might have deterred some from working but honestly Max loved the attention.
He finished his work and floated down to the beach, slowly enough to not cause harm but fast enough to not seem inhuman. He collected the small amount of earnings he had received and sat in the arch facing the ocean. From his pack he produced a ham sandwich in a zip lock bag along with some chips and began to chomp down his makeshift meal.

Kendra spent her nights dream walking. She could not turn it off. And already wandering around that large mansion was making her feel all cooped up. Kendra just wanted to get out and get some air for awhile. She knew the sun would be rising soon judging from the light in the sky. Kendra found her way off the mansion grounds and just walked. It wasn't like she was running away. Her body was back in her room in the mansion. She didn't have to worry about getting lost because when she woke up she would be back in the mansion. Back in her bed. Safe and sound.
She was wearing a pair of pajamas and a spaghetti strap tank top. She figured it didn't matter what she wore. No one could see her anyways. Kendra couldn't be seen by the naked eye. Though psychics could see her, and she could be seen in reflective surfaces. Things that Kendra had yet to learn. She had no friends yet. She had met a few people since arriving at the mansion, but no one she considered friends. She felt like the odd man out most of the time. So it was doing her some good to get out of the mansion for a bit and just explore around New York. She hadn't gotten a chance to see much of it since she had arrived here a few days ago by train.
Kendra had her camera with her. It was hanging around her neck. She would manifest in the dream world with whatever she was wearing when she fell asleep. Kendra was a photographer and figured if she was going out to see New York might as well do the touristy thing. By time the sun started to rise she had found her way to a beach. She found herself wishing that she had fallen asleep in a sweater as the chill morning air gave her a shiver. Kendra brought the camera to her eye and snapped a few stills of the ocean waves crashing against the shore. She could feel the soft sand shifting beneath her bare feet. There wasn't a terribly large amount of people on the beach this early. None really except for one person that Kendra could see. Max. Kendra watched him curiously for a moment. He was carrying a pile of sticks. Kendra brought her camera back up and snapped a photo of a gull sitting on the pier with the rising sun in the background.
Kendra's long flowing locks blew around her face in the gentle breeze. She reached up and tucked her hair behind her ear as she held her camera and watched the boy plop all the materials down in a single spot. Was he.... He was building a sand castle? Kendra smiled and laughed, doing her best to not laugh to loud. She didn't want to freak him out by some disembodied laughter over his shoulder. She watched him as he compacted the sand and added this little touch or that. She was in awe. Suddenly she felt the urge to help. She started patting down sand on the other side as he worked. She didn't want him to know she was helping, but she was working in secret.
It felt like the first truly human thing she had done in awhile. She was a mutant, but she was also human. Mutants were still part of the human race in her opinion despite what some activists or protestors would tell you. And this.... Well, this was the first time she had done something that had simply felt fun in awhile. It was about noonish before the work was completed. The sun was high in the sky now and there was a bit of a crowd that watched for awhile before slowly loosing interest and wandering away. Kendra hadn't fallen asleep until very late last night. Almost four in the morning in fact. She'd be sleeping in for awhile. She decided that she would hang out for awhile.
Kendra watched as he sat in the archway enjoying the day. He seemed to not have a care in the world. She wished she was so innocent. So totally free of self doubt and constant neurotic overthinking. Must be freeing. Kendra was inside the castle. She was sitting on the sand beside the spiral staircase. She could still hear the sound of the ocean waves crashing on the shore from inside. It was truly peaceful. Then, out of no where Kendra sneezed! The sound of her sneeze could be heard just behind Max, who was unaware that she was even there. Great going girl! Kendra lectured herself inside her head. She froze for a moment watching Max. She wasn't sure if he had even heard her. She hoped he didn't. She didn't know this boy, but it was fun hanging out on the beach with him building sandcastles. She didn't want to give up her stress free time on the beach because of a single sneeze.

Max sat chewing, enjoying the crashing of the tide and the sun in the sky. He was starting something new, his life was taking a different direction and he was ready for it. He was about to take a bite of a chip when he heard someone sneeze directly behind him.
"Bless you." He replied instinctively.
When he looked however he saw no one behind him. He frowned. The castle was too small to hide in, and he was sure the sound had come from directly behind him.
Max wasn't superstitious, or at least he didn't consider himself superstitious, but ever since he himself had come back from the dead he respected that perhaps he didn't know everything there was to know about the world around him.
"Hello?" He said quietly, extending a hand deepening into the castle.

Great you can't even have a day at the beach without acting like a spaz. Did you just sneeze on this guy? Eww. What's wrong with you? Ok... NO big deal.
"Bless you." Oh shit. He heard you. Great, now it's time to sneak out without him noticing. You know how the humans are about mutants. Out of sight out of mind. But they definitely don't want to be sitting on a beach building a sandcastle with you! Kendra was stuck inside her own neurosis. She was lecturing herself on how dumb she had been for thinking that she could just hang out with a human. Most of her experience with humans interacting with mutants that she had seen had turned violent. And she supposed it was fair to say that she had see more hatred and senseless cruelty than kindness. Kendra was just going to sneak out and leave this guy to his solitude when he spoke again.
"Hello?" Kendra waited. She was actually midway through her escape when he spoke again causing her to freeze. He was reaching hand out behind him where she was moments before. She was standing with him in the archway now. In his other hand, was a wide open bag of chips. Kendra's shoulders slumped. She was mad at herself that she had to go but she didn't want to be awkward. She was socially awkward enough, let alone trying to talk to someone while invisible. Rather than embarrass herself she decided to leave. Kendra reached into the bag of chips. She was careful not to touch the bag and move it in his hand or crinkle it in any way.
Stepping outside the castle she looked over her shoulder and saw Max still searching for some invisible person inside his fortress. Kendra smiled. He really was kind of adorable. She would have loved to hang out with him a little more. Crouching down in the sand she took her finger and wrote. "Cool castle dude. - Kendra" With her finger and popped the potato chip in her mouth. Standing up she allowed her jaws to crunch down the chip causing the audible sound of chewing, as quiet as it may have been it was still audible. Kendra walked down the beach in a straight line.
She walked down to the water directly in front of Max's castle. She was still eating her stolen potato chip as she trudged along. Well that was fun while it lasted. Kendra thought as she stepped up to the shallow clear water. She could feel the waves cold touch on her soft skin. Her hair flowing around her shoulders and look of disappointment on her face. She could see her reflection in the water. She was enveloped in a light pink aura.
What Kendra didn't realize was that she had left a trail of bare foot footprints leading down to the water. What she didn't realize was that she could see her reflection, but so could anyone else who cared to look. They could see what she looked like clear as if they were standing in the same room with her. "I am such a spaz." Kendra said to herself out loud. She was several feet from the castle now. She didn't think anyone could really hear her over the sound of the ocean and the sound the wind made blowing threw the sand. Kendra breathed deep and couldn't help but smile a little. The ocean air was nice.... She wasn't ready to leave the beach yet, even if her sandcastle adventure might have come to an abrupt end.

He found....nothing. it was no real surprise. Max let out a small laugh. He was becoming paranoid. He had come here to relax not suffer a breakdown. It was too nice a day for that. He had a new apartment to enjoy, and if the reps at Haven were correct he would have some event work he could help with. Now was a time to be happy. He started to sit down when he heard a crunching noise off to the side.
He looked down and saw the words scribbled into the sand. Kendra? Who was Kendra? He knew that the words hadn't been there a moment ago. He was about to start worrying again when he noticed the footprints. There had been decent traffic across the beach a bit ago but it was mostly empty now. These footprints went to the water and stopped, not returning or heading down the beach eother way.
"Ghosts don't leave footprints, but mutants do." He said quietly to himself.
He picked up his pale and began walking towards the ocean, whistling as he did. When he reached the water he was shocked to see the image of a girl in her pajamas standing in the water reflecting back at him. She seemed lost in thought and unaware that Max could see her.
He dropped to his knees and filled up the pail in the water that reflected the girls image. He kept his eyes locked on the reflection, gauging the distance, and tossed the contents of the pail at where the girl should be. He might be going crazy, or he might just be onto something.

Kendra wasn't really paying attention. Her mind was off in other places. She was thinking about going for a swim. It was warming up a lot. The mid afternoon sun was warmer now. The bright beaming rays kissed her skin and made her glow, even despite her pink aura. Kendra dipped a toe in the water. It was cold. Ice cold. She shuddered a bit as she looked out over the water.
Just because she was a dream right now didn't mean she couldn't feel. She could feel. She could be hurt too. If she cut herself in her dreams she would wake up with a scar. She had to remind herself to be careful. Just because she was invisible to everyone didn't mean that things couldn't happen to her. But she wasn't thinking about that now. She was standing there as Max made his way over. He was whistling. Completely blissfully unaware that she was even there. She looked at him curiously for a moment. She sort of envied him. Just living life, without a care in the world. Kendra saw something that would make a good photo and raised her camera to snap a few photos. When she lowered her camera she was splashed by the bucket of water.
"What the heck?!?!?" Kendra blurted out. Oops. Who the heck does this guy think he..... Wait. He can see me? No. He didn't know I was in the castle. Did he? "Who are you?" Kendra asked. He didn't mean to hurt her, at least she didn't think so. Otherwise he would have done worse than splash her with a little water, but he stood there and before he could react or even answer her questions Kendra snatched the bucket from his hand and scooped up a nice sample of sand and water from where the waves crashed the beach. It was a nice muddy consistency. Kendra took this bucket and dumped it on top of his head. That felt satisfying.
Kendra was still slightly annoyed, but mostly she was excited. Her heart was racing and after the initial shock wore off. She was exploding with questions. No one had ever seen her in her dream walking form. Was he a dream walker too? How can he see me? What does he want? Questions shot into her mind before she could even take a guess at an answer another question arose. Kendra stared at him all covered in sandy mud. She instantly felt bad about her kneejerk reaction. She reached over and wiped the muck from his face. She spoke again. This time it sounded less like an accusation and more like a genuine question. "You....you can see me?"

-"What the heck?"
The water made contact and Max saw the water droplets suspend in the air forming the rough outline of a person before dripping off. He had caught her alright, sure enough the girl in the reflection was truly standing there.
-"Who are you?" Max started to laugh only to feel the pail be ripped from his hand and SPLAT. He received a face full of sandy muck. He was startled for a moment before he felt a warm hand wipe the muck from his face.
-"You...you can see me?"
Max looked at where the girls form had been a moment before. Where his pail had been suspended in air a moment before. He looked back into the water and observed the glowing reflection of the girl. She was pretty, flowing hair and a look of sincere curiosity on her face. Max hadn't taken a moment to take her in when he thought he was imagining her, but now seeing her standing there in her pajamas which he had thrown water over he knew she was real. She was holding a camera, he hadn't noticed that before.
"I can't see you, I can see your reflection." He said, pointing at the water.
His brain started running a mile a minute as he spoke.
"So invisibility? That's amazing. How do keep your clothes and stuff invisible? You can take pictures while it's happening? You would think light would reflect in the lense. Can you make yourself visible." He rambled.
He shut up for a moment and picked up his pail, grinning as he looked from the reflection of the girl to where he knew she was.
"Kendra right? I'm Max. Sorry about the water thing but for a moment you had me thinking I was going crazy. We're you in my castle with me too?" He asked.

Kendra was a lot less angry now. Especially after he apologized. He was asking a million questions now. Even despite the fact that she covered him in muddy sand. Fair enough. She had a million questions herself. Kendra nodded when he asked if her name was Kendra. Kendra's mouth opened in surprise when he told her that he could only see her reflection. As if she were saying 'Ohhhhhh... She explained to him that she wasn't really invisible. That she wasn't even really here she was just a dream walking around. Though her power was weird. If she broke a bone in a dream she would wake up with an old scar and a healed wound like it happened years ago. It didn't make much sense to her herself but she explained how her power worked the best she could. She explained that She was sleeping in a mansion a few miles away from here. And that when she woke up she would simply disappear from the beach and be back in her bed. She had no idea why she was telling all this to a human but something about him made her feel like it was safe to tell him.
If he tried to hurt her she could always run away. He couldn't see her only her reflection. Kendra rubbed at her arm nervously. She hadn't really opened up to a non mutant like this about her ability before. It felt oddly cathartic in away. To not be afraid. She wasn't afraid really. She didn't know why she felt like she could trust him but she did.
"Yeah. Whatever I fall asleep with comes with me in my dreams. Clothes, camera.... I'd show you some of my pictures, but...." Kendra was standing on Max's right side. She could skip around almost like teleporting in her dreams. All she had to do was think of a spot and she would be there. She thought about herself standing on Max's left side and suddenly she was there behind him now to finish her sentence. ".... I don't think you can see invisible cameras." Kendra was enjoying talking to Max, but she knew that it would eventually have to come to an end. When Kendra woke up she would be back in her bed and she wouldn't be able to find Max.
The thought kind of made her frown for a moment. That's when Max spoke up again. "Kendra right? I'm Max. Sorry about the water thing but for a moment you had me thinking I was going crazy. We're you in my castle with me too?"
"I'm Kendra." She confirmed.
"Not only was I in your castle, I helped you build it I've been here all morning." Kendra said with a smile. She could still be seen to some degree. There were droplets of water still clinging wet to the skin of her face and neck. She was glad he couldn't see anything else. The water had splashed over the thin tank top she was wearing. There was nothing underneath. She didn't need her day at the beach turning into a wet t-shirt contest. The one time Kendra found herself thankful no one could see her.
Kendra crossed her arms. He seemed pretty interested in people with powers. Maybe he had never met a mutant before in person. Kendra didn't know that he had his own powers, that he could do things that would actually blow her mind. For the moment she still thought of him as a simple ordinary human.

Max nodded his head as she explained her power. It was unlike any mutation he has ever heard of but it sounded remarkable. For a moment he felt sorry for Kendra though, it would have to be pretty lonely falling asleep and basically being a spirit in the world. She could see everyone living and moving about but couldn't directly interact without freaking people out.
-"Yeah. Whatever I fall asleep with comes with me in my dreams. Clothes, camera.... I'd show you some of my pictures, but...."
- ".... I don't think you can see invisible cameras."
She popped into existence around him. Max could only keep up by listening to where her voice came from. Very cool. Something clicked as she spoke.
"You said you live in a mansion? You talking about the Xavier school?" He asked, "That place is nice. I actually lived there myself till a few days ago."
-"Not only was I in your castle, I helped you build it I've been here all morning"
Max grinned. He saw the ripple in the air where Kendra was standing ripple and checked her reflection. She was standing with her arms crossed and after a moment Max realized the reason and felt his face turn scarlet. What a day he was having.
"Right, we'll I got to say we made a pretty good team. Real piece of art over there " He smiled pointing at the castle.
He looked up and down the beach to ensure they were not attracting any attention and took a step towards Kendra.
"You know, I'm like you." He said, "Give me your hand and I'll show you something cool."
He extended his hand and pulled his power into it. He waited for Kendra to take his hand. When she did he would spread his power out and negate gravity around her. She would find herself floating in zero gravity. He didn't know if that was normal in her dreamwalking but he figured it was the easiest way to show her what he could do.

He's..... Like me? Kendra thought. Her heart was fluttering now. Her skin was hot and flush. Suddenly her mouth became dry and she could hear her pulse echoing in her eardrums. Max extended his hand. Slowly she reached out her hand to take his. She placed her hand in his. His hand was warm. Kendra allowed her fingers to slide through his lacing together. "I'm scared." She said quietly.
For a moment when he said he was like her; Kendra thought he meant that he was also a dream walker. Maybe not exactly the same, but maybe something similar. When she held something in her hand and woke up from a dream, she brought it back with her. Was he going to do something like that? Was he going to bring her back to his body? She still had some many questions. Only she didn't ask them. She just trusted him and took his hand.
Kendra swallowed hard. Her toes curled in the sand and she closed her eyes. She could hear the surf on the shore. She could hear the gulls squawking on the beach. The sound of the wind swirling around her. Kendra took a deep breathe. She had no clue what was going to happen. She was ready.
Kendra wanted to ask why he wasn't living in the mansion anymore. It would have been nice to have made a friend that she could actually see more than this one single time. Kendra was still waiting for something to happen. He couldn't see her except for her reflection, but she peeked. She opened one eye to take a peek at what was happening. She was nervous about what came next. She didn't understand how her powers worked fully, but maybe if he was like her like he said he could teach her how to control her power. Maybe he could .... Just then something started happening. Kendra gasped. What started to happen next was incredible.

Max felt Kendra's hand slide into his own. He could feel her pulse through their linked fingers. Suddenly he found himself feeling embarrased and nervous. Kendra seemed so interesting, she literally had the power to walk through different realms of reality. Max made crap float, somehow it didn't seem like it could compare.
As he held her hand he sent his power out over himself. Max extended a field of augmented gravity over Kendra. He felt his power slide over her and encase her like a layer of plastic wrap. He gave a quick look up and down the beach and saw no one. He allowed himself to float up, taking Kendra with him. He brought them a few inches over the surface of the water and shifted the gravity around them ever so slightly.
They floated out farther over the water. Max keeping them at level with the waves to they splashed his feet. Kendra would be safe, and of anyone took notice Max would just take off and fly away with her to safety.
"I can mess with gravity. Change the pull and push of it or negate it all together. Anything I touch can be effected too. What do you think?" He asked nervously.

First there was a feeling spreading around her. There was a slight weightless feeling and then she was lifting off the ground. Kendra's eyes lit up. Her voice hitched in her throat and her voice cracked with excitement. "I'm flying!" She was completely amazed by it. Her power was never something that she considered amazing by any means. It was mostly just lonely. During the day she spent most of her time being ignored and blending into the background. Most people didn't really notice her. Her power just felt like an extension of that. Just one more way for her to feel isolated. Max could fly. Who wouldn't want to fly?!?!?
Kendra wasn't worried about being seen. She couldn't be seen. Anyone who noticed though, would see Max flying over the ocean. "This is amazing." Kendra said. It was more blurted out in a fit of laughter. Kendra felt her hair flying in the wind and the spray of the ocean on her toes. Her hand squeezed Max's tighter. She would have loved to get some pictures from this high but the thought never even crossed her mind. She was so utterly lost in the moment. She could only imagine what it was like. To be able to fly around at will. She always felt somewhat trapped. Growing up in an abusive home, a single father who blamed her for her mother's death. She would have loved to be able to just open her window and fly away. The best she could do was dream herself away, but she was still there. She was still in that house.
"Take me somewhere!" Kendra said still laughing. She didn't care where they went. She just didn't want to touch back down on the ground yet. She felt free, she felt safe.
Suddenly the sandcastle didn't seem so impressive. He wasn't just a normal human. He was a mutant like her. Max had an amazing power. She didn't know much about gravity or it's effects, but she was impressed. Though she was saddened. It was already well past noon. She knew her time was going to be short. She couldn't stay asleep forever. For the first time in awhile she didn't feel alone. She had met a few in the mansion that she liked. Ghost was really nice, and she had talked to a few other mutants. But she hadn't made a friend. Max, was her first real friend she had made since she came here, since she left her drunk abusive father behind. He was her first friend and her time with him was ticking away like Cinderella's time at the ball. Eventually this amazing dream was going to turn into a pumpkin and she'd wake up.
Reality would come crashing back down on her head and she'd wake up alone in her bed. She was determined to enjoy the time she had. Kendra saw in the distance a boat on the water. She didn't want Max to get spotted. "Max! Look out for the boat." She didn't know if he was open about his powers to the world, but why would he hide them? They were fantastic. She had already decided. That tomorrow night, when she went to sleep she would come back to this beach at the same time looking for Max again.

When he heard her laugh he knew he was in trouble. His stomach did a little flip and he felt his face redden. Kendra had seemed surprised by his power but once her feet left the ground Max could tell even without seeing her that she was having a blast. As they floated around he looked at the choppy water and caught a glimpse of the girls reflection as they flew. She was smiling.
This was exactly what Max wanted to be able to do. His gifts should be used to make people happy, to bring them joy. One day he was going to become famous. A performer known around the world, and when he did he would expose himself as a mutant and show everyone that his kind deserved respect.
-"take me somewhere "
He heard her request and grinned.
"Sorry but I have a time limit. I get three minutes of continous use before I have to set back down." He explained.
She told him about the boat and Max whipped his head around to see. Sure enough the vessel was on the horizon. Max couldn't see anyone on the deck and they were far enough away he wasn't too worried but he decided it be best to return to shore.
Helena reverse his pull of gravity and they floated back towards the sand castle. As they approached he saw three people standing on the shore nearby. His heart sank.
He reached the beach and lowered himself to the ground as he heard the sound of a camera. Of the three men standing before him one stood in the middle with his phone out pointed at Max.
"Hey freak, what do you think your doing?" He asked with a sneer.
"You got some balls to show your face in public." The one to his left jabbed.
They were all wearing board shorts and wife beaters like some kind of Jersey Shore rejects. They reminded Max of his hometown. He'd met a million jocks just like these guys, and for most of his life was pushed around by them.
Something primal rose up in Max. He felt a surge of anger unlike anything he had felt before. He could hear his heart pounding in his ears. He wasn't Max Rosewood, the choir nerd mutant that got shoved in lockers cause he was too afraid of getting in trouble for using his gift. He was Max Rosewood, Member of Haven. He was going to change the world and no bigoted frat boys could hurt him.
"Do yourself a favor. Delete the photo and walk away." He said. His voice was low and calm, scary calm.
He looked into the water for Kendra.
"Just stay behind me." He whispered.
"Oh big man talking." The leader said, " I don't think so. How about I show this to everyone so they can see the freak for what he is."

Max charged. Kendra was horrified. The whole thing played out almost in slow motion she felt sick to her stomach. Why? Why are people like this? Kendra felt her skin get hot with anger. She saw this play out before. It always ended badly. Kendra didn't listen to Max. She didn't stand back and watch. She charged too only she couldn't be seen. Kendra ran past Max and at the three guys. She wasn't a fighter. She had never been in a fight in her life. Her teeth were showing. Her lip was curled up in a snarl.
Kendra snatched the phone out of the man's hand and chucked it in the ocean. She couldn't stand bullies. It was bullies that caused her to shrink away from the world her whole life. Bullies like her father. The phone splashed in the ocean. The picture would never see the light of day. "What the hell?" The guy cried. Kendra pulled his shirt up and over his head so that he couldn't see. His friends didn't know what to do.... Kendra shoved him down in the sand.....

As Max ran he saw the man take a step back in surprise. His phone was ripped out of his hand and Max grinned as he saw it fly out towards the water. The Jerk's shirt went over his head and Max laughed.
Kendra was no damsel in distress that was for sure. In her dreamwalking state she could move fast as thought of she had explained it to Max right, and it had let her get the guy before Max could clear the distance.
The lead douche tried to sit up and stared at Max in shock. Without being able to see Kendra they only had Max to blame for what had just happened. Which was fine with him. He had a guardian angel on his side, he could fight without worry about someone having his back.
The downside was he couldn't see her, so he needed to be careful where he struck. She had just shoved the leader so he assumed she was in front of him, so instead of heading straight for him Max lowered gravity on himself and vaulted over the guy.
He landed between the two lackies and reasserted gravity on himself. His hand smacked into the sand and he swept his legs up into a spinning split kick that knocked both men the the stomach and threw them back. Max had a dancers flexibility and agility and he knew how to use it.
He sprang to his feet as the pair recovered and grinned.
