The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

In her dreams thankfully, Kendra had the ability to teleport. All she had to do was think of a fixed location and she could move there in the blink of an eye. Kendra called this.... Blinking, in fact. Kendra blinked herself over to other side of the room. She wanted to be out of the line of fire. She wanted to not be in front of the scary Leon. Leon was terrifying when he was screaming at you. She almost screamed herself in fear. Though her first instinct was to blink across the room. It wasn't eve something she tried to do, her bodies' flight or fight response just kicked in all on it's own.
Kendra blinked herself on the other side of the room over by the close. She did this silently and didn't even leave so much as a swoosh of air behind. She watched as the bed slowly shift and settled back into it's natural place. She couldn't see the impressions on the carpet from where she was, but she figured it was the stupid bed that had given her away.
Kendra's breath was hitched in her throat. She dared not to make a sound. This was probably a stupid idea. She thought maybe she'd learn something fun or interesting, like maybe he was a gamer on his free time, or he had a weird obsession with Justin Bieber. Something. All she was doing was making him angry though, paranoid. Haven't I done enough of that today? She thought allowing her shoulders to slump a little.
Kendra didn't speak. Even though she was invisible if she spoke she would be heard as clearly as if she were there. She didn't want him to know she wasn't still by the bed. She back up a bit. Staying light on her feet and careful not to make another sound. Kendra's hand slipped into her pocket. Her slender fingers wrapped around the familiar shape of her cell phone. She waited.
Kendra wasn't sure or not if she was going to need to leave in a hurry. The thought of Leon ramapaging over her limp body was a little unsettling. He seemed like he could easily loose his temper. It may not have been the case, but he came off as someone who could easily snap and go postal on you. Kendra wasn't sure it was worth the risk just to find out what kind of music the guy liked of if he secretly watched the bachelor. She gripped her phone in her pocket. Kendra's finger was hovering over the '1' button. It was the speed dial to her room. She was ready just in case things turned bad as she waited to see if he calmed down.

Leon waited, his hair standing on end as he watched for reaction. Nothing, Was he talking to himself? He moved over, and carefully reached out to where the person he thought was there was. Nothing but air. He felt over the depressions, just empty space. He felt stupid. He was jumping at shadows and seeing things that weren't there. He didn't know what caused the sound, and he must have at some point touched the bed to make the handprint. He let out a tense, almost forced laugh. It wasn't a happy laugh, more a piteous sound as he marveled over how easily he snapped. The outburst left him feeling drained well, not physically, but emotionally. He sat by the bed, still feeling the spike of adrenaline and the heavy sensation in his chest and pit of his stomach. He felt overwhelmed, he didn't know if this was going to work. Yes the mansion was safer for him, but everyone else was in more danger from him.
He covered his face with his paws, putting pressure against his temples as a knot formed in his throat. The laugh died off into a sad choke. His vision blurred as tears escaped the corner of his eyes. He quickly covered them as he sniffed, trying to keep himself from breaking down. He hated himself, he hated being a monster. He hated the poisonous spine on his back, the constant fear of hurting everyone around him. And it was only a matter of time before it happened.
Kendra watched as he moved over quietly and began to sob. Gee. She thought. Her heart really went out the guy. She didn't know the personal struggle that he was going through. She didn't know the tremendous weight that was on the guy's big spikey shoulders, but she felt bad for him. He looked like he had it rough. She never really thought about how lucky she was before. Yeah she had a mutation, but it never put a damper on her personal life. Not that she really had one. She didn't have a visible mutation. For most of her life she was really able to quietly fade into the background and go unnoticed. She didn't have the constant reminder that she was different staring her in the mirror.
Kendra teleported out of his room and stood outside in the hall. She was standing outside his door and she could still here the massive heaving sobs that were emenating from the room inside. Kendra's face scrunched into a frown. She wanted to do something. Anything she could do to help him feel a little better was at least a start. Kendra started to walk down the hall slowly. As she did she pulled out her phone and with a heavy sigh she called herself.
The phone in her room rang and she woke up in her bed. Swinging her feet out of bed she placed them on the floor. Moving quickly she slipped down stairs and found the kitchen. She looked for something good. She saw that he liked junk food. She had seen the discarded wrappers. Poor guy. She thought as she pulled some food from the cupboards.
Taking the snacks back upstairs she moved quickly and quietly to Leon's room. This isn't going to make him feel better. He's probably going to yell at me for bothering him. She thought. Oh well, he's just going to have to live with me bothering him one last time. She moved over to his door and took a deep breath. She could still hear how upset he was through the thin door. Preparing herself for the worst. Kendra knocked on the door waiting for it to open. As she waited she prepped what she was going to say in her head. Oh I was just in the neighborhood with a big handful of snacks thought you might be hungry? That's stupid. Hey big guy! missed you at dinner thought you could use a bite? No he's likely to literally bite my head off for that. Kendra couldn't make up her mind but when the door did swing open she was standing there in the flesh. Plainly visible for the whole world to see. She had a genuinely concerned smile on her face, albeit a nervous one. She said the first thing that popped into her pretty little head. "Peace offering?"

Leon took a few deep breaths to settle himself. In a few moments, he managed to get a hold of it, quelling the sobs as he pushed the pain down with all his other issues. It was the only thing he could really do with it. He had no outlets, anything he had liked to do was impossible for him now, and he had failed at every turn to find a new one. He knew it wasn't doing any good for him. If this was any indication, he was going crazy. Had anyone actually knocked, or was he hearing things too? Was he starting to hallucinate? It would be just his luck if he was becoming a schizophrenic in addition to everything else, it was the way his life seemed to be going. As such, he doubted his senses when yet another knock came from the door.
No... no, no, it's just your imagination, he told himself, covering his ears and closing his eyes, trying to force himself into sanity. However with everything else blocked out, his sense of smell compensated, and this time he definitely smelled something. It was familiar, though he hadn't really paid attention to it before, but it was a definite odor he had experienced before, which told him at least there was someone there. The girl he had run into before.
What was she doing here? He thought he had warned her to stay away, and now she was showing up when he was at his most vulnerable. His emotions were overtaxed as it was, he didn't have the energy to get himself worked up again. He thought about just ignoring the knocking and pretending he wasn't home, except if his last encounter was any indication she'd likely just keep knocking. He got up glumly and walked over to the mirror to make sure he didn't look like he was crying. He didn't want a bleeding heart following him around out of pity. Then he walked to the door, and opened it just a crack, making sure there wasn't enough room for any possibly invisible people to get through, if only for his own piece of mind.
"Peace offering?"
Leon almost shut the door on her. Probably should have, but after the outburst from earlier he was hungry, if nothing else then for some comfort food, and she had a good handful of snack bars, presumably from the kitchen. He grumbled a bit, weighing his options. No doubt by peace offering, she meant 'let me in so I can try and fix your problems with words', and he wondered if that was worth the handful of snacks she was offering. "If I answer your questions, will you stop following me?" he asked bluntly. He figured that was what she wanted, as it was what everyone in this place seemed to be interested in, sticking their noses into his business and endangering their own lives. He gave a defeated sigh, "Come in, sit on the bed, and don't wander," he said. It was probably the safest place in the entire room since he never slept on it, he had combed through the carpet enough times to be relatively sure there weren't any spines there, but he didn't want her walking about in case she found the one he was bound to miss given his rotten string of luck.
Kendra didn't want to give him anymore grief. She was honestly trying to make up for all of her constant persistent pestering. She was honestly making a honest to god peace offering. No strings attached, she just wanted to do something nice for the guy, he seemed to be having a rough go of it. She couldn't even imagine that. Everywhere you go everyone KNOWS you're a mutant. There was no hiding it when you looked like Leon. Kendra lived her whole life in hiding. She was terrified of being discovered as a mutant.
Although, up until a recently she was living in Georgia. The south breeds ignorance and prejudice. Kendra had told her girlfriend Libby that she was a mutant and Libby dumped her and cast her out of her life. Libby herself was a mutant, but Kendra never found that out. Libby was a self loathing mutant who shut Kendra out instead of opening up to her. Kendra's father found out she was a mutant and disowned her. Kendra knew the value of hiding, even if it was hiding in plain sight.
Kendra couldn't imagine how Leon did it. The strength it must've taken just to go through the motions of day to day and try to find a way to make life work for you. It must've been exhausting. Kendra was honest and sweet. A bit to nosey for her own good, but she never had any ill intent. She didn't want to make this guy's life any harder than it already was. She was snooping to see if there was any way that she could connect with him, to reach out and befriend him. He seemed very adamant about pushing everyone away though. No pictures of friends or family. Now posters of bands or movies. Kendra didn't even have a gestimation on how old Leon was. How long he had been living this life of loneliness. She knew a thing or two about loneliness.
Kendra spent her days feeling invisible to mostly everyone most the time, and at night; when she slept. She became invisible and she had no choice in the matter. She just was forced to dream walk as the invisible girl. She couldn't interact with anyone without freaking them out. Kendra had met one who was ok with her being invisible and that was a friendship that quickly blossomed into something more. Kendra knew the value of friendship when you had very little companionship to keep you rocking away from the lonely tide.
Kendra looked at Leon with her best 'I'm truly sorry.' face. Her eyebrows scrunched and her pouty lips curled back to appear more pouty and sorry It was a natural look. It was in fact genuine remorse for causing him so much stress. "No, that's ok." Kendra said as she set the snacks down on the floor by his door. "I don't wanna bother you, I just wanted to say I'm sorry." She wasn't trying to trick him or make him feel guilty. She just thought it was the right thing to do as she stood back up she turned to leave.

Leon was slightly taken aback by the sudden disinterest considering how persistant she had been earlier. He honestly didn't know how he was supposed to respond to it, leaving him with a confused expression on his face. But with the day he had been having, he wasn't about to look a gift horse in the mouth, opening the door and scooping up the snacks. "Um... thanks?" he said questioningly, still confused at the change of heart. Even so, he felt that there was something missing here. He wasn't good at social interactions, but something was nagging at the back of his mind, and he felt a familiar feeling of guilt. "Sorry... I yelled at you," he said finally figuring out he needed to apologize as well. "But it's still dangerous to be around me," he added, less forceful this time. Even if he was sorry, he knew that facts were fact, and he couldn't change the inescapable fact that anyone lingering around him was put at risk.
