The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

“Ah that’s wonderful,” Tempest gave a nod at her mention of playing the cello. He ignored the eye roll and the groaning sigh. He knew she was annoyed; she was a teenager and it was almost a given. He on the other hand kept smiling gently.
“Do you own one? Do you play professionally for an orchestra or do you still need more practice, maybe even some professional training?” he queried. “I could introduce you to some people with a career in music if that’s where your interest lye. And no, being a mutant won’t be a problem.”
Raising his hands, Devon started typing, making a few notes. “Is there anything else you might be better at and enjoy than attempting to rob a store for no reason?” he asked, leaning his head out from behind the monitor. Despite the directness of the words he kept his tone light.
He was serious after all. Was this girl simply bored and restless? Was this merely a cry for attention or did she just not have a direction for her energy? If she actually wanted to play the cello then maybe at least he could give her a little direction before she flew off.
<I play by myself,> Astrid snapped. She was a solo act. She always had been, and she always would be. That was her thing. She didn't play well with people, whether it was with music or not, and the last thing she needed was some old guy finding her random strangers to play with. What was she, some kind of show pony? <And yes, I own one. I'm not that needy.>
She silently wondered if any of her French insults would translate well, but didn't bother to find out. She could insult him in her head and keep from getting in trouble.
>>“Is there anything else you might be better at and enjoy than attempting to rob a store for no reason?”
She rolled her eyes again. There really wasn't anything else that could be expected at that point. Of course she liked other things! She liked... murder...? She liked Ragnarok. And Isabel Duskmoor. October was alright. None of those were suitable answers, though.
<I like yoga?> she shrugged. She didn't really like it, but she was relatively good at it, and it seemed like another safe answer.
Astrid snapped out at his suggestion to play with an orchestra. That was telling. He merely nodded slowly at it. And she already owned her own cello. It was seeming more and more this girl wasn’t needy, wasn’t desperate. She was getting put up to it or she enjoyed it as her personality suggested. A hardened, angry mutant teenager was a dangerous thing. No wonder Nate had thought she might benefit from talking to someone.
“Glad you’ve got one,” Devon said gently but she was too busy rolling her eyes.
She struggled for another interest and even phrased it as a question. Yoga huh? “Okay, thank you Astrid,” he nodded. “Well if you ever find interest in doing something professionally with that cello of yours, let me know, whether in an orchestra or solo,” he smiled, standing. “Since you prefer that.”
He went to the door and opened it, beckoning to the officer who returned quickly.
“All set?” he asked.
“Astrid’s angry and she’s bored,” Devon left it at that, his phone still translating. “I think she is probably more annoyed at getting caught than anything else, wouldn’t you be? I wasn’t the happiest teenager either,” he nodded.
“Heh, who was?” the cop asked, moving to the chair. “Alright, let’s talk a minute outside and you can go,” he said to her, still gruffly but at least he’d calmed down.
“Yes,” Devon nodded. “I’ll keep my notes. Astrid, options are open and you’re free to come by or give me a call any time.” He offered his number aloud and smiled again as she was uncuffed and started out the door.
His eyes pooled with solid inky darkness while the cop walked beside her. He was too busy looking to Lisa and those golden doors out of the place. Devon was focusing on the air around them, monitoring and noticing, but he had a point to make too as he made eye contact with Astrid once more. “Should you have any interest to do so, anyway,” he smiled, gave a quick wave, and shut the door.
Then Devon went to his computer to takes his notes and look up more on the black-eyed winged girl.
