The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

The arrival of food prompted Artairs stomach to growl audibly, the smell of home helping to calm his nerves a bit. "Yeah I think it's just what the doctor ordered," he joked. He quickly gulped down a sausage and some bacon while Serena spoke, taking in what she was saying. Artair did have to agree that is was a bit odd that he'd not meet another mutant on campus, but he'd honestly been more concerned with getting himself grounded, not just in a new city but a new country.
"I think its more that I've not been paying much attention, to be honest," he replied easily, "I've just been focusing on work while on campus, and most of my free time has been taken up with new friends." At least she'd managed to allay some of his fears about the general mood around the university regarding mutants. It was a topic he'd been scared to bring up given the bad reputation mutants had been getting in the news. "It's good to hear though, about there being a decent view of us here. I love my home but Kirkwall's pretty rural and," he trailed off, leaving the implication hanging in the air.
The way she'd offered help made it seem like she already had dealt with mutant issues in the past. That'd be good to remember. "Thanks for the offer, it does mean a lot to me and if I have more issues with the professor I'll remember to pass it on." Well, this meeting had already proved to be very useful. Having a sudden light bulb moment he also thought to ask, "Oh while on the subject is there any decent organisations I should look out for, in case you're not available?"
Between chunks of conversation, Serena attacked bits of bagel and grabbed a bottle of water from the bar, sipping it. She shouldn't over do it on the coffee any more than she already had done. She nodded in understanding. She'd done a lot of that not noticing things that she probably should have from sheer concentration on other things, she'd done plenty of that.
Kirkwall sounded like a pretty behind the times place. Though mind you, the video game version had it's fair share of turmoil anyway. But the comparison was probably a little silly to make anyway.
She nodded firmly. "It's no problem at all, I've spent most of my Adolescent and adult life dealing with and hanging around other mutants, the community is fairly good at coming together and covering each other's backs, in general anyway." She smiled at him reassuringly and took another drink.
Hmmm. Other organisations. "Well, the obvious ones would be the university itself if the issues are here, if they are else where reaching out to the mansion isn't a bad idea, they have all kinds of helpful resources for that kind of thing. Oh, and if it's serious enough there are the X-men too. They're much better people than they look like on T.V" She smiled. Come to think of it... she knew almost the entire team on a first name basis.
A conversation with Devon also came to mind. She scrawled down his number. "A friend of mine is looking into also setting up more support for mutants in trouble, he's a really good guy. So if you'd rather speak with an individual he's a decent bet."

Between bites he nodded at her words, glad to have not offended her by accident. The last thing he wanted to do was upset Serena, especially since she'd offered him so much help. Knowing that there was a community and support network made Artair feel much more at home. He was also glad that the university was so proactive at protecting its students. He did however try to not let his expression betray his feelings about the X's. They had a pretty bad reputation and were too closely tied to the police and government than Artair liked.
A phone number was a good start. It always helped to have something physical, Artair thought and if Serena vouched for him that was good enough. She struck him as a good person, already offering more personal help to what was essentially a stranger. Artair didn't think he'd have been able to be so trusting yet this girl had, easily. "Thanks, I really mean it, you've offered a lot to me and I've not been the most polite person to chat too," he apologised, before continuing a bit more lightly "I promise, on the rare occasion I'm not hung over I can be positively delightful."
Pocketing the offered number, Artair quickly mopped up the last of his food and checked the time. Grimacing, he remembered he had lectures soon and his student reality crashed back into focus. "Is there anything else specific we needed to talk about? I've got a lecture soon and I probably shouldn't be late." As much as he wished he could, he'd never been able to actively miss lessons or lectures. His brain would nag at him for hours if he did.
