The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"Well..." Bailey trailed off. He hadn't considered the fact that he could negate Aura's powers. But she could still throw things at him!
Or could she? He hadn't actually tested that, and he didn't know if that was even part of her power set. There was probably still some way that she could hurt him though! Girl was bonkers!
He bit his lip. If he tried to explain who Aura was, then he probably wouldn't do her justice. He needed the help of the internet and all its crazy conspiracy theorists. He pulled out his phone from his back pocket and made his way onto the Sanc wifi. Then, he dove deep into the dark corners of the internet and brought up one of the pages that he had initially read about the famous mutant. "Here." Bailey held out his phone for Istrid to read, displaying a page about how Aura had made furniture from bones, as well as details about her many escapades in the public eye.
Aura had been in her own world, her mind playing back various battles she had fought. The past seemed so beautiful and elegant and now, colored in the glass of the past. Things were so easy in a fight, all that matterd was blow and counter blow, seeking how to penetrate your opponents defense and bring them to the ground. She needed a good fight with another mutant soon, they were much more fun and interesting then the primates called humans were.
"I no longer build my furniture from the bones of humans. I have discovered a credit card while much less exciting is easier, less work and much more consistent quality." she said simply now looking right at Bailey and Istrid. She had no idea who any of them were but of course her reputation was well known and her criminal record made phone books look small.
She caught Tempests gaze later then she would have liked. It was hard keeping track of who was watching her. So many people and some of them even human, their would many would be hero's who likely had their eyes on a monster. She she watched him walk up and smiled with a soft nod of her head.
"I prefer Aura, thank you. Whatever name you prefer is the one you should use. The place has changed a lot since i last called it home." she said her eyes looking around the room again. She knew of Devon but had never really encountered him. She knew he was the new owner of sanctuary and that he seemed to not want the violent organization that has dwelled in it for so long. She could understand that, they had attracted a lot of trouble over the years.
"Don't worry Devon, i wont cause trouble. I left this place awhile back because my presence drew far to much attention. she assured him, her aura silverware melting back into the aura around her body like fluid. She decided it was best not to mention her dislike of human presence on sanctuaries grounds.
((OOC: Please note this conversation happens before Devon returns to Spasms's table.))
“You’re welcome, Aura it is then. Devon’s fine,” the wary mutant grinned. He reminded himself that while dangerous, she was also allegedly a friend to at least one X-Man. She was supposedly a friend to all mutants, simply her means were violent. How unfortunate it came to that, but what Devon had seen lately working at Sanctuary, he was starting to see where that path had started from…
>> "Don't worry Devon, i wont cause trouble. I left this place awhile back because my presence drew far to much attention."
“I appreciate that too,” Devon nodded. “Both your comment you don’t want to cause trouble here and why you left. Many here have nothing else and considering the number of mutant children, I think some are simply looking for a reason to target it. Today’s event is about being open, available, and to dispel notions of its history.”
“You mind if I sit a moment?” he asked, and provided Aura gave the affirmative, he sat. “I didn’t know much about Sanctuary before I started volunteering other than it was a place where mutants could find a place to stay. I wanted to build on that and the community it provides. I might be helping a few mutants here and there train with their abilities too... Control’s important after all, and that’s why we have some who even put them to use as a neighborhood watch.”
“But I’m droning on, sorry,” he grimaced. “I’ve met a few whom you know and thought it important to share my perspective on why we need Sanctuary.” He really hadn’t meant to, but he felt he had something to prove to the dangerous woman. She might be a killer with fabled stories of a dangerous bent, but in her mind she was doing what was right. Devon didn’t really know those she’d hurt and what they’d done, not that he condoned outright murder anyway. The natural order of things tended to fall behind the higher states of humanity’s understanding.
“What got you to come visit? Wanted to see how things were going here?”
She was not sure if Devon understood just how tough dispelling those notions of history might be. A lot of terrible things had happened in these walls. Aura also kept to herself the belief the place would be targeted simply because mutants dwelled here. Humans would need few other reasons to attack it. Though at least a direct attack was probably stupid.
She would nod her approval for him to sit, having hoped they could talk. It was strange looking into Sanctuary's Leaders eyes and knowing he was not the violent pro mutant it's former leaders were. No this was a much different Sanctuary leader and a different Sanctuary. In a way it was hard to recognize the spirit of the place she had called home for so long...and the humans.
Listening to him she was unsure where to start her reply. He seemed a better man then the snowman but she also knew less about this guy. "I don't know what you have read or seen about me. Once my powers emerged i was used as a weapon, a solider, once the humans killed all my friends and left me for dead i wandered out of the forest. I had no idea humans and mutants were not in all out war with each other. Sanctuary took me in, gave me a place to stay. It was the nicest place i had ever lived to that point. ' she said taking a sip of the wine before she continued. "Mutants need all the safe havens they can find. Your method might be better then mine, i do not know. I can only hope they are safer with you and never need to have the blood on their hands that are on mine. " she said looking at her palms with a glance. Her aura may have kept her clean most times but her mind knew what she had done over the years. It was a job someone had to do.
"The check is not in my name, terrorists are not aloud bank accounts you know, But Lisa can vouch for the money on it. Nothing is more important then our people future. Also....I know your legit with the law and all but if you even need me Lisa will always be able to contact me." she said sliding a white envelope to him. The check was for Seventy-five thousand but Aura felt her contact information was much more valuable. What he did with the check was up to him of course but she knew the money was safe.
“Thank you,” Devon said with a quick nod as he took the envelope from the table. “All contributions are appreciated as they’re donations, free of obligation.” He smiled, “Saves us any affiliation political or otherwise…” He nodded again. “And I’m sure Lisa can. She’s been extremely helpful.”
“And thanks for sharing with me,” he said warmly though hesitantly. He wasn’t about to apologize to her for her past; she struck him as someone who wouldn’t much appreciate the notion after such a hard life. “Suffice to say the media paints you in one way and one way only, but I understand there’s always more than one side of a coin. Three total actually, people forget that too.”
“I’m glad Sanctuary gave you somewhere to feel at home, and be safe. I want to see that continue for those in need. It’s a good place for those with nothing, those who need a community, and even a temporary place for those with murkier pasts,” Devon explained. There was a brightness in his blue eyes and a lift in his tone as he continued, “I think everyone deserves a home, even if it’s not here. I hope to see such a place for all in the future, and I don’t mean simply Utopia.”
Tempest had ideas, had a plan, and he hoped it would continue to develop.
“I’ll be sure to call, check in,” Devon added simply, his brow lifting and tone softening again.
