The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Her reaction was everything Elliott had hoped it would be.
"Yes," Elliott bobbed his head once. "We are going to be making the people die."
There was, of course, the peremptory teaching of how to utilize the explosives. That would be easy. It was entirely unnecessary to train the winged girl in how to prepare the explosives, how to set up a detonator, and any of that other fun stuff. If she wished to learn how to make her own explosives, that was great and they could do that, but it'd take time. There was plenty of time to be learning how to do that. It also wouldn't hurt if HE learned some more things about explosives. C4 was fun and great, but there were so many other types of explosives one could learn to make, and even thinking about the possibilities in his mind probably had placed him on a terrorist watch list somewhere. If not that, the resulting internet searches would likely do so. Which is why he would be doing none of that.
"Later, I can teach you how to make the bombs. If you want. Fun stuff. Messier stuff. But for now, I can set you up with some explosives and ready the timers and detonators. And I can give you some addresses and set you loose, if you're cool with that." He smiled. It was a very sinister, very 'ready to make the people die and incite all the chaos with this' type of smile. It might have been a huge assumption that she would be ALL for the learning and the blowing stuff up, so he was going to work with her rather than boss her around. As long as she was sensible enough not to get herself caught or killed, she would be far more destructive left to her own devices. And really, what was a chaos faction for if not to give bombs to children?

Astrid was on cloud nine. If that moment had been a movie, it would have been a montage of clips of her staring dreamily at the camera, followed by explosions. Lots of explosions.
She nodded eagerly at the idea of learning to make her own explosives. That would mean she could have explosives whenever and wherever she wanted. Which, of course, would be always. And besides, then no one would ever be able to say that she didn't know anything useful again. Her head would be filled with the intricate art of bomb making. What teenage girl didn't want that?
Sure, it would probably be a long and boring process, but the end payout would be amazing. Not like some of the other offers she had been given, where the end result was, at best, a dubious promise of greatness and fame. In this case, she would get to BLOW STUFF THE @#%& UP.
Valkyrie squealed in excitement and spun on her heels, clutching the bundle of C4 to her chest. They were going to cause so much chaos.
Her hand reached out to grab Elliott's, wanting to get out of the building as quickly as possible in order to get on their way. "Come on, we are going to be going!"
Elliott grinned a lopsided grin at Val, and nodded once, dancing a little on the spot with her as she clutched his hand. Maybe, just maybe, her mad excitement at causing trouble was contagious. He wanted to get them out of that building and on to business as soon as possible.
"Yeah." Elliott said, with enthusiasm. "I'll gather up what we need real quick. Only be a moment." There was a duffel bag in the closet, for gathering up resources. He packed it rapidly, scooping up the explosives, and everything else they needed. There was a little book of places he had highlighted as options for where to set things up. It was smaller than a phone book, if barely, and it did not have yellow pages. Usually, such a notebook would be incriminating, but with what was already in that place, he figured if he was in for a penny, he was in for a pound. He'd get imprisoned for all the explosives long before he was arrested for a notebook detailing addresses of intended targets. Even if said notebook was "in code".
One of the targets was a bus stop. That would be easy enough. He had a few of those enviro-bags, the reusable cloth shopping bags people bought from supermarkets in order to try and avoid using all the plastic disposable bags in the world. A bomb left in a bag that got "forgotten" by a bus stop wasn't likely to attract much attention. New Yorkers rarely chased someone down for lost property. The worst case scenario was someone stealing it. But then, hey! Where ever it went, there it was. And Chaos, with it. It might actually be better, for it.
Another location was a popular chocolate shop near Time's Square. It was more prominent and upscale. It'd attract people from all walks of life. Before any of the options he had on his list, however, he was going to see what she thought were good places to go kaboom.
They left the building together, and went streetside to wait for a passing cab they could flag down. As they waited, Elliott turned to Val. The duffel bag was a dark blue sports bag with a brand logo across the side, something that started with an A. A cold wind whipped by, chilling him. He looked at her thoughtfully. "Before we stop a cab, where do you think we should set one of these up at?"
He wanted her to be self-reliant. Part of that was training her mind.

Apparently her excitement had rubbed off on Elliott. Whatever reservations she had initially had about him were long gone, wiped away by their shared interests. Her mind flooded with ideas about what they were going to do, who they were going to kill, and what little was going to be left in their wake.
They walked down to the street to catch a taxi, Astrid holding a dark blue duffle bag with a sports logo on the side. Just before they’d left, she’d stuck some newspapers and rolls of toilet paper on top of what was very obviously a bomb, just in case.
She rocked on her heels swinging the duffle bag ever so slightly. She looked over Elliott’s arm, trying to see the list of places that he had mapped out for them to hit, but she couldn’t make anything out from his scribbles.
>>"Before we stop a cab, where do you think we should set one of these up at?"
Astrid’s face twisted thoughtfully. Where did she want to blow up first? Well, everywhere, but that wasn’t exactly realistic. She needed to come up with somewhere that would have a great deal of traffic and would cause panic. Somewhere that was used by people from all walks of life.
It came to her suddenly.
Her face brightened, and her bouncing became suddenly quicker. “A school,” Astrid grinned widely. She had always held a torch for her hatred of schools. She’d always wanted to attend one normally like everyone else could when she was younger, but her appearance and unwillingness to get along with the other kids made doing so difficult. She had eventually given up, and now found herself unable to do simple multiplication. So, naturally, she blamed schools.
His first thought when she had said school was the x-mansion, but that had tons of mutants and was far more high profile than anything else he could have imagined to start the girl out with.
"I have a couple written down on this list. We can do the nearest one." He quickly showed her his list, making sure she could see all his lovely chicken peck bad handwriting. You try writing with what basically amounts to three fingers. It's different. Pens aren't really made for people with two fingers and a thumb.
When they were ready, they flagged down a cab. From there, it was Valkyrie's party and she ran the show.
(( OOC - thread finished, with Astrid approval. Whatever Astrid blows up, is up to her. ))
