The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"No problem James" Linely said , trying to sound as kind as possible. The Doctors probably thought that he'd been roughed up by polic. Explaining to them that he was in fact a witness to his own assault was not easy given the prejudice and James' less than apt social skills due to his mutation.
Still he was looking better than he was, mostly stitched up and far less blood. At least he was able to talk and give a witness statement , but he wouldn't do that now. The man had been through enough already.
"We will be contacting you soon about the assualt, and we are prepared to pay about half your medical bill to help with the costs" It wasn't that much anyway. "Now I'll take you home when you're ready"
"T-thank you." James said, not sure whether to be grateful or a little surprised that the PD wasn't actually taking any witness statements from him, and was also offering to pay part of his medical bill. He smiled a little, wondering whether to accept the ride home. He wasn't very good at accepting help from others, and PD Linely had already but his predictions show that the roads aren't going to take too long, even with the repairs still going on from those attacks last month. The subway was going to take an hour and a bit of walking, but...
"I live in Queens. It's a bit far away- Nearly half an hour drive. And lots of the tunnels and bridges are still under repair. I think... I can manage on my own." James said, a little hesitantly. He smiled again. "The subway isn't too far away. There's only a few minor delays, I think I can take a train home."
"Very well James, glad to be of service" He had other things to do, there was a protest tomorrow that he had to be there for, and it looked like James could manage on his own. "Just make sure you don't go down any silly short-cuts during the night next time alright?, We'll be in touch soon" With that Linely walked away leaving James to the business of getting home .
He got into his police car, tonight had been a bizarre one, and he was glad not to have been caught up in that accident (which had been cleared thank goodness), he just hoped that the man got home OK. Things were not safe for a lone mutant who got confused easily. He started the engine, and drove away.
James stuck his hands into his pockets and kept his gaze focused on the floor. The police vehicle pulled away, and he felt slightly guilty about the blood he had left on the car. He wasn't sure what else to do. The nearest subway station wasn't far away, but the thought of walking in the darkness makes his hand go unconsciously to his jaw. Oh, well. He might've as well taken the ride, but he had refused, and here he was now. The trains don't have much delays, and it wouldn't take a ridiculous amount of time to get home. Isaac would be worried by now. They were approaching the very early hours of the morning already.
No more shortcuts tonight. James would like to get home mostly intact. Police officers like PD Linely were hard to come by. So he needed to watch his back.
