The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Unique indeed. If Memo had ever come across someone with a similar power, he'd managed to forget it, but he felt like that would be more than distinct enough a situation to carve a permanently visible memory into his skin. Blood manipulation was a first for him too. "I haven't actually met that wide a range of mutants, for all I live with a constantly changing group of them," he said, curiosity rising now that most of the confusion had moved away.
"Being able to control something must be nice," he continued. "And blood's got a lot of uses. Like today." No everyone forgot if they died. Rather few people did, in fact. Perhaps only one did. Who knew? It wasn't as if there was a master list of mutations in existence.
Names! A name he'd almost certainly soon forget, along with so many others, whether or not he intended to. "I'm Memo. It's originally from my middle name, but it stands so well on its own too. I have to have reminders for almost everything."
Serena couldn't imagine what it would be like to have a power like his, especially if her suspicions were correct and it had a negative effect on his memory. She prided herself on many things, and one of them was her ability to study things and retain the information, she couldn't imagine not being able to hold onto the things that she learned, sounded like a nightmare .
Serena nodded. She knew of Sanctuary, after all a long time ago one of her friends ran away and went to live there, she'd heard of the occasional shady thing here and there, but overall it seemed to be a relatively good place.
She chuckled lightly. "Well it hasn't always been the nicest thing, passive powers tend to not attract a lot of attention, mine on the other hand... Well, let's just say that it has a habit of freaking people out, somewhat understandibly." She admitted. "But I'm glad when I'm able to use it for something good, like helping you. Mind you, doesn't seem like you needed it in the end." She mused.
She gave an amused smile. Memo seemed quite a fitting name, she'd noted a habit of mutants not sticking with a normal name, she understood more in some cases though like with Memo, or Mirror for that matter. "Makes sense. Are you sure you're going to be alright now though?" She asked in a somewhat concerned tone.
"True; a lot of people who see me think I'm just really heavily tattooed, but all of these are memories." Memo held out an arm and pulled his sleeve up with a gloved hand to reveal the glossy black markings on his dark skin. "I feel like I've freaked people out before too, though. And I remember seeing parents move their kids across the street from me. Dunno if that's the mutant, the perceived tattoos, or the hat." Such a great hat-
HE WASN'T WEARING HIS HAT IT WAS IN HIS ROOM
"The hat I'm not actually wearing. It's a super awesome hat. Think wizard hat with a toothy face on it. It's great." He did love his hat.
He settled his sleeve back into place and scratched his head a bit. "I don't see why not. I'm okay at not remembering things as long as no one touches any of my markings. Including me. Hence the gloves." He wiggled his fingers. "Not sure how that one got triggered, though. It's, well, you saw where it is." He rubbed his clothed stomach. How did that happen? Eh, he couldn't remember.
Serena watched and listened intently, the man's power was truly one of the more unique ones that the blonde had come across, and she'd seen some weird powers. Like a teenager's body turning him into some kind of apex predator. Heck, her power was one of the weirdest ones she'd seen. Especially when you took into account that she could turn into some of some terrifying, nude blood elemental lady.
Serena giggled as the man realised he wasn't wearing a hat, he was very amusing. And actually kind of cute all things considered. It sounded like a cute hat too, Serena herself only had a couple of hats. She was a little crazy on the shoes and coats herself. And she now had the disposable income to fill this desire, much to her closet's dismay. "I'm sure. It sounds like a fun hat."
She nodded. That made relative sense. She had been hoping she hadn't made him uncomfortable with taking his shirt off like that, especially in public. Though it seemed like he'd either already forgotten about it, or was just thankful enough for her trying to save his life for him to not care.
Serena smiled at the man again, suppressing another giggle. "Yes, I did. But that's okay, you explained how your power works more or less. I'm Serena, and you're Memo." She responded softly.
It was the most fun hat ever, and she was a good person for recognizing that. "Totally super fun. There's a bell on it too. Not intended to remind me that I'm wearing it, but it totally does the trick. It's from my dad, back when I was a kid. The hat, not the bell. I got the hat with the bell." Probably. That was a detail about his hat he didn't actually remember. Mostly he remembered how it felt to wear it, how it squished down his hair and made it fluff around his face. Like it was doing right now! Because he was remembering it. Sometimes he remembered things that didn't hurt.
He patted his hair and smiled at her. What was her name? Er-
Oh, she was telling him again! Oh good. "Serena is a nice name. I have no idea if I've said that already, but it is." He offered her a thumbs up. "Were you headed anywhere? Talking to you is nice but I feel like bad things have happened for standing around talking on the sidewalk forever. Although maybe it was just getting yelled at a bunch. I'unno. If I have to be somewhere, my phone'll go off soon enough, so yeah."
She smiled as he went on about his hat. He was so very energetic, it was just frankly adorable. Some people were just like that she supposed. She glanced around again, thinking to herself that they should probably move on soon... Her shopping! She spun around and saw that her shopping bags were gone. She let out a sigh and smiled again. She'd have to buy that stuff again soon enough.
She nodded at him, amused. "Well thank you, that's nice of you to say." she didn't add in that Memo was a super cute name, especially in relation to him. She didn't want to embarass him, though with how odd he was he might have gotten even more excited about it. She certainly loved that about this city, the massive and mind blowing variety that she could find between people, Memo was one of the more unique ones she'd met.
She nodded. "That's a good idea, moving on and the whole setting phone alarms for things." She smiled. "That is, unless your phone was out of charge. I imagine things would get especially confusing for you then." Poor thing.
Memo blinked. She was spinning around like she was looking for something, but she didn't find it and then smiled anyway. Was she concerned about something being there more than not being there? Obviously not too much, since she was talking again and she wasn't nearly as airheaded as he was. He was kind of a special level of airhead.
Onwards they would go! To somewhere. Hm. He couldn't exactly afford to get even tea right now. That was, er, dramatic enough to remember. Plus his wallet wasn't in his pocket because it wasn't poking him. His phone wasn't poking him either. Had he forgotten it?
Nope, there it was. Different pocket, but safe. All good. "Habits help a lot with things like phone charging. Not perfect, but helpful. Plus the things I do remember I remember really, really well. At least until I forget them. Like taking HD pictures on a small memory card, I guess. But with automatic overwriting."
Serena gave the man an amused smile. He was very friendly, and sweet. She felt like some people in life just got super unlucky with the genetic lottery. She'd met more than one mutant who had the most rotten luck when it came to the power they had been given. Like Sylar, the poor kid whose body was turning into a monster gradually, who as a result had never been treated like a human, until he met her at least. Or this guy, who couldn't keep memories or likely build relationships with people. It was sad.
She nodded as the two of them walked. "I can't imagine what that's like." She replied simply, again trying to swat at her empathy with a mental fly swatter. Serena had a tendency to feel for people, and she was the type of person to tear up immediately at something particularly heavy in the emotional department, whether it was happy or sad. She didn't really want to cry in front of him, that might confuse him further.
"Do you like hot beverages, Memo?" She asked with a slightly more forced smile.
