The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

It was almost Eleven pm and it was a cool night, despite the summer heat. Mizuki had found herself in bear mode and outside about ten minutes prior and while cool it was still hot for the bear and So Mizuki had decided on a swim.
Mentally smiling to herself as her bear form's smile looked terrifying to most people she looked at the pool and got an idea. Mizuki herself was unsure how to swim but the bear was big enough for that not to matter. Did her bear form understand how to swim? She had to assume yes but their was no true way to be sure.
She charged the pool running for the thrill of it enjoying her control. At the pool edge she jumped into the air doing a bad exacuted flip which saw her hit the water hard on her back. Mizuki felt the impact but it felt like nothing to her bulk
Dunking her head underwater she then rose up to her hind legs and let out a not to quite roar from the joy of the fun she was having. Playfully she used a massive paw to see how much water she could splash at one time, mentally laughing at her own antics.
Shaking her head sending water drops everywhere she considered the diving board and wondered of it would hold her. Deciding to try she pulled her bulk out of the water not noticing the scratched her claws and weight were putting in the dement,
Serena had spent the day at the mansion, helping out a little with some younger kids who were upset when she'd been there to see a friend of hers who was training to be a teacher. She had found it quite enjoyable, she'd always liked the younger kids at the mansion, and helping them feel more comfortable even if it was just chatting to some of them and letting them know that it did get better, or that big scary Sam wasn't all that bad made her smile.
She'd stopped there for dinner and consequently was going out for a late night walk before grabbing a taxi home when she felt a little nostalgic and decided to walk around the courtyard and head towards the pool. Fond memories of all the things that she'd seen and done at the school. As she walked past the trees, she remembered a snowy outside, were a certain naked griffin boy had come bursting though, and then consequently given her a sight she'd never wanted to see.
As she approached the pool she remembered all the people she'd spoken to there, a teenage boy with a power that ended up dying the water black with carbon. She smirked. She heard loud splashing noises and then noted a large lumbering creature moved out of the water. It was a bear. In a swimming pool. At 11pm.
The Blonde burst into a little fit of giggles before shaking her head and exclaiming outloud. "only at the mansion can you see a bear leave a swimming pool and thing it's cute instead of terrifying."

Mizuki heard the laughter and the talking as she was almost out of the pool and promptly fell back into the water like the 1,000 pound weight she was. Even as she felt her back hit the bottom of the water it was easy to stand up and rise out of the water like a furry kaiju monster. She considered her options not really being capable of speech in this form, still from the reaction she was happy the girl seemed to know she was a mutant.
Getting out of the water she shook herself sending water droplets far and wide as she picked up her clothing with her teeth and in a very human gesture raised a finger as if to say wait.
Moving as easily as she could into the bathroom, she willed herself human. It took several minutes but she felt herself shrink back to human size. She was glad it went so smoothly for her this time, as sometimes it was very hard for her to get back to human.Once back she checked her body over to make sure she was all the way back before throwing on her t-shirt and pants.
"hello" she said stepping out of the bathroom, braiding her wet hair as she walked out. Their had been another reason she ahd changed, The bear Mizuki had looked at the new woman and considerd weather or not she was prey which scared her. She really did not wnat to hurt anyone on accident.
Serena tilted her head back and observed as the bear fell back into the water and rose back up like something out of a cheesy horror movie. If she was younger, or a student she may have even been scared or intimidated to some degree. However considering she'd seen some horrific things from nasty people, and had befriended and remained friends with Sylar who was basically a body horror predator she was fine.
Serena nodded gently as the creature moved towards the bathrooms. She yawned and sat at the edge of the pool. She was wearing shorts so she was able to dunk her legs in without getting any clothes particularly wet. She didn't find it to be particularly cold, it was more relaxing than anything else. She wished she'd brought her costume with her if she was being honest. It had been so long since she'd had any kind of a relaxing swim.
The blonde twisted her hair around a finger and looked up at the night sky, smiling at the moon looking like a beautiful, if slightly distorted and twisted pearl in the starry sky above.
She tilted her head as she heard noise from the side, remaining seated at the edge of the pool, gently splashing her legs about in the water. She smiled at the woman who had appeared, she assumed this was the large mammal from a few minutes prior. "Hello, my apologies if I startled you or ruined your evening swim. I was feeling nostalgic so decided to visit one of my old haunts, as it were." She responded to the other girls greeting in a serene, relaxed tone.

"No it's ok" she said taking a few seconds top realize the accent this girl had. It was rough but she was sure she get past it. "My Name is Mizuki, I am twelve and just got here 2 months ago" she said introducing herself. It sounded like the woman did not live here but had at some point. She wnated to ask questions on this but their were other issues to deal with first.
"My control leave something to be....improved" she said looking a but shy about it. She did not want to admit she had changed back do to this womans entrance but still she had done it to make sure the other woman stayed safe. She did not wnat to acidently try and eat anyone and wa snot sure if she could lose control once she had it.
"May i ask your name?" she asked politely walking closer to the other girl. She wnated to make friends as the world outside the mansion seemed scary still and she was pretty sure she would not change unwilling at the moment, she hoped. It really was a lovely night out and as she shivered slightly she realized how warm the bear had been even in the water.
Serena smiled at the girl gently, turning and paying more direct attention to the younger girl. She couldn't tell if she was shy, or just new to the country and un-used to an accent like Serena's. There were certainly a handful of English students at the mansion, her accent was much more pronounced though. She nodded and let the girl carry on with her introductions.
She was so new to the mansion! Serena remembered when she was like that, and everything seemed a little terrifying, but she couldn't bring herself to show it, so she asked everybody she met bursts of questions about the mansions, and did her best to be sociable. Of course, the circumstances that actually led to the girl ending up at the mansion were a bit different to most students. But she wondered if the younger girl was experiencing something at all similar right now.
Her heart went out to the young girl. Her face took on a more sympathetic look before she smiled again gently and responded. "It's a pleasure to meet you Mizuki, my name is Serena." She added politely. "And don't worry too much about control right now. It's nothing to be ashamed of, plenty of young mutants have a lot of trouble with it when they first arrive. I certainly did." She soothed.

She nodded to Serena as she spoke, she seemed pretty nice. "Just afraid I might hurt someone before i gain control. " She explained quite awhere of the power her other form wielded. "The bear see's people as food and transforming tends to make me hungry" she continued. She was unsure how much of this Serena might understand from other mutants she had encountered in the past.
"My sister turns into a brown bear, we discovered our powers while arguing and did quite a bit of damage to the school and i almost died before my sister could gain control herself" she explained. She still had the scars and hospital records to show it and always would. She recalled the rampage which had been much shorter then it had felt like, she could have sword they had fought for an hour but in relaity it had been under 10 minutes.
"May i ask what your powers are?" that had been a fun thing about moving here. She missed her family but the mansion was never boring and you could often count on seeing a new mutation at least once a day. Still she tried to keep to herself though she was not very good at it, she liked people to much, even if she was scared of hurting them.
Oh boy. Serena was starting to feel more and more sympathy for the poor girl. She had come into her mutation in quite a violent, disturbing way. And in even worse circumstances. She hadn't planned on sticking around, but now she wanted to hang around and try to make sure the girl was getting the right help she needed, and if not stick a boot up the appropriate behind.
She nodded a few times in response to the other girl. "I see." She waited for Mizuki to finish before responding, clearly putting though into her words. "It's actually quite common. Not bear shifting in particular, but side effects like the one you just mentioned." She paused to let that sink in before carrying on. "I've known quite a few students with similar issues, and I myself have had some particularly nasty side effects."
She waited for more of the story. "Well I'm glad to see you survived the ordeal, and are safely at the mansion." She smiled gently. "Have they been working with you on control?" She queried. She had waited too long to seek proper help with her power, and in the end decided it was better to work it out alone, but she knew that for most mutants the alternative of actually seeking help was the far far better choice.
The blonde adjusted her hair mildly awkwardly, blowing stray strands out of her eyes. A leftover psychological tick from when she used to be very nervous about her power. "My ablity revolves around the blood of myself and others. It's pretty unpleasant to witness so I'll spare you the details, but I sort of get what you're going through."

She nodded softly. "They have and they think stress might trigger transformation or maybe emotions or what limits it has. No one is very sure I'm not even sure how to turn into my bear form." she admitted. She had found herself in the form and had remembered to grab her clothing before she went for the swim. It was a tribute to their resilience the people she had encountered in the halls had made room for her but had barely muttered a word.
Blood? That sounded a bit creepy. It sounded like that might be a hard mutation to deal with and her imagination ran wild with anime examples of such characters. This did not help and Mizuki decided maybe cartoons were poor things to draw examples from. Either way it seemed a very creepy power to have and the implications of being able to use it were....disgusting as one had to be bleeding. She decided she did not wnat to know how this woman got her powers.
"It's strange i feel like people should be afraid of me and what i can do but no one here is. Their concerned of course but they let me roam around freely" she said concern evident in her voice on this idea. "Did you have a lot of trouble controlling your powers?" she asked curiously. She knew it was common but some got hold of their powers much easier then others.
Serena nodded and closed her eyes momentarily. She knew a thing or two about biology, and mutation (for obvious reasons) and she could see why that might be the case. A lot of involuntary shifters she had met were triggered by adrenaline, so she couldn't see why stress wouldn't be a fairly common or obvious cause for such a thing to happen. "I see. I can understand why they might think that." She replied.
The other reason Serena spared people she had just met the gory details of how her power worked is that it really was quite disturbing, especially for people not used to being around blood to witness. She distinctly remembered being taken aback when her two teenage friends James and Leon had referred to it as 'cool' The blonde smiled at the memory. It was one of the first times she felt normal since getting her power.
The blonde gave a light shake of her head. "It's normal for people around here. The school has had a lot of dangerous powers over the years, and people and the students learned to cope." She smirked. "Hell, mine was probably a handful. I have a pyrokinetic friend who had similar issues."
She then nodded in response. "Yup. I had major control issues, and my power is one of the most dangerous I've ever seen in action. I've got pretty excellent control now, but that was a lot of diligent training." She smiled. "So don't worry, even the trickiest powers can be mastered!"

She considered that The mansion likely had dealt with many dangerous mutants over the years and that they may have seen much more dangerous things then her or even that she could imagine. She had kept considering herself very dangerous but Mutants some times made the news were very dangerous as well and much more willing to kill.
The idea of a pyrokinetic made her think. That was pretty dangerous as building and people were both quite flammable. "Not being able to control fire powers would be very dangerous....." she said considering Serena's words. More so if they had any range on those powers. Even polar bears were not immune to being burned alive.
"That is comforting. Blood control, that seems like it would be easy to hurt yourself with that" she said further considering the others power and trying to imagine what she had gone threw. It really had to of been terrible. She equated excellent control with having bled a lot which was a bit and her calling it dangerous she thought more to Serena herself the others. "In action?" it seemed strange that a power opver blood would have any real use. Thena agin what use could her own have.
"I am willing to put in the effort to control my power, for others sake as well as my own. I Just don't want to hurt anyone in the meantime. You have made me feel better about my chances though" she said honestly. It was strange back home people had looked at her with fear but here no one cared at all.
"I have seen mutants in the news i would never want to meet. We were evacuated to a bomb shelter once during class because of one" she recalled not quite remembering the name of the mutant. "So you used to live here then?" she said glad she had thought to grab her clothing on the way out tonight or this would have been really awkward.
Serena's mind again wandered back in time, she remembered meeting Kate and feeling a strong kinship with the other girl. They were from the same area of the world, and the UK. The two had bonded over the difficulty of their powers, and how a certain alcoholic teacher had helped the both of them. She smiled at the memories before realising that she was looking up at the sky absent mindedly again turning her attention back to the younger female.
She shrugged. "I don't know of any at the school currently. Kate was a lovely person though, it was a shame her powers troubled her when she was younger." It was sad that so many mutants struggled when they were young in particular. Thankfully it seemed like relatively few that couldn't get control even later in life.
Another shrug. "It has been a bit complex, and I used to be more a danger to others than myself. As I said though, the school is very good at helping you get a handle on it. Most of the teachers are fantastic." She didn't hasten to add that as with any school there were a few teachers or staff members that she had disliked more than others.
She didn't elaborate on why her power was an 'action' type. She didn't feel like getting into it. "I'm glad to hear that. And Yes, I moved in when I was 16, stayed until I was around 19. This place was my home during a very dark time for me, which is why I'm relaxing here now. Nostalgia." She mused.

Hearing about other mutants who struggled with their powers was very comforting to her. She knew other must have trouble and had even seen it a few times since she got here. It made her question how the mansion was still standing.
She took note of the 'most teachers' part but did not react to it. "They have been quite helpful so far. I have encountered many wonderful mutants here. " she said including Serena in that number. She had not met anyone she disliked at the mansion so far which was good and better then her old school by far.
"Did it take that long to get control over your power?" she asked wondering if she would be here for years as well. She kind of hoped not but it was a real possibility. She reminded herself she had asked for this, not the powers but to move to the usa to improve her control.
"I wonder why we get the powers we have?" she asked knowing the answer as unknown. She could not explain the use a polar bear would have in Kyoto. In fact it seemed more detrimental to the tightly packed city. "I heard from a green skinned guy the police use evil robots to find and catch us" she said recalling her conversation with Elliot.
The blonde mutant's legs continued to swish around gently in the water. She missed swimming. She may have to join a gym or something next year to get some more of it in. She knew it was great exercise but she had always found it to be such a stress relieving, relaxing activity. "Well, I'm certainly glad to hear that. I'm not surprised though, they have a lot of experience." She admitted.
She gently drew her hand through the water idly as she carried on the conversation with the she-bear. The blonde sighed. "Yes, however I was a late bloomer and I'm told that's often an issue. My power only activated at 16, I'm 20 now. Took me about 3 years to get a good level of control. Most powers aren't that complex though, I also had some psychological stuff to work through that was effecting me." She mused outloud.
Serena turned again and smiled at the young student. "Some people believe everything happens for a reason. Personally, I think it's just pot luck. But I also have a lot of faith in people, everyone is strong enough to overcome pretty much anything, given the right support and determination." She giggled at her own notion.
Serena tried to be very truthful and transparent when it came to people asking honest questions, though it was always trickier with kids. "Hmm. Well firstly I'd advise you that especially where opinions are concerned with mutants who have physical constant powers, they may be slightly biased, or have been subjected to more distrust than others, like say me or you who look relatively human." She paused to let it sink in before continuing.
"As for them being Evil, there have been occasional issues with some malfunctioning robots, however it's worth bearing in mind that not all people are nice either. The police by in large, tend to be good people." She sighed. "Not to sound like I'm giving a speech or anything, Mizuki. But the one piece of advice I can give you being a young mutant living in an unfamiliar place is take everything you hear with a pinch of salt, try to keep an open mind. If an opinion is being told in a very passionate, or aggressive way be wary of it." She smiled.

The news that it had taken this girl three years to control her powers gave her fear. If it took Aoi that long she was sure someone would wind up injured or dead. She had to hope and try to make sure that it would take her so long, it was simply to risky for those around her. Plus Aoi was unsure how she could live with herself if she actually killed someone. Aoi entirely missed the good control qualifier as well as not entirely grasping the part on phyologicle issues.
"Well if we all had faith and trust in each other this world would;d be such a gorgeous place for all of us. Would be way less scary does that mean people who use their powers for evil got the wrong support?" she asked curiously. She knew their were many mutants out there who were very violent and willing to kill. Japan had been relatively quite on that but she had seen on the news one a few times.
"It must be hard for those who can't hide" she she admitted considering the idea if she was Polar bear Aoi all the time. She had trouble not seeing herself in a zoo.
Aoi tried to take in her advice and turned it over in her mind. It was true she tended to believe whatever came her way. What Aoi did not quite understand however was how to tell the difference between opinion and reality. These people had lived here and knew the area where as she was from the other side of the planet. "Hopefully people will learn we are all the same" she said hoping humanity would learn quickly.
She walked over and sat next to Serena dipping her own feet into the water. "So far i have done my best just to stay here on the schools grounds" she said having only gone out as a Bear and then not being awhere of it. Though this to was in large part from her fear of hurting those around her.
