Sarah had bit the bullet a while ago. She was getting her archery skills back up to what they used to be. The indoor range she found was definitely helping her there. She had been a little annoyed they wouldn't let her use her own arrows, but it did make some sense. Hunting arrows would be a lot more dangerous in the enclosed space and probably cause a lot more damage then the small tipped arrows the range supplied. They came in a variety of weights though so it wasn't too bad.
There weren't usually many people at the range. At least the archery side. Some youths came to practice, probably because of all the media involving archery. Today, when she arrived, only two high school girls shared the range with her. They had probably come together since they seemed comfortable with each other. They were pretty proficient too, so the brunette didn't have to wait long before being able to collect her allotted dozen arrows.
The steady rhythm of notching, drawing, and firing was calming. 'I forgot how meditative this was,' she mused as she waited for the girls to finish.

Getting to the range had thankfully gone by without a hitch. The lack of a broken META with a shot gun made the trip much more enjoyable than last time. It had been far too long since her really got some practice in. As it happened, Randy arrived early for the firing lanes he reserved. He was likely the only person to ever reserve a lane at all, let alone multiple lanes. However he liked to test himself while porting between lanes. Not exactly something you want another person to accidentally walk into. Since he had to wait anyway Randy wandered over towards the archery hallway. Of the few people there one archer stood out to him. He wasn’t any judge on form or technique but she seemed a fairly decent shot. She had a careful and practiced rhythm.

She was keeping rhythm easily. Even rusty, she was faster than the two girls in the range with her. As she waited, Sarah looked around the range. There was a man looking in on them. He didn't look like he was here for the archery range. Which wasn't all the surprising. Just that he looked in on the archery range instead of going straight to the gun portion. From her experience, most people liked to ignore the archery area if they could. It probably helped that the archery area was towards the back of the building.
The semi-steady sound of the two girls practicing stopped. Looking back, Sarah found them going for their arrows. She did the same. No reason to keep them waiting on her. Not when they had a nice camaraderie going. She walked passed the line with her dozen arrows, going on to the door. She opened the door and turned towards the outlier.
"Don't get many 'Rambo's down here," she smiled. "What brings you to this end of the range?"

As the archers went to collect their arrows the girl hew was watching joined him in the hall.
>> "Don't get many 'Rambo's down here. What brings you to this end of the range?"
Rambo? He didn't look that old did he? Never mind that he was that old. "Just waiting for my lanes over in the gun range. I do some unique shooting so I need to reserve a few lanes in advance. Safety reasons and such." Now that Randy thought about it. Porting while shooting probably counted as trick shooting.
"For the most part I just do target practice. Keep from getting rusty ya'know?" While he made an effort to never use his guns unless absolutely necessary the woman seemed to know what she was doing when she was shooting. More than just hobby shooting. Did New York City even allow bow hunting?
