The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

”Yes to both.” Sam said with a shrug as he made the little rabbit hop a few times for Juliette. Sam watched and pictured what the rabbit would do if it were alive and under it’s own control. Sam shifted his attention back to Juliette and raised an eyebrow. ”I kinda think what it should do and then it does it. Then other times they kind of act on their own. Body doubles just protect me for the most part and do what I normally do.” Sam said choosing to not use the word golem, because most people would think of a big hulking monster. Something he was capable of making but often chose not to.
Sam was about to dismiss his construct then stopped as his attention shifted to Juliette again. The ball of light came up as white-hot with his sixth sense causing a portion of his face to be coated in a thick ice. His bodies defense mechanism. You don’t live a life like Sam has lived and not develop something of the like. When the ball dissipated Sam shook his head with a smirk causing the ice to fall off and break apart before they created puddles or something for someone to slip on.
”Just light or any kind?” Sam asked not bothering to explain what had just happened. It was involuntary and something he didn’t want to happen so he pretended it didn’t. ”I have a friend named Lee who called it being an energy vampire. She couldn’t touch people without making them tired or weaker.” Sam said looking back to the bunny and shifting the construct into a dancing ballerina. Something he used to do as a conversation starter when he tried to pick up some women from a bar.
"So if you were to leave the rabbit to its own devices, what would it do?" Juliette asked him curiously as she continued to watch it move across the table. The idea of body doubles was especially interesting. Did they look like him or were they different, she wondered. It was a question for another time.
As the ball of light moved closer to Sam, his face seemed to change. It grew a layer of ice over his features, enlarging them and causing the light to bounce off in every direction. After the ball dissapated, Sam shook his head and the ice fell off in small chunks. Juliette laughed at him, amused by his body language. He didn't seem at all bothered by the ice, and shaking it off looked like second nature. He didn't say anything about it, so neither did she.
The one question she did ask was a safe one. "Does the cold bother you, or do you not feel it? Oh- and that was not an invitation to sing Frozen."
"Just light," Juliette answered his question easily. "Anything that gives it off, so fire or sunlight, for example. Don't worry, I'm not going to suck out your life force or anything. That sounds difficult."
She turned her attention to the little rabbit that had shifted into a ballerina on the table. It was absolutely mesmerizing to watch. She found herself lost in the movements as the ice reflected the light from the lamp above. A sudden thought struck her as she watched it, though. Sam seemed very comfortable.
"Is this a regular thing for you?" She asked him with a hint of caution in her voice. The way he spoke and used props made it seem like he had done that kind of thing many times. "Taking people out to bars, I mean."

”No the cold never bothered me anyways.” Sam said he laughed slightly then waved his hand as he tried to explain his powers more. ”I mean I can feel it, a change in temperature but it just doesn’t really affect me the way it does everyone else. Sure I sweat when I do something physical, I can feel heat, fire, physical contact…” he let that hang for a second before he continued. Taking a sip of his drink again he added. ”It just… is.. you know? I can spend a few months on my own in the artic with nothing more than a pair of shorts and some whiskey.” that actually happened not too long ago.
”As to the rabbit. I don’t know. I guess it would do… rabbit things? Unless I tell it to do other things.” Sam pointed to the Ballerina who bowed slightly before going back to her movements.
”Lee actually couldn’t control it. It made her difficult to get close to anyone. How her and her husband had a kid I still have no idea. Must have been difficult for both of them.” Sam trailed off wondering what Lee was up to; it had been a while since he had talked to her. Though if she wanted to talk she’d probably call him.
”Hmmm… That is a good question. Guess you could say I meet more people at the bar then take people.” Sam then smirked into his glass, ”You brought me here by the a way.” Sam knew what she was asking but he’d thought he’d give her a hard time about it. ”It’s been a while.” he watched the Ballerina for a second then waved his causing the ice figure to wave then dissipate. ”Why do you ask?” Sam looked down as the fries were placed in front of them.
"Hey, what did I say about quoting Frozen?" Juliette laughed a little at his comment. "You just need to let it go," she added, figuring she was already deep in the hole of references so there was no use fighting it.
She nodded as he recounted a tale of his time in the Arctic. "That sounds rather lonely," she pointed out. Even spending time in the city got rather lonely for Juliette. Although, that could be chalked up to her own unwillingness to settle anywhere. It just always seemed easier to leave than to deal with any issues.
"Well, yes. Technically I brought you here, but you originally brought up drinks," Juliette countered, satisfied with his answer. "I guess it was sort of a stupid question. I just... I don't know... It's been a while since I've been anywhere that didn't involve work in some way."
"You know, there's nothing stopping you from eating them," she gestured to the plate that Sam was so obviously fixated on. She took a sip of her drink before adding, "I'm not really eating them."
"So what do non-mutant people usually talk about at bars?" She asked him curiously after a moment. "Well, I guess you wouldn't know either, would you?"

”You ordered them to not eat them?” Sam asked with an eyebrow raised. Sam picked up the basket of fries and looked under it then pretended to examine the basket further. ”Doesn’t seem dangerous.” he set the basket down then looked to Juliette trying to decide if she is another beautiful assassin here to kill him. Sam didn’t really want to deal with those anymore.
”Yet another question I think you are trying to get a particular answer.” Sam said sipping his beer avoiding the trap. The beer gave him a second to think, ”Pretty much whatever mutants talk about minus the powers.” Sam said his statement sounding more like a question. The girls he dated talked about work, his drinking buddies talked about the good old days. Sam, well he could talk about pretty much anything.
”Furthest you ever traveled?” Sam asked trying to get off the topic of powers if she wasn’t feeling capable of a subject change on her own.
Juliette shrugged, "you never know, I might have poisoned them." She covered her terrible poker face by taking another sip of her beer as she watched Sam inspect them. "I'm quite obviously a dangerous spy with no medical training. I would watch out for those stitches, if I were you."
"You're very paranoid, aren't you?" Juliette chuckled softly. "Well, I guess I'd have to say Trinidad, but I don't really remember it. I only lived there for the first few months of my life. Other than that, I've mostly only been inside of North America."
"What about you?" She turned the question back on him with a curious expression. "Have you ever been father than the Arctic?"

”I’ve met some dangerous women ‘with’ medical training.” Sam put the emphasis on the ‘with’. Athena was the most recent and she didn’t even want to kill Sam, that he knew of.
”I’ve had stiches before. These held up after a little teaching so I think they are good. You seem to at least know how to do that.” Sam shifted his good eye after squinting at Juliette to the fries. He slowly picked one up and made it look like he was sniffing it. ”Sometimes more than others. Would have been dead more than a once.” Sam said not thinking much of the subject. Putting the food in his mouth he waited a second and chewed.
A grin reflected what he thought of the fries after he swallowed. ”Hmmm, might be the best poison I have ever tasted.” Poison tasted and smelled sour to him most of the time.
”Define farther.” Sam said as he thought a little. The artic was north so if he kept going north he’d eventually end up back where he was now. ”Been north, east, south and west.” Sam said grabbing another fry making sure it still wasn’t poison. ”I traveled a lot when I was younger, longest I stayed anywhere for a period of time was about 10 years. After that I was pretty much all over.” T.A.T.M.A.H. might have been evil but the travel was at least nice. Except for some parts of Australia, everything wanted to kill you there.
”Honestly two favorite places in the world other than the mansion are the Rockies in Colorado and near the artic circle. Antarctica is a close second though.“ Sam smirked, ”Good question though.” A sip of the beer and Sam then asked, ”Craziest thing you saw in the ER?”
"Do you make a point of tasting poison?" Juliette asked him with a chuckle as she watched Sam eat one of the fries very cautiously. "You never know, it might be iocane powder. That wouldn't be completely inconceivable."
"Alright, so I guess father was the wrong word to use," she admitted. "I can relate to the constant moving, though. My mom was a bit of a nomad, you know? Never really happy in one place."
She closed her eyes briefly, trying to imagine the places that Sam described. "I've never been there. I suppose I'll have to add it to the list of places to go."
"Craziest E.R. story..." Juliette bit her lip and thought until a story struck her. "Well, I'll skip all the gory and phallic things, but there was this one time where this elderly man came in absolutely plastered, but he hadn't had anything to drink. He was five times the legal alcohol limit, but he couldn't remember ever taking a drink that day. It took the doctors forever to figure it out, but eventually they figured out that it was Gut Fermentation Syndrome. Basically, he had a build-up of yeast growth that kept him permanently drunk."
"Alright, same question but with your teaching job," she finished and took a sip of her almost-finished beer.

”No, I just know what I should be looking for or smelling. If that was a real poison I’d be worried.” Sam said still not sure if it was real or not. He knew it was from a movie he just couldn’t remember which. Lately his drunken habits usually ended in movies instead of sleeping. Maybe he watched it recently when he raided Shin’s movie library.
”Hmmm…. I work at a school for mutants…. I see some crazy stuff…” it hit Sam like a ton of bricks as he said the word crazy. ”Okay, imagine hundreds of Penguins dolled up in their best tux’s.” Sam focused and stared at the table near the fries as a little penguin appeared holding a tray as if he was serving at a fancy occasion. The ice construct waddled towards Juliette after grabbing a fry and placing it on his tray.
”Now imagine there are about six to seven feet tall. And they explode when they over heat.” Sam took a fry of his own and bit into it as he explained further, ”Granted it wasn’t a class I taught but I wasn’t always a teacher there. It was when I first came to the place and Neena wanted to see what I was capable of.” Sam took another bite. ”Neena was one of the teachers that convinced me to stay instead of pass through.” Sam said waving his hand as if that bit of information was important. It was to Sam at least.
”Other than that, Vampires are real.” Sam said as he sipped his beer ending the statement. Honestly, Sam had too many stories to tell and the weirder things got in the mansion when it came to mutations and the kids the less he thought it was weird or crazy.
”GFS?” Sam said sipping his beer again, ”Sounds like a nightmare. Couldn’t even taste any of the good stuff before getting drunk.” Sam took a sip of his beer and then sighed some as he swallowed the last bit of fry.
”So the thing about the artic or the Rockies, you’ll need a tour guide. Someone that can keep you warm.” Sam waved his hand as if he mentioned a touchy subject, ”I mean, someone that can keep the cold away. Otherwise it wouldn’t be that fun. Frostbite, bears, etc.” Sam noticed she was further along with her beer than he was so he took a bigger gulp, ”So what I’m saying is if you want to go on weekend trip sometime I know the guy and the pilot to take you there. Strictly as friends mind you.” Sam finished his beer and then took another bite of a fry.
"Penguins, huh? That sounds... Entertaining," Juliette laughed as the little penguin walked around the table. She took the fry off of the little tray it was holding and gave it a small wink.
She raised her eyebrows at the vampire comment, "really? Are they more Dracula style or Twilight? Please tell me they don't sparkle." She wasn't completely sold on the idea, but mutants were already strange enough, so the idea wasn't totally implausible.
Juliette hadn't even considered a tour guide. Usually, when she went somewhere she just spent her time exploring. She had never splurged enough to participate in anything guided or touristy. The cold did scare her, though. The cold meant dimmed sunlight and low heat - a recipe for disaster with her powers. It wouldn't be the best idea for her to go alone.
Sam seemed to contradict himself slightly as he spoke. He would say something and then clarify it, as if he was trying a little too hard to get the point across. She did appreciate it, though. He seemed to be trying to not make her uncomfortable.
"Are you... Offering a tour guide suggestion or accompaniment?" Juliette asked after a moment, doing her best to gauge his reaction. He hadn't stated it outright and she wasn't sure if she was hearing him correctly.

”Yes.” Sam simply wishing he didn’t finish his beer. A sip in silence was what he needed. Looking around for the waiter Sam cleared his throat and got back to the Dracula question. ”No sparkle. At least I’m not sure. One of them doesn’t go out in the day and I have only heard about the other two.” Sam said neglecting to mention the werewolf’s and the lizard people.
Sam looked to his penguin on the table then willed it to shake then break apart sending a few ice cubes a few inches as if the creation exploded. ”They blew up though. Teaching methods are a little different in the mansion.” Sam said lifting his glass and asking, ”Care for another?”
Juliette pressed her lips together when he responded. He didn't actually answer her question, but he acted sort of awkward about the subject, so she didn't want to press it further than needed. Plus, it wasn't hard to assume what the yes meant from his reaction.
"How different?" She asked him curiously. It made sense that it would be different from a typical school, but it was difficult to get her mind around a school full of mutants. Especially where no one worried about having to hide their powers.
She stretched her arms out and finished off the last of her drink, "I probably shouldn't. I'm on call tomorrow, so it's not a good idea to have more than one drink. Thanks for the offer, though."

”Well, for starters we have a room that is anything proof.” Sam said exaggerating the power of the Danger Room. It was true it could withstand a lot of things but Sam had seen it get damaged before. ”We help kids learn how to control their gifts or curses depending on who you are asking.” Sam said figuring she could get an idea.
”On call? Fair enough.” if this was a date that would have been Sam’s cue to end the night however since it wasn’t a date he wasn’t sure what he should do. So he did what he normally did when he wasn’t sure what to do. He talked. ”Hold up you mentioned Twilight and Dracula… which one is a vampire in your mind?”
"I think it's good that those kids have somewhere to go," Juliette stated. "I wish I would have known about that when I was in school. It probably would have saved me some anxiety over things. Too late now, though."
"Hmm," she rolled her lips together and looked at the table as she thought about his question. "Well I guess technically they're both vampires, but Dracula always seemed like the true vampire. Plus, the whole idea of Twilight seems just a little creepy. I don't know. What do you think?"

”Well, the only Vampire I know that sparkles is Victoria, but she’s like a thirteen year old girl who has a fascination with glitter so… you know. However movie vampire all about the old school Dracula.” Sam pulled his arm to cover his face as if he was Dracula and there was a cape covering his nose down. In a very poor Transylvanian accent he added, ”But I’d rather run into vampires that sparkle because I know I can take’em in a fight.”
Sam dropped the arm and the accent, ”You know it’s never too late. You can come check out the school. There is room and board as well if you need cheap rent.” Sam joked then added, ”I live there now actually. Have for a few years. Nice place to live if you don’t mind the occasional fire or earthquake or eyebeams or…” Sam laughed, ”Pretty sure I’d wouldn’t want to live anywhere else.”
”So uhhhh, when did you discover your powers?” Sam asked regretting asking her a very common question he hears.
