Abby listened to Cafas while she dug into their meal. It was nice not eating alone for once. Usually she ate before or after the school wide meal times. She didn't like people touching her. And it really was the best time to swim. No one bothered her then. And she got to be left alone while she swam.
>>"I was sad to lose my family. Angry even. Eventually I came here though, and even though it took a while, the people here became my new family. So at least I got a happy ending to that story, right?"
The little blonde hummed in agreement. Though she wasn't very popular in the school, she still felt safe here though. And she was rarely alone unless she wanted to be. Cafas seemed nice. He had helped her cook. And he wasn't scared of her teeth. He even gave her advice. "Can I be part of your family?" she asked quietly, unsure of how he would respond.

Cafas nearly choked. That was quite out of the blue. What was he supposed to say? Well, he probably wasn't supposed to say anything. how often did this sort of situation come up? Surely there were no societal norms relating to it. He seriously could have cried from how adorable it was. That felt like a silly reaction though. Oh what the hell, she needed someone to be her family? Cafas could be that for her.
"You can, if you want. Now, as we're family, I promise you can come to me for anything, and I'll do my best to help you." Not that he'd always succeed, Cafas was veritably useless at certain things. Actually, if it didn't involve fighting, metal, or being fit, he probably wasn't much good at it. But his best would always be done, because he'd committed to that.
It was a lot of responsibility.
But it made him smile.
