The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"Hrr just interresting I guess," said Tyson, deciding not to try and push it, Juliette may not have even heard of the incident, all he would really accomplish would be alienating himself, "Neverrr mind," there wasn't anything he could do to change what he did anyway. It wasn't as if it were his only lapse in control, nor would it likely be the last. He could only hope that he hadn't killed them, but would likely never know.
He felt a bit bad, Juliette seemed nice, but he was already sort of lying to her, even if it were lies of omission. Just another one of the things he was ashamed of, hiding things from everyone, wither it was his mom, or the institute, having not shared any of his incidents with them despite taking him in. He felt dishonest, but still terrified of letting people know. He supposed he was scared of being completely rejected, he had so little of a human life left, and if that were taken away as well, he didn't know what would be left for him.
An awkward silence followed, Tyson sipped some more juice, not sure how to continue the conversation. He felt like he was messing it all up, Juliette was probably used to better company then him. People who were less awkward and intimidating, people without emotional baggage, people more... more human...
I don't think people understand how stressful it is to explain what's going through your head when you don't even understand it yourself. Wolf
Juliette sighed; the conversation was not going well. She wasn't sure how many more awkward silences she could take.
"Alright, well I had a boy come in recently that was attacked by fans of a famous mutant. Dislocated shoulder, a bite on the hand and a broken nose. It was all a bit strange to be honest," she told him, hoping that it was the sort of 'interesting' that Tyson was looking for.
"There are lots of other cases as well, if you'd like to hear about them."
It didn't sound like the guys from the incident, he hadn't gotten a good look at the injuries he inflicted then, but he had thrown up a chunk of human flesh immediately afterwards, so he knew at least he had done more then just a bite on the hand. And whoever they were had definitely not been mutant fans. "hrrr, no that's ok," he said, trying to think of another topic that would change the way the conversation seemed to be going. "So... hrr what do you think of the rrrrobots on the strrreets?" he asked, thinking it was probably a safe enough topic. So far he hadn't had any issues with the Meta, aside from his own paranoia. The didn't set off his instincts as much since they were machines and lacked an prey/predator scent to make him categorize them. It seemed to be that way with certain mutations as well, when the biology or someone was completely different from human norms, like Elliott and Danica. It made him more comfortable when his nose didn't interfere with his interactions with people. He was getting a little better at tempering his reactions, at least when he could expect it. If something caught him off guard he generally lost control, but as long as something out of the ordinary didn't happen he was usually able to keep himself on a leash.
"Hrrr I've seen a few and they seem okay forrr the most parrrt." he continued, hoping that the topic would spark her interest a bit more. At the very least he wanted to make her feel less intimidated by him and feel more comfortable. If anything the Meta were a thing that was supposed to affect both humans and mutants since they weren't supposed to specifically target either group. Hopefully Julliette and him could find some common ground in something that related to them both.

A memory flashed in Juliette's eyes as Tyson brought up the META bots. At one point, she hadn't disagreed with their purpose. Then, she had truly seen what they were capable of. They had attacked her and Atian over a simple misunderstanding, and god, could they ever be terrifying. It was a painful memory to think about, as she still didn't know what had become of Atian, and she couldn't help thinking that there was more she could have done. After all, it had been within her capability to lead the police away. Instead, he had sacrificed himself so that she would be able to get away.
She looked down at her empty mug in her hands for a moment before she answered. She didn't quite know what to say to him, and she didn't want to step on any toes, so she decided to remain vague about it. "I think... That they are probably a nice thought for someone that doesn't have to fear them. When you do, though, it's sort of disconcerting."
From the sudden change in expression and tone, Tyson could tell that he had managed to put his foot in his mouth again. Obviously he had hit a sore spot and now Juliette was more uncomfortable then ever. It didn't look like he could get anything right today. He supposed there was just too much he didn't know about. All he could really see was the news and what little he saw in his few trips outside the mansion. He was ignorant and stupid to have brought it up without knowing more. His ears pressed back reflexively to his mood. "I... hrrr suppose yourrrr rrrright," he said, an apologetic tone in his rough voice, "I'm probably not one to talk hrr since I don't get out much." He was a bit afraid to say anything more, he had messed up too many times already, she was probably ready to take off.

Juliette sighed. Their conversation was an absolute mess.
"No, it's not your fault," she said with a shrug. "It's hard to know sometimes. Media has a way of skewing things so they seem different than they are." Her fingers tapped on the table absently as she spoke. It was almost better that Tyson didn't get out; then he didn't have to deal with the horrible injustice of it all.
"Well, you're not missing all that much," she gave him a small smile. "The outside world is a lot of this - people sitting around and acting like they know what they're doing. No one's really got it as together as they pretend."
Juliette was probably right, he was foolish to put stoke in the media, when he had been human, he had taken things with a grain of salt, but... things were so crazy now, he couldn't distinguish anymore. He thought of her words in how they related to himself. He certainly didn't have it together, and it probably showed a lot on the outside with his fits of animal behaviors and breakdowns. What did that say how he actually was inside. A wretched shadow of what he had once been, a monster unable to control himself, yet delusional enough to think he could learn to be human again. He was pathetic.
"Hrr, yeah... things arrre neverrr what they seem. " he said, thinking about his father, how he had been tricked and his life ended. All he had done since then is brought trouble and misery to the people around him, his world had been turned upside down and all meaning had been lost with his human face. Since then he had been unraveling piece by piece as the stress of his condition worsened. After his identity crumbled over the weight of his new existence, what would be left? A beast? A monster? He couldn't tell, and was afraid to think into it. "hrrr sorrrrry forrr the trrrouble I caused," he said, looking down again as he thought about it.

"Don't worry about it," Juliette gave him a reassuring smile. She was beginning to fall more into a rhythm now, as she moved into more comfortable territory. Once she was more aware of his triggers, it became a little easier to talk with him. She figured it might help even more if she was honest with him. After all, he had probably shared more than he meant to with her.
"I probably did a lot worse when my powers first developed," she confided. "I remember one time I was sitting in a class and this kid made me really angry - I don't remember what over - but it got so bad that I accidentally absorbed most of the light in the school. We had a blackout for nearly two periods. I remember being terrified that people would find out it was me."
Tyson couldn't help but worry in spite of Juliette's reassurances. It was almost his default state, and every little action, big or small set him onto spirals of stress about what his rebellious body may be doing. He couldn't really stop it once his wolf brain took over, only by remaining on guard did he avoid naturally falling into animal instincts without noticing. He didn't know what curveball would be thrown at him next, or what other surprises his body had in store for him.
As Juliette continued, his heart sank a little as he realized that Juliette was in fact a mutant. Not that he didn't appreciate her help and concern, but he thought for a moment that a normal human had accepted him, and couldn't help but be a little disappointed when that wasn't the case. Well, at least someone else outside the institute accepted him, mutant or not. He listened as she talked of her own trials with her powers, and couldn't help but be envious, mostly because her powers didn't affect her appearance. It was usually the case when others talked about their abilities that he couldn't help but wish he had ended up with their abilities instead of his own, even if it were something silly like bringing origami figures to life. Still he understood fear and terror, more because he was afraid of himself than being afraid people owuld find him out. He couldn't hide himself, his mutation there for everyone to see, so he never had to worry about being outed as a mutant. He just needed to watch his back when in public.
"Hrr betterrr then having to deal with fleas." he said, a bit to try and cover up the insecurities he felt with some self targeted humor. He hadn't really had fleas since his transformation, at least not yet, the mansion was mostly animal free, if you didn't count some of the students.

Nope, apparently sharing hadn't made things easier. Tyson seemed to get more and more disappointed as she spoke, and she couldn't help but take it personally. Usually, when she met a fellow mutant, it was reassuring. But no, apparently not in this case.
Perhaps her powers were too flashy for him? Just because they looked cool didn't mean they didn't come with their own set of concerns. She suddenly decided against sharing that fact with him. He seemed to be in a bad enough state as it was.
She pursed her lips as he replied; yet another self-depreciating statement. "Fleas are never fun," she agreed, playing along. "But at least you have fur to keep you warm?"
Tyson could see he was dragging to conversation down in flames. His self loathing was obviously making Juliette uncomfortable, though he wasn't sure how to go about changing that. It wasn't easy to be positive when everything seemed to be wrong in his life, and even harder to get himself out of the funk that it caused. Nor did the knowledge of it's effect do much to make him feel any better or in control of his emotional state or thoughts. He felt like he was just having a pity party for himself, probably complaining needlessly. It wasn't as if he were the only mutant on the planet, and he was sure Juliette had her fair share of problems that came with her abilities. So why couldn't he get over it? He didn't know.
"Hrrr maybe," he said, trying not to bring up the cons of having fur, shedding, overheating, wet dog smell... she was trying to cheer him up, and he appreciated that. "So what can hrr you do?" he asked, hoping to get the focus off him by getting into Juliette's powers. He had seen a lot of interesting abilities at the institute, so he couldn't help but be a little curious. She had said she absorbed light, but that was probably just one aspect of her ability.

The fur comment had gone a little better than she had expected. He definitely didn't seem any happier, but at least he wasn't outrightly hating himself.
"I absorb and manipulate light energy," Juliette told him simply after he asked. "Basically I absorb it and then I can use it back in different ways, like blasts." She didn't go into too much more detail than that as it was difficult to explain without showing him. And she didn't really want to show him in the middle of a cafe.
"What does your ability let you do?" She asked him curiously. "Do you have enhanced senses?"
Tyson had seen a 'blast' power in action before, so he was familiar with the concept. Besides the explanation was strait forward and easy to visualize. He didn't ask for a demonstration, as the last one had been able to blow through a tree with little difficulty. Not all powers were in door friendly, just as his were not always people friendly.
"Do you have enhanced senses?"
"Hrr, yes, to an annoying degrrree," he said. His senses were way to sensitive, smell and sound easily overwhelmed him in his daily life, even if he was getting better at filtering them. Things that triggered his instincts were especially trying. "Hrrr hearrring and smell. Obviously the furrr and claws, enhanced physical abilities and rrregenerrration." he listed hem off somewhat robotically, how the institute had given it to him up front. It wasn't something he was proud enough about to get into great detail or get excited over. Despte some of the advantages he gained from it, the cons far outweighed them.

Juliette nodded. Was she being too loud? She had no idea what it was like to have enhanced senses. She glanced around the cafe. Was that too loud for him? There was a lot of conversation going on, and it seemed to be getting louder. Although, she realized that if that were the case, he likely wouldn't even bother going into the city.
"What does the regeneration feel like?" She asked him curiously. Most of her life revolved around fixing injuries, so it was interesting to hear from someone that didn't have that problem.
Juliette seemed to be considerate, or at least she thought maybe talking hurt his ears as she nodded instead of saying anything. Normal conversation was okay, the real problem was the amount of noise that assaulted him in most situations, sure, a person yelling in his ears would hurt a lot more, but just the amount of noise around him, the cars outside, the kitchen in the back, different people holding their own conversations, and so on, made his head ache with overstimulation. The same applied for scents, a strong scent could be overpowering, but the many scents together seemed worse.
He had to think about how to describe regeneration. He wasn't sure he had the right words to describe the feeling since it wasn't something he had grown up with. "Hrrr Things still hurrrt," he said, straining to find the description of the healing process, "It... I get overrr it quickly, hrrr it itches." It was not entirely accurate, but the closes he could get to the feeling of a cut knitting itself together within seconds. He supposed he was feeling the entire healing process that a regular person experiences, but compressed into a shorter amount of time, making it more noticeable.
