The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Adder's expression and body went very, very still in carefully gradual stages as the clearly more violent woman spoke. He made no indication of wanting to leave - not beyond what he'd been doing thus far - nor of aversion to her, but murderers were hardly safe people to be around, and this one's count was... impressive in all the wrong ways.
Three years wasn't much to convince him either, but it wasn't screaming literal murder at every scrap of rational sense he had. Seeing as how he wasn't covered in fur, he had a decent supply of rational sense at the moment.
He gave them some time to finish their spiels, although he already had his opinions. To the law enforcement woman, he made eye contact. "I still don't trust you," he said flatly, most of the emotion gone from his voice while he kept his reactions smothered.
Then he shifted his attention to the murderer, and didn't quite make eye contact. When he spoke, it was with a great deal of care and consideration. He was hardly inclined to insult someone like her to her face, especially with so little space to get out of range and go to ground.
"I appreciate your honesty," he said slowly. He had to... not give her the impression that he was agreeing with her, but not draw her irritation in any form. "But if you want an easy shot at an MRC badge, just get to the wallet first." He nodded back down the street, where the wallet still lay where he'd dropped it in his failed attempt at a diversion. Hey, maybe it'd work now. He wouldn't complain about that.
Maya knew most of Aura's record - not the numbers, but definitely the MO - but still, her jaw dropped as the pink mutant listed her kills and crimes. She was not entirely sure what Aura was hoping to accomplish with the guy by parading her deeds of violence, but from the look on his face, the mirrorwalked could tell she was basically doing her job for her.
>>"In the end it's up to you of course. You could just walk a way and do what you want. I would even be willing to provide cover should this lady decide to pursue you. I have collected a lot of badges over the years but never in MRC one. I try real hard not to kill mutants. I am a terrible person but an honest one"
Oh, because that would hold up great in court.
Maya threw up her hands at Aura's tirade. Sanctuary. Sure.
>> "I still don't trust you,"
"No one's asking you to."
>>"I appreciate your honesty... But if you want an easy shot at an MRC badge, just get to the wallet first."
"Take it" Maya rolled her eyes at Aura. Sam would have her *ss for losing a badge, but she knew Aura wouldn't care for it unless she could take it as loot off the dead body of an MRC member. Which was a distinct possibility.
"So there are your options" she sighed, letting her hands down "Mutant supremacist underground with our serial murderer here, or an actual school that won't ruin your future just by living there. Or you can walk away from both. God knows I'm not gonna chase you, and Aura here probably has someone else to disembowel later today. Not a mutant though, so that's fine, right?"
She shook her head at his offer with a smile. "No, the badge would mean nothing if i do not make the kill and i have little use of any cash that might be in the wallet. " she said. This had proven an interesting encounter and she could not help but think how this might have gone without her.
"I had considered visiting this one gang in queens actually, the ones near here are either to scared of me or to depleted in manpower to my worth it. Boring to, me and a friend took out over 300 gang members in under in hour a few months back. Dumb Humans, Their ambush was cute, one might almost think they were people" Aura said with a laugh. Aura viewed humans much like a hunter looked at deer, over populated.
True Sanctuary did house several serial killers and many more lesser criminals. The mansion however had it's issues as well. She decided to highlight the issues she was sure Mirrior had to know about. "Your mansion just hides it better. Frosty let me go twice before sending me to jail, although considering the damage of me getting broken out of prison maybe that was a wise move. Cafas broke into and helped kill human supremacists with me and one of my favorite partners Meld. Another of your number broke into sanctuary and kidnapped someone." she shot back even as she turned her head to look around. She needed to plan her exit from this area.
"That reminds me, i need to talk to frosty about Jaager Worldwide's owner. The Guy seems to think the solution to the mutant-human issue is to wipe us all out Human and Mutant alike. Frosty will know how to contact me, please relay my message.....and" she looked through her bag pulled out a some cash, counted out a few bills rolled them up and rubber banded them before tossing it to Adder.
"Good luck" she said almost positive the boy had decided another route from her own. It was fine and if he did follow her that was just better. Turning away from them she began to move, and a few alleys down she ducked into one more at home moving through them due to their cover then the streets.
Adder rolled his eyes. He'd stripped the money out of that wallet. What did they take him for? Clearly the murderer thought he cared about the difference between mutant and human, so at least she wasn't too bright. That made him safer... by a few degrees. Not enough for him to rest easy.
And then she tossed him enough cash to get him jumped and murdered a block away and left.
Having too much money was an awkward dilemma. It made him a target, and was extremely risky to have, but it allowed him to buy fresh food and upgrade his clothing. He tucked it into his pocket, but he could feel the swell of its weight and knew it was visible to anyone who cared to look.
He kept an eye on the not-cop while the murderer left, keeping an ear and his nose on both, and then shifted when he lost the murderer to distance and the city. "How did you get in front of me?" he asked shortly. He had seen the murderer's power, but he didn't know enough about this woman's. Running away from someone with movement-based powers didn't always turn out well without knowing the limitations of that power.
>> "No, the badge would mean nothing if i do not make the kill and i have little use of any cash that might be in the wallet. "
Maya rolled her eyes again. Just as she thought, Aura did not care for the badge. And even with all the snark, Maya doubted she'd kill her unless she had a good reason to. Aura had some messed-up sensibilities about mutants, women, and the X-men in general.

Maya was equal parts relieved that Aura was excusing herself from the situation, and bothered that she had things to say to Sam. Sam would make a deal with the Devil if it kept the Mansion safe, and when it came to Aura, she definitely qualified as the Devil. She made a mental note to relay the message anyway... but maybe without mentioning where the info came from. Better for everyone.
She watched the wolf-guy take the money and stare at it with concert before he tucked it away.
"Too much cash to have on the street huh" she smirked at him. Some things didn't change.
>>"How did you get in front of me?"
"I'm a mirrorwalker" she explained easily "I teleport through reflecting surfaces" she added, nodding towards the nearby window she had merged out of "But as I said, if you wanna leave, I'm not going to chase you."
Adder considered the not-cop levelly. She definitely had more sense than the murderer... but then, it didn't take much to do that. Her ability was more concerning than the vague assurance of her understanding, though, and his ears shifted backwards instinctively.
Teleporters.
Well, at least she wasn't an open-air teleport. He'd run into one of those before. Spectacular pain. Reflective things he could avoid; there were certainly few enough clean surfaces in the areas he frequented. Even if she did chase him, as she said she wouldn't, he had confidence that he could lose her.
Still, she'd been reasonably polite, given the circumstances, so he gave her a brief nod before melting away, ambling towards another street and leaving an open path between the not-cop and her wallet. He had no intention of backtracking towards it and forcing her to follow him, and leaving him to try to figure out if she were following him or just going for her belongings.
When he was out of sight and the money was securely tucked away, he took a moment to concentrate and dropped onto all fours. A gold-marked white wolf, grimy with the hard wear of the streets, padded across an intersection and on into the city. If the not-cop cared to look, she might even notice that his eyes never changed, but then he didn't give her much open attention as he moved onwards.
