With a possible new purpose in life, Jayden decided it was well past time she learn to truly master the use of her powers. It wasn't as if she didn't have a good handle on them and how they worked; she did. For well over a year it was through their their use that she had been able to live the life she now lived. With them, she was able to steal the money she needed for things like rent and food and come out of it relatively unscathed. So far, at least. A little luck probably played into that too.
Recent conversations with the young woman, Aura, had started to change her perspective on things. Maybe, just maybe, there was more to life than stealing to survive. Maybe there was more to life than hiding in the shadows and pretending to be merely human. Because she wasn't merely human, now was she? And she shouldn't have to be afraid to be seen for what she was: a mutant.
Tonight wasn't about being seen as a mutant, it was about not being seen at all. She found herself, in the early am hours, in an empty park. Warm black fur covered her body so the cold winter air could barely be felt. It was time to learn to do more than simply what was needed to survive, it was time to learn the limits of her gift. Hunting seemed like a good way to do that and as coyotes were known to be seen in this area, hunting one of those seemed like a good place to start. Black claws sprouted from her hands and she crouched next to a tree, waiting.
