The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"Hm? Oh, I'm just enjoying the moment, is all. Not all women are as impressive as you, if you don't mind me saying," he replied softly, still practically a permanent shade of pink. Then, she leaned in.
"Look, I don't want to be forward, I mean I'm not that kind of girl but..."
His face flushed red, and the reality of his predicament sunk in. Once they left the aura of the nearby adapted, his jig would be up. But they wouldn't be in the graces of this unknowing benefactor forever, so he would eventually have to face the music.
"Maybe," he said with a wink, trying to cover the awkwardness that was settling in as his face turned even redder. God he was seeming like such a virgin right now...
At that moment, the waitress came back with their meal, and he took another sip of his drink. Oh well, regardless of what were to happen, he should just enjoy the remainder of the date while he could. After all, time was definitely limited.
Impressive? She wanted to ask, but didn't want to make it seem like she was fishing for compliments. What the heck was so impressive? She'd found him, sat, and they'd hardly scratched the surface of impressive.
Meili sat back in her chair and thanked the waitress as she passed out the grub. At least, that was what she tried to do, instead Noel found herself stealing glances at her date. He'd winked at her. And he was flushed, hands fidgety.
Sure, her words could be construed as a sexual overture. She'd certainly thought the hint of it might help her, but then again, she could have just been hinting that she wanted to go elsewhere. Dancing or drinking or other things that she didn't actually do. But Meili would.
Why didn't she?
Noel would have to puzzle that out later.
"Jesus, I won't make you dance if it makes you that uncomfortable." She laughed it off and dug into her meal, careful to cut it directly in half and only consume her portion. It was still a novelty to be able to intentionally lie.
There were so many things he could have said to reply. The main thought being, if they went somewhere to dance, he wouldn't be the one uncomfortable. But, he didn't want to reveal too much too soon. Hell, he didn't want to reveal anything at all. If he had his way, they'd end the night, and both would still look like a pair of sexy humans. But...unless he found this adapted and found some way to make them tag along and be a third wheel so he and his secret would be safe...that wasn't going to happen. And that idea was creepy as hell.
He watched, amused as she divided the meal perfectly, and he ate it politely, enjoying the taste of something different. Even if he'd have to pay for it once he had his fishy-stomach back. But oh well, it was definitely worth it for things to be different for a change.
"I'd be willing to dance, if you're up for it. This just isn't something I do often, so my apologies for any unexpected scares or toe-stepping later on," he replied as smoothly as he could, sort of dropping the hint that all was not what it seemed, but at the same time remaining cryptic and sexy about it.
"Honestly, I do hope you find me suitable to call back once this date is over. It's been...quite refreshing. A relaxing break from the crazies I usually have to deal with." He gave a gentle nod.
Meili set her fork down, though the food wasn't all gone. She was doing a poor job of enticing this guy out of here. Was she trying too hard? Not hard enough? She had to care or at least pretend to care about Cale if this was going to happen. He had to trust her first so that she could then turn around and betray that trust. She hated herself all over again for agreeing to do this in the first place.
She ran though her thoughts to make sure it was all in line with Meili's actions before executing them. "Hey." She put her hand on top of his, more to get his attention than to hold him. He was still eating, afterall. "Look. Whatever happens tonight, you've been a real nice guy and I don't have any regrets about meeting you." No, only building apprehension about whether she would be able to finish her mission or not.
Noel smiled a bit shyly.
>"...A relaxing break from the crazies I usually have to deal with."
Ouch. No denying she was definitely going to be firmly seated in crazy after all this was over.
"Who are you usually dealing with that gives you so much trouble? Not the kids in your classes, right?" 'Please admit to being a child abuser or something.' Now that was actual murder inspiration.
"Hey. Look. Whatever happens tonight, you've been a real nice guy and I don't have any regrets about meeting you." He jumped slightly at the feel of her hand on his. Even touch was much different when he was human. His senses were weaker in this form, but the feel of her hand touching his sent little tingly goose-bumps up and down his arms.
He looked at her and smiled. "Thanks. I'm just...I don't know, I'm just really enjoying this, maybe more than I should, and I..." he sighed, looking away as his face again flushed beet red. "I don't want to do anything stupid to ruin it..." He sighed again, taking a sip of his drink and taking a few more bites of his food, leaving her a little bit if she wanted some more.
"Well, no, it isn't the kids in my class, though they can sometimes be a handfull. It's just...well, there are a lot of...disheartening people in this world. For the most part, my trouble has been in my search of someone. Most women have no interest in me as a person. No one really seems to...it just gets to me sometimes," he murmured as he suddenly felt a funny stinging feeling in his eyes. And something ran down his left cheek, which stunned him for a minute.
What was--oh right. He was starting to cry, something he couldn't do in his usual form. A hand reached up and wiped his eyes.
"Yeah, I know...I'm not being very masculine right now," he admitted. But what did it matter? If she left because he shed a tear, then she was just like the rest of them.
