Character
Personality: Leo is geeky, snarky, and very much a child of the internet. He’s a tech wonder, not because of any mutation, but because he was raised in a coding culture. He’s one of those rare morning people who wakes up happy and has to keep moving and doing things all day long. He’s incredibly interested in learning and pushing boundaries. He can be socially awkward at times because he is not the most observant inter-personally. Hobbies/ Interests: Technology, special bird watching, photography, urban exploration Job or part time job and description: Leo is one of the founding Administrators of the popular forum called Audobon X. He earns a small profit, but it is a full time job's worth of work.
Fears/ phobias/ concerns: Getting personally mauled by a mutant, getting arrested for poking his nose where he shouldn’t, mutant catastrophes
Special talents: If it’s a gadget, he probably can figure out how to work it. He’s less savvy with mechanical things like cars, but he’s got enough know how to get himself in trouble.
Morality
Good/ bad/ neutral/ other: Small infractions like speeding or trespassing aside, Leo abides by the laws of the land.
Mutations
Mutation description: None. Leo is, despite his wishes and best efforts, 100% human.
Physical Abilities
General Physical Capabilities: He’s got a national heritage of futbol (soccer) love to live up to. Leo likes to play and run as his hobbies. Running is his favorite way to expend his extra energy. Within normal human levels, endurance is his strongest attribute followed by strength, speed, and those attributes are trailed pathetically by flexibility and reflexes.
Fighting Style: Leo was trained from a young age by his sisters in the manly art of crying like a baby and begging for his life.
Fighting Style Pros/Cons: Scary people often think he’s not worth killing because he’s so pathetic.
History Of Your Character
Leo was born the youngest of 5 children in the De Valdenebro family.
His father develops software for hospital timekeeping systems and despite living in the 21st century believes that women are most beautiful when barefoot, pregnant, and/or cooking. He tried to encourage each of his children to find a trade to grow into and love. Leo's mother works as a rehab assistant at the VA. Both parents raised their children with focus on hard work and Christian principles.
As the youngest, Leo learned at a young age to eat his french fries first lest they be pilfered and that with 3 older sisters he had at least 4 mothers. He has one brother, born second, but there is enough of an age gap that they never really played together. Leo was coerced into playing house and dress up enough times that he eventually learned that it was best for him to blaze his own trail.
Other than losing one of his grandfathers to colon cancer, Leo has not experienced a lot of loss in his life.
His first personal experience with a mutant happened at a young age. He saw a man get run over at a gas station. The man simply got up, twisted his head back around until it faced the right way again, and started to administer aid to the man who had hit him. To say that moment affected Leo is an understatement.
He went home and hit google looking for any information, any videoes, anything he could access on mutants and mutations. All the reports were shaky, conjecture, and nothing was organized. Frustrated by the lack of credible sides, Leo set out to make his own resource which eventually became Audobon X.
Roleplay
Where did you learn about this site?: google Do you have any other characters on MRO, if so who: Ghost, Lori, Noel, and Jude
Sample RP: “Why would you want to leave New Rochelle’s public school system in favor of a private boarding school in New York?” New Rochelle High is diverse in its college prep and honors offerings. Wikipedia here even says they won some kind of Blue Ribbon award. Seven times. You just can’t beat that kind of tax supplied education.”
“Is this Sister School accredited? Are you even thinking of your future, Leo or is this about your silly online friends?”
He knew it was going to be a tough sell, so Leo’d come prepared. “Ma. I am thinking of the future. More than just mine, the future of the whole world! If we don’t get some kind of understanding with the mutants going, they’re not going to want to keep us around.”
He ignored the dig at his online hobby. First, because it wasn’t silly. It was freaking awesome and gaining traction. Second, because maybe on some level it was about Audobon X. He was fascinated with mutants and mutant culture, but THAT was a losing argument here.
“Pibe, escucha me,” she started kindly, but Leo wasn’t about to be bullied OR babied out of this.
“No, mom, you listen. Just because nobody else is brave enough to do this, doesn’t mean it doesn’t have to be done. I can’t sit by and let the mutants lose touch with humanity. This school accepts humans and mutants. They’re the good guys, ma. It’s not enough to just wave hello on the street. We need to integrate, grow up together, get detention together—”
Papa De Valdenebro snorted. “At least he’s honest, ‘Seula.”
Mom was the hard sell here. Dad had always been more easy going. She looked at him for a long time, searching his eyes for… what? Earnestness? He had that in spades. This was something he could believe in.
“You are going to make a fearsome politician some day, my baby boy.”
"I still have to get accepted and qualify for scholarship. Besides, I'm sure I can come home for Sunday dinners."
"You'd better!" She whacked Leo over just the thought of missing even one pot roast.
