Mutations

Mutation description: Energy absorption and redirection

Deathstar has the ability to absorb any physical or energy based attacks, store it in her body, convert it to energy and re-channel it as a concussive blast back to her opponent.

Strengths: Deathstar can withstand any oncoming attacks with minimal damage to herself while she is absorbing. The power level of her blasts solely depends on the power level of her opponents attack. For example, If someone attacks Deathstar with every ounce of their ability, she can cause massive damage when she redirects that energy into her concussive blasts; She can level a few buildings with heighten power levels. Deathstar can also store energy for later use and she can absorb and store energy from many different foes at one time; also, she can redirect her blast to mulitple enemies.

Weaknesses and Limitations: Even though Deathstar can absorb a lot energy, she can only store a certain amount energy. Storing a substantial amount of energy in her body can have dire consequences such as falling unconscious, comatose or even death. Deathstar can only store energy in her body within 2 hours, if she doesn't release this power, it will cause serious harm to her internal organs depending on the amount of energy stored inside. She can only use this ability when there is a conscious effort.

Deathstar can only absorb energy from her peripheral vision and her foe has to be no longer than 25 feet away. Everytime Deathstar uses her power, she loses a little bit of stamina and she can only release her blasts from her feet and hands. Deathstar can only absorb energy from physical and energy based attacks, she cannot absorb anything from psychic or mental attacks.

History Of Your Character:

Layla Syn was born into a middle class traditional family in Brooklyn, New York in 1991. Her father, who was mortgage broker,worked hard to provide Layla and her younger sister Aelly with a life that was denied to him when he was a child. Being the oldest sibling, Layla made sure to make her parents proud and set a good example for her sister, in fact, she admired Aelly a lot, but that would soon change. As time went on, Layla's demeanor and personality took a huge shift. She was no longer the "Ms. Perfect Patty" of the family, but now a Gothic chic with no aspirations or goals. In high school, Layla's admiration for her sister soon transformed into jealousy. Aelly was this pretty girl who was popular with everyone at school and while Layla was just...Layla. In the midst of her shift, Layla would purposely skip school to hang out with her emo gang, disobey authority, and commit petty crimes just for the attention of her parents she always yearned, but that didn't sit well with her younger sister, who often craved for the spotlight.

One night, while out with her friends, Layla discovered her mutant abilities in the most the tragic fashion. She was caught red-handed stealing a wad of cash out of a register from a local clothing boutique and was soon caught by law enforcement along with her friends. She begged and pleaded with the officer to let her go with a slap on the wrist but this officer was too familiar with Layla's body of work. He proceeded to cuff her but she resisted by tussling and wrestling with the officer to the ground until she noticed something strange; His face was turning blue as if every ounce of life was being drained out of him. She could feel his strength and life entering her body. Before Layla knew what was happening, the rookie officer quietly lay silent and lifeless on the cracked pavement in the parking lot exhaling his last breathes. She quickly learned she had the power to absorb human life-force and that she is now a mutant. Layla was shocked and horrified, but her friends were delighted, they were free and they thanked her by naming her "Deathstar".

When Deathstar returned home, she told her sister Aelly about new found her mutant powers and the whole ordeal with the departed officer. She soon asked Aelly for her advice and this is where things turned for the worst. Aelly comforted her distraught sister DeathStar and revealed her mutant ability as well, but Aelly had other plans. Due to Deathstar getting much needed attention from her parents for their rebellious daughter, Aelly made the decision that they had to go...forever.

With aid of her pheromone ability, Aelly convinced Deathstar to kill their parents. Aelly relayed to Deathstar that if their parents found out about their mutant abilities, they would be sent away. Now under the control of her sister, Deathstar did the unthinkable, she killed her parents in the most horrific way possible. When the pheromone dust faded away, Deathstar quickly came to terms with what she has done and immediately attacked her sister, who will now be known as "Syn".

Syn somehow escaped leaving Deathstar in the wake of her own destruction. Before Deathstar can come to terms with what she did, she followed suit of her sister and ran away. While on the streets, Deathstar heard of a place called "The Mansion", it was some kind of safe haven for mutants. She wanted to leave the past behind and decided to go, and that's where she met the X-Men. She soon joined her new found family ridding the world of evil and protecting the weak, as so she thought. During her time at the mansion, Deathstar was constantly haunted by her past. Her hated for her sister soon consumed everything in her life and to top it off, she finds out she has an older brother "Abyss". With all the family secrets sprouting about, Deathstar made the selfish decision to leave the mansion, attain a new identity and live life as a normal human being. She sought out a mysterious man who was known to have the "cure" to rid her body of the X-gene and she would soon admit her body for the extraction.

Deathstar soon found out this mysterious man was nothing but a fraud, he was a mental patient who escape the crazy house and set-up shop to cure mutants. This so called cure worked for a while, she was now a human with no attachment to the X-Men, her past and her family, but that would change as well. Even though this sham of a serum dismantled one of her abilities, it intensified the other and Deathstar saw this as a sign. She cannot escape her past, but she must confront it. She made the constant decision to move back to her real home at the mansion, and start off new again, but in order to do that, she would have to clean up her dark past.

Sample RP:

On one hot day in Central Park, Deathstar decides to take a stroll outside in record breaking heat. She is accompanied by her new found friend and dog "Lilo", but she noticed something funny. "Where is everybody?" she asks to herself, wearing a Def Leppard t-shirt, ripped shorts and a pair of black chucks, she walks to the center of the park to confirm her observation. She places her folded palm upon her forehead to block the blinding light of the sun as she gazes around the park for any sign of human life.

"I know it's hot but..." she says before Lilo barks violently at something brussiling behind a patch of bushes 10 feet away. "Shut up!" she yells at her furry companion, "it's probably just a squirrel", Lilo unwillingly retreats behind her master. Deathstar pats her yorkie between the ears and pulls her leash gesturing her to walk before an unknown voice speaks out to them.

"A squirrel you say?, how about dad?" Deathstar quickly gets on guard, "Who said that?", she asks out loud in the open green space while she picks up Lilo and presses the pup against her chest. "Who's there?", Deathstar shuffles her feet looking around for any sign of movement and the voice speaks out to her again.

"You have grown to be a beautiful young lady, can't say the same about your sister", says the voice. This time she recognizes it, and begins to pant from anticipation. "It can't be!" she speaks out to the voice, hoping he will reveal himself. "Look!, if you want trouble, you are barking the wrong tree pal" Deathstar is frantic at this point. She’s inside a national park with no sign of any humans nearby.

"No dear!, I don't want trouble, I just want you" the anonymous voice finally reveals himself and to Deathstar's surprise, it's her father. "Dad!" Deathstars says as she rushes over to meet the man she killed years ago, but reality hits and she is stopped instantly in her tracks. He looks the exact same way when she killed him, and it was then she knew it wasn't him. "You're dead!, I killed you remember?" tears began to draw lines of sorrow on her face and she screams at this unknown anomaly who is playing a cruel on her mind.

"No!, you didn't kill me, but I'm about to kill you" the man says followed by a sinister laugh, Deathstar frantically tries to turn and run away, but the apparition magically appears in front of her.

"Why are you doing this? Who are you?" She asks the strange guy trying to establish some sort of contact with him.

The guy smiles and says, "I'm you"
