The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

The whole thing was too much to handle alone. Mirror was not happy that they had to get Sam involved - there were still some memories of hard feelings about him not getting them involved last time sh*t hit the fan - but it was also dangerous to continue without him. Suddenly, things involved a lot more than his/her girlfriend's parents not liking him/her. Now it was politics. Mirror hated politics.
Gawain set up a meeting for late in the evening, to make it was unnoticed as possible. He waited in Sam's office for Evelyn and Sam to show. He knew that Mother was already outside somewhere, waiting to make an appearance once Sam agreed it was okay. Hopefully this wouldn't turn into a fight over an assassin entering the Mansion unnoticed.
He sat back on the chair with a sigh. It was time to come clean, and make some plans that made sense. Halfway, at least.
Evelyn was rethinking the idea to involve Sam, and it took extra effort to keep walking down the hallway. Sure, there was the whole assassination threat, but these were her parents causing the problems, and it felt kind of like asking someone else to come and clean your bathroom or something. Why should someone else deal with this sort of mess? And why Sam? She was still ticked at him, but she was keeping her echoes to herself at least.
No damaging people's brains with playbacks. No damaging peoples brains with playbacks. No damaging anyone with freaky voices in your head.
"Are you sure we need to do this?" Evelyn sighed as she approached Mirror. She kept her hands to herself for now. She wasn't entirely sure her thoughts were in check, and her nerves made it feel like the echoes could invade whoever's head they wanted.

It was late meaning it was well past beer o’clock which meant was Sam had already knocked at least three back and he was just starting number four. He took a sip and walked down to his office wondering why Gawain had set a meeting there this late. Sam figured he’d get his answers soon though so he just hummed to himself as he walked down the hall.
Once he entered the hallway to his office his thermal senses picked up to figures in the room. One male one female. Gawain and Eve, which Sam found just as odd as a meeting called by Gawain. Both had still been upset with him at least to his knowledge. Sam had half a mind to turn around and walk away but then it was them and the first sip of his fourth beer urged him to continue. Sam also happened to miss them both, even if he’d never admit it.
Opening the door and sipping his beer Sam made eye contact with Gawain first then Eve. He tired to study them a bit knowing it would never be anywhere near as detailed as Eve’s. ”Yo.” Sam said with a wave after a second hoping to prevent any awkwardness or guilt. Those two seemed to run hand in hand for Sam lately. ”Why so formal and call a meeting?” Sam asked still trying not to think that both were potentially still upset with him.
Gawain could tell Evelyn was nervous, and his arm moved on its own to wrap around her shoulders; but he noticed the tension in her posture, and realized she was probably trying to keep her powers from acting up. Pulling his hand back he folded his arms.
"Nope" he admitted "But we're doing it anyway. More eyes, maybe we come up with a better solution."
Or get kicked off the team.
As if on cue, Sam walked in with a beer.
>>”Yo. Why so formal and call a meeting?”
"Because this is off the record" Gawain answered, sensing the irony in that sentence "There's... uh, a serious issue, and we didn't want to go into it without you knowing. Also, we might need your help."
Not a very bright start. Gawain took a deep breath.
Thankfully, Gawain didn't touch her, and Evelyn was wishing she wore long sleeves. The contact would be reassuring, but she really hated how contagious her powers seemed to be when she was nervous. As Sam walked in, she tried to clear her thoughts. The echoes were already reading way too much into him. Something about drinking, something about surprise...Tune it out...
'There's...uh, a serious issue, and we didn't want to go into it without you knowing.'
Yeah, her parents were the serious issue. Her cheeks started to color slightly in something between frustration and humiliation. Gosh, how terrible was it they had to go all covert ops because her parents decided to kill her boyfriend?
Then the echoes started informing her on other serious issues her and Gawain could possibly call a meeting about and why she'd be embarrassed about it, and she wished Gawain would just spit it out before she became even more mortified.

Sam sipped his beer and then raised his lone eyebrow at Gawain as he said it was off record. This brought a smile to Sam’s face, it meant Gawain was no longer upset with him or worse this was about to be something pretty serious. With Eve here Sam could only guess it involved her as well. Hoping these two didn’t kill anyone Sam took another sip. ”You might need my help, but you wanted me to know about whatever this is.” Sam waved his hand in a circle as he was trying to get Gawain to elaborate a bit more.
”Safe to assume this is pretty serious then and if it involves your mother…” Sam didn’t recall much about Gawain’s mother. He had never met her nor did he recall them going into detail about her. Family members Sam wouldn’t have dived into talking about mainly because he didn’t recall his mother or father that much. Siblings he could talk about though. He did have Dom who he hadn’t talked to in a year or two.
”So….” Sam looked to Eve whose face was slightly redder than usual, both in his normal vision and his sixth sense. ”Your mother coming to town?” Sam asked curiously as he took another sip. ”You want me to show her a few sights around the city?” he doubted this was what was so serious but he figured it would get one of them to blurt out what was going on. ”Well, out with it.” Sam said giving another hand gesture to move the conversation on.

"Uh... my mother is in town" Gawain said, glancing towards the window for a split second before he took a deep breath and decided to just get the conversation over with "She is here to kill me. Well, no, she's not going to, but she was contracted to kill me. By Eve's parents."
He glanced at Eve, wanting to hold her hand or something, but that was probably not a great idea right now. Moving on, then.
"I... managed to piss her parents off. And now they blame me for... their daughter not being with them. And being a mutant, and a half lesbian, and... well, all of those. So they put a hit on me, except, no one knew that the assassin they hired is my mother. So. Small miracles, right?" he added with a half smile "Sooo... yeah."

"She is here to kill me. Well, no, she's not going to, but she was contracted to kill me. By Eve's parents."
Evelyn's brain buzzed with the information overload. She forced herself to breathe, shutting the echoes into a little corner where she could still hear the conversation. If this were a mission she couldn't loose her cool, and she shouldn't loose it now. She was not responsible for their ridiculous behavior. This wasn't her fault.
Okay, the assassin part may have been. Using credit cards to pay for those things apparently had drawbacks.
"My parents aren't great at letting things go," Evelyn sighed, realizing her input was probably useful. She knew these people best [unfortunately] after all. "And right now, the only feasible way I can think of to get them to back off is to, well, find some dirt worthy of their silence." Blackmail. Totally legitimate good guy behavior.

Sam didn’t couldn’t understand why the two were making this more difficult than it had to be until he heard what was going on. ”Ah…Yeah…” Sam said with a awkward shrug looking from Gawain to Eve. The room got a little colder when he found out someone put a hit out on Gawain. He was the closest thing Sam had to family other than a few other X-Men here. Gawain was more of a brother/sister than his own brother. The thought of someone putting a hit out him… he could see it but it didn’t mean he liked it.
”And your mother…” Sam rolled his eye, ”Yeah… Miracles.” Sam still wasn’t sure what to make of this. It was definitely the first time he had to deal with any of this. ”So. Your mother is an assassin? Might have been useful information to know. How long has she been one and what name does she go by?” There was a chance Sam might have heard of her from back in the day if she was any good if he hadn’t heard of her he might need to come up with a plan to deal with her if she ends up changing her mind. ”We are sure your mom won’t carry the contract out?” Sam asked walking closer to Gawain.
Sam then looked to Eve, ”A trait you seem to share.” he was still upset she forced him to feel everything she had felt when she thought he was dead. He was upset but he was over it at least he understood why she did it. ”And not kill them.” Sam said as if that needed to be said. Because it could have been easier than finding dirt. ”Blackmail isn’t normally my thing.” Sam rubbed the back of his head as he leaned up on his desk and took a sip of his beer giving him a moment to think.
”So if they are willing to put a hit out on their daughters boyfriend/girlfriend safe to assume they aren’t the most upstanding people?” Sam said hoping not to offend Eve. Eve seemed too good to be brought up by parents that would do something like that but it was possible she was just a black sheep. ”So… you want protection or are you asking me to dig up some dirt on your parents?” Sam asked curiously.
>>”And your mother… Yeah… Miracles. So. Your mother is an assassin? Might have been useful information to know. How long has she been one and what name does she go by? We are sure your mom won’t carry the contract out?”
"She's been with them since I was thirteen" Gawain said shortly "And yes, we are sure."
The question had to be ask, but that did not mean Mirror had to like it. He knew Sam had history with assassins, and therefore he had the expertise... but he did not know Mom. Evelyn still seemed nervous. There was definitely leftover tension in the air.
>>"My parents aren't great at letting things go. And right now, the only feasible way I can think of to get them to back off is to, well, find some dirt worthy of their silence."
>>”A trait you seem to share. And not kill them. Blackmail isn’t normally my thing... So if they are willing to put a hit out on their daughters boyfriend/girlfriend safe to assume they aren’t the most upstanding people? So… you want protection or are you asking me to dig up some dirt on your parents?”
"We are letting you know what's going on" Gawain supplied "If dirt does come up, chances are it is going to be the kind that concerns both the X's and the MRC, so we wanted to keep you in the loop about it. I mean, if you wanna help... that would be nice too. Also... uh."
A shadow appeared in the office window, pushing the pane open and slipping inside. Jillian Morris was wearing a simple black outfit, and standing in a way that would have looked relaxed to an outsider.
Evelyn was momentarily disturbed by the mental hesitation she had to that statement. After all the grief her parents caused, it tested her morality levels. Emotions bubbled inside her, and it took effort to push them back down. "Yeah, I'm thinking avoiding anyone getting killed her is idea..."
Not the most upstanding people...
"Not really, no. I'm not sure where they're going to stop at this point."
I mean, if you wanna help... that would be nice too.
Evelyn fidgeted and watched as Jillian appeared. This all felt like such a circus and it was her family causing it.

Gawain’s response still didn’t help Sam at first. So the better part of the mirror walker’s life his mother had been an assassin. Meaning she had a few years on Sam and those were only the years Gawain knew about. ”If you’re sure that makes things a little less complicated.” Sam said thinking a bit on it.
The window slide open and the second he heard the noise Sam turned to the window. The air got significantly colder until Gawain introduced his mother. An assassin who happened to be in his home. Sam’s lip twitched and he controlled the temperature to raise a little, enough to show he was still on guard. Even if it was Gawain’s mother, who was hot. ”Of course you’re an assassin, all the beautiful ones are.”
Sam smirked and walked cautiously over to her and offered his hand. ”Mom or do you have another name?” Sam asked hoping he could get a little more information out of her. Names given to shadows and assassins usually revealed more information.
Sam sighed slightly and scratched the back of his head, ”Well if it involves my people.” Sam said people but he knew the two knew what he meant family. Sam looked to Eve and could tell she was having a hard time with all of this. His hand iced over slightly around his palm and fingers he touched Eve’s shoulder gently giving her a reassuring pat hoping his ice wouldn’t allow her her powers to affect him.
”I’ll help you guys but, I’d like to keep it out of MRC and the X’s line of sight. Alright?” Sam said before turning back to the desk and his beer. Taking a swig he offered some to Gawain’s mother before asking. ”So any ideas?”
>>"Yeah, I'm thinking avoiding anyone getting killed her is idea... Not really, no. I'm not sure where they're going to stop at this point."
Gawain sighed. He wished he could hold Eve; he would make sure to try to help her deal with the stress later. It was not easy, having the kind of family she had.
Mom made an appearance, and took Sam in with a sharp look. The X-leader cooled the room down, but at least he didn't attack her.
>>”Of course you’re an assassin, all the beautiful ones are.”
"I bet you say that to all the assassins" Jillian smirk. Gawain groaned quietly in the background. Watching Sam hit on his mother was not on his list of top favorite things. Even if he kind of saw it coming.
>>”Mom or do you have another name?”
"Jillian" she answered, shaking his hand. She was willing to accept the man's help, might as well give him her real name. Sam seemed to be okay with all that, and he even patted Eve on the shoulder carefully.
>>”I’ll help you guys but, I’d like to keep it out of MRC and the X’s line of sight. Alright? So any ideas?”
"Thanks" Gawain said, nodding to him; Jillian declined the beer with a shake of her head.
"We were thinking about looking into their financials" he said, hesitantly, glancing at Eve "I'm pretty sure they got tons of stuff to hide, if they would hire an assassin at the drop of a hat. I mean seriously, I barely..." he cleared his throat "... nevermind."
