The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Tses was a night owl, although it was for more than just personal reasons. With her powers linked to the moonlight, a healthy dose of night time rays always got her blood flowing. Plus, as a thief, she liked to make use of the cover of darkness.
Slipping in and out of apartments while the occupants were oblivious helped avoid all that unwanted gunfire and 911 calls. She had been shot enough to decide she preferred ...to not be shot. Then again, that whole side arm in the bedside table could throw you for a loop. That particular night, she had a slight close call, but nothing she couldn't handle. Evade, escape, and a moonlight prance along a rooftop. It was a fun evening so far.
She was just in the middle of a burg---an acquisition, however, when things took an unexpected turn. Instead of leaving the apartment with her prizes, she found herself outside, on a ...rock? And the world felt a lot smaller.
An awful lot smaller.
Blinker her eyes, she shook her head, feeling disoriented by the shift. Every movement made her dizzy, like a carnival ride jerking from side to side at an unnatural rate. She shifted, claws scraping against the rock. She blinked and leaned closer.
Well, those were new. She snorted and stood up, trying not to wobble. Stretching, she assessed the situation.
She had claws. And a tail, and she was fairly certain there was something scaly about her skin. She teetered somewhere between panic, and that devious mischief that all too often got her into trouble.
Where she was, or whoever she was, or whatever she was, and why...she was big. And there was a small voice in her head wanting to learn more about this different body.
Ryoga didn't really need to sleep, but he was so sluggish at night he preferred the embrace of slumber, awaiting the warmth of the Sun to stir him back to life each morning. But this night was different, the dragon suddenly stirred awake, his instincts sensing something amiss, his eyes looking up. "Nani?..!?" Ryoga tried to question before his confusion exploded exponentially. His voice, it was entirely wrong...that was a woman's voice, his body felt small, weak, then non-existentas he suddenly shattered into a nebula of light, his form fading to nothing as he fell right through the couch he'd been sleeping on. Wait...he? His voice, it had been a woman's and now he was nothing but a shimmer? Just what the heck was happening? The God flailed helplessly as he tried to roll or stand, his thoughts of movement all for not as he faded in and out, switching between girl and photon before finally fading back in just in time to smack into a wall.
Ryoga fell back onto his rear, the cushion of a buttocks beyond anything the dragon could remember. "Itai!...itai?" That...had hurt? Nothing had hurt Ryoga since his encounter with that horrid bone creature Isabel, and before that he'd not known pain since childhood. How could a flimsy wooden wall hurt a God? Something was entirely wrong about the world suddenly? How had Ryoga gotten here, inside a house? Why was he so small, wait, small!? Ryoga suddenly reached down to touch his chest...! Blood began to pool in the dragon's cheeks as he felt something he'd never felt before, he jolted up off the floor and began to stumble around the house. He was in some upscale living room, but there had to be a bathroom somewhere, a mirror, his kingdom for a mirror!
He stumbled out of the room into a hallway, turning to open a door and check out what was inside before he suddenly fell through the door, his body evaporated once more before he was able to look up and see the mirror on the wall. Nothing looked back at him, it was all just a glow of light unlike any he'd ever seen. "Ittai nani!?" He tried to gasp before his body suddenly reformed, a frail scared girl staring into a mirror. Who the heck was that? Why was Ryoga staring at some human woman!? He stood up...she stood up? He reached forward towards the mirror, and she did in turn? Everything he tried to do, she did, was he dreaming? Was he suddenly this girl? A woman of all things!? His cheeks were reddened a bit, as he reached up to touch his face. But what he felt was the slender hand of a girl caressing her own skin, scarred but far smoother than the flesh he once knew. No scales, just warmth.
Her eyes widened a bit as his hand slid down further, once more confirming the womanhood of Tses Isiksenn, her own fingers giving herself a little squeeze before the dragon's knew face blew up red enough for steam to come out of his own ears. He'd never touched, or even thought of touching a woman's body, let alone feeling that very touch as he did it. The sheer embarrassment of all of this, coupled with the confusion blew a fuse as he/she screamed out, energy gushing into her hand as she slammed it against the glass, an explosion shattering the glass and flinging Ryoga back against the door. The pain rushed throughout his form but he couldn't care less. He'd lost his mind somehow, some other mutant plot to control or manipulate him like last time. He had to find someone, anyone to fix it! He was no mere woman!
Ryoga stood up, his body screaming in pain and confusion, but Tses was strong, and Ryoga's will was like iron. Even if he was bewildered beyond compare, a God wouldn't be stopped. He grasped the handle and opened the dented door, walking out of the house Tses had intended to rob and feeling the chill of the night on her flesh. He'd not worn clothes in a long time considering his size, but even now in a form covered in cloth the cold felt so much more powerful. How miserable was human existance? "I will know who did this!" He shouted into the air as he ran off into the night, his first goal to try and find his bearing, just where the heck was he!?
The initial sensation of being a dragon wore off quicker than Tses expected. Maybe it was because it was night, and she felt unbelievably tired all of the sudden. She never really felt tired at night, since the whole moon and powers side of her really liked nighttime. But then there were the little things. You know, being a dragon that couldn't fly.
"What kind of lame dragon am I?" She grumbled to herself. She scratched at the ground with a claw and tried to sit back. It was hard to sit as a dragon though too. She felt like an awkward prairie dog trying to look around.
Nope, not ferocious at all.
At least she sort of recognized where she was. The mansion was a temporary home for her once upon a time, and while she hadn't gotten along with the residents, the free food and boarding was sort of worth the exchange. After a moments consideration, she started for the building, quickly reverting to a more dragon-like run. Reaching the kitchen, she sniffed at the window and tried to push it open with her hand.
Window broke. Not cleaning that up. But look, cookies!
Walking along alone at night might scare most women, but Tses was a tougher girl than most, especially when her body was being run by the mind of a God. Ryoga found his hands often trying to hold himself as he walked, the chill of the night bothering him more than it ever had. Each time his hands met his body though, he sort of jumped and put them back to his sides, this frail woman's form coupled with loose clothing was bothering him in a way he'd never experienced before.
"Mattaku bakage." (How ridiculous)
Ryoga mumbled to him/herself as he headed towards the one real location he knew here in New York, the Mansion. Were humans literally always this miserable? His usual form easily dominated everything, including the elements themselves, but as a human he couldn't stop noticing the ambient temperature, or worse, that odd sensation in his gut. Was he hungry? No...no this might be something worse.
He shook the redness from his cheeks as he neared the Mansion, looking at the large compound from a distance. It looked so...big now. He shook his head once more, and came up to the gate. Tses's voice lacked all of the authority or power that Ryoga's did, but he made sure to put some force into the girl's vocal chords. "Open this gate, right now please!" He shouted, the addition of please both an odd thing for a demand, as well as Tses of all people. Oh right, it was like two in the morning or something wasn't it? Why did he feel so...awake? Ryoga was always sluggish beneath the moon, it's light tasted so odd and had no warmth to it like that of the sun. Wait...he couldn't feel the light like he could, but he still felt...something. He paused from his shouting at the gate to look down at his hand once more...no her hand, whoever this girl was. He clenched the slender fingers, there was none of the power his old body had, but these were human fingers, something he'd lacked basically his entire life. His wings did not have the same digits, but more than that, he felt a power within her body as well. Somehow...similar to his own? Maybe that was why he woke up in this body? Some sort of mutant trickery or a curse?
No time to discern the nature of her ability at the moment, he needed to find HIS body. He felt the irritation rising, then he heard a smashing sound. His eyes darted open in surprise before he knew he had to get in here before someone ruined his standing with the mansion, or worse, ruined his magnificent form! He fumbled with the intercom for a moment, buzzing frantically for anyone to respond. Finally someone buzzed back, one of the local mutants or staff members asking who it was at such an hour. "Quickly! Open the gates and let me inside! I am Orochi, a God demands you let him in!" He said frantically, the high pitch of Tses's voice clearly giving away that he was in no way the massive lizard the mansion had been hosting for months now. "Yeah right, I can hear a girl's voice ya know, who is this? Oh hell someone just smashed the windows!..." The person ran off, and left Ryoga fuming at the gate.
He sighed audibly, before he remembered this body's power. He'd made some sort of explosion earlier, perhaps he could blow open the gate? Ugh but damaging his host's property was not the proper behavior of an honorable guest, especially a foreign God. But what about that other thing? He'd like phased into some sort of light earlier, could he do that now? He grasped the cold iron of the bars and stared beyond, looking at the Mansion as various lights flared on in response to whomever had broken the windows and wall earlier. He took a breath and spoke. "Alright, come on girl, just do as I wish." He tried thinking about various things, turning into light, turning invisible, but it seemed to not be working. "Come on! Do it!" He stamped her foot down, and then suddenly fell forward as his grip on the bars phased, his form shifted to moonlight as he passed through the gate and was standing on the cold pavement of the Mansion's driveway.
"Yatta!!" He said, laughing to himself at the successful use of a foreign power.
Within the grounds of the Mansion now, Ryoga sprinted off towards his Shrine, a large portion of the grounds conceded to him because of his size and perosnality, only to see exactly what he didn't want to see, himself standing there, looking undignified and eating something. God's didn't need to eat! He caught his breath and then spoke, as loud as Tses's frail little voice box could for his liking.
"Bakayarō! Stop your foolishness and return my form to me, Right now!" (Moron!)
The oddity of Tses's small form shouting up at herself now, and speaking poorly pronounced Japanese mixed with English might just be enough to stir the dragon-jacked girl from her cookie binge.
Tses couldn't remember a time when she tasted a cookie so disgusting. The tiny golden snacks dissolved into powdery nothingness in her jaws, and her teeth seemed to mash everything to pieces. She was fairly certain she chewed on a fork somewhere in the effort to retrieve another chocolate chip. At least, she hoped it was a chocolate chip. She wasn't really sure what she was smelling, the kitchen sort of became a blob from this size.
Tses couldn't taste anything. Not the cookies, not the pizza in the refrigerator. There was something lingering in the back of her throat, but that had been there since she took over this body. She could almost taste something, but it was distant, light...airy... It reminded her a little of the way her body typically absorbed sunlight. There was something nurturing in that sensation, but it was muted, dull. Dull like the sun blocking the moon from her. Dull... but almost appetizing. It did taste better than a cookie. Maybe she should try going after that instead. The thought momentarily distracted her, before a rather tiny voice interrupted her thoughts.
She turned her giant head, and blinked as she stared at a pintsized blond girl shrieking from the ground. Tses leaned closer, and snorted at the figure. It looked familiar. She recognized that hair. Although...it was usually on her head.
She considered the request, rested her wings against her side and then spat a cookie at the person. "No." She was a dragon. Tiny squeaky girls didn't scare her.
Maybe there was something better deeper in the mansion. She nosed her way further into the kitchen and the window gave a creak as she broke it even more.
Ryoga's borrowed eyes pulled as open as they could in frustration as he watched his form of all things, his majestic visage rudely snort a single word and spit nasty food at someone, HIMSELF of all things. The steam vented from his ears as he wiped the slick piece of cooking from his face and flung it to the ground. Never had he been so insulted in his life, even that bone witch had more manners then this, and she was a psychotic demon wearing the flesh of a woman.
"How...how DARE you spit on me! I am a GOD you fool! And you dare steal my form? Is this body yours? Are you this sickening female creature?" He spit heinous venom back at the girl in response to her lack of manners. Ryoga might be the most self centered smug creature on the Earth, but he'd die before he'd let anyone disrespect him in turn! Gods had the right to look down on others, and this woman was no God, even if she wore one this night.
The thief continued to press her way inside the building, racking up more damage in a fruitless search he was sure. "Stop, stop it I said! There's no point in wrecking the building!" What the heck was this person even doing? Just destroying things with his body for the fun of it? No...there had to be some reason, just like he had urges he'd not been used to, perhaps the swap had left his natural instincts with a mind that didn't understand them.
He took a breath and stepped forward, showing no fear against his own imposing form as Tses continued to root around in the kitchen like a pig sniffing for truffles. "You will find nothing in that room to wake your body thief. I do not eat mortal food." He stand forcefully, assuming whoever it was felt hungry. "And cramming anymore junk down MY throat is disgusting! Now I demand that you explain yourself!"
Tses's small form acting so smug might not be entirely out of character for her, but the odd way of speaking and little bits of polite speech intermixed with demands might strike anyone else as entirely impossible.
Tses's ear twitched slightly as her unusually tiny self continued to yell. Something about not eating mortal food and being a god. She spat out another cookie and moved her head back to look at the angry woman. Wow, is this what she looked like yelling at Forte? No wonder she got her butt kicked so often. Speaking of that Forte guy...did this dragon body come with fire breathe? That would be useful. Maybe she could just step on him...
"I am not a thief. At least, not at this moment." She crawled back through the window and sat back on her haunches, glaring at the figure. She considered swatting at it with one of her claws, but she had no idea what the consequences would be of hitting yourself. When you're a mutant, damaging ones body, even when it's yelling at you, is usually a bad idea. Even Tses knew that.
"And I have nothing to explain to you. If you're you, and apparently owner of this body, you are currently, apparently, not the god. I am. So, you should show more respect." She huffed and sank back down to all fours. She tried to look smug. Somehow, that expression felt more natural in this form. That was right, she was a dragon. Fear me, and all that jazz.
She had to be a thief, only some mutant trickery could pull this mental swap on a God. The fact that mutant abilities mattered at all to him was infuriating, mortal things were barely within his realm of notice and he was not enjoying the experience his Mother had sat upon him so far. "Whatever power you've used to switch our minds is clearly thievery, and I have no patience or respect for criminals!" Even staring up at his massive form Ryoga could feel the security of his power. Look at how large and powerful his body looked, even when this girl had no idea how to posture it, he was certain a single swat of his wing or the clamp of his jaws could end a life...even his own.
If he died in a mortal form he'd surely be dead truly? He absolutely had to cure this swap and return to his own body. She dared to question his divinity? What insolence this woman had, were all women outside of Japan so miserable? Was Shelby but the only exception? He snorted at her and responded. "Sitting upon a king's throne doesn't make you a king woman, and dwelling in my body makes you no more than a thief playing pretend." That smug look on her face...it felt somehow irritating but comforting at the same time, was that the look he gave others?
"For whatever reason your power and I seem to have an affinity, and it's let you steal something beyond your understand, I at least command that you cease wrecking my adoptive home and explain how you did this." Even stored within Tses's little form Ryoga's confidence was enough to smother a small country, the look in his eyes enough to burn a hole through anyone.
Tses gazed at the tiny human smugly, wanting to laugh at his irritation. The cookies seemed less important now that she had someone to mock. Mocking seemed like an important thing to do in this body. She yawned, stretching out like a cat and swatting her tail, toppling more china inside the building. Then she started casually strolling back in the direction of the stone object she had been sleeping on when she first appeared in this body.
"I'm pretty sure the phrase I'm looking for is 'you can't make me.'" She paused and stretched out her wings, only sort of flaunting how big she was. Yup. She was a dragon. He was not. "You can cry all you want, but I still have the big dragon body, and you don't. Although, it's pretty lame to be a dragon that can't fly. Guess you're not that amazing after all. Although, there is a shrine over there I think I can go sit on. Maybe you can come worship me later. You know, since we're talking about thrones." She trotted over towards the shrine with a smug expression on her face.
To be scorned by your own face, speaking words you would never stay but none the less seeing them said with your mouth was truly infuriating. Whoever this thief was, Ryoga was certain that he already hated her. Could't make her? Were it not for her trickery Ryoga would have already splattered the girl into a fine mist for her insolence. "Perhaps you cannot make anyone do anything, but I am a God, and I will see my flesh returned to me." Ryoga said with disdain, following the sluggish Tses as she returned to his shrine to rest upon his bed.
He felt his lip quiver a bit in frustration when she mentioned flight, so she'd tried to fly and found out his one real secret. "You've no idea how that form works or what it's capable of, you ignorance is truly outstanding." He retorted. "I'm guessing you feel quite sluggish right now don't you? You barely understand how to walk my body even."
Ryoga laughed, his own affinity with Tses increasing as he began to tap into her own snarky and confrontational nature with his speech. "Even if you sleep on my bed, it won't change who you are. Your form is far too frail and fleshy for anyone's taste." He said, remembering how he'd touched himself when he first realized what had happened, and how unusual a human body was, especially a girls considering Ryoga had been born partly mutated and lost any semblance of human form years ago.
Tses hopped up onto her little rock and curled up, looking at him like a cat would from a tall perch. Disdain, judgement. She was totally better than him right now. Dragon wins. She should have been a dragon all along. Clearly she was meant to be a dragon. Swatting her tail at the figure she laughed at his remarks.
"I'm pretty sure I understand how this body works. It's big, and you're not. And I could squish you. Then I could just stay a dragon forever. And you wouldn't get to be one. The wings may be useless but I'm pretty sure the claws work..." She batted at the girl with a paw, only slightly attempted to impale her. It was amazing how annoying her voice was in this body. No, it wasn't her voice, it was the voice of that dragon that was now not a dragon. He could be a tiny girl that fell through furniture now. Tses had other plans.
She sat back and tried to remember if the giant lizard destoying the city and the giant monkey were from the same movie or not....
Ryoga sighed deeply as he continued to talk at the brick wall unknown to him as Tses. Give a mortal a shiny new toy or a little bit of authority and they ran with it, their ignorance was outstanding. He pressed her hands against his face and tried to restrain he frustration he currently couldn't expect. Pulling back from his hands he saw his form lash out lazily, like a hippo swatting a fly, he fell backwards with a thud as his rear hit the earth. The insolence! Just how arrogant was this woman who'd stolen his form? Oh right, she stole a God's body, her ego was surely enough to smother a small nation.
"You know nothing woman, your ignorance is large enough to nearly crush me. You'd threaten you own flesh? If you aren't behind this, and I am beginning to assume that you aren't, killing this body might do nothing but kill us both." If he died in her form, would he simply die? Would he swap back into his body by default? He needed to find the culprit and understand this curse, Gods were beings of passion and whimsy, but he was not merely a God, but an honorable son of Japan, he had honor and integrity to live up to. Enough of being mad at this insolent dog, she was nothing to him, even when wearing his flesh.
He stood up off the ground and dusted himself off, adjusting his clothes to fit better to his own sense of comfort. "Yes...I need to find someone of intelligence or wisdom to speak with, arguing with a mortal is pointless. Besides you assume my form is safe, but there is one who knows everything about that body that you do not, Me. And I can think of plenty to do with a woman's body in return." He said smirking up at the lazy beast who'd dare imitate his majesty.
If Tses wanted to threaten Ryoga with harm he'd simply escape from the clumsy girl and put her form into all sorts of trouble to deal with when he found a way to swap back, and he would find a way. A God would not be denied...but speaking of denial, that weird pressure in his gut had grown more during this time, especially after jumping backwards to evade her just now. "You, woman. I'm tired of debating your pointless thoughts but I most know. Your form has become quite...pressed in the midsection, like pressure or an unscratchable itch. What is this?" He demanded pointing up at her.
Tses's body was far more human than Ryoga's own, which meant it had needs and urges that the dragon was unaccustomed to, namely he was really needing to hit the restroom.
Tses was mostly ignoring his comments, but then there was one stray one that sent a twinge of discomfort through her body. At least, she thought it was the comment that did it. It was hard to tell because that strange taste had never left her mouth, and it was growing stronger the closer she got to morning. While she didn't really care if her body got squished or something, having him purposefully do something to it to get back at her did strike a tone of irritation inside her.
"You're the one who came here and threatened me. You're lucky all I've done was hunt for a few cookies while I've been here. You know, I'm not sure I like the color of my scales. I bet they make some car paint that could jazz this up a bit too. They're enough mutants, I'm sure they invented like a claw polish or dye or something by now."
As he complained about his stomach, she squinted at him, before finally realizing what was going on. Well, this was awkward. "Obviously you're not one of the all-knowing varieties of dieties. You have to go pee. Don't you like, know what that is?"
Awkward. Awkward awkward awkward. She should have kept her head in the kitchen
She would dare besmirch his body with paint or graffiti? This woman's audacity was enough to make Ryoga happy he'd never want or seek a woman of his own, their gender was clearly terrible save for his Mother. Or perhaps this creature was merely the worst example of their gender. "My form is majestic, the body of a God! The earthen color of my boy is more than perfect you...you rodent!" He retorted angrily, this girl managing to get under his skin once more. The anger didn't last though, as she explained what that feeling was.
Ryoga's unique metabolism somehow managed to make his water needs nearly non-existent. And even what he drank rarely needed to be emptied, his odd fusion of reptilian and mutant physiology creating quite the efficient system. The idea of urination was all but unknown to him, but the thought of having to go as a woman? His cheeks exploded in crimson at the though. "How shameful!" He blurted out in embarrassment, touching this body already bothered him, but now he'd have to look...at a woman's body! Mortal nudity was of no interest to a dragon! And Ryoga had never looked...at a girl's body before, after all even as a boy he was still covered in scales and walking on all fours.
He turned away from his own body and began to pace, trying to clear his thoughts. His legs had begun to buckle and bump against one another in an effort to hold back his body's new instinct. "I...I...really have to go!" He quickly dropped Tses's body down in a bow, his urge to cover his shame super-ceding his dislike of Tses currently. "I'll try not to look!" He turned and bolted off for the Mansion, his thoughts a bubbling mess of embarrassment and anger.
Sleeping on the ground as a dragon was easy. Not that being a street kid exactly gave Tses refined tastes, but she was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to bask on the giant rock like structure in the grounds. The sun was also delightfully toasty when she woke up. Overall, she was a pretty happy dragon as she stirred and stretched, tail knocking over a potted plant nearby the shrine.
Maybe she could stay this way. Although that would require evading that annoying body of hers, which was having a lot of luck locating her.
She had a number of things on her to-do list for the day. Terrorize children. Track down bullies. Generally beat up anyone she could. And the sun made her feel energized. Stretching some more, she looked around for something to accomplish first...
