The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Welcome to New York, we hope you enjoy your stay! (Open)
Mars couldn't see any change, but the lack of pressure on her ghosts told her that something had changed the pillars state back to normal. Which meant the huge and totally awesome dragon she was summoning wouldn't be needed. She could try finishing it, but that would take too long without going as fast as possible, which would hurt. Not really worth it, she was just better off storing it for later. She took a moment to let the mist curl around her, then started drawing it into herself, focusing on the major aspects, and making sure she could recreate it properly when she got a chance to finish it.
She had to run for a few seconds to catch up with Mirror, almost half of her dream reabsorbed by now, while the other three left their positions and tagged along next to them. Her head was still spinning from the whole thing, and the terror from not knowing whether or not she would be able to hold up the roof hadn't yet drained away yet. She just wanted to lie down and sleep for a century.
At the moment it looked like the mutant wanted to ask her some questions, did she think she knew the orange eyed boy? Or was it something to do with her powers, Danny, the other X-Man, didn't seem to think there was a problem with them, but did the mirror X-Man want to make sure? Check that there wasn't going to be any after effects? Tough luck if she asked, even Mars herself didn't know.
“I'm not the trouble with the X-Men, am I?” She asked cautiously. She was pretty sure she wasn't but it was better to be safe.
"Hang on, you were that guy in the ally, the one that slaughtered that group. That's what you meant by bring able to get out of trouble with the police. You have connections with that mirrorwalker. Look fine. I'll go with you to whatever place it is you take mutants like me."
What? Did this kid think he was bribing X-Men or something? Slightly offended, Danny went and voiced those very thoughts. "Are you implying that I bribe X-Men?" he growled in irritation. "There's no way I'd be able to get away with that. No, I'm a mutant too, you idiot. Except my mutation is that I'm immortal. Can't get in trouble with police who think I died centuries ago. And Mirror is just a friend of mine. She's not 'connections' in the X-Men." Jesus, teenagers these days were all so rebellious. He could tell the kid was ready to bolt any minute now. Danny wasn't stupid, and so he also caught the rummaging through the pockets. His logical train of thought was that the kid was looking to modify something else, and considering the only object of import nearby was his knife, that would be his automatic assumption. And so he said just that.
"And don't even think about touching my knife," Danny added. "Believe me, you can try and run, but I'm much older than you are and you ever could be, and when - not if - I find you again, I won't be as lenient." And as for the last statement. "I personally do not have any place that I'd take a 'mutant like you.' In fact, your well-being is really none of my business. What is my business is you recklessly using your mutation to nearly massacre an airport full of people. Remember in the alley, when you were complaining about being hated on for being gay? Yeah, imagine how people will feel if you're a mass murderer too." He was being harsh, and he knew it, but this kid needed a wake-up call. He seemed to think he could do whatever he wanted and get away with it, no problem. But that really wasn't how the universe worked.
Feel free to go for killshots. I don't mind - but you probably will. Danny speaks in flame red.
"Nope" Maya reassured the girl with a smile and led her away from the chaos a bit down the street where she found a bench to sit.
"So... my name is Maya, I'm on the X-men team, I guess you already know that. Sorry about all the mess at the arrival. Some people just don't know when to quit."
She chuckled. She was sure that between Danny, the police, and MRC, the situation would soon be solved.
"Welcome to New York City" she added "It gets crazy sometimes. So... you are obviously a mutant. What brings you to New York?"
"Are you implying that I bribe X-Men? There's no way I'd be able to get away with that. No, I'm a mutant too, you idiot. Except my mutation is that I'm immortal. Can't get in trouble with police who think I died centuries ago. And Mirror is just a friend of mine. She's not 'connections' in the X-Men."
"Oh yeah, cuz you know, I've totally seen so many movies that i think the good guys are utterly flowing in bribes." Chris let the sarcasm drip off his words. He was obviously being treated as the ungrateful teenager in this situation. So he might as well life up to his role. In an exaggerated manner he lent against the bus and tried to look bored. "And don't even think about touching my knife. Believe me, you can try and run, but I'm much older than you are and you ever could be, and when - not if - I find you again, I won't be as lenient."
Chris mentally shuddered as he recalled the casual taking down of the goons. "Oh trust me I've no doubted in your ability to make good your promise. Plus anyway, you can have your knife. I was actually trying to make the bus take off but I don't have anything light enough to do so, nor an alien civilizations flight gem and a screwdriver." Chris stepped away from the bus and gestures for him to take the knife.
"I personally do not have any place that I'd take a 'mutant like you.' In fact, your well-being is really none of my business. What is my business is you recklessly using your mutation to nearly massacre an airport full of people. Remember in the alley, when you were complaining about being hated on for being gay? Yeah, imagine how people will feel if you're a mass murderer too."
Chris couldn't help it. A harsh laugh escaped his lips. Someone that had killed a bunch of thugs, even once they had agreed to leave was telling him off for almost killing other people. "Ironic words coming from you. I mean you did kill those thugs and probably saved me from a beating that one time. But you did still kill them, when after one of them had decided to leave us alone. I doubt that was your first kill either, so I don't think you get to take the moral high ground and tell me what is right. In fact part of me is saying to not do what the creepy immortal murderer wanted me to do." Chris stopped for a brief breath before plunging back into it. "On top of that I never intended to kill anyone anyway. It was support to be a distraction. One that you choose to ignore as well meaning that for some reason you decided to trust a mirrorwalker and someone with unknown powers just for the sake of chasing me down. I think that says something about your priorities. If you need proof that I didn't intend for them to die them think about this, why would I grab the two things I would need to reverse the effect. I mean they were hardly going to make me run faster. The ripped pillowpets of speed. Gain plus 10 to agility!" Chris stopped again before continuing in a less angry tone. "I would never kill anyone, or harm them. You can replace an airport, not a parent or a son"
[[OOC: sorry for any borked English/formatting, my phone and I sometimes don't agree]]
Mars was quite for a little bit while she thought about what Mirror had said. Why was she here?
“Well... It is kind of complicated,” She began, “I never really paid attention to I powers. They did not do much during I got them, and they didn't really advise in my studies and gymnastics, which as pretty much all I thought about back then. But, then one day, I really needed to use my powers, but I did not know how they worked.”
“Some drug crazed lunatic decided to mug me and my friends, and when I brought out these:” Mars released one of her dreams, the spider like one. After a few moments she recalled it.
“Well, just look at them. They are not exactly hug-able. The man panicked, pulled a gun on us, and during that, I was dealing with using too much of my power, too fast. He shot my best friend and ran.”
Mars' head hung forward, her hair disguising her face, and the tears that ran down it.
“Everyone blamed me, I blamed me. I am not certain whether or not that blame was deserved, I mean, my power is not exactly a threat to others around me; the Dreams literally do nothing on their own. It was really just me that messed up.”
“Anyway, people targeted me because I was a mutant, though the pretended it was because I got my friend killed. It got really bad, to the point that people were sending me death threats. My mum just decided one day that I would be better off here, in New York. With my dad.” The way she said dad didn't suggest she had a lot of respect for him. She'd lost all of it a long time ago. She wiped a hand across her face and looked up at Mirror.
“Th-that is all.” She muttered, and looked around. More and more people were going past, all eager to see what had happened in the airport. Feeling a little self conscious about the mist trailing out of her mouth, Mars pulled out her cigarette and proceeded to 'smoke' it. She looked back at Mirror, and waited for her response.

Deleted: Why must you insist on double triple spacing MRO?
"Oh yeah, cuz you know, I've totally seen so many movies that i think the good guys are utterly flowing in bribes." ...what the hell? Danny was a good guy now? No, this was not supposed to happen. His reputation relied on his moral ambiguity, dammit. "Oh trust me I've no doubted in your ability to make good your promise. Plus anyway, you can have your knife. I was actually trying to make the bus take off but I don't have anything light enough to do so, nor an alien civilizations flight gem and a screwdriver." Oh, thank god. He was still vaguely intimidating, as was his intention whenever he did anything - it just turned out most of the time that he really wasn't that terrifying. As Chris moved to let Danny take the knife, the older mutant stepped forward and pulled it out of the tire, which started to deflate with a faint hiss of air, and tucked it back into his jacket. The passengers and driver had long since fled, so it was just the two mutants now. Except now the kid was laughing in a very not-amused way, and he seemed to be winding up for a big speech. Oh, no. Danny was not good with counseling younger people, and he really didn't think he could shut down a long-winded defense.
"Ironic words coming from you. I mean you did kill those thugs and probably saved me from a beating that one time. But you did still kill them, when after one of them had decided to leave us alone. I doubt that was your first kill either, so I don't think you get to take the moral high ground and tell me what is right. In fact part of me is saying to not do what the creepy immortal murderer wanted me to do." And, pause so he could breathe. Danny stayed quiet, deciding it was best to wait it out and let him vent for now. Gain plus 10 to agility!" ...was he done yet? "I would never kill anyone, or harm them. You can replace an airport, not a parent or a son." And now he finally seemed to be finished. Danny waited a moment, letting him cool off from his somewhat rant, before responding very calmly.
"Yes, I kill people, and I've killed them in the past. But you may not have noticed - those thugs that attacked you in that alley? They lynched and murdered people long before they ran into you. I only kill those who, upon their deaths, will prevent the deaths of innocents in the future. That's the creed I live by. And yes, I trust Mirror. I may not have known that other girl, but Mirror would've been a better choice than me. You may not realize this, but when I die? I explode. So if that roof had come down on me, I'd be dead, and so would some people who could have survived if they were in the blast radius or if the ensuing fire got them. The best thing I could've done was leave. And that was a pretty destructive distraction. What if you'd gotten injured in some way that prevented you from reverting the airport to what it'd been? I was chasing you down partly to catch you because you f**ked up, and partly to make sure what I just said didn't happen." Of course Danny had had an ulterior motive. He always had an ulterior motive, and while it usually wasn't the most well-thought-through one, this time, it had. He'd lived for a couple centuries - he learned from his mistakes.
"Anyway, what now? Are we going to stand around here debating ethics or what? Like I told you, I'll pay for the repairs. But what are you going to do? I can't bribe the police, property damage and robbery are kind of crimes, and there's no way you'll get away with the 'out-of-control powers' excuse, considering how deliberate your actions were."
Feel free to go for killshots. I don't mind - but you probably will. Danny speaks in flame red.

Maya sat quietly, listening as the girl told her story, piecing it together in English. It was a difficult story to tell, so Maya decided to listen, and give her time to put her thoughts in order after the eventful arrival. Nothing was blowing up on the other side of the building yet, so she assumed Danny was handling the situation.
>>“Everyone blamed me, I blamed me. Maya sighed and put an arm around the girl's shoulders.
"I'm sorry." she said earnestly "Things like that happen to a lot of mutant kids. Heck, the happened to me too. For now, you are here, you safely landed, and we'll handle the rest. So, you are saying your father lives in New York? I should probably take you to him first. Once you are settled, I can take you to the Mansion. It's a school for mutants and a safe haven where you can practice your powers, as well as take classes. That's where I live too. So... do you have an address for your dad, or was he coming to pick you up?"
