The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

[OOC: As I do not actually speak French and don't want to use Google Translate to slaughter it, French will be in bold.]
Oh, Jesus Christ. He was so done with this. He was bruised and battered from complimentary beatings from the Russian mob, about ready to throw up because he was just on a plane and he hated planes, probably concussed because he had just been slammed in the head with a rock-hard Pillow Pet, and jet-lagged beyond belief because Russia. At the moment, Danny wasn't sure whether he wanted to laugh, cry, or just curl up into a ball and sleep.
He was kind of going for the third one.
Mirror was shouting something and she looked like she had the other mutant handled, and - wait.
Come to think of it, that guy looked familiar.
Danny dismissed it as jet lag, though, not particularly wanting to pursue that train of thought, and instead glared at the French girl who looked like she was in the middle of a breakdown.
"STOP," Danny bellowed, and it was kind of sad that he knew perfectly well how to say that in French. "THE WORLD IS NOT ENDING. JUST STOP BEING SO INSECURE. NOBODY IS DEAD OR HURT AND NOBODY WILL DIE OR BE HURT IF YOU JUST CALM. DOWN. And that was kind of harsh, but Danny wasn't really in the mood to sugar-coat things right now.
Feel free to go for killshots. I don't mind - but you probably will. Danny speaks in flame red.
>>"It's not like I can go anywhere. As far as places go however it's not bad, could use a but if decor though... I wonder... Actually, I changed my mind. I don't really like it in here after all... Oops?".
Mirror turned to look just in time to see the window lose its reflecting surface. For a moment she was panicked; what if the guy just killed himself? What would happen with someone if they were trapped in a mirror and the mirror went away? They could get hurt, or dead, or...
... fall out?
"Oh for Chrissake, do stay put." Maya growled. If the guy was going to keep getting out of reflecting surfaces, there had to be a plan be. She was aware of the French girl panicking and Danny yelling. This was all going swimmingly wasn't it.
All right, plan B.
Maya, as the person standing the closest to the window the guy just faceplanted out of, spun around and aimed an elbow at the guy's head, in a move learned from Sam, hoping to knock him out cod until the situation was under control again.
[Mirror is a pretty good fighter and fairly close to the window at this point, but feel free to dodge if you want to, I'll leave it up to you ]
The world tilted as the mirror stopped reflecting. Because chris had been kneeling on the floor he was unable to lift his hands in time, which in turn lead to a rather painful faceplant onto the ground. Like, literally his face smoshed into the floor. As one would expect, his nose took the brunt and let it's discomfort known via blood.
Chris groaned, this was the second time he'd had a heavy collision with the ground. The first being in an alleyway with... His eyes widened as he recognised the guy from before. Unfortunately an elbow to the knee stopped all mental capacity and his face met the ground yet again. [[OOC: I'm going to have him wake up next post but feel free to cuff him/sit on him/whatever it is you want to do]]
ooc: Similar to Danny, I don't trust google with this length of writing, so french will be in bold.
Mars shakily stood up, red and ashamed from being called out like that. She almost broke down again before reminding herself that that was why the boy had chided her in the first place.
“Sorry, I didn't, I mean, somebody could of gotten hurt! My power, it always scares people, the things I create are terrifying, and I just wanted to help but I thought I nearly, I thought it nearly happened again, and...” She began, before realising that she was babbling again. She took a deep shaky breath and ran her fingers through her hair, as if it would rid her of the turmoil of emotions she felt. She had messed up with her powers before, that much couldn't be denied, but how badly had she messed? She had felt sure that she'd come close to killing someone again, but that same fear didn't seem to worry the boy in front of her at all, so maybe she hadn't? It was all too confusing for her, there was a fine line when it came to using her powers, if she didn't use them at all, people would get hurt, but if she used them with reckless abandon people would also get hurt. Where was the sweet spot? How much was she supposed to use her powers? Nothing ever seemed to make sense in her life.
“Is there anyway I can help?” She finally asked, her voice sounding whiny and pathetic in her own ears.
“Sorry, I didn't, I mean, somebody could of gotten hurt! My power, it always scares people, the things I create are terrifying, and I just wanted to help but I thought I nearly, I thought it nearly happened again, and...” Danny just stood there and waited for her to calm down. He felt slightly guilty, but really, he was just irritated. “Is there anyway I can help?” And that sounded rather whiny and pathetic to Danny, but at this point, anything that came out of anybody's mouth sounded kind of whiny.
"Yes, you could've killed somebody with you power," Danny deadpanned, actively ignoring the scene off to his side as Mirror knocked the guy out with a neatly placed elbow. "Well, you know what my power is? Blowing sh*t up. You've got it lucky. At least you can choose when your power activates. I can't. Yet I haven't killed anybody by accident, have I?" Well, not as if she'd know. And he did specify by accident, so technically, it was true. Other than the original manifestation of his power, but they had been trying to burn him at the stake, so their deaths had been totally justified. "The problem here is not your powers, it's your choice of when to use them. You're a bit naive, trying to attack him like that. Complete overkill."
...wow. He really was tired. He was probably coming over as a complete a**hole right about now. Sighing, Danny ran his fingers through his already mussed hair. Switching to English, because he did feel more comfortable in that language and didn't really want to get to the awkward point where he didn't know half the words he was trying to say, he asked, "What's your name, kid?" Yes, she was probably about the same age as him, physically, but everyone became a kid to Danny when they were shorter than him, because height was the only reliable system that worked for Danny at this point.
Maya's elbow hit him on the back of his head, and the mutant guy with the weird powers went down like a sack of bricks. Maya, taking advantage of the few minutes of peace, quickly wrapped a scarf around the guy's hands several times, forming make-shift handcuffs that enveloped his hands behind his back. Maybe that would stop him from using touch-based powers. Or maybe not.
"All right" she sighed, straightening up and blowing the hair our of her face "You two. Danny, do you understand what she is saying? Tell him to calm down. We've got this. She is obviously a mutant, so please do ask her where she is headed, because if she is alone, we might as well take her to the school and sort this out there. Alternately, we can call in the MRC, but I would really rather not until we have to."
Right now, if Chris had to name the one thing he hated most in the world he would not be able to answer, because he would be unconscious. In a few seconds the answer would be "The feeling after coming to". As such it took him a minute to get his whereabouts.
He brought his arms forward to push himself off the ground and found them tied by a rather odd looking scarf. It looked old and like the type of thing a doctor would wear. With a bit of twisting and general writhing on the floor he managed to get his hands in front of him. He didn't try to get out of the bond, he was useless with soft handcuffs. Instead he crawled over to the nearest no-so-soft pillow pet and undid his hardening. This next bit would have to be done rather far away from the group, as to avoid hurting anyone.
Once he reached a pillar that he deemed far enough away from the trio he tore savagely at the toy until he had pulled off a leg. "I don't like being stuffed in mirrors or being knocked out and tied up. But what it does show is that you are rather annoyingly good. So I am going to have to resort to rather more drastic measures." This was shouted to to group and followed by said drastic measure.
Chris placed the leg on the ground and made the body hard from the pillar, this caused the pillar to become as soft as the body was however, causing it to start to sag from the weight of the floor above. To make doubly sure that chaos would ensue Chris climbed up the softening pillar and used the leg to do the same to the floor. Wiggling away from the destruction he did momentarily think that he had gone too far but that was quelled by the thought that he did NOT want to get caught by the X-Men or the MRC, and the mirrorwalker had already mentioned one of them.
[[OOC: Chris has only swapped the softness/squishieness/whatever-else-you-call-it, so it is still the same weight and appearance and what have you.]]
“Mars.” Mars replied, her face downcast. “And I'm sorry, I, well, I don't know. Too many things.”
After looking down at the ground for a few seconds, she started to speak, but stopped when she heard the orange eyed boy yelling, and then the roof started collapsing.
“Non! Arrêtez!” She cried, and with a flick of her wrist and a tendril of mist, the Dream styled after the grim reaper flew out towards him. She was conjuring another Dream, in case he was some how able to escape that one, when she heard a horrifying groan coming from the pillar he'd touched. The roof above it was sagging, and the pillar bending! With a cry of dismay, she mentally commanded the Dream to stop chasing the boy, and help support the roof.
It wasn't enough on its own, so she sent her second Dream, a spider like creature, and when that wasn't enough either, she summoned her third and final Dream, an huge bear with a cloud instead of legs.
That was finally enough.
She'd just have to hope the others would be able to catch him.
"All right. You two. Danny, do you understand what she is saying? Tell him to calm down. We've got this. She is obviously a mutant, so please do ask her where she is headed, because if she is alone, we might as well take her to the school and sort this out there. Alternately, we can call in the MRC, but I would really rather not until we have to."
Danny opened his mouth to respond, but before he could, the girl spoke instead.
“Mars. And I'm sorry, I, well, I don't know. Too many things.”
So she did speak pretty good English, French was just her first language. After a few moments, she seemed to want to speak again, but this time, she was the one cut off by the other kid - holy sh*t, he did recognize that kid. The gay mutant in the alley a while ago. Well, way to repay that debt.
"I don't like being stuffed in mirrors or being knocked out and tied up. But what it does show is that you are rather annoyingly good. So I am going to have to resort to rather more drastic measures."
Then he...touched the floor and the pillar. Lovely. Very drastic measures those were.
And then Danny remembered what he had said his powers were, and noticed that he was gripping the noticeably soft leg of a pillow pet.
Before he could move, though, he heard a shout from the girl - Mars.
“Non! Arrêtez!” No, stop...?
To his surprise, the grim reaper mist thing then made a reappearance, chasing after the boy. But as the roof started to collapse as the softening pillar started to squish in on itself, the reaper was redirected - presumably by Mars - to hold up the roof, along with some overly large spider-thing and a weird bear cloud. They seemed to be doing fine holding up the roof, so Danny started to sprint after the kid. He wasn't very fast, all things considering, but he looked significantly more physically fit than the kid he was chasing.
"Hey! You!" he shouted. "Slow down, you're not in trouble unless you hurt somebody, and you haven't yet! But you almost did, so just stop, okay?"
Feel free to go for killshots. I don't mind - but you probably will. Danny speaks in flame red.
>>"I don't like being stuffed in mirrors or being knocked out and tied up. But what it does show is that you are rather annoyingly good. So I am going to have to resort to rather more drastic measures."
Maya had never wanted to b*tch-slap anyone so hard... for the past two weeks at least. Serious, the guy needed to know when to quit.
Everything went to hell at once. The guy ran, the roof bent, the girl screamed, and Danny took off after the usual suspect.
"DANNY!" Maya yelled "Leave him! I'll call in MRC. Just make sure people get out safe!"
She motioned to the very confused security personnel.
"Get EVERYONE out!"
Turning to the girl who had summoned... whatever the heck she was summoning, she asked, as slow and clear as possible:
"How long can you hold it?"
At least the roof was secure for a few minutes. If they could get everyone out, that was a win. She would hunt down the troublemaker's sorry ass later on.
"I don't know, I never really use my powers! They're normal, euh, not normal, so I won't think they, um, tire? They are easily hurt, and I think roof is crushing them." Mars explained. One of the grim reaper-esque Dreams arms suddenly seemed to twist and bend sharply, and Mars and all of her Dreams flinched simultaneously.
Mars looked back at Mirror, far more panicked then before. She could feel her Dreams starting to fall apart. They healed rapidly, but not in situations like these, where they were rapidly being hurt.
"No-no-no, I don't, this, it's, what do I-" She started babbling, before she remembered the supposedly exploding boys advice. She took a rather hurried and ragged deep breath, and pushed her arms and hands forward, then splayed her fingers.
Something strong and tough, she willed, as mist started to spill out of her.
"I'm making, it take a minutes." she explained, her english slipping as she directed her attention towards her creation. "Oh, and I know english, just rusty, I definitely understand, you don't need speak slowly."
The mist started to twist and rise, shrinking and expanding constantly, not unlike a heartbeat. Mars could already feel vaguely what it was going to look like, and to be honest, she would of ecstatic if she was trying to save peoples lives.
If she was correct, it was going to be a huge dragon!
Chris stole a fleeting glance back at the chaos and his pursuer. He had counted on those dream things being rather tough, he had felt one of them we it went all ninja scythe on him so he figured it would be able to hold up the roof. Apparently not it would seem. Damn, this was going to make escape a lot harder but he didn't want to kill anyone. One hand had the leg and the other the body, both stiff from the previous swap. It didn't take much, some simple recoloring to erase the effect and both the pillar and the roof solidified. Chris chucked the now useless floppy things at the guy chasing him and swung out of the nearby window. It took a bit of navigating to get onto the ground at which point he sprinted towards the bus that was about to pull out.
"DANNY!" somebody shouted from behind him - he was gonna go with that being Maya. "Leave him! I'll call in MRC. Just make sure people get out safe!" Dammit. Another moral crisis. Get the kid who did that or help with something the security personnel could probably handle on their own? Still deciding, he leapt out the window and swore as the kid tossed a few disembodied pieces of a stuffed animal at him - they had been hard before. But as he failed miserably at dodging them, the animal's leg hit his foot, and he realized with surprise that it was soft. Which meant...the pillar was hard again. Lovely. Of course, that also meant that a significantly shorter pillar had probably frozen back in its crumpled state, but the roof would probably hold, as a quick glance back showed Mars, who seemed to be conjuring another one of her mist things. So he doubled his speed instead, running hard to catch up with the kid.
He seemed to be running towards the bus, which Danny could easily stop. He had easily made his way past airport security with his knives by making a tablet case look as if there was a tablet in there with an imprinted lead lining and a false pouch [Disclaimer: Don't actually try this, because I don't know if it legitimately works, but it did in a book], and now had relocated all four of them into his jacket. So he drew one, whipping it towards the tire of the bus. It missed the kid by about four feet, which he had intended, but sunk neatly into the tire, which started to deflate with a soft hissing noise.
"Hey, kid!" Danny shouted again, trying to get his attention. "Stop it! I swear the X-Men or MRC won't get you, okay? Just stop running away, you ungrateful bastard! You've already escalated from stealing a suitcase to nearly crashing an airport, and I will cover the damages, but only if you stop running!"
Feel free to go for killshots. I don't mind - but you probably will. Danny speaks in flame red.
People were fleeing the scene under the supervision of the security guards, and there were already sirens in the distance. The roof seemed to solidify, and Danny, despite better judgement, chased the troublemaker out of the building.
>>"I'm making, it take a minutes. Oh, and I know English, just rusty, I definitely understand, you don't need speak slowly."
"Good. Let's go. C'mon it's time to get out of here. Danny will catch up. C'mon."
Maya had connections with the MRC, but the girl looked shaken enough already to put through a full police investigation right off the plane. She led her out of the building and stepped up to one of the security guards, flashing an ID.
"X-men. We work with the MRC. Let them know we have one of the mutant witnesses, the one that held up the roof. She'll be with us if they need her. And you might wanna point them to the other exit, there is a mutant there that's potentially dangerous, and one that is just an *sshole. They'll sort out which one is which."
With that, Maya nodded to the French girl to follow her.
"Let's go somewhere more quiet and figure this out, shall we?"
Chris skidded to a stop outside the now immobile bus. "Stop it! I swear the X-Men or MRC won't get you, okay? Just stop running away, you ungrateful bastard!" Chris heard the guy yell towards him. A thought began to form in his mind. Slowly he backed up against the wheel that had the knife sticking out of it and turned to face the guy. "Hang on, you were that guy in the ally, the one that slaughtered that group. That's what you meant by bring able to get out of trouble with the police. You have connections with that mirrorwalker." While he was talking he searched in his pockets for anything clear he could use to hide the knife with. Various bits of materials he carried around but nothing clear. Well there went that idea. Option two, go along and if trouble struck, run away. "Look fine. I'll go with you to whatever place it is you take mutants like me." He didn't mention however the part about escaping soon after.
