The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Maya checked the team roster in the office. She was still not exactly on speaking terms with Sam, so it was no wonder she missed the fact that he added a new person to the team. Not like Mirror had a say in that, but still. Since there was nothing else on the schedule for the entire day, Maya decided to go say hi and be a good fellow X-man.
Sara Nobes. The mirrorwalker checked the room number, then stepped through the office mirror to the hallway in the girl's dorm. She was wearing training clothes, but no X-men gear. She had been missing new sparring partners lately. If this person was on the team, she'd better be up for some introductory training. Maya was curious what powers she possessed.
Knocking on Sara's door, she waited for an answer.
To say that Sara had trust issues was an under statement. For years she had avoided becoming affiliated with any of the mutant factions in New York but now, it looked as though she'd finally been suckered into one. Never make a bet with a dead man.
She was still adjusting to the idea of being on the team. To living here and not all of her stuff have been moved out of her apartment yet. In fact she wasn't sure that she wanted to completely move out of it at all. Moving in general was a scary thought.
For the most part, the x-mansion's rooms were already furnished so Sara had only brought a few boxes over, that she'd carefully piled in the far corner of the room, next to her closet. a dufle bag sat at her drawing desk with a few of her sketch books left open on top. Sara herself, was wearing a sleeveless top with some grey worm up pants that she'd cut a careful hole in the back side up to allow her tail to comfortable sway free.
She was just starting to make her room more like her own by folding her cloths and sorting them into the dresser when there was a knock at the door. Roxy, her German Shepard barked twice padding closer to the door to great the new comer."It's open." Sara called out. "Come on in."
Maya pushed the door open and stopped in the doorway.
"Hi there" she smiled, and then paused, taking in the feline girl in the room "... whoa."
It was not unusual to see people with physical mutations around the Mansion, but she was definitely a spectacular sight. Maya made a mental note that Sam should keep better records under "powers" in the Mansion files.
"Um. Sorry. Hey" she shook her head in apology for the moment of hesitation "I hear you're the new member on the X team. Came by to say hi. My name's Maya. Maya Morris. Most people call me Mirror."
She offered a hand to the new girl. She was definitely going to be an interesting addition to the team.

Roxy pushed her nose at Mirror. The dog's tail swishing in greeting and Sara well. Sara hung back for a few seconds.
"... whoa."
"I know." Sara said dryly. Sara shrugged off Mirror's initial reaction as she finished tucking a pair of pants into the middle drawer of her dresser. The apology went a long way with Sara and she decided not to make something of it.
"I hear you're the new member on the X team. Came by to say hi. My name's Maya. Maya Morris. Most people call me Mirror."
"Sara." Sara said as a form of returning the introduction. She pushed the dresser drawer closed then covered the distance between them to accept Maya's hand. "Yeah. I lost a bet with Sam a few months ago. So now I'm a member."
For a moment Maya thought she had made a mistake that was going to ruin her non-existent relationship with this girl as a teammate. She obviously did not like her reaction to her appearance. Maya tilted her head sheepishly as they shook hands.
>>"Sara. Yeah. I lost a bet with Sam a few months ago. So now I'm a member."
A slow grin spread on Maya's face. Maybe everything was right.
"Well, that's as good a reason to join as any" she noted cheerfully "He pretty much just punched me into joining."
She let go of Sara's hand, and leaned against the door frame, not wanting to walk in in the middle of her unpacking her stuff. She was apparently just moving in.
"So... what's your thing? Mutation-wise, I walk through mirrors. On the team, I'm an archer, and the occasional getaway vehicle. How about you?"
Sara smirked at Maya's reaction to how she finally became a part of the team After all. Sam had been trying to get Sara to join for years. "Punching had something to do with it." Sara shrugged. "I broke his big scream TV so Ehh." Sara wasn't vindictive. Not vindictive at all.
"So... what's your thing? Mutation-wise, I walk through mirrors. On the team, I'm an archer, and the occasional getaway vehicle. How about you?"
Sara had let go of Maya's hand. Careful to keep her fingers straight and not risk catching her claws on the other girl's hand. "Well... Obviously I'm a cat." Sara motioned to herselfwith a wave of her hand indicating the tip of her nose down to the claws on her feline feet. "My mutation gives me an accelerated healing factor and I'm the best tracker that you're ever going to meet."
>>"Punching had something to do with it. I broke his big scream TV so Ehh."
Maya snorted at that. That would most definitely piss Sam off. She decided she liked the cat-girl.
"I stole his booze." she supplied on her part, and then tilted her head to listen to the more interesting part: Sara's explanation of what she was doing on the team.
>>"My mutation gives me an accelerated healing factor and I'm the best tracker that you're ever going to meet."
Healing factor. Maya envied that. The amount of injuries she got every time she went on patrol on a mission did not make the fact better that DocProf believed in the teaching power of bruises and scratches. A healing factor would have made all that a whole lot easier.
Also. Tracker.
"Really" Maya grinned at that last comment, tilting her head to the side "That sounds like a challenge to me."

Sara pulled open the top drawer to her dresser. The remaining stack of folded cloths was set inside. Satisfied with her work at organizing her things so far.
"That sounds like a challenge to me."
The corner of Sara's mouth curved into a smirk. Roxy had padded back over to her and poked her leg with her nose looking for a scratch behind the ears. Sara's competitive side showing on her face when she looked up on Mirror, again.
"Will there be rules?" Sara shifted her weight to stand with her arms crossed and her hips slanted.
"But of course" she grinned, mirroring her stance "Let's call it a game of tag. All powers allowed. Whoever gets tagged five times first loses. Loser has to go grab Sam's booze."
It was as simple as that. It really was juvenile, but neither of them seemed to stop to think about that. A game of tag, not only to alleviate some of the stress people felt on the team, but also to get to know each other, and each other's abilities, better.

Sara's smirk spread wider across her face. Her tail gave a twitch behind her feet. This was going to be a whole lot of fun.Sara's chin raised as she took in a breath. Breathing Maya's scent in with it. "All of the booze..." Sam would probably replace them quickly. "For a week."
Maya could feel her body tense up, ready to spring into action. There was a rush of adrenaline that readier her for the challenge. She grinned with excitement of having a worthy opponent who did not only seem strong and gifted, but also had the same streak of mischief and willingness to piss off Sam. This was going to be so. Much. Fun.
"Well then" she nodded in acceptance of the terms, stepping backwards out of the room and into the hallway "You're on."
Sara picked up on the subtle tenseness to Maya's. Her feline side picking up on the other girl's body language more than her human side. Maya took a step backwards out of Sara's door way and Sara took another deep breath. Her tail flicked again similarly to the way a house cat's tail moved just before they pounced on a toy. The chase was on.
"You're on."
With no more warning, Sara was clearing the distance between them. Roxy barked behind her in surprise. One hand out stretched for the other girl.
Maya was ready for the pounce. As the cat-girl shot out of her room towards her, Maya scrambled backwards, throwing herself against the far wall of the hallway, and reaching out to touch the surface of the nearby mirror. She merged into the mirror world a split second before Sara's paws touched her.
"Whew!" she grinned from the mirror surface "You are fast."
Moving into the next mirror over, Maya waved.
"Don't worry, I won't be in the mirrors forever. I'm gonna have to get out to tag you..."
And with that, she slipped out of the mirror and disappeared.
Maya was there. And then she wasn't and Sara's hand was left grasping for the air. Her feet skit to a stop on the floor and turning sideways she nearly rammed the wall of the hall with her shoulder. Clawed feet finally finding their grip on the rug without ripping it apart.
"You are fast."
"Not bad yourself." Sara straightened herself back pedaling a couple of steps back to her door. Roxy, her dog, barked from where Sara had left her standing. She thought it was play time, and it was, but so she didn't have to worry about her, Sara carefully shut the dog inside her room. She'd run Roxy later to try to make up for it. Mean while the mirror mutant appeared in the mirror down the hall and Sara chose to follow at a light jog. Hesitating at the second mirror before she moved on down the hall way. "Marko..." Sara called out.
Her nostrils flared as she continued down the hall ways. Tail twitching and ears flicking back and forth. Sara was suddenly much more aware of all of the different mirrors inside the mansion. "Maaaaarrrrkoooooo...."
Maya grinned to herself as she moved through mirrors down the hallway, making sure Sara got an idea of the direction she was headed. She could her the other girl starting out to follow her as she slipped into yet another reflecting surface.
>>"Marko... Maaaaarrrrkoooooo...."
Maya turned a corner and then skipped around in a circle, ending up in a mirror just behind Sara. Slipping forward, she took on the cat-girls looks in the mirror right next to her, mimicking her movements and waiting for just the right moment as she passed.
A moment later, Maya merged out of the mirror right behind Sara, within arm's reach, shooting forward to tag her.
