The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

”Speaking from experience blondie.” Sam said with a shrug, ”When my powers first appeared I was like seven or something, didn’t know what I was doing scared the **** out of me.” Sam said his hands icing over, ”Didn’t know what I was doing, facility I was at an armed guard tried roughing me up and in defense.” the ice shattered around his hand and fell to the ground in pieces, ”He was no more and I found out that if I couldn’t control myself I would have to be alone.” Sam said.
”Pretty simple I had to survive. Best way to do that is get my mind right, get in control. Because even if you don’t think your mind isn’t control of your mutation it is. Most of them are.” Sam said with a shrug, ”Breathing techniques develop focus and that leads to control.” Sam said with a shrug, ”Look if you don’t want to believe me you don’t have to, but what do you have to lose?” Sam asked raising an eyebrow.
Pointing to his head and tapping his noggin, ”All up here, this is a muscle too. Got to train it like any other muscle in your body.”

This time Evelyn couldn't resist rolling her eyes. While she could see training to get more physically skilled, training her brain seemed like one of the last things she really needed to do. There was so much information there already. With the echoes, the playbacks, and just the speed she tended to think..."I just don't feel like my brain is the problem. I've just always had mental powers, and they've always been...elusive. It's like trying to train a cat. In the end, my powers still do what they want, I can only cox them towards more desired results... With the echoes, it's like going 'hey, this information is shinier! Look over here!'." She let her head fall back and lightly thump the back of the elevator.
"I just... want to be prepared for the worse case scenario, I guess. I want to believe I can get a grip on it, but from experience, my powers don't deal well with switching on and off. Maybe just staying 'on' is like, a safety mechanism. Otherwise stuff just gets bottled up and explodes eventually..."[/color] She shrugged, letting it go for now. This didn't feel like the time or place to discuss the mechanics of her powers. The echoes considered ways to get out of the elevator in the meantime. Even if she got mad at Sam for it at first, the escape hatch was looking like the better option.
"Maybe you should go ahead and try the hatch again... I'm pretty sure your powers have a better shot of getting you to the next door than mine do." She stayed in her corner. At least if he left she wouldn't share any more echoes or playbacks.

Sam shrugged, ”Just a suggestion.” Sam said as he breathed in and out showing her how simple it could be but she wasn’t the first person to not listen about how great breathing techniques were. In fact it was often on of the hardest things he had to teach mainly because everyone took it for granted.
”You sure? I don’t want you to think I’m abandoning you.” Sam said as he pushed himself upright and looked at the open slot where the emergency exit was. ”Powers ain’t got nothing to do with it blonde, all about the brain.” Sam jumped up and grabbed onto the ledge pulling himself up before he turned looked back to Eve and reached down into the elevator and iced his hand over so she couldn’t make him stroll down memory lane.
”We are about a foot from one of the floors, should be easy to exit from here and I’ll go reset it after.” Sam said explaining.

Evelyn sighed, but didn't argue. Getting into the technicalities of powers and control didn't seem like the best idea right now. In her experience though, some powers just couldn't be controlled, brains or not. Practice couldn't convince an adapted to be able to control their field, or an undead mutant to suddenly be alive again. Practice couldn't fix all problems. It certainly never really "fixed" the playbacks. Still no dreams, still no off switch. She was doomed to be an insomniac at least in that respect. She shook it off and reached for his hand, trying not to shiver. Just because it was for the best didn't mean it wasn't freakin' cold.
"Remind me to take the stairs next time." Evelyn grumbled. At this point, she just wanted to go back to her room and rest.
