The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

The dragon lifted his head high once more, towering over Alex and casting him once more beneath his shadow. "Do not feel too discouraged, your creation is still impressive. It has brought you honor, not shame mutant." The dragon offered words of praise, a rarity for those not serving within his cult back in Japan, and considering the God basically had no friends, getting praise was quite an honor.
The dragon lifted one of his wings from the ground, extending the oddly long limb so that he could touch one of his few claws to the little creation, with a gentle touch meeting imitation to it's target. "You impressed me with your attention to detail, after all an imitation can never be as perfect as the original." Ryoga believed heavily in the natural superiority of some over others, and this meant that anything that copied another or tried to imitate would never be as good or strong in his eyes, just as he felt about a certain woman's boney replica of his form.
The thought made him a tad irritated, but he let it go and focused on Alex. "How long will your creation live Alex?" The dragon was curious how long something living but non-living could continue to move, after all normal creatures and mortals required food and sleep to function, and though it was an impressive simulacrum, a mutants power surely couldn't create something immortal could it? "Disappointing that I can't show your work to those who live within my home in Hiroshima, they would enjoy your work of me." The dragon pet the small creation for a moment before retracting his long wing and again putting his weight upon it.

"Do not feel too discouraged, your creation is still impressive. It has brought you honor, not shame mutant. You impressed me with your attention to detail, after all an imitation can never be as perfect as the original."
It was nice to know the dragon wasn't upset with his small misstep. This was the first time he had made a copy of someone sentient and it wouldn't do to anger them. Though, he noted for the future to prove Orochi wrong. One day his creations would be just as good, if not better than the originals. It was just a matter of practice and time.
"How long will your creation live Alex?"
"Dunno, usually they disappear after I fall asleep if I don't cut the connection to them. They could live forever if I could figure out a way to keep them around while I sleep." Yeah that would be nice. There were a number of times when he fell asleep and woke up to hungry to bother with making a construct. Those were tough days because it meant he was on his own.
"Disappointing that I can't show your work to those who live within my home in Hiroshima, they would enjoy your work of me."
"Heh, maybe we could find a camera and send them a video?" Though he didn't know where they would get a camera. Maybe someone living here had one they could barrow.
Having moved Alex's focus away from the question of flight, Ryoga felt more comfortable thinking about the little homage to his greatness with pure appreciation. He was surprised to learn the boy could keep this creatures around so long as he paid attention to them, an impressive ability. Mutants continued to surprise the dragon with their various and unique abilities. The randomness of their powers was quite staggering, but still couldn't reach the level of his own nature as a god.
"What a useful power, to craft your own servants for whenever you're awake. Though my own servants continue to serve even while I slumber." Ryoga didn't sleep much for the purpose of resting, but rather because his nature as an arrogant megalomaniac left him plenty of time to laze around when he wasn't busy lording over everything within eye shot. How Ryoga missed his servants some days here in this country, the lack of dexterous hands and appeasing attitudes made him rather frustrated at times. "Do you have to verbally command your creations?" He was curious whether Alex had some sort of mental connection with these constructs.
Alex mentioned sending a video back to Japan to show off his creation to Ryoga's servants or family, to which the dragon replied coldly. "Unfortunately that would be impossible. Sending a message to Father would cause far more issues than I willing to deal with at the moment. My presence here...is something of a vacation from my home. However, perhaps I shall find someone to record your creation so that I might enjoy it when I return home. A fine idea." The dragon thought aloud, revealing that his presence had more complications to it beyond the whole being a giant talking dragon thing. However for a creature to see itself as a God to be loathe to do something, it must be truly frustrating or appalling.
Ryoga realized something as he was speaking with Alex, all of these mutants lived at this school, but he was certain none of their parents did. It was some type of boarding school as far as Ryoga could tell, similar facilities existed in Japan, but he wondered who funded this place. It was certainly not run by the state, so this must be some sort of private enterprise? "A question for you Alex, if you do not mind. Does your family pay for you to study here? This facility seems to possess ample resources, considering the nature of it's residents. I wonder if the tuition for a mutant school is high." The dragon mused.

"What a useful power, to craft your own servants for whenever you're awake. Though my own servants continue to serve even while I slumber. Do you have to verbally command your creations?"
He shook his head, "Not really, they're kind of connected to my brain. It's hard to explain." He could only ever really explain what it felt like, it never felt like he had the right words for it anyway. Analogies could only go so far. It was one of those things that frustrated him about his own powers. He couldn't analyze the working of his own brain, not with out some sort of help, of which he had none. "Unfortunately that would be impossible. Sending a message to Father would cause far more issues than I willing to deal with at the moment. My presence here...is something of a vacation from my home. However, perhaps I shall find someone to record your creation so that I might enjoy it when I return home. A fine idea."
"Ah, okay, a secret vacation then. Maybe we should do a video journal or something."he suggested. Something longer than a small clip could provide. He was sure Orochi would enjoy that, though he wasn't sure why he was invested in making the dragon happy. Maybe it was the near mythical factor that the dragon held.
However the next question gave him pause. "A question for you Alex, if you do not mind. Does your family pay for you to study here? This facility seems to possess ample resources, considering the nature of it's residents. I wonder if the tuition for a mutant school is high."
He chewed on his lip a little at the question, he eyes dropping down to his construct. "I-I don't really have family. The mansion owners are paying for my stay here, so I wouldn't know about the cost..."he murmured. He didn't want to look at the dragon, he didn't want to see pity on his face. He didn't want it to be shameful or something wrong that he didn't have a family. He was doing just fine on his own, though part of him didn't really believe that.
Ryoga knew little to nothing about the science or patterns found in mutants, after all they were mortal just the same as humans, and so mostly beneath his interest. Save for when their power was entertaining or fantastic as Alex's was. "Mutant powers certainly seem hard to explain, and there seems to be few patterns between the lot of you, I'm sure scientists somewhere take great pleasure in researching your kin." The dragon mused, his body starting to feel heavy as he'd stood in one spot for too long.
The dragon stood tall for a moment, stretching his body out as he took a breath, his muscles waking up again as the God commanded them to move. Alex called the God's time here a secret vacation, and Ryoga agreed with the thought, a fitting term for this trip his Mother had planned. "You could say that, perhaps relaxation was one of Mother's goals." The dragon continued to think on things aloud, his attention wavering as it did sometimes, his ego so large it sometimes blotted out the world around him when he felt like focusing on himself.
He wasn't so far gone as to ignore the question he'd asked though, and it seemed the words hit a sour spot for Alex. The dragon eyed him as he explained his situation here, and a lack of family. How disappointing, family was important, the lessons learned from your parents shaped your being, and what you did with your life shaped whether your lineage was seen as honorable, or beneath notice. But that did not mean Alex was not without honor or potential. "There is no shame in accepting kindness Alex. If this place must replace family, then you can take that kindness and do great things with it." The dragon said with sincerity.
If Alex lacked the support or structure of a family, then it was on him to take what was provided and make something of himself, if he could not do that, than he was never worth the attention to begin with. Thus was the nature of talent and fate. The dragon's eyes shone with the sunlight as he finished his stretch, once more striking a pose that might make nearly anyone forget this creature was in fact not mythical.

"Mutant powers certainly seem hard to explain, and there seems to be few patterns between the lot of you, I'm sure scientists somewhere take great pleasure in researching your kin."
Research, huh? Surprisingly he actually hadn't heard all that much on the front of mutant research. Most looked to weaponize or control it. But not a lot seemed to be looking to actually understand it. Even less seemed to be positive about mutation, looking at the negatives rather than anything good about it. It was somewhat disheartening.
At his comment about being family-less Orochi seemed understand. "There is no shame in accepting kindness Alex. If this place must replace family, then you can take that kindness and do great things with it." He looked up at the dragon, confidence bolstered by the dragon's words. He was right of course, not just about taking what he could to boost himself. But about this place becoming a new family, one he couldn't have gotten his hands on before.
He couldn't help chuckle when the little dragon construct mimic Orochi's movements, like a cub following it's parents lead. "Thank's Orochi. That means a lot." He stood from his crouching position, dusting off a bit of dirt from his jeans.
At times Ryoga played the role of a benevolent deity, or at least a creature that had some semblance of wisdom. Though not that old, Ryoga did have some rather traditional or positive values when it came to things like family, or social support, namely a mixture of his delusional ego and Japanese customs. The boy said thanks, which was an obvious response to being given anything from a God, even just sage advice, but proper manners did always improve the dragon's mood.
"You are welcome little mortal, if I stay here long enough I shall expect great things from you." First you comforted someone, and then gave them a goal, a great way to motivate and encourage another person, something Ryoga understood quite well. His Father could motivate and lead anyone, his charismatic words and belief in the usefulness of others was quite excellent for a religious leader, and especially for a criminal one.
Ryoga turned and clambered back up his shrine a bit, taking a spot where he could stare off at the city as the sun continued to warm his visage. "What will you do with your power Alex? Now that you have this place at your back, and an education to further your ability?" He was curious what a mutant would aspire too in the future. Men always had a dream or goal, and many failed to meet them, but mutants were well above normal men. Would he aspire to something mundane like most men?

"You are welcome little mortal, if I stay here long enough I shall expect great things from you. What will you do with your power Alex? Now that you have this place at your back, and an education to further your ability?"
He watched Orochi clamber back to his perch and tilted his head at the question. "I actually never gave it any thought actually."he said, feet set to pacing. "Well as far as my powers go anyway. They've always just been a means to survival, a tool. It doesn't really have any practicality in modern life. But as for a career...No actually, I never really gave that any thought before either." He paused, hand on his chin in thought.
"I mean I never thought I'd get this far. I probably should have died before I ever got here. But now that I am here I've got no idea what to do..."he frowned, disappointed in his own lack of forward thinking. But that's what you got when you lived day to day. You never really got a chance to put any thought to bigger plans. He couldn't even remember what he might have wanted to be as a kid.
He glanced up at the dragon, a small smile playing on his lips. "Do you have any suggestions?"he asked curiously. Maybe a mighty god would know what his fate should be.
