The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

The dark skinned woman moved through the park with a no-nonsense air about her. She didn't want to talk to anyone. All she wanted was to find a quiet area to sit. The park used to comfort the young woman. Now it just set her nerves on end. She'd been away for too long.
Finally, Sarah spotted a smaller bench under a tree. There was no one near it. No bags placed to hold a spot. It would be perfect.
A huffed sigh exited her lips as she sat. Moving around so her sketchpad was on her lap, she began to look at the different people in the park.
Most people ignored her, used to the air of struggling artists. She didn't offer conversation either though. It wasn't as if she didn't want company. It was just harder for her to open up. Her father's death had hit her hard and she had yet to bounce back.
Shaking her head a little, Sarah went back to sketching the group of children playing soccer on the small field in front of her spot on the bench. There was no time to dwell on the past now. She had work to do.
Tses and Ty were back together. Their on again off again relationship seemed to be somewhere towards on again, even with the giant cockroach boss of his causing problems. She was back to stealing, which kept her on her feet while Ty was in a coma. The coma itself had pushed them back towards "off again", but they seemed to be working it out. Slowly.
Tses remembered a time she tried to change her life. Considered getting a real job and becoming a more respectable citizen. Once upon a time, she thought she could change her life around. Now it seemed that idea was nothing but a dream vanishing on the horizon.
Perhaps that's why it surprised her so much to see the young artists sitting in the park. Once upon a time, she had a normal conversation with this normal girl over a smoothie. And somehow, she sort of missed that day. Wished she could have it back. Even though the girl didn't seem quite as keen to talk today, Tses let herself approach, and leaned against a nearby tree, peering over her shoulder.
"An luck with the whole art thing?" She remarked in a casual way.
Sarah jumped at the voice behind her. Instead of coming right back down onto the bench she slipped off and landed hard on the ground.
"Don't sneak up on people," she huffed before looking at the person leaning against the tree.
Her eyes widened as she recognized the woman. It felt like an era ago since she had met the blonde. Their meeting and subsequent conversation had been over a year ago, but in light of things, it felt much longer. Tses, her mind supplied, had been someone she thought about when the Christmas season hit last year.
"Hey, been awhile," Sarah greeted. Remembering the question, the brunette forced more words from her lips. "Sell my stuff at a studio now so I only need to paint to pay my bills. How've you been?"
If Tses were a nicer person, she probably would have apologized for sneaking up on the girl and making her fall on her butt. Being the less than outstanding citizen that she was, she chuckled slightly and sauntered over without offering a hand up. But the smile was at least genuine. She was glad to see familiar faces that weren't actively trying to arrest or kill her...
"Sorry, force of habit. I've been okay. Same old same old. Not a lot changes in this city." She shrugged, avoiding going into detail with all the riots, mutant attacks, and general chaos the city had.
