The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

It was mid afternoon, the sun was still blazing in the typical summer heat as it had been for the last month or so. A medium height brunette girl wearing a flowery summer dress stalked into a store inside of the mall. She needed to go shopping. She didn't want to, she was in a foul mood from her argument with her sister. It wasn't very often that the two of them argued, Silia was the only person left from Cassandra's old life that she still had. She was the only piece of her family still there for her.
She had always been there for her and Cassandra always loved and respected her big sister, so when the two of them argued she felt like crap. She didn't even particularly like the dress she was wearing, however she knew that Silia loved to see her in dresses so she went for it. However after a while the conversation had drifted to her aunt and an argument had sparked, with several allegations being thrown about.
Cassandra was frustrated, mainly because she was afraid that her sister was right about a lot of things.
So here she was, doing the shopping because it wouldn't do to not have food in her apartment, not eating would mean she wouldn't be able to function correctly or even do her job, which would be rather bad for her. She slowly walked through the isles of the almost convenience store in the mall. When a drunken man stumbled past and knocked several things over. She sighed as she picked up a few items from the shelves and tossed them into her basket.
She was hoping that something. Anything interesting would happen. Meeting someone, anyone. Even a fight or mugging. She didn't care at this point. She just wanted to be distracted from her frustration at this moment. She released a sigh as she grabbed a couple of pieces of fruit.

Kneeling in an a small hallway leading to the mall bathrooms a little ways away from the convenience store, Alex ruffled the kittens fur. Enough to look clean and cute, but obviously homeless. The kitten didn't look to happy about it. "I know it's not the best situation. But it'll have to do. You remember the plan, right Mary?" he asked the construct mentally. The kitten gave him a pouting look. "Don't give me that look. I know, small bodies aren't fun. But it's our best bet. Now remember, look for a kind face."
He gave the little creature a shove out of the hallway and toward the door. Closing his eyes, he focused his vision on Mary's. He watched as the kitten snuck into the store unseen and looked about. Spotting a young woman over by the fruit area, he pointed her out, "There, there, her. Remember, be cute." He instructed the kitten, who walked up to her, purring softly and rubbing against her leg gently.
He opened his eyes, leaning against the wall, and let fate decide what the woman would do. If she kicked the kitten away, he'd just have to find another target. If he could find one. This usually worked on suburban and rural folk but he couldn't always be too sure of city people. He silently prayed that this would work. He didn't know how long he could stay here if he couldn't find food or something. Not without money.
He peeked around the corner waiting. He could sense his constructs position and vaguely see what it saw. But right now he had to watch the exit, make sure his target didn't walk away with his creation.
Cassandra felt something fluffy gently brush her leg, she suspected a passerby's dog but then remembered she was alone in the isle she was in and then looked down to see a rather adorable (But scruffy) kitten, which was nuzzling her leg as if looking for cuddles, or warmth or comfort or something. Cassandra had never really been a pet person, but she supposed they were better than most humans.
She gently bent down to the cat and petted it's head, to her pleasure the cat responded with a purr and a very gentle, slightly weak mew. She smiled at the cat and gently rustled it's fur. "So what's your name little one? Awww. Do you not have an owner?" She spoke in a very soft, but high voice.
She then stood up and grabbed a can of fruit and stuck it in her basket. Sometimes she wondered why she even bothered to shop here, the food wasn't great but it was cheap, even though she was rather well off. She could afford better food, she just chose not to.

Ignored, kind of. Not exactly what he was expecting. Especially not in a mall. He had half expected her to either pick the cat up or call store management. That's what usually happened anyway. But this wasn't an easy ploy and he would just have to roll with the punches.
It just looked like he'd just have to get involved right away. He had Marry follow the girl while he moved from the bathroom hallway to the store. Acting as if he was looking around for something. Once inside the store he spotted the kitten and trotted over. "Marry! There you are."he sighed in relief, picking the cat up. "I'm sorry miss, she wasn't bothering you was she?"he asked, cradling the kitten to his chest.
Well, either this would result in a conversation he could lead into something for his benefit or he would be ignored. But, then again, you could never really tell with folks like these, New York was just full of strange people. He just hoped this girl was as nice as she looked.
