The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Salem took one step onto the streets before her, and instantly felt the shiver run up her spine. "what am i doing here..." She asked herself, putting her hands in her long, black coat pockets as she looked around. People walked around, all of whom she could only assume to be fellow mutants. However, it didn't feel right. Most of the people who walked by had a look in their eyes, not the same violet coloring her eyes had, but a dark, sinister look. The man who told her about sanctuary made it seem like a mutant waste land, and so far, it seemed that way.
Salem pulled down her dark violet hat so that it was covering her eyes, and brushed some of the long, brunet hair out of her face. The girl took a deep sigh, slowly walked down the road before her. "This is stupid Salem..." she told herself, cracking her neck with her black gloved hands as her black flats tapped against the ground with every step she took.
Her entire body, except for the skin of her face and neck, was covered. She didn't want to risk anyone bumping into her and possibly getting hurt, and by the way some of the people here were acting, the likely hood of being bumped into here was extremely likely.
Seeing people wander around Sanctuary's grounds wasn't particularly unusual. There were always a few out, though whether it was just for a walk or to keep the residents visible Allison wasn't so sure. And with the recently warm(er) weather, more than usual were out enjoying the spring. Allison was among them, though more for sunlight and air that hadn't been locked inside for days than the still minimal warmth.
Seeing people skulk warily through the grounds like any movement might attack them was more unusual. True, there were always a few people in Sanctuary who were scared of the rest, but they tended to not wander around very much. Which meant this one was either just arriving, or just getting back, and either way hadn't yet learned that most people wouldn't bother you if you left them alone.
Well, what was more reassuring to most people than a young mother? Not that it was necessarily evident that Allison was a mother, since Alex wasn't with her and she still seemed to look younger than she was (still! You'd think pregnancy would have fixed that), but she could probably find a way to mention Alex fairly easily, and it wasn't like she looked intimidating anyway.
Well... not unless someone was particularly scared of mutants in general. If that was the case, though, it really would be best for them not to stay around Sanctuary, and Allison would probably be nicer about shooing them off than many. So she stood up from the steps where she'd been sitting and wandered over to stop in front of the girl wearing black. "Hello. Are you new here?"
Salem continued to walk slow an steady. She wasn't quite sure about this place, however, so far she hadn't been threatened to her muscles began to relax. After taking a slight breath, she began to talk to herself. "Okay, so it's not that bad..." She told herself. "I mean, i have been to worse places..." But had she? or was she just lying to herself to calm down her frightened body.
It wasn't long after, not even a few seconds, when someone walked up and began to talk with her. Salem turned, her body a bit shaky as she saw the girl, who was much older then she was, asking her if she was new. "Y-Yes..." she told the women, taking a step or two back. "Is it really that obvious?" she asked the women, brushing away some of the long, brunet hair from her face and out of the way from her eyes. "I was told that..." Her voice got softer. "This was a safe place, for mutants?" she asked. The girl she was talking to seemed nice enough that even if she were just an average human, and if Salem had been lied too, the n the girl would hopefully just politly tell her she was mistaken.
