The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Isabel was sulking again. Quite obviously, too. She was sulking because she had been placed back in the Guards' Barracks for cleaning duty once again. She was on cleaning duty again, and she had somehow gotten herself paired up with Emerald, one of those wolf sisters. True, it was the perfect chance to poke a little fun at the girl to see if she had the bite to back up her bark, which Isabel hadn't seen since their little game of tag back at King Pharmaceuticals. Unfortunately it was also a chance for the wolf girl to get her own little jabs in here and there. Really, the teasing wasn't doing anything for the girls' tempers, though much to Isabel's delight, Em's fuse seemed to be even shorter than her own, which provided seemingly endless entertainment. Just so long as the three or four supervising guards didn't cut in, that is. For the most part their lovely little escorts stayed out of their way, keeping mainly to the halls and out of the rooms the girls were cleaning, chatting among themselves. However, some of the looks that were shot in the young mutants' directions were a little more than unsettling.
Ever since that little incident between herself and James, Isabel hadn't exactly been the most overlooked mutant in the camps. Quite the contrary, it seemed that she'd been getting a lot more unwelcome attention since she'd left the Infirmary and word of the little scuffle had spread a bit. Of course, from some of the rumors she'd heard, that James guy had greatly exaggerated bits and pieces of the story in his favor. She'd managed to collect a nice range of bumps, bruises, and scrapes over the last few days, and as tempting as it was to revisit the Infirmary after seeing what that Colyn kid could do, she'd ultimately decided against it, as it would be just about pointless, and would only end up hurting the poor guy. And from the looks of her fellow, lupine inmate, Em had also been getting her fair share of beatings. Most likely due to her relation to the young fox girl, Ruby. It seemed like the both of them had been targeted as the favorite play things of at least a small group of guards, though it was possible that number would grow. Both girls were fairly resilient, and neither of them really stuck with the larger group of women in the camps, making them easier targets to pick out. Apparently having them both in the same area at one time made it easier for the guards to find their entertainment.
"Hey, Dog Breath, don't forget to smooth out the wrinkles," Isabel commented over her shoulder, grinning at Emerald as she worked on changing the bed's sheets and redressing the mattress in clean fabric. "You call that dusting, Bonehead? I could practically bathe in all the dust you're missing," the wolf girl threw right back. "Oh stuff it, Furball." "You just keep that feather duster moving, Skeletor." Each shot each other a less than civil glance, and both returning to their respective duties as one of the guards poked his head into the room and then stepped into the doorway, leaning a shoulder against the door frame and simply watching the pair of girls, pretending like he was actually performing his supervising duties, though the smirk on his face said otherwise. Isabel could only imagine what kind of things ran through these peoples' minds. Half the time it made her shudder just thinking about it. She bet that she could knock those thoughts straight out of the man's head, though, if she got the chance. And judging by the looks Em was shooting him, she was thinking much along the same lines.
Glancing over at the lupine and then at the guard and back, Isabel just went on dusting. Not like it was her fault if she had to dust over where the wolf girl stood, now was it? Nooo, of course not. "Come on, Fleabag, let's have ourselves a little fun," she prompted, slowing to a stop near Em and lazily running the feather duster over a small lamp that rested on a bedside nightstand, "Betcha I could at least make the majority of our little friends bleed before you even got warmed up." she gave a little grin as she saw the girl's wolf ears perk up a little, one swiveling slightly in the guard's direction as he shifted, leaning a little closer as if trying to hear what was being exchanged between the two girls. "I think I saw at least one of them messing with your little sister at some point." The split second in which the older sister froze cause a smirk to cross Isabel's features. That little comment had just about sealed the deal as far as she was concerned. "You're on, Pin Cushion. I accept your little challenge, and I'll add a twist. Whoever can take the most hits without making any kind of pained sound gets bonus points," Emerald replied, glancing over her shoulder and giving a positively feral grin to the guard, causing him to put his weight back on his feet, rather than against the door frame, and to glance out the door at his comrades, anticipating the trouble the girls were preparing to start. Oh this would be fun.
Taking the feather duster in both hands, Isabel broke the handle over her knee, dropping the half that was mostly just feathers. Honestly, why gave the mutant cleaning crew plastic-handled equipment? That was just careless. It wasn't anywhere near as good of a weapon as her own body could have been, but it would suffice for now. Almost as if following her lead, Emerald looked around briefly for something that would give her an edge, her eyes and then hands settling in the small lamp that sat atop the nightstand. Quickly unplugging the thing and ripping out the cord, she paused to appraise the strength of the wires. The lamp itself really wasn't heavy enough to do much damage, but with the cord, you could at least choke someone out, if not suffocate them to the point of death. Both of these girl had tried hand-to-hand, and both had failed, perhaps with a bit of leverage, some good would come of it. Honestly, the guards had their little remotes, why couldn't they find some toys to play with as well? Before Isabel could say anything else, Emerald had lunged, her cleaning partner hurrying to catch up. After all, what good was bragging if she was going to be proven wrong?
Seeing the two suddenly making a rush at him, the heavy set man at the door yelled for the three other guards who were chatting in the hall while at the same time fumbling to get a grip on a remote that he carried. Em beat Isabel to him, dropping to kick out his legs, the man's own excessive weight working against him as it sent him crashing to the ground, his head smacking off the wall on the opposite side of the hall. It only took a few more seconds for the lupine to land on top of him and to get the wire around his fat neck. Isabel nearly laughed at the wonderful shades of colors the man was turning. Grabbing at the door frame with one hand to help her turn sharply into the hall, Isabel rushed straight for the other three men, managing to sink her plastic handle into the stomach of the lankiest one in the group, grinning sadistically at the splatter of blood and the sickening sound of flesh and cartilage being shifted and sliced into. A grin which was quickly wiped from her face by one man's fist, knocking her back away from her doubled over victim and onto her backside while the fourth man in the group went after Em in an attempt to save the heavy man from dieing. Somewhere in the back of her mind, Isabel at least hoped he'd become brain damaged by this point. It would be one less competent idiot to worry about.
Isabel quickly went to get back to her feet, but the man that had thrown the punch had quickly stomped on a fold of fabric by her ribs, pinching a painful amount of skin along with it, effectively pinning her down and causing her to bite her tongue to prevent herself from yelping. She wriggled and squirmed and tried to scratch the man's ankles all to hell through his socks, but even if she had managed to get the fabric of her outfit out from under his heavy boots, there really wasn't much room left for her to maneuver in, since the halls were pretty narrow. Tilting her head back, she got an upside down view of the fourth guard trying to lift Em off of the heavy man and wrestle the cord from her hands, tossing the electrical wires further down the hall for later retrieval as he fought to get a firm hold on all her wriggling limbs. One of the girl's elbows did manage to crack him in the nose, making his head jerk back sharply before her got a fist in the Adam's apple. The expression on his face was enough to make Isabel burst out laughing, especially after the heel to the groin and the man's pained screams for the fat guard to get his ass up and help out, weather or not the man was dead seeming to be of little importance.
However, her laughter was quickly knocked out of her by a heavy boot to the ribs, forcing all the air from her lungs and making it painful to draw a fresh breath. Why was she always the one getting the wind knocked out of her? Irritatedly, her hands flew back to his ankle, managing to get a hold on his sock and yank it down, promptly sinking her teeth into the man's flesh, a loud howl ripped from his vocal cords and echoing down the hall. The mere thought of what a disgusting creature's blood was seeping into her mouth made Isabel gag, though it was soon her own blood that she tasted as another kick caught the side of her jaw, nearly knocking the bone out of place, though it managed to stay put with the slightest little effort of her mutation, earning her a nice zap from the bracelet. In her dazed state, she was just barely able to register the blurred sight of the guard above her pulling out a cloth and pouring something onto it. Rolling her eyes upward to look for Em, she sluggishly registered a very similar action from the guard that had gone after the wolf girl. He seemed to have finally wrestled her to the ground and now sat on top of her, preventing her from lashing out at him again. Her blurred visions didn't last long after she felt that cloth pressed to her face, everything quickly fading to black as the chloroform took effect.
Shaking his head in disgust and looking around at the mess the two girls had made, Guard Number Three grabbed Isabel's limp arm and hoisted her up, throwing her over his shoulder, not bothering to be any kind of gentle, Guard Number Four doing much the same with Emerald after drugging the wolf girl. "Little mutant freaks," Three commented, heaving a sigh, "They never do learn." Four pulled out a radio and made a call to the Infirmary to pick up the pair of bodies, not bothering to check for pulses or signs of respiration. Either way, the two injured men wouldn't be working much for a while. After examining his ankle and muttering something about rabies, Three irritably pulled a pair of handcuffs out of his back pocket and clamped each cuff tightly around one wrist of each of the girls. They were in for a heaping load of trouble once they came to.
I’m just a well-adjusted gal who likes to leave a serious amount of mayhem in her wake.
With a groggy groan, the wolf girl gradually came to, trying her best to clear the spots from her eyes. However, every time she lifted her hand she felt as if it was heavier than normal. When she finally opened her eyes, she was quite surprised to find herself handcuffed to Isabel. The bone girl was still unconscious but Em had a feeling she would regain her senses soon.
In the meantime the wolf girl began examining the room they were now imprisoned in, taking it all in as best as she could. They were obviously still in the guard’s barracks, she could tell by the vague scent of the air, however this was a room she had not yet been in. This room was similar to the one that Bloodfang had put her in when he was toying with her except this one was a lot more…morbid looking. It actually brought her back to the days of her past within the punishment room she was so often placed in.
The room was rather large, though one couldn’t tell that by all of the various devices all over the room. In one corner there was a wall, with shackles attached to it, smeared with blood and long marks that were too small to be claw marks.
‘Fingernails.’ The wolf girl thought to herself with a visible look of disgust on her face.
Emerald looked around again, getting up on her knees, she saw various whips and knives all lined up on a table. The Lupine girl also saw more shackles along the walls , all having some sort of torture device of choice next to it, a whip, a hammer, a bat, stapler and a syringe filled with some kind of blue liquid.
Emerald kept scanning the room seeing all the other various torture devices, however, the one thing that caught her eye was a rather large table. This table had four metal rungs on it, two at the top and two at the bottom, there was also blood on this table. Upon further inspection, one would notice to handprints on ether side of the rungs, they smelled deeply of perspiration from what Emerald could tell from the scent she got from them. This brewed in the wolf girls head for a moment before her eyes widened, all the dots in her head connecting.
“This is sick.” She snarled in distaste. “Male human’s stench is all over this room and all over the table. I don’t even have to go over there to smell it, I feel sorry for the poor mutant who was on that table.”
Emerald then felt a shift on the chain and she glanced over at the former bow wearing bone girl. The girl looked around irritably, tugging her arm that was attached to the chain roughly, causing Emerald to stumble forward. The Lupine female landed next to Isabel, catching herself before she could face plant on the ground.
“Hey bone brain we are chained together.” The wolf girl growled, blowing a piece of Crimson hair out of her face.
“I figured that out as soon as you fell over here Furball.” The bone girl replied coldly
Emerald then noticed Isabel’s eyes flicker around the room, almost as if taking everything in like she had done moments earlier. Isabel drew in a deep sigh, glancing over at Emerald.
“Looks like we have gotten ourselves into mess that we won’t be able to get ourselves out of very soon. It would seem to be our luck wouldn’t it? ” Isabel told the Emerald, giving her a weary smile.
Emerald smiled back; still woozy from the chloroform they drugged her with. This made the wolf girl think that it wasn’t only chloroform in that concoction, it took a lot to make her feel this woozy and she now had a sinking feeling that she wouldn’t be able to recover from this quickly. By the look on Isabel’s face, she assumed that the bone girl was thinking the same thing.
“Well, well, well, looks like our guests our awake.” One of the guards said a smug grin on his face. His face looked like that of a duck, with a long upper lip and a short lower one, but his hands looked like that of a fully grown silverback gorilla. This was one of those guys that most people didn’t mess with and it would seem that the two mutant girls were in for some trouble.
“Lets see how far the can fly when one is hit.” He stated swinging his massive arm at Isabel.
However, the arm was stopped by Emerald’s face, but not just her face, her face with a mouth filled with Sharp wolven teeth. Emerald had known she wouldn’t have been able to fight him with her arms or legs because they felt like jelly at that moment. But by throwing her body forward she had managed to hit the target she was aiming for, despite getting some facial damage in the process.
Emerald stayed clamped down, growling like crazy even as he swung her around, swinging Isabel around as well. Emerald was eventually forced to let go and was thrown back into the wall, Isabel landing on top of her. She heard the guards laughing at her, but figured it was worth it to do some damage to the leaders arm. He was now nursing his wound, trying to stop the bleeding from the deep puncture wounds on his arm.
“Well…I feel Better” Emerald groaned, sliding herself out from under Isabel. She was gradually able to use her arms for simple things so she used them to help her sit back up.
Isabel looked at the wolf girl, a glare that could probably melt stone. “Well I’m glad you feel better. I was just thrown into a wall by some stupid guard who had a mutt attacked him! Why did you do that anyways?”
Emerald grinned coyly at Isabel. “Number one, I needed to make a guard bleed for locking us up in here. Number two, I don’t like him and Number three,” Emerald paused, the grin spreading wider across her face. It was strange; she hadn’t smiled like that for a few weeks now. “I couldn’t let him hurt my new partner in crime. Could I Issie?”
((I’ll let you do the reaction to Emerald as well as the next guard torture. As you can see Emerald is enjoying having a partner in crime as you can tell by her now calling Isabel a nickname that better suits her..))
One eyebrow quirked in a mixture of both surprise and confusion at the sudden switch in nicknames that the lupine used when addressing Isabel. The strangest sense of relief, and even comfort washed over her at the sound of that name: Issie. It sounded so familiar somehow. Someone had spoken that nickname to her before, someone she'd known outside of the camps, though in her current state of mind she couldn't quite recall who it had been, which bothered her immensely. Even something as simple as being unable to recall which of her friends had pinned which nicknames to her didn't sit right within the young mutant's mind. When she got out of this awful room, she'd be sure to try and recall a few trivial things from life outside the camps. Maybe that would help something, though she wasn't exactly sure what it would help, except perhaps in making her feel a little more at ease. And she would get out of this room, even if she had to kill everyone here to do it, with the exception of the wolf girl, of course. How could she leave her newest 'Partner in Crime'? Isabel hadn't really been making friends in the camps, and the prospect of another person backing her up in her mischief making may be exactly what she needed to lift her spirits a bit. Losing any of the shock her expression may have originally held, her features shifted into a wide, wicked looking grin. "Well, I can't argue with that logic. I may have to take those points into account sometime. There are a lot of people around here that would fit nicely into those guidelines," she replied, shifting her position a bit as feeling began returning to her numbed limbs. Silently she found herself hoping the bite wound that she gave to the guard that had drugged her got infected. Maybe they'd have to amputate his leg. Now wouldn't that be lovely? Though it would be a terrible shame if she didn't get to cut the limb off herself.
However, Isabel's pleasant little thoughts of mutilation were abruptly cut short by a sudden shooting pain in her skull, her free arm shooting up to try and stop whatever it was that was yanking her around. Reaching her free arm back, her fingers grasped at the fist that had tangled itself in her hair, trying to pry apart the fingers as she was dragged over the floor. Her other arm ached as the added weight of the wolf girl was dragged along with her for a short distance before the lupine seemed to gather her footing and struggled to her feet, somewhat pulling Isabel up with her."Recess is over, ladies. Cut the chit chat," the brutish man said, raising his arm up into the air so his hand rested nearly at his eye level, which also pulled Isabel the rest of the way to her feet and then some, effectively putting all her weight on her scalp, a sharp gasp filling her lungs, her eyes widening as the pain registered in her mind and shot through her head like an innumerable amount of needles. Somewhere in the static mess her mind was in, she could hear Emerald growling like crazy, though the feeling of the tugging on her handcuffed arm was lost in all the mental commotion. Shakily her free hand was still grabbing at the man's fingers, though she didn't seem to be able to get a good enough purchase on any one of the digits, making it impossible for her to pry his hand apart and release the pressure in her head. She could feel small trickles of blood start to slowly snake their way across her skin as small bits of flesh were torn apart or removed entirely as her hair was twisted and pulled. A few small rivulets slid down her face, narrowly missing her eyes and moving on to sluggishly crawl over her cheeks toward her chin.
But just as quickly as she was hefted into the air, she was dropped again, falling to the rough concrete floor like a sack of potatoes, her knees and the palm of one had striking the ground painfully, her skin tearing once more as the skin was scarped, blood shallowly seeping out of the minor wounds here and there. Her cuffed arm yanked her painfully to the side again, a grimace crossing her features as her shoulder threatened to dislocate with the weight and the odd angle the limb had been pulled in. Emerald was at it again, drawing blood at any chance she could get, using those teeth of hers again, the guard grunting with the exertion it took trying to keep the girl at arms length. Vindictively Isabel slid herself across the ground, toward the towering man, shooting a leg out in his direction and putting as much weight as she could into the kick. Her foot struck hard against the man's kneecap, causing his leg to snap straight as his knee tried to bend backward, an evil grin sliding to her features as she managed to drag a yowl from his throat. "Don't just stand there you useless bastards! A little help would be appreciated here!" he snapped at the two other men who had been casually examining a few of the tools that were lying around the room and once or twice checking the locks that had been secured on the door."You! Fetch me that muzzle that's hanging over on that wall. And you! Get this little demon up off the floor!" he barked again, the other two giving a start before quickly moving to do as they'd been told. The brute that had been taking the abuse thus far had managed to get a large hand on Emerald, his fingers nearly able to wrap all the way around her throat as he held her out at arm's length, trying to avoid her sharp teeth and her flailing legs. As one lackey struggled to get the leather straps fastened around the wolf girl's head, the other was having trouble just holding on to Isabel and avoid getting himself damaged in the process. The bone manipulating girl had long ago repressed the developing nervous habit of biting her nails once she'd realized they could come in use to her if they were longer. And she used them to her advantage any chance she could get. Like right now. Didn't those scratches along the man's right cheek just make him look so much more distinguished? And that blood that was running down her face and neck? It made a nice natural lubricant, now didn't it? A few good smears on her arm, and the guard could barely get a grip on her, even int he limited amount of space she had to maneuver in.
After a swift knee to the groin, she turned away from the downed guard and focused her attention over to the two that had Emerald. Even in the position she was in, Em was somehow handling herself fairly well. The man with the muzzle in his hands still hadn't managed to get the thing on the lupine's face. He could hardly get close enough with those legs of hers swinging every which way. However, Isabel could see her movements slowing as the hand around her throat slowly tightened, constricting her air way and causing the girl to gasp for air. "Wanna give me a hand here?" Emerald wheezed, somehow managing to get a toe of sarcasm to enter her strangled voice. Biting her tongue to keep from verbalizing any equally as sarcastic replies, Isabel instead moved to help. Grabbing at the brute's wrist, she only momentarily searched for a vein before digging her nails into the skin, aiming for those lovely blue lines. Another angered cry issued from the guard as he dropped Emerald, his free hand grabbing the back of Isabel's dress and pulling hard, causing her fingers to lose purchase in the man's skin. The moment she let go, she was slammed into the ground, hard. Colors exploded before her eyes, blocking out any other visuals as her head struck the concrete painfully, along with the rest of her body. For a moment all she could do was lay there, dazed and disoriented, trying to blink away the spots that danced in front of her eyes. Freed of the distraction of Isabel for the moment, the guards were free to get a hold of Emerald and finally muzzle the young girl, eliminating the problem of her tearing their skin off in chunks with her teeth.
Slowly Isabel was trying to push herself up into a sitting position as blackness was eating away at the edges of her vision. The first rule for one that's gotten a concussion: don't fall asleep. This young mutant was determined to remain conscious. After everything she'd been through, she wouldn't let something as simple as a concussion be the thing to finally drag her down. Hearing the colorful choice in Emerald's speech as the girl wriggled, spat and screamed in anger, Isabel turned her head over to see her still very close, but trapped in the arm of one of the guards, his other hand wrapped around her neck as his fingers pushed hard into the pressure points there, effectively further restricting her movement for the moment. But where had the other two gone? She didn't have to wait long for the answer. The sudden feeling of a hand around her free wrist drew her attention away from the lupine and back to herself, as she was pulled a few inches over, preventing either her or Emerald from making use of their cuffed hands as the limbs were pulled tight, and again her hair was used against her as her already pounding head was pulled back down to the ground, hitting the concrete once more, though thankfully this time there was no colors rising to blind her. The next thing she was aware of was an immense pressure being placed on her lower abdomen as the seeming leader of this whole set up placed a knee down on either side of her and sat all of his weight in her stomach and pelvis, forcing the air from her lungs and causing her to gasp in order to get any kind of decent breath. Isabel glared positive murder at the large man as he took hold of her wrist, her own hand looking tiny in comparison to his own massive one. The second guard had kneeled down by her head once the other had settled, one of his hand still buried in her hair while the other was placed across her forehead, preventing her from lifting her head or moving her neck.
Threats and swears buzzed through the air as they issued from the observing wolf mutant, though anything said seemed to be easily ignored by the guards. After all, they weren't the ones that had been restrained, now were they? If only looks could kill. The glares both girls were shooting looked as if they could melt stone, and never before had Isabel wished she could strip flesh from bone simply by looking at a person, especially when a grin crossed the large man's features. "Now, now, Kitten, what's that look for?" the guard cooed, the sickening change in his voice causing a shiver to run up her spine and a disgusted grimace to come to her face. "You brought this upon yourself, you know. You and that rabid dog you consult with," he continued, shooting a glance over at Emerald, whose threats only increased in number and volume as he turned back to look down on Isabel. Casually he rolled her hand around in his own, twisting it this way and that, and forcing her fingers to uncurl, looking as if he were examining each of the digits. Isabel could feel her heart rate speeding up once more, her breathing becoming all the more ragged as a sense of panic began setting in. Not once in these camps had she been brought to this room, and not once had she been effectively restrained in such a way as she currently was. She didn't like it one little bit, nor did she like the look on the guard's face as his gaze occasionally flitted from her hand to her face. Something was wrong, and she knew it. Just what the hell was he up to?
"I've heard quite a few complaints about you and these lovely fingernails of yours. It seems you've become quite a nuisance to not only the guards, but also to the medical staff. Do you even know how many rabies shots have been given out since you decided to make a bigger pest out of yourself? Do you know how many rabies shots I have to get now? he inquired as he looked back to the young girl that lay beneath him. Isabel simply spat at him in response, showing exactly how much she cared for the man's medical future. Wiping the spittle from the front of his shirt, a dangerous element entering his expression. That's what I thought," he said, one of his hands reaching to pull something out of his back pocket. Isabel's eyes widened as a pair of pliers glinted under the hanging lamps while he shifted them in his hand, his other hand gripping tighter to hers as she tried to pull her arm back away from him. She let out a strangled sounding yelp as one of her nails was gripped by the pliers and painfully bent back. "The way I see it, even the most harmless of cats should be de-clawed, don't you agree, Kitten?" he continued, twisting the pliers before ripping the nail out as he spoke, as if using it for emphasis, a sadistic smirk lighting up his face as Isabel screamed and squirmed beneath him. "Quick like a band-aid, huh? Let's see how much trouble you can cause now when your hands aren't as much of a bother to us all. And that dog of yours? I think we'll file her teeth down nice and flat, like a normal person's should be. Or, since neither of you are really people, maybe we'll just yank them all out." Tears were starting to well up in the bone girl's eyes as he finger throbbed painfully, the salty droplets spilling over her cheeks and another scream echoing through the room as another nail was yanked from her fingertips, blood starting to drip down onto her outfit, spreading and pooling in the fabric that rested on her chest.
‘Damn it to hell’ Emerald screamed in her mind as she heard Isabel’s screams pierce through her groggy state.
The wolf girl had not yet been fully restrained, the only thing that was restrained was her dangerous teeth, and this didn’t mean her mouth was restrained. She was pissed to say the least, her new partner in crime was getting tortured and she couldn’t do anything about it. At this moment, Emerald had to think of some way to help Isabel, even if that meant causing pain for her. Yes, the wolf girl knew it was stupid to risk her life for someone she hardly knew, but she had to say that this was indeed the hero within her that was now showing its face. Our dear Emerald was now remembering what Isabel did for her perhaps moments ago and figured it was time for her to return the favor; she heard another cry cut through air, blood now seeping over on her side of the handcuffs.
The males had pinned Emerald down by her arms making her unable to get up, but they seemed to forget about her flailing legs that could easily do damage if necessary. With most of the guards attentions set on Isabel’s pain Emerald figured now would be the best time to act and the best time to kick some ass. With Anger burning through her veins Emerald tilted her body to the side so she would have access then lashed out at the guard who was pulling at Isabel’s fingernails, managing to kick his foot as hard as she could.
The man let out a grunt of pain before turning his attention to the wolf girl, noticing a smirk that crept across her face when he dropped Isabel’s hand, leaving two fingernails left on it. He heard the Bone girl breathe out in relief as well when he stopped his brutal assault.
“So the puppy wants to play eh?” He asked that horrible smirk still on his face.
“Yea she does, and I bet you your mom did last night.” Emerald replied with that coy grin still on her face.
The mans face was a mask of rage and suddenly his foot was pressed upon her stomach causing her to wheeze out precious air. She heard Isabel’s weak laughter at her comment and couldn’t help but smile. This smile soon faded when she was hauled up by her hair, similarly to what the did to Isabel, the wolf girl gritted her teeth as she glared at the male.
“I was gonna pull out you teeth but I’m gonna do something you’re familiar with.” He laughed at her manically as he grabbed lifted her, flailing body up and dropped her back down so she was flat on her stomach. Her breath left her chest all at once and she attempted to gasp for more air, just as she felt the back of her shirt rip open.
The wolf girl now knew what the male was talking about when he mentioned something she was familiar with. However, as soon as she managed to regain her bearings she was thrust directly back into pain again when she felt a resounding crack echo in the room. It was that of leather hitting flesh and it sounded awfully painful.
You could not tell by the look on the wolf girls face however, or the sounds emanating from her mouth. The sounds sounded more like growls an threats than cries of pain, which is exactly what they were. Emerald was not going to give up her fight just yet and she felt like screaming made her loose so she was determined not to let a scream escape her lips. She felt the whip come down again on her bare back and she winced in pain, knowing that there would no doubt be a lot more where that came from.
The two males that Held Isabel before where far more cautious now and they decided to split up, one by Emerald’s leg to keep her from kicking and one by Isabel to try to keep her from helping the wolf girl. Of course Emerald didn’t want Isabel to help her, she felt like the girl needed time to recover from having her nails pulled out and this was the perfect time to do it.
“Looks like the girly may be used to rough treatment.” The man keeping her legs held, commented running his hands down her back across her long ropey scars, causing her to shudder.
The brute grinned when he saw Emerald’s hand closest to Isabel clench into a fist, as if trying to crush them without even looking at them. He then struck Emerald’s back again and again with the horrid weapon, not even feeling a shudder from her.
This continued for quite some time the steady metronome of pain going through the wolf girl’s body, the sound of leather smacking against flesh that was now covered in blood and finally the angered growls of the wolf girl.
She knew that her back was absolutely torn up at that moment, as well as the fact that knew scars would most likely form from this painful experience but to her it was all worth it to help a friend. Emerald glanced at Isabel, smiling coyly at her through her pained growls, the girl almost looked…concerned for Emerald which surprised the wolf girl to say the least.
“What are you looking at Skeletor?” The wolf girl managed out before another harsh bark escaped her lips.
“Why are you doing that? Why are you taking hits for me?” Isabel asked, looking a little confused.
“I already told you that you are my partner in crime and I can’t let you get hurt.” Emerald told Isabel before gasping in pain.
“You’re being stupid we should both take this treatment not just you.” Isabel replied to the pained Lupine.
“It’s Okay Issie, I’m fine, and I don’t want anything bad to happen to my friend that’s all.” Emerald breathed out before sudden pain ripped through her back again, but this time it wasn’t from the whip.
The Main brutish male now was sitting on Em’s waist and had dug his fingers into her back and started to twist them in. The pain finally overwhelmed the wolf girl, and everything she had been through in the past few months all came out in a loud pained howl that seemed to echo throughout the room escaped her lips. She wasn’t able to escape it this time she couldn’t hold back her pained cries as he dug his salt covered hands into her open wounds causing her to snarls ferally at them.
The Brute seemed to take great pleasure of this, due to the fact that he finally got the wolf girl to scream seemed to be an accomplishment for him. So he continued his assault on her open wounds causing Emerald to writhe and squirm underneath him. She refused to scream again after than but she still growled in pain, trying her best to keep herself in check so she would show any weakness again. Emerald was now irate that she had screamed infront of Isabel, the other girl now knowing that it was possible to make the wolf girl scream, it just took a while.
“Hey is, do you miss your bed as much as I miss mine?” Emerald asked Isabel, gritting her teeth together.
It would probably suffice to say that Isabel was effectively stunned by Emerald's actions. She couldn't remember a time when someone had deliberately put themselves in harms way to save her sorry hide. Not to this extent, at least. Honestly, what was wrong with that wolf girl? Isabel visibly winced whenever the whip had struck, and she couldn't keep a straight face when the girl had screamed, either. She could only manage to squeak out a small "Yeah," at the inquiry about the bed as her mind worked to catch up with everything else that was going on. Really, who the hell asks a question like that in such a situation? Unless it was just another way to piss off the guards. And knowing both Em and Issie, that was always one of their top priorities around the camps. Alright then, if that was the game Em was playing, the bone girl was more than happy to join in. Letting any and all horror that may have been held in her expression drain away, Isabel simply grinned. "Any bed other than the poor excuse for a mattress I've got here would be a piece of heaven to me. But, what I really miss is getting to disembowel people with my oh so lovely mutation. I remember I once cut a guy clean in half for trying to jump me. And that was years ago. Just imagine what I could do now. I can be very creative when I want to," she said, sighing wistfully despite the pain she was in, trying to ignore the throbbing in her three now bare fingers. Fingernails grew back, but if either Em or herself were hurt too badly, something may be irreversible. And she just wouldn't have that. Out of the corner of her eye she caught the nervous shifting of the man that was restraining her, which only caused her grin to grow. "Oh, looks like we've got a skittish one here, Em," she commented, watching the girl's face as the lupine tried to keep back any traces of pain as she grit her teeth and smirked. "I could have a lot of fun with you," Isabel continued, looking back up at the young guard, a wicked element coloring her grin. "Have you ever wondered what it's like to be an amputee? Or maybe a paraplegic?" she inquired, her tone practically dripping with fake innocence, her expression quickly altered to match. The expression on the guy's face was priceless. "Really, dear, you should get some men who aren't quite so jumpy," she said, addressing the man that had sat himself on Emerald, though instead of answering, he simply looked at her, smiled almost pleasantly and once again dug his fingers into the lupine's wounds, effectively dropping the grin from Isabel's features as Em growled again with the sharp pains.
With a small huff, Isabel turned her attention back to the jumpier one. "Your friend's very rude, you know that? It's only polite to at least respond to someone when they're talking to you. Especially if it's a young woman. You saw that attitude, right? Positively appalling," she commented to the young man, make an effort to sound offended, getting the strangest look from the guard in the process. Well alright then, if he didn't want to sit and chat with her, she'd just find some other way to entertain herself. And seeing as these idiots had decided that in her current finger bleeding, possibly concussed state, it would be enough to simply restrain her shoulders and try pinning her down that way. So be it. Bending her legs at the knee, she used one foot to push her lower half up, curling at her midsection in order to bring her other leg up, and smashed her foot into the man's nose, grinning at the loud crunch that sounded as the bone gave away beneath the pressure. And look at that! No more restraints on her shoulders. Quickly she sat up, and just as quickly she decided that had been a bad idea once she began to sway a little in dizziness. Oh? And what was that? Was that a pair of pliers that had carelessly been discarded in anger when a certain wolf girl had kicked at a certain burly guard? And look what was now in Isabel's hand. Was that the same pair of pliers that had been quickly snatched up? Why yes, yes it was. Immediately Isabel went to work on the handcuffs that held her and Emerald together. Everything would be so much easier if the two were able to use both arms. As the bloodied guard scrambled to get hold of her again, she used both the leverage from the pliers as well as her weight as she was pulled back to bend apart on of the links that held the cuffs together. "Well well. You're not quite as dumb as you look," Em commented with a joking sort of grin. "No, but apparently they are," the bone girl replied, swinging the pair of pliers around before the young guard could wrestle it from her grip, and plunging it into the side of his neck, squeezing the two handles together hard and breaking right through one of the man's main arteries, dropping him in seconds.
Scrambling to her feet, she made for the table with all the dangerous looking instruments on it, taking full advantage of her newly gained separation from the lupine. Don't just stand there you idiot! Go and get her!" the head honcho snapped, the lackey quickly moving to do as he was told after trying to shake the image of the copse that now lay on the ground in an every growing pool of its own blood. Releasing Emerald's ankles, he quickly got to his feet and moved after Isabel. However, getting caught again was not in the formerly ribboned girl's plans. After Emerald's little display there, she wasn't just going to sit back and do nothing. A strange feeling of protectiveness had gripped her after seeing the treatment Emerald was enduring, though it was probably the fact that the lupine had done it to help her that was really getting to the girl. And that bloody whip that had been carelessly tossed back onto the table had Isabel's name written all over it. Her fingertips just grazed over the weapon's handle when something caught her ankle, stopping her in her tracks and dropping her to the ground, her chin and then her nose smashing off of the table's edge and splattering blood all over the place on the way down. Her chin would need stitches after this, and it felt as if her nose had finally been broken. Groaning in severe discomfort, she rolled onto her back and kicked out with her free leg, trying to get the guard to release her once more. She was so damn close! "Let go, you sleazy scumbag!" she shouted angrily, planting the heel of her foot hard against his collar bone, twisting her leg as the man's fingers tried to grab hold of her. A second kick aimed at his temple was enough to loosen his hold on her enough that she could finally wriggle away. Frantically twisting to her feet she snatched up the whip, and as another split second decision, grabbed up a small knife with a serrated blade as well.
Bashing the floundering guard over the head with the handle of the whip, Isabel scrambled to pick her way over to Emerald. "You're dead, freak. Even if I have to cut your throat myself, I swear you're not walking out of this room," the lead guard threatened as he got up off of Emerald, only to plant a foot down on her back to prevent her from getting up. Isabel skid to a stop as he stood, looking from him to Emerald and back. Even when she was standing he was still much larger than she was, and when one is bleeding and hurting as much as Issie was, the prospect of going hand to hand with a brute like the guard never looked too appealing. "Don't worry yourself over the dog, Kitten. I'll be sure to take good care of her. You, however seem to be more trouble than you're worth. What do you think of euthanization? I'm sure no one will miss one insignificant little girl." he continued, switching his tone back over to the sickly sweet one, though his expression showed every bit of malice that he hid vocally. Glaring daggers at the man, Isabel swung the whip, finding it more difficult to maneuver than she'd first thought. It didn't exactly help that the pounding in her head and the amount of blood she was losing was starting to blur her vision a little. Aiming to wrap the end of the whip around the man's neck, she only found herself failing miserably as he raised his arm, allowing the end of the whip to wrap around his wrist, only the faintest of winces coloring his expression. Isabel's glare faded into a dumbstruck expression as the whip was given a hard yank, her release on the handle too slow, causing her to stumble forward and toward the brute. As she tried to gain her footing, her upper arm was grabbed roughly and squeezed hard, causing her to drop her weapon. Quickly she also dropped the knife, sending it noisily skipping toward Emerald, hoping the girl could snatch it up before the lackey could stop whining long enough to notice what was going on around him. "Forget cats. Let's see how many ways there are to skin a mutant."
I’m just a well-adjusted gal who likes to leave a serious amount of mayhem in her wake.
Emerald was relieved to say the least that the massive male was no longer sitting on her but the fact that his foot was pressed down upon her back was most troublesome indeed. What Emerald had come to the conclusion of was the fact that right now while she was forcefully face planted down on the floor a great battle was taking place. This made her very angry, how dare Isabel start the fight without her! It was only courteous to wait for your partner in crime to be able to move before you go off and start the fight on your own terms.
This however, did not seem to be the case this time so at that moment Emerald would have to make due with what she had. What she had however was a face full of dust from the floor, a possible knew friend fighting for her safety as well as Emeralds and a knife right next to her hand. Well the knife did make this game that these girls where currently playing a hell of a lot more interesting this could be said in the least. With a grimace clearly planted upon her wolven features Emerald picked up the knife next to her and with great ferocity slammed it into the Ankle of the foot that was planted firmly onto of her back. She heard a roar of pain as well as the feeling of the mans blood pooling around the knife.
Emerald removed the knife, allowing the lead brute to bleed out, making him let go of Isabel in order to stop the bleeding, and giving both girls plenty of time for a little revenge. The wolf girl watched as Isabel wrapped the whip around the mans fat neck, dragging him to the floor where Emerald was. Em got up wobbly, still weakened from her lovely session with him. She watched coldly as Isabel tied the whip around his neck then around the leg of a table to keep him from going anywhere. The bone girls eyes met Emeralds and as if knowing what the Lupine wanted to do Isabel ripped the back of the mans shirt.
“I’ll let you do the honors.” Isabel told Emerald with that evil smirk of hers.
Now, one must be thinking was Emerald herself sinking to the level to that of the man who had been torturing her just moments before, because it did seem that way. The answer to this was, no, at least in Emerald’s eyes. The fact that she had been oppressed ever since she had gotten here made her forget about the difference between right and wrong, the only thing she lived by now is rules of that of a wolf pack. Protect your family; protect those who are in your pack at all costs no matter what. These men had been hurting Emerald’s family, teammates and her newly made friends, what she was about to do was a little crime and punishment.
Emerald took the knife, casually glancing at Isabel who had decided to punch out the terrified guard who was holding some strange device, something Emerald took no heed of as her work began. She made long cuts across the guards back, long thin cuts so they would sting. These cuts each trickled out a small ammount of blood, not enough for death but just enough for a considerable ammount of discomfort. The wolf girl continued this for quite a while, listening vaguely to Isabel’s ‘playthings’ screams as she did who knows what to the man. When she was done the Brutes entire back was covered in long scars, not an area of his skin had been untouched by the wolf girl’s knife. Finally, the coupe de grace was adding the final ingredient, salt. Emerald played no expense when she discovered the salt he had used on her and began to pour it all over his back.
The screams of pain of the man finally pierced Emerald’s determined face and she paused for a moment, but then she remembered that he was one of the guards that was messing with Ruby the other day, giving her the looks that she knew far to well and Emerald continued to pour. She blocked out his screams for a while, watching the blood mix with salt in a tantalizing dance of pain and suffering. Finally, she took the knife and cut the leather off the muzzle she had been wearing, tossing the knife aside.
“How do you like it?” She asked with a growl, digging her fingernails into his back, with one last scream the brute finally faded in unconsciousness and Emerald staggered over to a wall, sitting down against it. The excruciating pain she was feeling from the sudden strain of her wounds made her cringe in pain. The wolf girl had been amazed she had managed to stop the bleeding but now the wounds had been reopened and she had started to bleed again.
Suddenly, her arm was jerked back and she whipped around only to see Isabel standing there with some bandages and ointment. The confused look on the wolf girl’s face no doubt asked the question she was planning on asking.
“They had it in one of the drawers; apparently they must use it for any of guards that get hurt by the prisoners in here.” Isabel told her, looking at Emerald’s face with uncertainty.
“Yea that makes sense…What?” Emerald asked with a tilt of her head.
“I have tried to kill you and yet you risked your life to save mine. Any reason for that?” Isabel asked, applying the ointment on Emerald’s wounds.
“Well I think we are partners now Isabel, considering the fact that we are the favorite punching bags of the guards here,” Emerald explained with a light laugh escaping her lips. “Not only that, I guess…that’s the x man side of me that did that. I don’t like to an X men most of the time because we do fight for people that most of the time hate us but, if I can save one person and change their opinion about mutants or myself for that matter, that’s all that counts for me.”
“You make no sense dog breath, “Isabel commented, beginning to bandage the wolf girl’s wounds.
“I make no sense? You are the one who is not letting me bleed to death right now by treating my wounds. Not only that but you probably could have escaped this place by now and yet you stayed behind and saved me.” Emerald responded coyly.
“I think we may be allies, you and I, Miss Mutt.” Isabel commented
There was a brief moment of silence between the two before Isabel finally spoke up.
“You have scars like this already on your back…any reason for that? Partner?” Is asked, finishing up the job and moving to sit infront of the wolf girl.
Emerald tensioned immediately, letting only a small bit of apprehension show on her face. “It is none of your business, Partner.”
Isabel quirked a brow curiously at the response she'd received from the wolf girl. Oh, she'd heard the old 'none of your business' statement before, but for someone as curious and persistent as she was, it rarely held her off for very long. "Aw, come on, Em. Why not? You know I'll never drop this subject if I'm curious enough. And I am curious," she prompted, tentatively rubbing a bit of ointment on her cut up chin, wincing slightly whenever her finger ran over a particularly sore spot before moving on to a few cuts and scrapes on her cheek and forehead, and finally applying it to the scrapes on her hands and knees. "Because it's personal, that's why," the lupine responded, still eying Isabel apprehensively as the formerly ribboned girl pushed the bandages and ointment off away from her, as they were no longer really needed. "Oh please. Take a look around," Isabel retorted, swinging one blood smeared arm out to the side as if trying to get Emerald to the reality of the situation. "Remember were we are? Hmm? Short dresses, if they can even be called that, sleazy guards poking and prodding at all of the inmates in more ways that one, cameras in most places. There's no such thing as privacy within these walls. You show me your scars, proverbial and non, and I'll show you mine." A small, almost accomplished kind of smile turned up the corners of her mouth as Emerald regarded her thoughtfully. She was breaking the canine down, and she new it. "Spill it," she added, throwing in that last little verbal push that she hoped would break the girl down. "Alright, fine, I'll tell you some of it. But, you don't go spreading it around anywhere, Bonehead. I like to think I have a few secrets left to me." Isabel's smile brightened slightly as she nodded her head, agreeing to the other's terms as she brought her knees up and wrapped her arms around them. Story time.
"Well, everything really started with my Mother. She's a mutant just like I am, and so are my two sisters. My Father's the only human in the family," she began, pausing only a moment as if to gather her thoughts before inhaling slowly and resumed. "Well, to make a long story short, my Mother was caught by a man named Fusionist, who derives some sick pleasure out of experimenting on mutants. She escaped, but my sisters and I were eventually caught and imprisoned as well. These scars I have are what remain of the punishments I endured for disobeying Fusionist's orders. I killed all of his goons eventually and we were able to escape. I never did find the Doctor, but I swear I'll get him some day. she continued, her voice lowering into more of a growl with the last statement, her hands clenching into fists as her teeth were bared slightly and she glared down at the concrete floor. "That's all you're gonna get out of me, Is. Even if there is no privacy in this place, I'm going to hold onto whatever secrets I can. At least until I'm good and ready to let them out." A customary pout decorated Isabel's features when she found she would be cheated out of hearing the full Lupin story. Apparently her 'no privacy' shpeal hadn't gotten quite as far as she'd hoped it would. Maybe eventually she'd get the whole thing out of Emerald, or if nothing else, a few pieces here and there to help piece the story together herself. It would at least give her something to think about while they were stuck in this awful place. It was just better to keep your mind busy, rather than allowing everything to get to you. If one didn't exercise their mind somehow to try and mentally escape, for even just a few moments, there was a good chance the conditions in the camps would eventually drive them insane.
"Alright, your turn. I mentioned where I got my scars, so now you tell me where you got yours," she said, shaking off her aggravated appearance, her features shifting into more of a curious expression as she looked to her fellow walking target. "Well alright then," Isabel replied, leaning back and placing her hands behind her to lean her weight on, her legs stretching out in front of her in a vain attempt to find some kind of comfort on the hard floor. "My own story is nothing spectacular. In fact, judging from what little I now know about you, it's downright boring. This here," she said, pointing a finger at a small scar in the right corner of her forehead that measured perhaps a third of an inch in length," is what really started it all. I was still really little, in first grade maybe, back when I did attend a school. Boys are stupid, as we both know. Put a rock in their hands and they're downright irresponsible, especially at that age. There were maybe two or three of them, and I just got in the way. One hit to the head, and it all goes a little blurry. Next thing I know, I'm on the ground with these spikes popping out all over my body. People's mutations don't usually kick in until puberty, but I'm one of the lucky ones that had it made evident at a really young age. And once mutations are introduced to people, they tend to freak out. Within the week I was expelled. Apparently I was a danger to the students and faculty. My own mother and father started looking at me like I was some kind of monster. Can you imagine what it's like to have your own mother be afraid of you? To just stop being a mother in an instant? And at that age, too. Now, I may not have the best personality around, but it could be worse with the way people since then. Anyways, within another two or three weeks I was dumped in an orphanage. They just couldn't deal with a 'strange child', as they put it. Like I had some kind of flesh eating virus or something. It seems it still hasn't caught on that mutations aren't contagious," she continued, giving a half-hearted little smile, and shaking her head at the stupidity of it all." I bounced around from place to place until I was about fifteen. No one that I went to live with knew I was a mutant at first, but since I'm just so stubborn, I made sure they found out pretty quick. Folks don't like getting lied to, so I was always sent back real fast. Once I hit fifteen, though, I was out of there. I made my escape and I looked after myself. I wandered around like that until the Sanctuary opened up and I settled down in there."
She stopped there and looked over to Emerald, dropping any pitiful expression that may had wormed its was to her features, instead allowing herself to give an easy smile. "It's the same old sob story that most people have. Like I said, nothing spectacular. Though maybe now you can guess why I view and treat humans like I do. They just keep screwing me over. And these Camps? Not really helping them out any. Once the rescue team shows up, I'm killing as many people as I can get my hands on. Mutants excluded. I like most of them," she said, raising a hand to shake out some of her hair as she spoke, gently trying to relieve the uncomfortable stiffness that the bloody strands held. "There are some still worth saving, you know. Not every human out there is completely heartless," Em commented, which only made Isabel smirk. "That may be, but that just means they have a heart for me to rip out, now doesn't it? If they have any brains at all and if they value their lives, they'll just stay out of my way. That's not to say that I kill everyone on sight, I'm not that cruel. They just need to learn that I have very little patience for their bullshit," she continued, motioning casually to the two lackeys that she'd bled out. She could see perfectly well the disapproving looks she was getting from the wolf girl, though she chose to ignore them. Emerald was an X-Man. They were human sympathizers. No use getting into a huge debate over it. Debates usually just end up with one or both parties involved hitting a brick wall in one way or another. Besides, it wouldn't do to make enemies over something that was so pointless in a place like this. Emerald and Isabel had just become friends in a way, no need to blow that all to bits so soon.
Isabel had just closed her eyes to try and block out the harsh hanging lights and avoid making her headache any worse when she hear Em shifting suddenly, leading her to crack one eye open. The lupine girl was looking intently at the locked door on the other side of the room, both wolven ears perked up, her muscles tense, looking as if she'd bolt at any minute. "What are you all worked up about?" Isabel asked, opening the other eye and looking at Emerald quizzically. "Someone's coming. A couple of someones from the sound of it. You'd better get ready, Issie. We're in for another bout of trouble," she replied, shakily getting to her feet, wincing whenever one or more of the wounds on her back was strained. Slowly Isabel followed her lead, getting to her feet as well and looking to the door as the locks were audibly turned and undone. "Someone must have called for help," the once ribboned girl predicted, briefly turning an accusing eye over to the unconscious guard tied up to the table. A group of about five men all ranging in shape and size cautiously entered the room, each stopping briefly to look at the carnage that greeted them, and then to the two girls, their faces holding mixtures of disbelief, anger, nausea, and apprehension. "Well isn't this quite the site. You two freaks have been severely underestimated," one of them commented, pulling out one of those all to familiar shock remotes, earning murderous glares from both of the girls, and even a feral little growl from Emerald. "Looks like the two of you will be in Isolation for a good long time. But, maybe if you're good you'll be let out every now and again, though I can't say those little breaks will be anything pleasant," he continued, eying the array of weaponry that lay scattered on the tables. "Now come on like good little muties. You two do as your told and we won't have to beat you half to death."
I’m just a well-adjusted gal who likes to leave a serious amount of mayhem in her wake.
