The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Taking the escape and glad she could avoid talking herself into a corner for now, Evelyn signaled the danger room to start and the targets started moving. They could start with simple target practice, and depending on how comfortable Serena felt, move from there. Evelyn flipped one of the sai in her hands, and let the echoes slowly focus on analyzing the situation.
"I guess here we go." She remarked and tossed a sai. It gave a dull thud against the target, only slightly off from her mark. The echoes calculated to correct it.
Serena studied Evelyn curiously. From their previous encounter, she didn't really register that Evelyn was socially awkward at all. Serena always seemed to encounter people of that nature these days. Which was kind of amusing, considering that she had always been somewhat of a social butterfly around her friendship groups. Not that she had spoken to any of her friends from school since the night she came to the mansion...
She looked around as the danger room came to life and saw the targets begin moving. A bunch of throw-able objects appeared, simple javelins, throwing knives, ect. She glanced around them as Evelyn threw a sai into a target. Serena shrugged and picked up a throwing knife and took a moment aiming before attempting to throw it, just barely grazing the target she had aimed for.
"I'm not terribly good at this it seems." She tried again, and again, getting a little closer each time. At least she was a fast learner.

Evelyn smiled, trying to look encouraging. At least, that was the goal. She never was good at the teaching thing... In fact, she was pretty sure she terrified the last mansion student she tried to like, console.... "That's why we're practicing. If you're already good at something then it wouldn't be as useful." So at least that part sounded reassuring.
Evelyn threw the sai a few more times, gradually honing in on the center of the target. Her muscles had a familiar burn from the throwing, but she was at least pleased by the sensation. Months back she was probably worse off than Serena at this. "Once you start catching on though, it's just keeping the muscle memory up."
She nodded to Evelyn. Her logic seemed to make sense, pretty much as always. She smiled gently. It was nice to be doing something productive on one of those nights that she was up at ridiculous O' clock instead of just sitting around and drinking tea, reading and or writing. Not that writing wasn't productive, but doing something physically productive felt quite good.
She nodded, throwing a few more times, quickly adapting to the weight and adjusting her throws little by little, getting more and more on target. "Soooooo this is what you usually end up doing after 12am?" She giggled lightly, this wasn't really 'normal' but then again, most of what the residents of the mansion did, particularly at this hour, wasn't normal.
